Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Ojee Los Angeles based indie-dub duo of Eric Green and Brian Campbell. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Brian Campbell and Eric Green (the duo who are Ojee) eventually found themselves down in Los Angeles. Here they further developed their sound, but the feeling of the wilderness remained. Finally there came "Ojee Walk Upright", the recently recorded debut album. The sound of Ojee can most accurately be described as indie dub-rock. Their songs combine reggae rhythms and basslines with folky vocal harmonies, weaving through a steady rock beat. Existence, self-reflection, and human nature are the focus of the lyrics. Three of their biggest influences throughout the years have been Lee "Scratch" Perry, Donovan, and Beck.

Search Add 2 Reverend G. W. Delatte George Warren DeLatte George DeLatte attended a revival meeting in Louisiana of a dynamic, great "old-time" evangelist, Rev. Gayle Jackson, when he was 23 years of age. His life changed from that time! He became a born again Christian that night and soon received the call to the ministry! His heart became hungry for the Word of God. He began studying by reading children Bible story books. They were full of the Old Testament stories of the great prophets and the law, and of people of Bible times and of our forgiving God and of the judgment of God. He learned of the grace of God as he studied the New Testament stories and the life of Jesus, about Peter and the disciples, and the Apostle Paul. As he continued reading and studying many Bible verses stayed in his memory... Soon he answered the call God had upon him and he became an ordained minister. When he preached the words would flow from him... The Bible became alive to the people who attended the revival meetings, as he preached and used the examples of Biblical heroes such as Daniel, who remained true to God even when thrown in the lions den and one could visualize Shadrack, Meshek and Abednego, as they were in the fiery furnace...When he was preaching and spoke of "the man in the long white robe" it made chills come over one... Rev. DeLatte was a great soul winner for Christ as he preached across America and journeyed to many foreign countries, including Haiti and India, always preaching the message of salvation. He believed in forgiveness and redemption, and he believed in heaven and hell ...When he gave an alter call one could have heard a pin drop it was so silent in the congregation as he prayed and ministered to them... The Holy Spirit touched people's hearts with conviction, and thousands of people came forward through the years to pray, to renew their commitments, to ask the Lord for forgiveness of their sins, and to accept Jesus in their hearts. Rev. DeLatte loved to pray for people! There would be long lines of people and families patiently waiting to share their prayer requests with Rev. DeLatte. He would stand for hours until he had personally prayed for each person who wanted prayer, needed encouragement, or to be ministered to. He was anointed and he believed in the full gospel, in the gifts of the spirit, and when he ministered in a revival service to people often it was through the word of knowledge, or word of wisdom or word of faith. Born- January 6, 1927 Louisiana, USA Died- February 2, 2006 (aged 79) Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee, USA

Search Add 2 The Old Strathcona Town Band In March 1980, The Old Strathcona Town Band formed in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The group adopted its name from the city's Old Strathcona district, and the neighbourhood's band shell became their "summer home." Members included lifelong musicians, Edmonton Symphony Orchestra members, university students, teachers, and business professionals. The band was conducted by [a6986853] and their first local appearances were at the Summerfest Stage in Sir Winston Churchill Square, Fort Edmonton Park, Government House, and Borden Park. Promotion for the group described them as, "light and lively music reminiscent of early regimental and town bands - tunes people recognize and love." Their repertoire focused on music from 1900 to 1945 and included marches, show tunes, novelty numbers, folk song arrangements, and overtures.

Search Add 2 Miguel De Armas Quartet Miguel De Armas is a versatile jazz pianist and composer. He weaves strands of Cuban and American jazz influences in a compellingly eclectic way. Born in Havana, Cuba, Miguel studied at the Conservatory Amadeo Roldan and graduated from the Instituto Superior de Arte with a Bachelor in Cuban Percussion. In 1988, he co-founded the acclaimed Cuban band NG La Banda Orchestra with José Luis Cortés and other prestigious Cuban musicians. For over a decade, he toured with this band around the world and performed at world-class Jazz Festivals such as the North Sea, Montreaux, Nice, Nantes, Normandia, Couleur Café, Barranquijazz, Río de Janeiro Film Festival, among others. Ivan Lins, Clark Terry, Tania Maria, Chico Freeman, Dave Valentin, Sammy Figueroa, Robbie Ammen, Gilberto Gil, Ermeto Pascual. Now Miguel has brought his musical talents to the city Ottawa, Canada which he considers his adopted home. His hope is to introduce Canadians to the works of an original Cuban talent whose performances are nothing short of a master class in original Cuban jazz rhythms.

Search Add 2 The Fallthrough Brighton punks The Fallthrough in the vein of Bouncing Souls / Strike Anywhere. The Fallthrough feature ex-members of Once Over, A Man Down & Ragweek. According to Seven Inch Records : "The Fallthrough were a Brighton based melodic punk / hardcore 4 piece. They toured the UK, Europe, Russia & Canada. We paid for their EP & tour merch and they set off on the road. Upon their return they wrote an album, went to Finland to record it & then split up. We never saw a penny from any sales of the EP or the T Shirts we had printed for them - £1200 wasted that could've been put to good use on a band who actually gave a shit!"

Search Add 2 Psycho-Kat Tracey Pagey The Psycho-Kat was the name used by New Zealand musician Tracey Pagey for the solo music she recorded for and with the [l192778] label between mid 1994 and late 1996. Pagey's solo work followed her involvement with the skewed pop-cabaret four-piece [a3165320] between late 1993 & mid 1994, and with the typical DIY approach of kRkRkRk, involved guitars, keyboards, drum machines, and bits of metal. Whilst on the one hand, her metal percussion and distorted synth drones created sounds reminiscent of early Neubauten, she also explored more subtle meditative compositions which layered ethereal vocals, wind instruments, and understated tape and delay peddle loops.

Search Add 2 Erick De Armas Erick de Armas, a Cuban born in Havana in the 1960s, made his first appearance in the small world of Cuban television when he was only seven years old, and presented a popular children's programme (Escenario Escolar) until he was fourteen. As an actor and impersonator, he appeared in several other N shows, including the series De Copemico a Gagarin, and also on stage ai the J. Marti Theatre and the Havana Musical Theatre, alongside some of the great names in the world of Cuban entertainment, such as Zenia Marabal, Candita Guintana and Carlos Paulin. He also made a series of recordings as soloist for the children's choir of the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television Orchestra, under Alfredo Perez. All these diverse activities did not stop him from pursuing conscientious studies in medicine from 1982 to 1993. He qualified as a general practitioner and later specialized in holistic medicine. A year later he went into exile. Erick settled in Belgium, with the intention of practicing medicine, but had to give up the idea as his qualifications were not recognized in Belgium. To earn a living, he returned to the performing arts and won two Cuban dance competitions, which enabled him to find work as a dance teacher. He began to play music again in 1997, founding the group Guarachando with the guitarist Humberto Gonzalez Matamoros. With the group Guarachando, Erick appeared regularly at jazz clubs and festivals, and won the second prize at the Antwerp Latino Awards in 2001. It was inevitable that through that great, all-embracing movement, in which world music and improvised music today exist side by side, that the paths of Erick de Armas and the jazz singer David Linx should cross. David found himself attracted to the vocal qualities of the Cuban... So, as time went on and as Erick's circle of acquaintances increased, the necessity of earning a living gave way to mare artistic aims... David Linx (considered to be one of today's best jazz singers) has taken charge of the artistic direction, arrangements and production of this, Erick's first solo album, giving a strong jazzy influence to the original songs on the record. Erick de Armas has gone beyond mere variations on Cuban musical clichés, beyond all those Guantanameras stacked up in record shops like so many hot meals for cold countries, to find a sense of freedom that comes close to improvisation. Among his many influences, the nueva trova, personified hy Pablo Milanès and Silvio Rodriguez among others, is perhaps the most striking. The cultural background of son, danzon and rumba is always present, and musi-cians like Benny more and Carios Embale have an important place in Erick's personal Pantheon... In the course of his latest album, he explores a wide range of stylistic combinations: from trova-filin influences to the spoken song with an accompaniment of jazzy modal improvisation; from bolero-jazz with a blues intro and cool-jazz interlude, to samba-jazz with a Caribbean flavour. There are also duos, with slower, sauntering arrangements, moving from piano-voice, piano-bass, the jazz ballad, Latin-jazz scat, bossa-son and bolero-pop, so discovering a whole new world of potentialities... Erick de Armas is backed by a jazz quartet that is a long way away from any direct tropical influence. and which features some of David Linx's musical cohorts. The French drummer Stéphane Huchard; Jules Bikolo (from Julien Loureau's Groove Gang) on the double-bass; Joseph Dumoulin on piano. and David Linx's long-standing collaborator, the pianist Diederik Wissels. There is also the invaluable contribution of Kathy Adam on the cello and Olivier Louvel on the guitar...Accompanied by this superb team, Erick sets off on the open sea, with no fear of the sharks that might attack his musical 'balsa'... Tragic, picaresque or evocative, love stories are everywhere in Cuban popular music. This is a result of the climate, and of the Cubans' sophisticated relation with the body, on the one hand, and with sensuality, on the other- that extreme sensuality of the island's people and culture, which has the same sort of ebb and flow movement as the Caribbean Sea on the Malecon, opening up Havana to the vastness of the ocean...The metaphor of lave in Erick's songs is a way of evoking the conflicting relations of the exile with his native land - the generous mother and frustrating mistress. Cuba, so beautiful and so unhappy... Erick : "I also dedicate this record to Cuba, to my island. I've tried to show its weaknesses and faults through these love stories. I don 't want to give the impression of an unhappy exile, steeped in nostalgia -more of someone enlightened by relief and recognition. And I also sing to fight the abuse of power and to praise the courage of the mothers who go to the beach to say goodbye to their children when they set out on the open sea, and whose future depends on a simple raft ..." Arto Adorno July 2003 Translation: Malcolm Eden His album "Alivio y Recuerdo" (Healing & memory) was released end 2002 by Iris Music and is distributed by Harmonia Mundi (3001 871 HM 87). The musicians :Jozef Dumoulin, piano; Jules Bikilo, double bass; Stéphane Huchard, drums; Guests : Olivier Louvel, guitar; Chris Joris, percussion; Bert Joris, trumpet; Pierre Bernard, flute; Diederik Wissels, piano; Kathy Adam, cello; Alice Lacksman, Barbara Fernandez, Sarah & Carmen Araujo, backing vocals; David Link, backing vocals
