Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024
Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 4 | Richie Mayer | Richie Mayer | Coming out of the trend-setting 1980 Chicago PowerPop / New Wave scene that included Pezband, Cheap Trick & Shoes, Richie’s group Loose Lips released their EP “Hung Up On Pop” with Grammy award-winning producer Michael Freeman. Loose Lips created its own scene for the next two years with an enthusiastic fan base, memorable shows, frequent radio play, and a number of cable and TV performances that included an AM Chicago Rate-A-Record appearance hosted by Dick Clark. Slipping into another musical skin, in 1986 Mayer formed the Dark Pop group PushPush and soon recorded the album “World On Fire.” A reaction to the music industry’s slide into big hair, loud clothes and tepid songwriting, Mayer plumbed the moodier side of pop while still penning catchy melodies graced with wry observations on the human condition. A new direction again presented itself in the early ’90’s when Mayer became a songwriter and producer for BMG Music Publishing in Toronto, Canada. In collaboration with BMG A&R head David Bendeth, the group Love And Sas won Juno Awards (Canadian Grammys) in 1991 and 1992 for R & B Song of the Year with Mayer and Bendeth’s songs and production. In early 2000 the creative muse beckoned again, this time luring Mayer in a different direction; architecture. Designing and building modern, ecologically sound homes became a passion and Mayer found that composing simple, flowing spaces was much like writing and arranging songs; “If you strip away artifice” Mayer offered, “the truth reveals itself.” A development deal with Epic Records led to a songwriting, production and publishing deal for Mayer with BMG Music in Toronto, Canada. Many songs, recordings and productions now brings us to 2021 and the release of his first solo album, The Inn of Temporary Happiness. |

Search | Add | 4 | Yogoman Burning Band | Yogoman Burning Band | Yogoman Burning Band is an original Ska, Soul, Reggae, Rock, Pop, Americana, and Jam dance band from Bellingham, Washington. Yogoman was a comic penned by Seattle Tattoo artist Max Wallace in the late 80's. The comic strip featured a cartoon alien that was irreverent, anti-establishment, rebellious and fun. Wallace and his skateboarding friends used Yogoman as a mascot in Junior High and High School, tagging the Yogohead in different areas they skated in. Jordan Rain/Yogoman who grew up in Seattle and skated with Wallace and friends, many years later in 1999, asked if he could use Yogoman as his DJ moniker and Wallace gave him rights to use the image and title. In 2005, Rain started his dance band called Yogoman Burning Band. Lead singing drummer Jordan Rain leads his world class dance band through a vast repertoire of original music that incorporates many genres into Yogoman's unique gumbo - Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae, Dub, Dancehall, RnB, Funk, Soul, Hip Hop, Latin, Rock and New Orleans music. Yogoman compels audiences to get up and dance with shout outs, sing a longs, and call and response lyrics, and noises, making it a fun and visceral experience for all ages. Rain has written, arranged and produced 5 albums with Yogoman Burning Band and 2 solo albums.Yogoman Burning Band has performed at major festivals and venues up and down the west coast to New Orleans, LA. Notable events include performing with Toots & the Maytals at Victoria B.C.’s International Ska & Reggae Festival, opening for the world-famous Skatalites in Bellingham, Seattle and in Los Angeles, performing with Third World at Downtown Sounds Bellingham, WA, multiple performances at Vancouver B.C.'s Camp Reverbia at Burning Man Festival, multiple times at Reggae On The River in N. California and backing Jamaican Ska, Reggae and Roots Legend Winston "Flames" Jarrett. YBB toured with Jarrett down the west coast and performed around Seattle and the Pacific Northwest with him. Rain started DJing vinyl in 1999 as DJ Yogoman. DJ Yogoman has a knack for keeping people on the dance floor and bringing an undeniably positive vibe to parties, weddings, festivals and many other occasions in his 25 years experience. DJ Yogoman specializes in spinning vintage Jamaican (Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae, Roots, Dub & Dancehall) early RnB, Soul and Funk records while always keeping his ear to the wheels and incorporating modern artists. Rain also leads a family band called Yogoman & Bongo Jac where he sings lead vocals and plays guitar with his wife “Bongo Jac” and their son Buck Rain (9 y.o.) who both play in the Burning Band also. Search | Add | 4 | Louie Oxley | Louie Oxley was introduced to Starpoint in 1981, while in search for a new keyboard player and a guitar player. He came to a rehearsal to audition with a buddy of his, named Topper who played guitar. Starpoint was getting ready for an upcoming tour. At the first rehearsal with Louie everyone noticed his abilities in playing keyboards, particularly the Mini Moog, and he was hired at that audition. Starpoint toured with Louie Oxley and the first show was at the Warner Theatre in Washington DC, opening for Larry Graham, and Louie recorded on Sarpoint's second album, "Keep On It." His Moog bass work can be heard on the title song, "Keep On It," which was released as a single which reached the R&B charts. On the same album, Louie was co-writer of the song "Starpoint's Here Tonight," including Louie's lead Mini Moog.

Search | Add | 4 | Mediocre Bad Guys | Mt Airy, North Carolina Mediocre Bad Guys began in the fall of 2005 when three friends and music buffs in Mount Airy NC – drummer Les Slate, bassist Jerry Chapman, and guitarist Gary Manfredi – started jamming on some Jack Johnson Tunes. Eventually, MBG secured a few gigs at a local coffee house, attracting larger crowds and a steadier following. With Slate’s vocals hinting at Johnson’s without appearing to imitate, Mediocre Bad Guys were on their way. Around 2006 the band added some songs outside the Jack Johnson box (wonderful as that box is). Cover songs were chosen that played into the band’s lineup, as well as tunes that merged well with Slate’s pure vocals and the more rock-leaning vocals of Chapman. Working meticulously on the tunes, MBG sought not to just “play” others’ songs but to recreate them in a style that paid homage to the original while remaining their own. Some of MBG’s favorite artists to cover are: Ryan Adams, Tom Petty, Rolling Stones, Sister Hazel, Jack Johnson and countless classics from the 60’s and 70’s New songs are added all the time. Overt the years the band’s lineup has evolved, with Slate and Chapman remaining at the foundation. Steve Lindsley joined in on keyboard, guitar/mandolin and vocals; and Doug Davis on guitar, keyboard and vocals. In 2010, as a solid foursome, MBG began a concentrated effort of writing and recording original material; leading to the launch of the “Monthly Free Download” project in September 2011. With their tremendous songwriting chops, an album is certainly in their future. To date, MBG has delighted audiences at both premier nightclubs, festival, and private parties all across the Triad of North Carolina and beyond. They’ve shared the stage with The Little River Band as well as Bobby Keys, sax player for the Rolling Stones. At the same time, they’ve played in living rooms and in quarters so cramped that the keyboardist had to climb over the railing with a ladder. But that’s okay – because when it comes to the Mediocre Bad Guys, it’s always about the music. As it damn well should be.

Search | Add | 4 | Rustre | Lukas Schöttner | Rustre's songs negotiate opposites. His figures move between melancholic doubt and detached confidence. They ask questions and search for answers. And where human language reaches its limits and becomes a cage of thoughts, music becomes a universal means of expression. The singer and musician from Leipzig consciously searches for friction, uncompromisingly combines analogue instruments with electronic sequences and natural field recording samples with melodically blurred soundscapes - all arranged, recorded and mixed by himself. Rustre gives things the time they need. And thus, canonical song structures are dissolved, clear lines are broken. Instead: impatient rhythms, distorted bass guitars and warped instruments, rustling sound samples that first creep in quietly, building up layer by layer, to rage into a powerful discharge. Often, the songs end somewhere completely different than where they started. Everything may be as it is. |

Search | Add | 4 | 33blackLP | Mark T. Davis (Omenya) and Allan Zane (WYRM, Solumenata, Le Scrambled Debutante etc.) | 33blackLP is the project brainchild of Mark Davis (Omenya). He is joined by Allan Zane (WYRM, Solumenata, Le Scrambled Debutante, etc.). Davis’s and Zane’s styles are similar, yet unique enough to augment each other’s work in a manner that is truly sublime. 33blackLP set out to amalgamate and mutate musical genres without adhering to any particular one of them. This strategy is employed in order to lend an element of surprise to every release. The music should speak for itself. Davis and Zane insist on this concept to the extent that every release (and every track on every release) will be represented by progressive Roman numerals as titles. Visually, 33blackLP will engage in “aesthetic open dialogues”—as abstract imagery can complement music without imposing concepts upon it in the way that song titles can. 33blackLP draw influence from every area of life—without implying suggestions or answers. These influences are myriad. These influences are stylistically-blended into a refined hedonism (sometimes even sadomasochistic in its expression) that is the very essence that is the project. |

Search | Add | 4 | ex machina project | ex machina | ex machina (also sometimes referred to as "ex machina project") is a music project that was founded by Claudio Chiriatti in 1999. right from the start Claudio used the possibilities of alternative distribution ways of his output over the internet. the first two albums were distributed exclusively over the internet. after a two year hiatus on new releases he signed a contract with the label FUEGO to release the music under that label. after Claudio moved back to his roots from Düsseldorf to his birth town Clausthal-Zellerfeld in 2008, he realized that working in the studio alone is boring and began to look around for some new collaborators for ex machina. during his search he found his old friend Tobias Schwerdt who has coincidentally just moved back from Berlin to Clausthal and who has played drums in several bands and projects in Berlin. after some trial sessions in the machina they both realized very soon that this is a fertile and exciting partnership. ex machina is completely independent. even though the label releases and distributes the music, the overall responsibility for every artistic decision, the artwork and the presentation are the responsibility of Claudio and Tobias. the music of ex machina is electronica based, with more alternative rock elements introduced since its album "no one". the genres of ex machina are: darkwave, alternative, electronica, synthpop. Members of ex machina are: Claudio Chiriatti Tobias Schwerdt |

Search | Add | 4 | Michiko Toyama | Michiko Toyama (14 Feb 1908 — 3 Oct 2000) was a Japanese-American composer, the first Japanese recipient of an international compositional award, and one of the early pioneers of electronic music. She was a Japan Society Fellow in the Arts (1956–57). Toyama was born in California into a wealthy family from Osaka. In 1930, she started taking piano lessons in Paris. Eventually growing more interested in composition, Michiko became [a=Nadia Boulanger]'s student in 1936. After [a=Jacques Ibert] strongly encouraged Michiko Toyama to submit her Voice of Yamato work to the contest, she won at the 15th festival of the [a10235335] in 1937. Despite this unprecedented achievement, news of Toyama's prize didn't spread widely in Japan. The "Voice of Yamato" remained unperformed for almost 60 years, finally presented at the Gendai no Ongaku-ten '93 exhibition, organized by Nihon Gendai Ongaku Kyokai (Japanese Society for Contemporary Music). Michiko got married in 1937, changing her last name to Muto. In 1948, Michiko Toyama returned to Japan, where she began teaching counterpoint and piano at the Osaka Academy of Music. In 1952, Toyama relocated to Europe and continued her studies at the Paris Conservatory with [a=Darius Milhaud], [a=Olivier Messiaen] and [a=Noël Gallon]. She met [a=Pierre Schaeffer] at Conservatory and became deeply impressed by his presentation of Musique Concrète and other electroacoustic experiments. In 1955, Toyama received a scholarship to study with [a=Roger Sessions] at Tanglewood, so she returned to the United States. Michiko also studied conducting at the Pierre Monteux School in Hancock, Maine. In 1956, she enrolled in [l=Columbia University] to learn electronic music with [a=Otto Luening] and [a=Vladimir Ussachevsky] at a newly-established [l372382]. Toyama became one of the first women to work at C-PEMC, composing her first electronic piece, Waka, in 1958. During her Columbia tenure, Michiko befriended [a=Edgard Varèse] as both shared a passion for Japanese "gagaku" traditional court music. Soon after the release of Toyama's sole album, [m=2652725], she returned to Japan and became a research fellow at [l=Kyoto University]. In 1961, Michiko Toyama applied for a Rockefeller Foundation grant to build an electronic music studio in Japan. According to some biographical sources, she got rejected — with [l=Pitchfork Media] citing a rather offensive application feedback Michiko received in their Apr 2021 article. As per Tsuji Hiromi in the 1999 "Josei sakkyokuka retsuden" (Portraits of Women Composers) book, Toyama couldn't finish the project due to problems with her Japanese collaborator. Subsequently, she focused on technical acoustical research and gave up composing.

Search | Add | 4 | Salvatore Panzera | Salvatore Vito Panzera | Salvatore “Sal” Vito Panzera is originally from Lequile in Apulia, and as many Italians of his generation, his parents moved to Canada in 1967. He was already there by the time of his first single “Era Scritto Cosi/Il Vento” in 1969. There he formed a band with “paisà” Giovanni “Johnny” d’Orazio and his brother Sergio Panzera, playing every Saturday for italian weddings in Montreal. It was during one of these gigs he met Jerry Cucuzzella, a disco producer from Montreal (Bent Boys, Suzy Q, Punkin’ Machine). Giovanni and Jerry would end up working together on a lot of other disco and hi-nrg productions such as Nightlife Unlimited, Stephanie Wells, Valerie Krystal, Evelyn Smith, Motion, while Sal wrote and sang “Space Traveller”, an english and french cover of the Italian disco track “Capire, Amare, Soffrire” by Il Seme dell’Amore, for his studio group Animation. “No, Stasera No” was originally released as a 7” in a few hundreds copies with no cover, handed out as a promotional tool in order to publicize Sal and Giovanni’s own label “Piuma”, when they decided to step into production. Timing didn’t help the fate of this 7”, as it got released in 1981, at the very end of the golden era of disco music, letting it disappear into obscurity and making it a super sought-after disco holy grail. |
