Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 4 | Fanny Reed Hammond | Fanny Bliss Reed (1875-1969) was a musician, curator, and benefactress of the arts, for whom the Pine Manor College Fanny Reed Hammond Collection of Keyboard Instruments was named. The daughter of Rev. Dr. Edward Allen Reed and Mary Bliss Reed, Mrs. Hammond was for most of her life a resident of Holyoke, Massachusetts. She married William Churchill Hammond, noted organist, at the Second Congregational Church of Holyoke where he was music director (today the United Congregational Church) on June 28, 1898 and they had two sons, William Churchill Hammond, Jr. and Lansing Van der Heyden Hammond. In the 1920s she appears to have arranged sheet music for the violin and piano, published under C. W. Thompson & Co. of Boston. She was curator of the Skinner Musical Collection for many decades, appearing to likely have taken up the mantle as the main curator at Wistariahurst after the death of Nils J. Ericsson, a contemporary of Arnold Dolmetsch, after his death on February 17, 1933. This coincided with the same year the catalog of that collection was first released under the commission of William Skinner (II). Mrs. Hammond would remain with the Wistariahurst collection as curator up through its donation to Yale in 1960, and recorded at least 2 records of her narration and explanation of its instruments.

Their week-long parties, thrown in almost complete darkness at the long-defunct Silver Kly-Maxx Factory, are the stuff of legend. Over three decades on and The Heist is down to the two last surviving members, a pair of incognito veritable DJ-producers, still joyfully entwined in the murky world of nocturnal entertainment - with no sign of slowing in tempo. Despite their current whereabouts a mystery, the pair find time to regularly package off dubplates, worth their weight in gold, from their historic musical archive to London-based label Bona Fido in a bid to share their unique spiritual legacy to the world.

Search | Add | 4 | Bernard Moussali | Bernard Moussali (1953, Beirut -1996, Paris) was an Associate Professor of Arab Literature, and Lecturer at the Sorbonne, he had dedicated his research to Arab Music, with an open-mindedness he passionately defended. Born to a Syrian-Lebanese father and a Belgian mother, he carried within a multiculturality that was at the core of his too short scientific career. Gifted with an uncommon spirit of enquiry and with rare erudition, attentive reader of Ṭabarī, of ‘Abd al-Ghanī al-Nābulsī as well as of Umberto Eco or simply of crime novels, Bernard Moussali was known for his often categorical judgements and his quick wit that made of him and intellectual who was admired as much as he was feared. He published very little, always reworking the texts he patiently prepared. In the field of Arab Literature, we only know of a single course by him, that remained a manuscript, on Maḥmūd Darwīsh’s work; but he had also started writing a History of Contemporary Arabic Literature that remained unfinished. Bernard Moussali had established himself as a well-informed amateur and a passionate listener of early 20th century Arab Music that he thought was more important to immerse oneself in than to analyse. Like Christian Poché or Frédéric Lagrange, he gave priority to archiving, particularly through 78rpm discs that reflected a period he considered to be unjustly forgotten. In this capacity, he contributed, with Christian Poché, to the first CD re-release of Arab Music records (Ocora, Arab World Institute, 1987). His research work mainly concerned the 1932 Cairo Congress of Arab Music. He had dedicated to this subject his master’s dissertation (1980) and was preparing on the same theme a doctorate thesis that was unfortunately interrupted because of his illness. Nevertheless, he participated to the re-release of a selection of 78rpm discs recorded in Cairo in 1932, once again with Christian Poché (IMA, Bnf, 1989). His uncompromising analysis of the debates of the Cairo Congress[1] had raised his awareness about he importance of the influence of Ottoman Music on its Arab counterpart during the last centuries, and he learned Turkish in order to better exploit these sources. He also often pointed out the essential role, ignored later on, of numerous minorities –Christians, Jews and others– as to the origins of “Arab Music”. Regarding the Egyptian hegemonism at the 1932 Congress, he brought out the historical contribution of Syria in the 18th and the 19th centuries. Bernard Moussali mainly published CD booklets, around twenty, including mostly audio archives, but also some live concerts, elevating the disc’s value to that of an anthology, thanks to his always precise erudition as well as to his passionate loquacity: a lyrical listener who knew how to steer himself in an era of statistics and technicity.

Search | Add | 4 | Lucas Stagg | The great Canadian artist Fred Eaglesmith once remarked that he believed one day southern Ontario will be viewed much like Texas in terms of how many great singer/songwriters each region has produced. What he heard was a common voice, capable of expressing all the joy, pain, fun and frustration of living in a place where the past and present are always seemingly at odds; a voice able to channel this tension into a sound that can’t strictly be called country, blues or rock and roll, but a bastard offspring of all three. This is Lucas Stagg. The Kitchener, Ontario native, now based in Toronto's Junction, has toured endlessly and released a dozen albums over the past decade, each a reflection of Stagg's choice of the troubadour life. By turns confessional and narrative, his songs are presented in an unadorned performance and production style that throws their lyrical and melodic content into sharp relief.

Search | Add | 4 | Chona Borromeo | An aficionado of jazz music, Chona is not only a versatile and unique singer but she is a very prolific songwriter and composer. Music has always been a part of Chona Borromeo’s life. She has been singing for weddings and has been part of a church choir since the age of nine. It is a gift that she has carried and nurtured through the years. Fame however, has never been a part of her agenda. What her music and her life is that of love, worship and service, making it undeniable how deep and indelible her influence has been the lives of people she has come to call peers and most especially, family and friends. For many years, Chona had her humble beginnings on the stages of high-star hotels and prestigious establishments in Manila. A member of the FILSCAP since 2004, Chona is an accomplished songwriter and composer. Her song “Narito Lang Ako” won the Highly Commended Song Award in the 2004 ABS-CBN Himig Handog Songwriting Competition and was included in Vina Morales’ album Mamahalin Ka Nya. In 2006, she penned the powerful track, Simulan Natin, making the finals and thus being included in the Anti-Corruption Songwriting Competition and Album, a collaborative project of the Ombudsman and the British Embassy. Chona was also a “10-week Champion and Grand champion” at the Tanghalan ng Kampeon back in 1993. 2004 proved to be another pivotal year as Chona started to volunteer in Victory’s worship team. With God’s gift of music as a natural language for her, she served to communicate the love, power and majesty of Jesus to congregants. Known fondly as “ate Chona” she has become a mentor to fellow volunteers. Not only does she share her effective and honed musical know-how, she freely shares her life journey to friends and spiritual family, from being a free-spirited young adult to her current struggles and victories as a wife and mother, and as an all-around worshiper and child of God.

Search | Add | 4 | Urinatorium | Hubert Wińczyk | URINATORIUM aims to seek, examine and process sounds that may be considered metabolic wastes of life and human activity. Occasionally, sonoric phenomena from human surroundings are included in the system, which is thought to be an inevitable consequence of the first premise. The aim of the experiments is mainly cognitive, however the resulting sound productions may be perceived in aesthetic categories – as music. This endeavour was undertaken in 2005 by Hubert Wińczyk (H. Urinator) and/or Albert Schablack. Due to Albert’s health condition, only H. Urinator takes part in live performances. He is a member of an electro-acoustic band, kakofoNIKT, and also cooperates with such musicians as Jeff Gburek, Piotr Tkacz (in a project Revue svazu českých architektů), Patryk Lichota, Roman Brombosz and Mojomat. In his performances, H. Urinator uses tools, metal and plastic scraps, sine-wave tone generator, field recordings, dictaphones, his own (uh)human voice, contact microphones, radios, toy instruments for children and guitar pedal effects. During the recording stage, he works with MD recorder, dictaphones, loop station, reel-to-reel tape recorder, archive radio recordings and computer with various software. "Urina" is a proper female name, derived from the Hebrew, Urit, meaning "brightness". |
