Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 29/07/2025

Found 602638 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Elastic Collision Between the year 1999 and 2001, Frank Ashley, Jr. and Ken Moore started meeting on a weekly basis to record improvised sessions direct to disc. The entire set-up filled two rooms with only two synthesizers (a Minimoog and an Emax by Emu Systems) and a lot of percussion. There were cymbals, gongs, bells, hand drums, triangles, a glockenspiel, bar chimes, hanging wind chimes, singing bowls and bowls that were made to sing. Frank played the keyboards for these recordings, creating short sequences on the Emax and leads on the Moog, while Ken moved about from table to table, playing whatever instruments were speaking to him at the time. They called themselves Elastic Collision, and their first album was completely live; it was titled "Listening at the Speed of Sleep". After that sold well to friends, Anvil Creations produced one other album called "Visitors Welcome". On this one, Ken added some percussion tracks to all the sessions, and played the bass guitar on some of them.

Search Add 2 Fanja Fanjasoa Rakotondrahaja Originally from Antsirabe in the highlands of Madagascar, the singer with multiple vocal inflections, Fanjasoa Rakotondrahaja aka Fanja Pheshoe or Fanja, is the daughter of the songwriter Andrianasolo Rakotondrahaja and the granddaughter of a famous organist and harmonium player. It was therefore quite natural that she began singing at the age of 6 in the Tiana Sy Fanja choir. from the Evangelical Lutheran church in her neighborhood where she works on her voice and perfects herself. At the age of 15, Fanja began professionally as a backing vocalist in various groups, including Rolf of the singer-bassist Rolf Razafindrakoto known as Rolf Raza, Ny Ainga of the singer Rabesaiky Guillaume Marie aka Om-Gui or the author, composer and performer Jarifa. At seventeen, she took up keyboards and accompanied the choir of the Evangelical Lutheran church. Eager to “multiply and diversify collaborations with experts in animation and stage performance”, Fanja collaborates with various artists, including Monika Njava, initiator of the group Njava family. From 2006, she performed as a duo with her husband Miary Lepiera (author, composer, arranger, guitarist). In 2008, she participated in the first part of “Groove Power Project” (GPP) initiated by Roots Power, a multicultural production company whose aim is to explore the music of the South of Madagascar by promoting collaborations artistic and the fusion of styles. This first meeting brings together Monja Manintsindava, a prominent figure in the Antandroy culture of the far south of the Big Island (valiha, violin, marovany, voice), Miary Lepiera, expert guitarist, and Fanja, singer with a soulful voice. The trio thus created tours throughout Madagascar, broadcasting a fusion of “beko” (traditional music from the Antandroy of the South), “batrelaky” (song celebrating the harvests in the South-East), electro and techno. This first Groove Power Project will result in the production of “Tekokekoke”, a video clip for the trio produced by Roots Power. Subsequently, Fanja moved towards Afro-pop and Afro-fusion styles, a mixture of Malagasy sounds, pop, soul, blues, jazz, R&B or electro. Fanja will be part of the fourth generation of Feon'Ala in alongside Sahala Fialofa Niniana and Patricia Kembavola, all three singer-dancers, and choreographer-dancers Lo-Shenie Noronantenaina known as Shaniah and Vero Saholy Raharimalala. This famous female group was founded at the very beginning of the 1980s by the songwriter Charles Maurin Poty Envoyer des commentaires

Search Add 2 Huw Edward Jones Huw Edward Jones was born in North Wales around 1974. He started singing at the age of 4 and through the next seven years he participated in many Welsh festivals of literature and song Eisteddfod, on which he achieved many successes. An important event in his child's career was also a performance at the famous London concert hall Royal Albert Hall. Huw, with ease and mastery, performs traditional Welsh songs, supported in some songs by a female choir. Surprisingly, the boy did not continue his career and his recordings today remain, quite wrongly, musical curiosities known only to a handful of interested people.

Lalah (Judy’s middle name, which she’s gone by since 1979) returned to California after the Womenfolk and has continued to write songs and occasionally perform. Over the years she also worked as an office manager, a ghostwriter and a personal counselor. During the 80’s she moved to Virginia, where she and her husband are now retired with their dog and four birds after 12 years’ ownership of the Bluegrass Grill and Bakery in Charlottesville. She has a daughter, a son and a granddaughter, all of whom are speaking to her, and like Jean plays mostly keyboard these days. Lalah is a selectively avid fiction reader, enjoys long walks with the family dog, and can teach anyone who can learn 3 chords to accompany themselves by ear on the piano. Her CD of original songs, “Lightspeed,” is a sort of autobiography beginning in the Womenfolk years. See more about Lalah on her website, www.jlalahsimcoe.com.

Search Add 2 Orchestra IN-stabile DIS/accordo The Orchestra In-stabile Dis/Accordo [O.I.D.] was founded by Luca Lo Bianco and Francesco Guaiana and represents one of the most significant and innovative experiences produced in Italy in recent years and is able to transport the audience into an emotional and unpredictable musical event. By using a non conventional method of directing the orchestra, which is known worldwide as ‘conduction’, and using signs, gestures and also written melodic lines, the audience can witness the music being born right there and is an active protagonist of the creative procedure. The O.I.D. stems from the expressive urgency of a new generation of improvisers, looking for a creative form crossing all languages and not necessarily falling under any label. The orchestra recorded two cd 'Live at Mikalsa Vol.1' and 'Live in Hamburg' recorded live at the prestigious 'Hamburg Jazz Tage' in Germany by Norddeutscher Rundfunk.

Search Add 2 Karl-Heinz Pinhammer Born: Febuary 29, 1936 - Germany Died: May 2, 1985 - Germany The German baritone, Karl-Heinz Pinhammer, came from a family, where music played a certain role, but nobody except Karl-Heinz made a career in this topic. His father was an engine driver, his older brother became a well known businessman. He left the Gymnasium aged 17, passed the entrance examination to music school (most probably in Wuppertal) - and earned some money as a organ player in church. His singing studies took place from 1957 to 1963 in Berlin with famous singers Walther Ludwig and Herbert Brauer. In 1966, Karl-Heinz Pinhammer became a fellow Professor (Dozent) at Hannover Music Academy (Musikhochschule) and later on Professor. From 1978, he taught at Lübeck Music Academy (Musikhochschule). There are recordings beginning in the year 1968, in the first line J.S. Bach Cantatas, but also Lieder by Schubert, Wolf, and R. Strauss. In addition to the classical music he was also facing the modern composition. His last last recital dates form March 5, 1985 performing Schubert’s Winterreise. Two months later, a traffic accident stopped his career abruptly, he died on May 2, 1985.
