Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 11 | شهرزاد | شفيقة محمد السيد (Shafīqa Muḥammad al-Sayyid) | Shahrazad was an Egyptian singer and actress born in El Helmiya, a neighborhood of Cairo, on the 8th of January 1928. At a very young age she took part in various films and played a role in the operetta "Al’ashara al Tayyiba" written by Muhammad Taymur and set to music by Sayyed Darwish, a metaphorical work on the domination of the Mammelucks in Egypt. She got her first hit with the song "Awal ma jayt fy al mi'ad", composed by Riad Al Sunbati and played on national radio in 1952. Active during the golden age of Egyptian music, she was shown respect by cult figures like Mohamed Abdel Wahab and Umm Khultum, who said: "Shahrazad is the only singer besides me who can be on stage singing for hours". Collaborated with the best Egyptian composers including: Kamal Al Taweel, Baligh Hamdy, Mohamed El Mougy and Sayed Mekawy. In the early 1960s she began performing monthly concerts in the theaters of El Gomhouriaand Azbakeya consolidating her fame. Although much loved at her home country, Shahrazad is almost unknown to the Western public. Her fame has often been obscured by singers like Najat al Saghira and Umm Khultum. In 2007 the Egyptian Academy of Arts has honored Shahrazad for her exceptional contribution to the development of the fine arts. Shahrazad passed on April 6, 2013. Her niece, film director Heba Yousri, made a documentary on the life and career of the singer titled “ Stu Zad, Awal Ashq” in 2011. |

Search | Add | 11 | The "JFK" Quintet | In early 1960, Cannonball Adderley discovered five musicians in Washington, D.C.—the J.F.K. Quintet, named in honor of the newly elected John F. Kennedy and his ambition to change the status quo nationwide for blacks and the arts. In July 1961, six months after the inauguration, Adderley brought the group to New York's Plaza Sound Studios and produced their first Riverside album. The J.F.K. Quintet was comprised of Ray Codrington (tp), Andrew White (as), Harry Killgo (p), Walter Booker, Jr. (b) and Carl "Mickey' Newman (d). The result was the J.F.K. Quintet: New Jazz Frontiers From Washington. A second album was recorded in December '61 entitled Young Ideas The band dissolved in 1963, with White moving on to become a primary transcriber of John Coltrane's solos, Codrington recorded with Eddie Harris, and Booker became Adderley's bassist. White, who's still on the scene today, played alto and tenor saxophones with incredible energy, plus electric bass with the Fifth Dimension and Stevie Wonder, and classical oboe (which he holds at the top of this post). Once a year in Washington, D.C., he would book two rhythm sections and play a 12-hour jazz quartet gig at a club called the Top O' Foolery. And Harry Killgo was the father of Keith Killgo, the drummer with Donald Byrd and the Blackbyrds.

Per Yngve "Pelle" Ohlin, aka Dead (his stage name with Mayhem). He founded Morbid in 1986, but moved to Norway in 1988 to join Mayhem. Ohlin can be considered as one of the most important characters in the black metal scene as his persona, self-destructive behaviour and underground attitude strongly shaped the way black metal was perceived and together with Øystein Aarseth (aka Euronymous) they very much set the standards for others to follow. Life in Norway with Mayhem became very difficult however and it is rumored that he didn't enjoy this world and Euronymous put a lot of pressure on him, or even bullied him, and he most likely suffered from depression. Ohlin died by suicide on April 8th, 1991 and left a note with the lyrics for "Life Eternal", which were later used on Mayhem's "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas" album. |

Search | Add | 11 | Ryder Houston | Ryder Harrison Houston | Ryder Harrison Houston is a Philadelphia-based filmmaker and musician born and bred just outside of Dallas, Texas. At age 19, he premiered his debut feature film ‘Rapture in Blue,’ a noir-ish ode to the overwhelming gothic zeitgeist that permeated the edge of the new millennium. Included on the eponymous soundtrack composed by himself is the haunting theme ‘Wine (A Sea Of Future)’ performed by frequent collaborator and songstress Ariana Kelly. Little did they know, it was this very release which would catalyze the future of Houston's musical endeavors. As much as his evocative sound dotes on alternative pop acts Depeche Mode, Garbage, and even Madonna at her most controversial, it also seems to suggest something greater operating on the periphery: a dark, omnipresent melodrama not unlike the crooning music of David Lynch composer Angelo Badalamenti or the baroque sensibilities of Lana Del Rey. Nevertheless, Houston’s spidery vocals continue to weave clichés of lust and rock ‘n’ roll menace anew, adhering himself to a certain groovy allusion to sleazy, opium-den electronica. Plainly, it is within this blasphemous little slipstream that Ryder Houston’s unique brand of sonic nostalgia exists — a sullen musical seduction echoing back from a liminal moment in time where downtempo music and freeze-dried hip-hop beats managed to infiltrate every hot artist’s discography, mutating genre ties and birthing something wholly itself. |

Search | Add | 11 | Drawn To The Sky | Dustin Gill (born November 2nd, 1994), known professionally as Drawn To The Sky, is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer. Painted by a brilliant cascade of vibrant colors and raw emotion, Dustin uses a form of alchemy to transmute deep, relatable feelings and experiences into the medium of music. Fusing stylistic elements of both punk-rock and hip-hop, Dustin started making music in an effort to escape the realities of growing up “different” in small-town Minnesota. Generally secluded from others, he developed a variety of skills & talents, most notably playing the electric guitar. Around age 17 he started to experiment with singing and writing his own songs, mainly about the pains and heartaches of growing up. In March 2018 he released his debut EP titled Dream Trauma. Since then, Dustin has been making music under the artist name Drawn To The Sky, reflecting his endless ambition to reach the highest level of personal growth and human consciousness.

Search | Add | 11 | Orkater | Dutch theater company which originated from [a1346918]. The Orkater name is a combination of the Dutch words orkest and theater (orchestra and theatre). The company makes mostly contemporary music theatre, newly written and newly composed. Orkater cherishes the freedom with which performances are conceived, made and presented. The inevitable consequence is that no hard-and-fast policy can be followed when the repertoire is put together. In some Orkater productions, disciplines other than music theatre may have the upper hand. The location varies from a studio to a municipal theatre, from a museum to an outdoor summer festival. Although some would say that Orkater productions are always recognizable because of their "Orkater signature", they vary in character, scale and as to the cast. Orkater does not work with a regular group of performers - for many actors, musicians, directors, composers and text writers Orkater is the place where they can evolve their own ideas about music theatre. Orkater strives to present abroad those productions that are suitable for it, preferably in the language of the host country. Since the mother company [a1346918] (1972-1979) split to form De Horde (The Horde, 1981-84) and [a3939032] (The Mexican Hound, 1980 to present), there has always been confusion over the name. At the moment all productions are presented under the name Orkater, with the exception of those by writer/director Alex van Warmerdam, who operates under the name De Mexicaanse Hond. Orkater and De Mexicaanse Hond are grouped together under the umbrella of Stichting Orkater (The Orkater Foundation). Orkater has its own CD label ([l127050]). Over the years, Orkater productions have received critical acclaim from both public and press. Orkater has been honoured with numerous awards, national and international.

Search | Add | 11 | Pedro G. Marques | Pedro G. Marques started to show a deep interest in music since his early youth and began tooking piano lessons at the age of 8. Later, he joined the Vila Real Music Academy and, afterwards, the Porto Jazz School. In his teens, Pedro was a huge Metal fan but soon his horizons became wider, embracing almost every genre: Post-Punk to Easy Listening; Electronica to Jazz; Classical to Industrial. In 1990, Huska (a.k.a. Hüska Burra Mamô), a Goth/Punk/Alternative band from Vila Real, were formed. Pedro was the lead singer of Huska and the group disbanded around 1996. In 2003, he started to think about starting a solo music project and Dead by Request was born. In its beginnings, Dead by Request's music was deeply influenced by some well-known ambient/experimental icons such as Coil, Legendary Pink Dots, Klaus Schulze or Pete Namlook, but after a while its sound gained a lot more of a synthpop/electro-rock feeling, much in the vein of bands like Gary Numan, Depeche Mode, Clan of Xymox or Lou Champagne System. After composing several soundtracks for visual/photographic installations as Dead by Request, Marques formed If I Die in 2015. If I Die released four singles during 2015, but the project ended that same year. Pedro G. Marques is now making music under the name of Songs From Hidden Places.
Search | Add | 11 | Anastasi Mavrides | Anastasi Mavrides | American musician, composer and pianist, born in Pennsylvania, United States. Composer and producer Anastasi (ah nah STAH zee) knew at an early age that his love of music would play an important role in his life. After years of learning to play a variety of instruments, he went on to study music and eastern philosophy in college. It was during this time that he began to experiment with music and sounds that might be conducive to relaxation and concentration. To support himself, he played in several rock and jazz bands and in 1978 he was back-up guitarist for the Beach Boys on their “Almost Summer Tour.” Later, he and Donna O’Sullivan formed a production company called Metromusic in Mill Valley, California, which went on to produce award-winning music for commercials and film. He also created The Classical Child Series, which is a whimsical reinterpretation of traditional classical melodies. He originally came up with the idea as a way to expose his newborn daughter to the world of classical music. The Nature’s Classics Series Anastasi recorded for Real Music is a collection of popular classical pieces creatively combined with sounds of nature. They include Country Morning, Country Evening, and The Pachelbel Canon with Ocean Sounds. The latter, having sold over 300,000 copies, proved to be one of Real Music’s hottest selling titles. On The Pachelbel Canon with Ocean Sounds, Anastasi took the timeless charm of this world class piece and developed an arrangement which expands on its already meditative and inspirational qualities. The simple, yet compelling “Canon in D” melody is coupled with gentle ocean waves which unfold throughout this instrumental poetry, conjuring up vivid imagery of a distant shore. On CinemOcean, Anastasi has taken ten of the most beautiful movie themes (from composers as diverse as Vangelis, John Barry, Ennio Morricone and Ryuichi Sakamoto) and masterfully arranged them into a poignant musical tapestry. Enhanced by the rhythmic caress of ocean waves, this album creates an ideal environment for quiet thought, reflection, meditation and encouraging the magic of one's own imagination. As Anastasi says of this work, “It's evident that music can have a powerful influence on the human spirit, so what I've tried to achieve with The Pachelbel Canon and CinemOcean is a soothing pocket of relaxation and beauty that can uplift anyone who listens and inspire them to their highest potential.” |

Search | Add | 11 | Αθηνά Χαϊκάλη | Greek singer born in Hamburg, Germany. Athena liked to sing from a very young age. She joined a children's choir, played flute and engaged in dance and ballet for 7 years. She begun her career at the age of 10 when she took part in a talent competition in Germany and won the first prize. Shortly after, she released a 45-rpm record, and another record at age 13. At the age of 16, she signed a contract with the company TELDEC and created the pop group "Creative Connection" which, with the help of Marino Marinelli (manager of "Modern Talking"), immediately became known throughout Europe. At the end of the 80's the group broke up and she moved permanently to Greece pursuing a solo career. Her first recording participation is on the album "Ta 10 dekaria 2" where she participates in two songs, while the following year her first complete personal record is released by Sony Music Greece entitled "Den se fovame sex (I'm not afraid of you sex)". After an absence of five years she returns in 1996 with the album "As tous na lene (Let them say)" from which many songs became hits such as "Gine fotia", "Afto ine agapi" as well as the self-titled... In 1998 her third album is released album entitled "Ime gineka (I'm a woman)" from which also many songs became hits. After again an absence of 5 years, she returns again, releasing a maxi single with the title "Pligose me" with the song of the same name becoming a hit as well as the song "Aporo" which was also accompanied by an eccentric video clip. This is also the last CD she has released so far, since after that she retired from the music industry to devote herself to motherhood and family. In 2019, after 15 years of absence, she returned by releasing a new song entitled "Thema chronou (A matter of time)" and making some selective appearances in clubs. During the years of her career, Athena collaborated with many big names of Greek music such as: Yannis Poulopoulos, Tolis Voskopoulos, Lefteris Pantazis, Antipas, Konstantina, George Gerolymatos, Katerina Stanisi, Litsa Diamantis, Vassilis Terlegkas, Thanos Kalliris , Christos Dantes, and many others.

She first sang in public at the age of four, when she was taken by her father to a Labour Party meeting and joined in with the singing of The Red Flag. The comrades liked her voice so much that she was lifted up on to a table and was asked to sing it again. By the age of six, she was appearing on the Manchester concert halls, where she was billed as "Wee Kitty Masters." Later, she became the featured singer with the B.B.C. Dance Orchestra. She sold more than one and a half million records, the best-remembered of which was "Little Man, You've Had a Busy Day", which she recorded with Henry Hall's Orchestra.

Search | Add | 11 | 芳艷芬 | Fong Yim Fun was a famous Cantonese opera artist in the 1940s and 1950s, also known as the "Queen of Cantonese Opera", playing on stage and in over 150 movies, her sweet and mellow vocal style epitomised the tender-natured essence of the traditional Chinese woman and gave birth to a separate singing school. Setting the standard for "fa dan" (female principal) roles in Cantonese Opera, she enjoyed screen fame when films like "Mysterious Murder" and "She says 'No' to Marriage" were released in 1951, the theme songs also proving hugely popular. In 1953, Fong founded the Chik Lei (Zhili) Film Company developing a more active role in film production, also adapting many of her operatic masterpieces for the screen including "Hongling’s Blood", "Belle of Penang", and "The Sweepstakes Seller". Fong gave up her career marrying in 1959. In 1984, she founded the Kwan Fong Charitable Foundation to promote Chinese culture which saw her comeback to the stage in aid of charitable causes between 1987 and 1997.

Search | Add | 11 | Target Shoppers | Stoke-On-Trent noise rock trio. The music covers many genres and is really quite difficult to pigeonhole. Songs were often extremely short, one is a second long. The only instruments are guitar, bass and drums, with the three members swapping instruments on each track. A big feature is the use of absurd and grotesque lyrics, all written by Marky Loo Loo, mostly when he was a teenager. Aside from many tape cassettes and their split 7" with Melt-Banana, their only full length vinyl album was bankrolled and distributed by West Yorkshire experimental music and alcohol fanzine Just Glittering (the precursor to Idwal Fisher). After being on hold since 2001, the band came back together in 2011 and started work on a new album.
