Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Was cremated at „Amurg” Crematory, București. In early 1920's was hired by Zissu (from Macedonian origin) to sing in his restaurant „La Zissu” from București, located where now is „Intercontinetal” Hotel. He sang preferably french chanson's, although his great specialty was improvisation. With rhymes received from the public, each more strange, he improvise lyrics and songs with amazing facility. Autumn 1928 - „La Zissu” restaurant owner, hired new singer to sing along with Pagoni. This new singer working as accountant at „Crissoveloni” Bank and his name was [a1002338]. Early 1930 - Pagoni was hired at Romanian Broadcasting Society ([l292564]) as musical controller and musical editor. He continued to sing and write lyrics. 1936 - jury member for Romanian Broadcasting Society Music Contest, where Eugenia Braia (known as [a1175689]) debuted and won along side Eugenia Nedelea (known as [a2538125]). The jury was formed by Alfred Pagoni-Fredon, composers [a982179], [a922460], pianist [a4031786] ([a838226]'s pianist), opera singer Valentina Crețu. There was over 800 candidates. 1944, August 24 - Alfred Pagoni with other co-workers died when Romanian Broadcasting Society building was destroyed in the latest bombardment of german army in World War II.

Search Add 7 Bagga Matumbi Lannie Glenmore Fagan Lannie Glenmore "Bevin" Fagan (aka Bagga Matumbi), singer, songwriter and record producer, born May 11 1953; died April 3 2008 Born near Kingston, Jamaica, Fagan moved to the UK aged seven and settled in Battersea, south-west London, where his father was minister of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion church; Fagan first learned to sing there and the soulful voices of visiting brethren from church branches in the US influenced his singing. While attending Spencer Park secondary school, Wandsworth, Fagan became friendly with Barbados-born Dennis Bovell, who had already formed a psychedelic rock band called Stonehenge with another Caribbean immigrant classmate, Errol Pottinger, on lead vocals. Although never officially a member of Stonehenge, Fagan demonstrated his ability to harmonise with Bovell and Pottinger in the school playground. Stonehenge disbanded in 1970 and from its ashes rose Matumbi, a Yoruba word signifying rebirth. Although the group already had Pottinger and Tex Dixon handling vocals, Bovell recruited Fagan, who had briefly worked as a bank clerk after leaving school, to allow for three-part vocal harmony. In its early days, Matumbi gained kudos backing visiting Jamaican stars Ken Boothe and I-Roy, sharing the stage with luminaries including Peter Tosh. Their earliest recording, a cover version of Hot Chocolate's Brother Louie, led by Bovell, gained them a contract with Trojan records, who also issued Wipe Them Out, the first release featuring Fagan on lead vocals, as well as the significantly more popular After Tonight, led by Pottinger. Their reputation was boosted by a cover version, with Fagan on lead, of The Man in Me, a Bob Dylan song the group first became aware of when covered by the Persuaders; Matumbi's rendition was the bestselling British reggae single of 1976. Tired of being pigeonholed as a covers band and generally displeased by Trojan's strategy, Matumbi broke away after a problematic period that saw Dixon, keyboardist Nick Bailey and Pottinger moving on, resulting in Fagan being promoted to official lead vocalist and his younger brother Glaister joining the group. In 1978, the revitalised band signed to EMI's Harvest label, and the resultant album, Seven Seals, contained the nostalgic Blue Beat and Ska, as well as the theme song to the television series Empire Road, which Fagan had a large hand in writing. They also toured extensively with Ian Dury and the Blockheads, which broadened their following, while band members were also involved in side projects, including one featuring Fagan's older sister Sylvia, who recorded under the name Guardian Angel. Matumbi's follow-up album, Point of View, with several songs co-written by Fagan, provided a pinnacle of popularity when its title track reached No 35 in the UK pop charts in 1979. Their final eponymous disc for EMI, and their 1982 album Testify, recorded in Jamaica and co-produced by Fagan and drummer Euton Jones, were less successful. (Source: The Guardian)

Search Add 7 Terrazza Büke Yolaçan TERRAZZA real name/born Büke Yolaçan is an electronic music producer. His interest in electronic music started in high school years. First, he experimented with amateur music applications but soon he discovered ability to create his own tracks and that was the beginning of his interest in musical production. He further developed skills on his own and entered to Turkey's music competitions. Since then, he has taken over the decks both single-handedly and B2B with other DJs at various clubs and outdoor events in Oulu, Jyväskylä and Kuopio, playing genres from house to future house. In recent years however, he has found a passion in house music, and is ambitious about spreading the love for deeper sounds. He has worked on many productions since then and the turning point in his musical career was a possibility to distribute his own tracks through record label Spinnup. That opened a way for him to the wider audience. Under his alias TERRAZZA, Costa Del Sol is the most known track of him. Keep your eyes on Spotify channel as new releases are coming soon!

Search Add 7 Waked Lunch Waked Lunch is the side-project of Rosemary Haskins. Born from the ventromedial prefrontal cortex of the brain, Waked Lunch is an experimental project that utilizes atmospheric sounds, samplers, strings, and other more common instruments such as drums, guitar, and synths. Inspired by William Burroughs and Angelo Badalamenti, the music is dark and melancholy, though somewhat frenzied, and often edited using Burroughs' writing technique "the Cut-Up Method." Waked Lunch was birthed, after Rosemary worked on experimental jazz saxophonist Steve Mackay's, (of Iggy Pop and the Stooges, Violent Femmes, Radon Ensemble, etc. notoriety), latest album, "Sometimes Like This I Talk" Engineering these sessions, along with sessions with "the Queen of Noise," Leslie Keffer, introduced Rosemary to a completely different world... a world outside of the more mainstream, but ever still "indie," rock, pop , and Americana music Rosemary had been not only writing and recording herself, but also producing and engineering for other bands of the same or similar genres. Waked Lunch is the next outlet, a huge outlet, that allows Rosemary to step way outside of the boxes she had previously housed her musical talents in. Though Rosemary is the primary composer for Waked Lunch, she also enlists the help of her best friend, and multi-instrumentalist Josh Esref Guntel. Josh, like Rosemary, is from Nashville, TN. He has been playing and writing music since he was a kid, and is proudly of Turkish descent. Josh plays numerous instruments, including the piano, organ, synthesizer, guitar, bass, cumbus, drums, percussion and more. Josh has the rare ability to pick up virtually any instrument, and begin playing it, without prior lessons or knowledge of the instrument, making him an invaluable asset for the Waked Lunch project. Rosemary and Josh have been in several different bands together in the past, covering more traditional genres like rock, pop, electro, and americana. You can find a lot of info on the different bands they have played in at the official websites for WaterWorks Entertainment and Black Label Empire. https://www.waterworksentertainment.com https://www.blacklabelempire.com A live Waked Lunch show, is a bit unique, in that they almost always play to film. They regularly use film projectors to display various video art, and sometimes clips from movies they have scored to. All of the sound is engineered by Rosemary via her own mixing board, and then a stereo out is run to the front of house. This allows Rosemary to have complete control over the sounds Waked Lunch uses, and is an integral part of the live shows. Though sometimes a solo performance, with Rosemary, exclusively, Waked Lunch often have local musicians join into their live shows. This allows for a more "experimental" show, as it is all completely unrehearsed and spontaneous... it's what makes every Waked Lunch show different from the last. If you are looking for something just a bit different, with influences of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Yo La Tengo, Mogwai, and Nine Inch Nails, with a hint of soundtrack, new-age, space-age music, Waked Lunch is just the dish you've always wanted to order! Search Add 7 Joi Noir Joi Noir are a euphoric alt-cult-rock band who have been compared to the Banshees mainly due to the presence of enigmatic Russian chanteuse Olga Gallo. Joi Noir take their name from their (erstwhile) constituent parts, namely Olga Gallo (voice), Igor Plotnikov (guitars) and their late drummer Jack Kuznetsov. Both hailing from Russia, Olga and Igor met in Moscow and moved to Pointe-Noire, Republic of Congo – hence the Noir in their moniker – before decamping to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and eventually relocating to the city of Barcelona. Joi Noir’s raw, minimalist approach harkens back to new wave, industrial and post punk bands. The band's expansive travels offer international experience and a universal edge to the duo’s lithe and lo-fi resurrection of post-punk spark with a graceful touch of modern sheen.
