Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 2 | Brooks Tegler's Hot Jazz | Most of the music is small band swing from the 1930's and 1940's - hits from the Benny Goodman Trio, Quartet, and Sextet, from Artie Shaw and The Gramercy Five, from John Kirby, Fats Waller, Nat King Cole, Lionel Hampton, Duke Ellington, Gene Krupa, Louie Jordan and The Tympani Five, as well as a few charts "cut down" from the very popular bigband version. In fact, most of the tunes were smash hits in their time...a time when jazz was close to being the popular music of the day. Charts were made by transcribing from 78 rpm records.

Search | Add | 2 | La'verne Washington | LaVerne has dedicated her life to the arts in every possible way. As an artist herself but also behind the scenes, helping and supporting her contemporaries fulfil their callings. Charlie Parker, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Mary Lou Williams - LaVerne grew up in Kansas City listening to the all time jazz greats, and soon discovered she was blessed with a keen sense for playing music by ear, playing the piano to what she would hear on the radio. In her teens whilst the 60s transitioned to the 70s’ disco and funk era, LaVerne was there to witness it all, and she would go on to study music at the Charlie Parker Academy where she was inspired to become an entertainer. At Langston University, LaVerne kept studying music where her career blossomed, founding and touring the US with the gospel group “Emery Shaw and the Voices of Praise”, singing in several college bands and with her choir “The Voices Of Bethel”. LaVerne would go on to perform notably with her bands “LaVerne Washington and Rococo” and the “LaVerne Washington Quartet”, and record several songs in KC including “The Promise” and “I Found What I’ve Been Searching For” in 1984 before moving to Washington DC. In DC, LaVerne was offered a position as a Program specialist with the National Endowment For The Arts where she started supporting other artists through her work. Over the next couple decades, LaVerne became an associate producer for the Rhythm and Blues Foundation and the Pioneer Awards Ceremonies held in New York, Philadelphia and Los Angeles, which saw the likes of Prince, Aretha Franklin and Jerry Butler attending among others. She has also managed and was mentored by DeeDee Sharp and consulted with artists including Bonnie Raitt (who acted as a mentor to Laverne as well), Kim Weston, Kathy Sledge (SisterSledge), Smokey Robinson and G.C Cameron (Spinners). During that time, LaVerne has kept singing, on her own and as a backing vocalist for DeeDee Sharp and Freda Payne and has never stopped her lifelong dedication to music and the Arts.

Search | Add | 2 | Saadoun Al-Bayati | Saadoun Al-Bayati, born in Baghdad, Iraq, is the son of an ardhahalchi or paralegal fluent in Arabic, Turkish and Kurdish and a Sufi woman of the Na'imiyya order. As a child, while attending Sufi rituals and ceremonies with his mother and maternal uncle, Shaykh Jasim Abd al-Sittar, Saadoun was exposed to the meditative states produced through sustained percussion and vocalizing. His voice training took place through Qur'anic recitation in which fine precision in achieving correct tones and articulation of words in required. As a young man, Saadoun often substituted for the muezzin at his neighborhood mosque in the Al-Fadhl section of Old Baghdad, calling Muslims to prayer. Having internalized the spiritual essence of a Middle Eastern/Islamic aesthetic, Saadoun has performed the music of Iraq and other parts of the Arab Middle East since childhood. In the United States Saadoun pursued studies in acting and graduated from the Goodman Theatre at the Art Institute of Chicago. His many accomplishments as an actor included playing Dr. Aziz to Lillian Gish's Mrs. Moore in "A Passage to India" and working with such theatrical talents as Morris Carnovsky in "Mother Courage" and "King Lear "and Sam Wanamaker in "MacBeth." But throughout his life and studies, music has been a focal point for his intense musical energies. Saadoun thus decided to learn the oud or unfretted version of the lute, initially to better understand the musical structures of Middle Eastern music - specifically the maqamat or modal structures, with their distinct ascending and descending scales - and eventually to provide a reliable support for his singing voice (not easy, when one has perfect pitch). Saadoun was fortunate to be able to learn from close personal friends such as the pre-eminent Nubian musician Hamza El-Din, the Lebanese musician George Khayyat, and the Syrian oud-player Hussny El-Zaim. He has performed at concerts and night clubs in many parts of the United States. Saadoun's unique musical expression emanates from the depth of his soul and transcends all geographical boundaries. A voice that stirs profound emotions and a technique that is at once powerful and sensuous represent the highest level of artistic expression." (From his website) Songs of Iraq was arranged and performed entirely by Saadoun Al-Bayati in 1973.

Search | Add | 2 | Skotni Vrag | Skotni Vrag | Skotni Vrag is a Croatian psychedelic-progressive rock band that has garnered attention for their unique and eccentric approach to music. Hailing from Virovitica, Croatia, the band consists of members with pseudonyms such as Papa Š., Pater Rodrigo, Monsinjor Luigi, and Kardinal Broz, showcasing their playful and satirical nature. The band's satirical and humorous style is reminiscent of the ethos of legendary musician like Frank Zappa and the local Buldožer, who emphasized the importance of keeping humor in music. Despite emerging from regional centers rather than major metropolitan areas, Skotni Vrag has proven their ability to attract a significant audience with their energetic and technically demanding performances. Their debut album "Skotni vrag" released in 2022 showcased their prowess in blending various genres like metalic-blues, math-rock, funk, hip-hop, and psychedelia into a cohesive and powerful rock sound. Their live performances are known for their engaging stage presence and audience interaction, creating a memorable experience for their fans. Skotni Vrag's musical journey reflects a similar trajectory to bands like the Mothers of Invention, pushing boundaries and experimenting with different musical elements while maintaining a strong connection with their audience. Their performances are characterized by intricate instrumental arrangements, quirky lyrics, and a fearless exploration of diverse musical styles. With their growing popularity and impressive musical skills, Skotni Vrag continues to carve out a unique space in the Croatian music scene as a dynamic and innovative rock band. Kardinal Broz (crveni) - guitar, vocals, programming Papa Š. (plavi) - guitar, vocals, keyboards Pater Rodrigo (crni) - bass Mosinjor Luigi (zeleni) - drums |

Search | Add | 2 | The Caffrey Brothers | Phil, Peter, & Paul Caffrey started in the band Arbre in the 1970's who made 2 albums for DJM Records. Following some critical but not commercial success, they renamed the band 'Caffrey' and recorded for Phonogram, but with even less success. Phil had a song he co-wrote with George Lamb recorded by Kiki Dee and did session backing vocals for Saxon and others. The brothers' next band project was 'The Lion's Share' but again widespread acclaim eluded them. In 1999 the brothers decided to form one more band together. Booking into Newcastle’s Cluny Studios with the cream of local musicians, they began to record and simultaneously return to playing live gigs. Buoyed by the critical and public acclaim afforded to their live shows (standing room only being the order of the day) they released their debut ('The Caffrey Brothers') nationally in 2000, following growing demand. A further album followed in 2002 titled 'Face On My T-Shirt' with the band now simply 'The Caffreys', youngest brother Paul left in 2015 and the current line-up features Phil and Peter alongside Michael Bailey (Bass, Vocals), David Moore (Guitar) and Rachel Bailey (Violin/Accordion).

Search | Add | 2 | Johnston Atoll | Johnston Atoll were a fun-punk / pop-punk band from the Bergisch Gladbach area, that existed for about 10 years at all. As children, [a7436802] (later known as Sin Stanley and [a2496005]) and [a7436799] hung out in Sallys' grandma's basement to work on music with a keyboard, a bass-guitar and vocals. They called themselves "Lassies im Toaster" in the very early days (around 1993) and wrote german lyrics, having some lil hits with "Mein Frisör", "Wenn ich ein Mädchen wär" or "Das Ungetüm greift zu". In 1995 they changed their name to "Johnston Atoll" (named after an island where the US used to do some atom-bomb testings in the 60s) and wrote their songs in english language only. Starting out as a three-piece with new drummer [a7436801], pretty soon they got joined by lead-guitarist Kees to do only one concert with this line-up. It was the first one in May 1996. Sally didn´t get along with Kees (reasons might´ve been Sallys puberty…) and the band went on as a three-piece. More shows followed, same as two DIY tapes "Slubberdegullion" (1996) and "Misspent Youth" (1997). In 1998 [a7436803] joined the band. Before that time he played in bands like [a166166] or Atomic Garden. In 1999 the first and only album "Utters" (CD, Kot Records) followed. Johnston Atoll played shows throughout Germany until 2001, then changed their name to [a4301419] and their music style more towards alternative rock.

"A Wal*Mart Christmas" was James, performatively known as the Lovebunny and I tried to see if we could make enough noise in Walmart to get kicked out on Christmas Eve 1999. No one even reprimanded us. "The Table Is Neutral" is me and my friend A.T. fucking around and is definitely the piece where I learned about the awesome power of the tape loop, and "1.1.00." It's me conducting, A.T., Shea, Adam Schutzman (the night I met him) and my high school friend Hannah Winkler, they're all reading different books I'd given them, save for A.T. who's just improvising a bunch of intellectual nonsense which is still what he does constantly every day of his damn life. -Id M Theft Able
