Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 11 The New Princes Toronto Band In 1923 Sam Laschiver, who was the booking agent for fashionable 'Rector's Club' in Tottenham Court Road, London, met up with Toronto saxophonist [a=Hal Swain] in Canada. Swain gathered together a band of young jazz musicians, which Laschivier called "The Toronto Orchestra" and they were duly booked on a one year contract for the London club. This band were: Hal Swain (sax/cornet); Billy Hall (trombone/sax); Frank Walsh (piano/organ); Dave Caplan (banjo); Ran Garrison (sousaphone, trombone & sax); Ken Kenny (drums). On arrival in the UK the band found the club had closed. Laschiver got them a booking at the 'New Princes Restaurant' in Piccadilly and the band became resident there for two years - thus becoming "The New Princes Toronto Band". The band recorded in London on the Columbia label between Nov 1924 & Feb 1926. Some recordings were made for the Crystalate company under pseudonyms, as the band were contracted to Columbia. Labels for these were 'Imperial', 'Currys', 'Oliver', 'Pigmy' and 'Mimosa'. The 'disguised' band also issued on 'Regal'. Swain departed in 1926 and Caplan became the leader of the band (now with Harry Hoffman and Art Christmas) taking on his name as "[a=Dave Caplan's Toronto Band]". By the time this band toured Berlin in the summer of 1926 the line-up had changed further; Dave Caplan, Les Allen, Lorne Cole, Harry Hoffman, Laurie Day, Art Christmas, Arthur Lousley, Arthur Calkin & Jack Collins.

Search Add 11 Ganjaguru Nick Chia For the last 5 years, Ganjaguru has been carving a niche in the hard dance scene but his recent success over the last 3 has created a well-built reputation making his name a buzzword on the Malaysian and Melbourne circuit scene. The co-founder of the Bass Agents, Ganjaguru can be seen playing a diverse range of hard funk, tech-trance, hard techno, Nu-Nrg, hard trance, hard house and hardstyle. His focus; hard driving relentless basslines. Their crew consists of Ganjaguru, Xt-Acid & Didjital. They all decided to go under the name Bass Agents and later that year formed Chronictraxxx their own Hard Dance label, which they will use to release their own stuff in the future. During his shows, it's typical to see him grabbing, twisting and manipulating clusters of knobs buttons and faders, all precisely moved to follow his momentary sonic path. They often call him "the devastator," chasing the inspiration flowing through him manipulating the sound. Nothing is planned until seconds before it occurs, and when it does, it is extremely deliberate. Sometimes daring and unexpected but strangely fitting sounds are injected into the system on the fly, displaying a true love for his craft. Not afraid to experiment, he risks humiliation before thousands. It was history in the making when Ganjaguru was called upon to play alongside headline acts such as the Organ Donors, Dj Wag and Dave Joy at the first ever rave event to be held in China, at the Guang Zhou Olympic Stadium on NYE 2005. History was made as communist China opened its doors for the first time, and introduced 30,000 new Chinese ravers to the sounds of Western Hard Dance. To date, Ganjaguru has played alongside the Organ Donors, Yakooza, Alex Kidd, Lady Dana, The Prophet, Gizmo, Technikal (Kompression Records), Steve Hill (Masif), Dark By Design, Phil York, Andy Whitby, Paul Brisk, Dave Joy, Carl Nicholson, Charlotte Birch, D-10, Andy Whitby, Hellraiser, Yoshi and Dj Nervous. As for the future adventures of Ganjaguru, it is anyone's guess, but a good bet would be a new mix CD reflecting his latest musical evolution and perhaps some new original music as well. We asked about the future and he said: "You'll see me pushing the music and cultural boundaries while staying connected to the evolution of my principles. Keep it tidy, keep it real and keep it hard!"

Search Add 11 John Mancini John started writing songs on a cross-country road trip he took after graduating from Rhode Island School of Design. He began performing regularly when he moved to Southern Mississippi in 2004. Returning to his hometown of Baltimore, MD, in 2007, he started JMB, recorded two full-length award-winning albums and toured the Mid-Atlantic from NY to VA until 2012. In 2013, John moved to California to pursue an MFA in Creative Writing. He recently settled in the Bay Area where he recorded Halfway Home, his second EP of 2015. He then formed the newgrass group, Broken Barrels and released their debut album, A Little off the Top, in 2016. Seeking a balance of melody, groove and message, John has published more than forty songs since his 2009 debut, which was praised by Billboard, Relix, Glide, Big Takeover Magazine and others for its songwriting and musicianship. Honing a lyrical folk-rock aesthetic that has come to define his sound, John draws from an Americana tradition shared by artists like Ryan Adams, Tom Petty, Gram Parsons, John Fogerty and Dr. John. His songs have played on non-com radio stations across the country and in Europe. They have also appeared on film and TV in the U.S. and abroad and received praise from top music blogs.

Search Add 11 SparkleJet Fresno, California Sparklejet is the tried and true, all-American rock band. Born in the unlikely agricultural hub of Central California, the Fresno-based group has settled into a stripped-down, power-trio lineup where they find themselves at the height of their ability to convey uncompromising power and urgency. The band bounces effortlessly across the rock landscape, drawing from the likes of past and current heroes including The Replacements, Pixies, Hüsker Dü, The Kinks, Guided By Voices, The Police, Foo Fighters, Devo, Led Zeppelin, and The Who. Speaking of Townshend and the boys, Sparklejet performed its own rendition of The Who's "Tommy" in 2002. Sparklejet's 11-track album, Beyond the Beyond, was released on Los Angeles-based Long Live Crime Records. The trio's earlier releases include 1998's This Year's Model and 2001's Bar Guest. On Beyond the Beyond, Sparklejet strayed from the usual Fresno recording studios and instead worked with Steve Albini (Pixies, Nirvana, PJ Harvey) at his Electrical Audio studio in Chicago. The band's latest recording, 2014's Phonovella, has been released on the Narcissus Records imprint. The 13-track album features the band expanding and refining its approach to the three-piece rock band format. Sparklejet has toured throughout the Northwest, having shared the stage with bands like Kaito, Silversun Pickups, Earlimart, the Mother Hips, Radar Bros., Pine Martin, the High Speed Scene and others. The trio has been featured in Billboard Magazine's Best New Artist spotlight, and their music has been used on ESPN's "Extreme Games." They have not taken a contrived, anti-social punk rock stance or infused their music with any such self-defeating message. Simply put, they don't try to be anything except who they are by nature. No trendy clothes, no fancy haircuts, just rock.

Search Add 11 August Albo August Albo (11 September 1893 Suurupi, Harju County – 13 December 1963 New York City, USA) was an Estonian artist who studied at the Russian Royal Academy of Art but lived most of his life in New York City. The actual date of his death is unknown, most sources saying 1963 (which is most likely correct), although some individuals claim that they commissioned him to do portraits well into the 1980s. The details of his life are obscure, with no sure sources, but most seem to agree that he painted for the Czar in Moscow before the Russian Revolution. As a young man, he was also said to have been a ballet dancer (which may account for some of his most known work being of ballerinas), and a professional violinist. During the beginning of his painting career, he focused on abstract art. However, through appreciation for works from the old school of painting, he started painting with more realism. He was a very versatile artist, and could paint any given subject with incredible detail. He painted all over the world, particularly in cities with renowned ballets, such as Paris, Moscow, and Berlin. His most famous work was "Free as the Wind", a painting depicting running horses. There are believed to be only 5 of these original "Free as the Wind" paintings in existence. He is also known for his ballerina paintings. One of his lesser known works was of Merike Sheinkin as a child, and he also painted a scene called "Ocean Views" depicting two small boats on a rocky beach. It is uncertain what his real name was, but he would often sign paintings as "Rod Palmer" or "A. Curtis" in addition to simply "Albo".

Search Add 11 Per Yngve Ohlin Per Yngve Ohlin Swedish death/black metal vocalist and songwriter, born January 16, 1969 in Västerhaninge, Sweden, died April 8, 1991 in Kråkstad, Norway by suicide. Per Yngve "Pelle" Ohlin, aka Dead (his stage name with Mayhem). He founded Morbid in 1986, but moved to Norway in 1988 to join Mayhem. Ohlin can be considered as one of the most important characters in the black metal scene as his persona, self-destructive behaviour and underground attitude strongly shaped the way black metal was perceived and together with Øystein Aarseth (aka Euronymous) they very much set the standards for others to follow. Life in Norway with Mayhem became very difficult however and it is rumored that he didn't enjoy this world and Euronymous put a lot of pressure on him, or even bullied him, and he most likely suffered from depression. Ohlin died by suicide on April 8th, 1991 and left a note with the lyrics for "Life Eternal", which were later used on Mayhem's "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas" album.

Search Add 11 Tsippi Fleischer Tsippi Fleischer (b. 1946, Israel) -- Composer Tsippi Fleischer was born in Haifa, Israel, in 1946. Her parents, Polish-born Jewish pioneers - Yaacov Fleischer from the city of Krakow and Shoshana, nee Mehl, from the Jewish shtetl Rimanov - met in Palestine. Before Tsippi was born her father's entire family had already perished during the Holocaust. As a three-year-old she was already improvising at the piano. In time she studied piano and theory formally at the Rubin Conservatory of Music, Haifa, and matriculated from Haifa's Reali School in the oriental stream. In 1978, she married the eminent comparative linguist Prof. Aharon Dolgopolsky (1930-2012), who had reached Israel from Moscow during the wave of Russian immigration of the 70s. In 1982 their son Yaacov Dolgopolsky was born; today the young man's interests lie in a combination of the fields of biblical studies, history and theater. In spite of her widespread activities throughout the world, Tsippi has never abandoned her hometown for any other place of residence. She grew up in a Jewish-Arab environment and the ambience of co-existence characterizing the city of Haifa flows naturally into her creative oeuvre. Her academic degrees include: BMus in theory, composition and conducting - the Rubin Academy of Music, Jerusalem; BA in Hebrew Language, Arabic Language, Literature and History of the Middle East - Tel Aviv University; Music Teacher's Diploma - the Levinsky College of Education, Tel Aviv; MA in Music Education - New York University; MA in Semitic Linguistics - Tel Aviv University; PhD in Musicology - Bar Ilan University, Israel. Her doctoral thesis focused on historical research into the origins of Cherubini's Médée and on an in-depth analysis, using a combination of Heinrich Schenker's and Jan LaRue's analytical methods.

She begun her career at the age of 10 when she took part in a talent competition in Germany and won the first prize. Shortly after, she released a 45-rpm record, and another record at age 13. At the age of 16, she signed a contract with the company TELDEC and created the pop group "Creative Connection" which, with the help of Marino Marinelli (manager of "Modern Talking"), immediately became known throughout Europe. At the end of the 80's the group broke up and she moved permanently to Greece pursuing a solo career. Her first recording participation is on the album "Ta 10 dekaria 2" where she participates in two songs, while the following year her first complete personal record is released by Sony Music Greece entitled "Den se fovame sex (I'm not afraid of you sex)". After an absence of five years she returns in 1996 with the album "As tous na lene (Let them say)" from which many songs became hits such as "Gine fotia", "Afto ine agapi" as well as the self-titled... In 1998 her third album is released album entitled "Ime gineka (I'm a woman)" from which also many songs became hits. After again an absence of 5 years, she returns again, releasing a maxi single with the title "Pligose me" with the song of the same name becoming a hit as well as the song "Aporo" which was also accompanied by an eccentric video clip. This is also the last CD she has released so far, since after that she retired from the music industry to devote herself to motherhood and family. In 2019, after 15 years of absence, she returned by releasing a new song entitled "Thema chronou (A matter of time)" and making some selective appearances in clubs. During the years of her career, Athena collaborated with many big names of Greek music such as: Yannis Poulopoulos, Tolis Voskopoulos, Lefteris Pantazis, Antipas, Konstantina, George Gerolymatos, Katerina Stanisi, Litsa Diamantis, Vassilis Terlegkas, Thanos Kalliris , Christos Dantes, and many others.
Search Add 11 Jennifer McCray Jennifer McCray is a singer / songwriter. Growing up as a part of a musical family, Jennifer's father being a successful recording artist landing a number 1 hit in the 70's with the song "Rock your baby" had given her the opportunity to experience music at a very young age. Jennifer started writing poetry at the young age of 6 years old and has been given singing lessons as well as singing in the church choir . Born in Miami Beach Florida, Jennifer moved to Canada (where her mother is from) and at 17 ventured off to Europe for the first time where her father was living. During a recording session in a studio in Belgium, Jennifer met her future manager Ronny Flas who exclusively signed her as an artist of TSP Records. From then on Jennifer decided to pursue a career in music by experimenting with different styles and writing all her own songs. She got the chance to work in Metropolis studios in London with her first single "Do Anything" a song written by Hawk Wolinski. After a lot of work in songwriting for herself and for other artists as Silvano for which she composed the song "Encore" that reached N°3 in the charts, Jennifer is really concentrating on her debut album. The first single released out of this album was "Connected". It reached N°2 in the charts. After the singles "Connected", "In Your Head" and "Letting Me Go" Jennifer will soon release her first album.

Wilson The smooth yet uniquely quirky sound that is: michael ЯR wilson Music has always been a part of Michael’s life in one form or another – from singing Blue Skies when cooking Yorkshire puddings in the kitchen, to breakdancing to one of the many 80’s hit musical creations, all the while embracing a diverse library of music and song writing through experience and expression. The results being rewarding and simultaneously addictive. Michael’s musical influences are vast and include Tom Petty, Prince, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Blue Rodeo, Supertramp and the less likely genres of classical music and old time country which ground his soul! Michael’s music style is reflective of his passion for music, life, love, and the freedom to create. Michael finds music to be an inspiration as he continues on the road of self-discovery and exploration with his guitar in hand. As an established Chef de cuisine who enjoys creating culinary delights, Michael began to dabble into the creative aspects of music. With a successful career and happy home life, Michael was looking for a new avenue to express himself. It started by picking up a guitar and signing casually with friends, learning new chords along the way! Fast forward a few years, and following his return to his hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, music took a new hold of his soul. Developing his singer/songwriter skills, Michael grew as a musician and learnt to play drums, bass and piano. This lead to his interest in the recording and mixing aspects of producing songs, and he embraced the challenge of a home recording studio. Along the way, the want turned to need to progress, and so was born Supry Sound Productions. Since, more singles have been written, recorded, produced and mixed in this same space, many more instruments have joined the first guitar, and collaborations with other artists are on the horizon.

Search Add 11 Starpimp Star Pimp Star Pimp was one of those bands that defied any sort of good description that could really capture what they sounded like. The result of their legitimately weird brand of bizarro noise-rock left them without much exposure during their time together, and they are now one of those often overlooked and forgotten gems from the early to mid-nineties era. Star Pimp released their first single/EP, Treasure Trail, in 1992 through bassist Tom Flynn’s own record label Boner Records; the band eventually put out one full length for the label, titled "Seraphim 280z" in 1994 before making the move to Kill Rock Stars for their second and final album in 1996 titled Docudrama.

Search Add 11 Pacific Range Pacific Range is rooted in the beautiful, sunshiny-coast of California. The band’s style takes from many influences ranging from The Allman Brothers and Grateful Dead, to The Band and The Flying Burrito Brothers. Seamus Turner (guitar & vocals) and Nate Ward (drums) met around 2013 while studying music at Chico State. After jamming together and discovering a strong musical connection they formed the band Dakota Cree. They utilized the university’s recording studio to record an EP and soon began performing for different school events and playing local clubs around town. The group went through several incarnations, graduations, and moves and eventually landed in Los Angeles. They evolved into a five-piece with bassist Cameron Wehrle, keyboardist & guitarist Stewart Forgey and singer Jade. Cameron met Nate and Seamus at the Hotel Cafe and bonded with them over a love for the Allman Brothers. He then brought along Stewart, a high school friend of Cameron’s, and ex-band-mate from the group Echophonix. Last but definitely not least, Jade, joined through a chance encounter, completing the full Range. In March their debut, double-LP, High Upon the Mountain, was released through Curation Records. The record was produced by Dan Horne (Circles Around the Sun) and features special guests such as Duane Betts, Nikki Segal, Clay Finch and Sam Blasucci (Mapache).
