Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 5 Little Jack MacDonald Little Jack (1887 – 1969) was raised in Judique, NS by Annie MacMaster MacDonnell, the wife of his mother’s brother, Allan “Tal”. Raised in this culturally rich area, Little Jack was exposed to many fine fiddlers and the Gaelic language. As a youngster learning the culture, Jack attempted to construct a fiddle from a wooden cigar-box. Seeing such an interest, Jack’s foster father built a half-sized instrument for him, and thus was the beginning of Jack’s fiddling career. Jack spent many of his years away from Cape Breton due to work and lived in Montreal, New England, Northern Ontario, Windsor Ontario, and Detroit Michigan. He was known for his traditional style, attention to detail, excellent bowing and cuttings, and precise position work which lent themselves to his excellent expression of difficult pastoral airs. With such dedication, he has been described as “The Bard of Scottish Fiddling.” His styled is exampled in his eight recordings, most on 78 discs. His personal motto with regards to Cape Breton fiddle, appears in the book the “Cape Breton Fiddler” as “music must have soul to make it worthwhile.”

Search Add 5 The Bleu Forest Garage/psych band formed in 1966 in Ventura County, California. Members were Ron Barkley (lead guitar, vocals), Jack Caviness (drums), Mike Cullen (guitar, vocals), Gary Heuer (lead guitar, vocals), Ed Steele (drums, vocals), and Larry Wiseman (keyboards). USA produced such a vast variety of garage bands, that were highly influenced by major known bands of the time like Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix & The Experience and The Grateful Dead. Every little town in the US has been over-flooded with teenagers full of enthusiasm and ideas reflecting the electrifying times, when everything suddenly seemed to be possible. One of the better local bands, that came and went with the '60s fading into plastic '70s were Ventura County’ Bleu Forest. So far only a handful of people heard these 1968 unreleased recordings, which were hidden in Caviness (only surviving member) basement and let me say this: What we have here is a lost psych-garage classic. A crossover between groovy melodies of Moby Grape mixed with Steppenwolf heaviness.

Search Add 5 Gaspard de La Montagne Gaspard Gigon Having previously experimented with various styles of music and performed in several acts, Swiss artist Gaspard de la Montagne is distilling his sound into something truly unique, as dark and tough as it is beautiful. Though the elements in his music are sometimes ice-cold, together they leave you feeling the opposite. He impressed with his debut ‘Pôle’ EP in 2013 and again with both ‘Stallion’ and 'Thot' a couple of years later, as his focus shifted from synth-led euphoria to bassy, hybrid techno. Today, his tracks bring the two directions together with seldomly-heard originality. ‘Spectres’, Gaspard’s first EP for his own label Sbire, exhibits this balance as well as any of his music so far. Dark, functional tracks shot with beams of light, where shards of sound react with one another and melody reflects from the edges.

Search Add 5 Jesse Waldman Jesse Waldman One of Jesse Waldman’s most cherished possessions is a cassette of his grandmother singing the Yiddish folk song Papirosen to his mother. A remnant, like the abandoned guitar discovered in his parent’s basement, that drove his rock ‘n roll dreams out of the suburban sprawl of Thornhill, Ontario, and into the bars of downtown Toronto. A journey cross-country led him to mountains, ocean, and into the arms of Vancouver's Commercial Drive music scene. Now his home of over twenty years, the West Coast continues to inspire his lush imagery, sublime melodies, and outstanding technique. Influenced by folk and blues pioneers Townes Van Zandt, Taj Mahal, and Neil Young, Jesse has toured Canada, Western US, and the UK, performing everywhere from local pubs to soft-seat theaters, appearing at major festivals including Vancouver's Folk and International Jazz Fests. Mansion Full of Ghosts is Jesse's highly anticipated solo debut, an exploration of the city's vast duality, a backdrop of beauty mirrored by a fierce underbelly, and a need to keep a light on in the dark.

Search Add 5 Rock Da Mo$T Rock Da Most Rock Da Most was a German-based Hip-Hop group in Berlin. The crew was composed of members DJ Derezon, DJ Run X Kid, MC Roskoe and MC Blacky. Credited with releasing the first record by a West German Hip-Hop group, Rock Da Most released [m=242825] in 1989 prior to the reunification of West and East Germany. Birthed by the Hip-Hop scene in Germany, Rock Da Most, like other Hip-Hop artists and groups, were influenced by the images of American Hip-Hop circulating at the time. During the late 1970s to mid 1980's, Germany experienced its short era of an old-school Hip Hop scene after Charlie Ahearn's 1982 film Wild Style and the 1984 film Beat Street produced by Harry Belafonte. Through the depiction of an African-American / Latino-American youth street culture in America, films like these influenced the Hip-Hop scene in Germany as well as its manifestation.

He was married to gospel singer and songwriter [a7662326] (in 1964). Dartt’s musical training began in high school. Dartt’s first experience in Gospel music came in 1960 when he joined a teen chorale, The Christianaires. In the fall of 1963. Tracy’s first attempt at songwriting was “Brand New Feeling”. His songwriting mentor was his quartet partner, Al Harkins. He moved to Oklahoma in 1972, where he accepted the invitation from Earl and Lily Fern Weatherford to join the legendary Weatherford Quartet. After the Weatherfords, he worked for a time as a producer for Cam Records and laid the foundation for Sound Factory Music Company. Then it was back to California, where he took up partnership in a swimming pool construction company. While in the pool business, Dartt & wife, Sharon, helped to form a new gospel group with June and Dale Wade and Larry Brown, called The Country Congregation. Tracy began his solo career in 1975. He wrote the songs and sang them too, as his wife, Sharon, accompanied him on the piano. In 1988, Tracy began pastoring the First Baptist Church of Auberry, California. He resigned the church after seven years, and in 1995 formed a family gospel group, The Dartts.
