Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 12 Fojetta Vincenzo Foglietta Vincenzo Foglietta, aka Fojetta (Foligno, July 29, 1940 - Foligno, March 22, 1980), was an Italian singer-songwriter, musician and radio host.He began his musical passion at the age of 16, performing in various Italian and French venues. In 1964 he reached Milan, the city of Italian discography par excellence, signing a recording contract with Alberto Airoldi's Durium, which offered some of his 45 rpm recordings: "Voglio cambia aria/l denti" Durium Ld A 7734 (1971), songs censored in Italy, but engraved in Spanish, German, French, English and even in Slavic, obtaining a good response abroad. In what was then Yugoslavia it sold more than 300,000 copies, reaching the top of sales, while in Argentina it was chosen as the theme song for important pop music television broadcasts. This success was followed by another 45 rpm records. In 1972, again Durium - Ld A 7763 "L'associazione/ll corno rosso". In 1974 he recorded for Durium Ld A 7861 "Me ne Vado in campagna/Suga suga. In 1975 Durium "Cocca mia/Lu telefunu". Inspired by nature, he travels around the countryside, recording everything that can inspire him traditional-popular music and this is exactly what made him plan the album entitled "Dall' Umbria con...folclore" recorded and distributed by Durium ms M 77329 in 1973. It was precisely this recording project that made him assign the "Paroliere" award by the music critics held in Monticelli Terme in Parma for 3 consecutive years. Numerous times guest in national television broadcasts, arriving to personally conduct radio programs of Radio Montecarlo. In 1977 Durium released the 45 RPM records "La vita è bella/Ma che confusione". As well as "L'ascesa" and "La storia della vita". Following the successes obtained, Fojetta was preparing a new 33 rpm work, based on new research into traditional music, but all this could not see the light due to his early death.

Search Add 12 Jason Smark Jason Smark Jason Smark is a multi-instrumentalist and beat programmer from the Sunshine State. His large body of work supersedes his contemporaries exponentially in both quantity and quality as dozens of one-to-two hour long collections remain unpublished among his already vast expanse of releases. His electronic based sounds seem to organically transform and grow. Having been compared to peers as avant-garde as Matthewdavid, Venetian Snares and Satanicpornocultshop, it is no wonder his seemingly psychedelic-induced songs reflect better the complexities of a creature than a song itself. Smark may as well be a scientist mixing sounds in place of chemicals, constantly creating and reinventing new species of life.

Search Add 12 Jordan Wayne Lee Jordan Wayne Lee Jordan Wayne Lee creates experimental instrumental rock music based in Los Angeles, California. Creating atmospheric and ambient soundscapes inspired by nature, ambient sounds and a spiritual lens. Songs are created with guitars looping and layering multiple effects in single takes and combining with layering unconventional tones through a 1971 Fender Rhodes.
His goal is to explore layers of noise with self-imposed restrictions. Finding complexity within tones and effects while taking a minimal approach to recording and composition. As an art director and designer, he approaches the tonality, notation, composition and arrangements from a designed perspective integrating tempo and composition that is heavily influenced through the use of the golden ratio, grids and design fundamentals as sound explorations. Jordan grew up playing in a number of punk rock, shoegaze and hardcore bands in the Pacific Northwest on the outskirts of the Seattle grunge scene. Later he went on to play in multiple projects in TN, studying music, theology and communications in college and playing in a number of bands opening for national touring acts. Life led him in a different direction through digital design - working with major global brands - and he stepped away from music for almost a decade. This is a collection of work from life experience, design and spirituality.

Search Add 11 Mykynes Marco van der Zwart Mykynes is a project founded by [a=marco svarda] in 2005, to replace his former DJ Marin-handle. The name is derived from one of the Faroe Islands (Føroyar) and inspiration for it came from a visit to the islands. Unofficial releases of Mykynes started circulating in 2008, but never materialized into official signings. After 2011, Marco used his Mykynes-project merely for bootleg remixes and DJ-performances. The project returned to original works in 2018, after Marco joined the platform Choon. Some of the unofficial releases such as 'Gravity', 'Mykines' and 'For The Love Of An Angel' have been completely reworked and rereleased on Choon. 'Any Given Day' was the first fully original production as Mykynes, and got released on Choon in July 2019. While running a remix contest on Any Given Day, Choon went out of business. This forced the decision to use Any Given Day as the first official release on the newly established label [l=Premier League Recordings]. The track came out in November 2019, with an additional remix from [a=Lumin-8]. Not long after, the best remixes from the contest have been released on the label as well. With Marco Svarda used a bit broader in terms of genres and styles, Marco will continue Mykynes next to it, as a dedicated trance-project. The Mykynes sound covers a wide BPM range, and is characterized by dreamy sounds and tracks build as (part of) a journey. Very melodic, and emotional.

Search Add 11 Han Hong Hán Hóng Singer/songwriter of ethnic Tibetan and Han Chinese origin, born in Xigaze in 1971. Her mother is a well known Tibetan folk singer and although she wanted to follow in her mother's steps, a love for pop music made her chose a different path. Her music mainly deals with Tibetan themes but she is also influenced by Jazz, R-n-B, Rock-n-Roll and Latin music, which are all reflected in her work. She is able to shift quite easily from piercing high pitches to soft low tones. Han Hong is also one of the few famous singers in China who is also an accomplished songwriter. Since she started composing in 1993 she has written a number of popular songs for other singers. The rise to stardom came unexpected to many people in her surroundings since she didn't have the typical looks associated with a successful popstar. She has now established her own label intending to explore and train more talented singers, giving them a helping hand on the rocky road. Search Add 11 Rama Polderman Rama Polderman (Born March 27th 1924 Magelang, Indonesia - died April 18th 2004 The Hague, The Netherlands), was a doctor, yoga teacher and magician. He was one of the first to bring yoga to The Netherlands from Asia. Polderman started the "Stichting Yoga Nederland" (Dutch Yoga Foundation) in 1957, nowadays better known as "Stichting Yoga en Vedanta". Polderman was the son of a Dutch engineer in the city of Magelang in the province of Mid-Java in Indonesia; his mother died during the delivery. Polderman is named after the king and Hindu god Rama. Polderman's father was practised theosophy. Polderman also claimed to have been a clairvoyant since his childhood. In 1942 he started his studies in medicine on Batavia, but after the Japanese invasion that same year, he and his father were thrown in an internment camp. There he was able to further study medicine through the lessons of other interned professors in medicine and through the practices in the camp hospital. Another prisoner taught him magic and he got in touch with the Vedanta philosophy. After the liberation of Indonesia he left for The Netherlands and during this trip he stayed in Sri Lanka for three months, where a guru told him to spread the Vedanta philosophy and yoga. In The Netherlands he finalized his education in medicine and he started his practice in Bilthoven, The Netherlands in 1952. He also started working for a homoeopathic hospital in Utrecht. With his second wife, the actress and director Kitty Knappert, he started the "Centrum voor Gezondheid en Bezinning" (Center for Health and Reflection) in Baarn, The Netherlands, focusing on oriental medicine and techniques like astrology and tarot. Polderman wrote several books about Hatha yoga, 'do it yourself' books, with an extensive description of the exercises (asanas) and he also produced albums about the subject. As a magician, Polderman won a prize during the Barcelona IX World Championships of FISM in 1964.
