Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 9 Ferrara Brain Pan Ferrara Brain Pan An acoustic/electronic musical project dedicated to pan-idiomatic explorations beyond the pale of sectarian orthodoxies, being the work of San Francisco composer/multi-instrumentalist Ferrara Brain Pan. Instrumentation runs a spectrum from flutes, saxophones, bass clarinet and recorders to the yidaki (Australian aboriginal didjeridu), shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute), and kangling or Tibetan thighbone trumpet. Harmonium, bowed psaltery, percussion, and digital/analog electronic elements further enrich the palette.\\ \\ Ferrara Brain Pan's checkered musical career includes early collaborations with noise music pioneer Boyd Rice aka NON (1970s), the mercifully short-lived goth-damage fiasco Bad Alchemy (80s), ambient dub project 23 Degrees (early 90s), and a fortuitous uncredited appearance on 1994's Rien by Krautrock legends Faust (produced by Jim O'Rourke). In 1998, Ferrara Brain Pan was co-founder of dark ambient duo Darmstadt Pharmacy, and more recently has again joined forces with Ure Thrall (and local SF Bay Area DJ/musician Mr Hate) in a new project called Death Of The West.\\ \\ https://web.archive.org/web/20080703213412/http://formsofthingsunknown.com/index2.html

Hegen [The Iron Man] (vocal, guitar, harmonica), Eric Zuidema [little Weazel] (guitar), Cynthio Ooms [STeady Rollin'] (bass), Will Drenth [Big Eyes] (drums) B.J.

A selection of strong influences: Watching Westbam live remixing a Madonna tune using three turntables at the same time stuck to his mind. The use of real life samples and turn it into music by Depeche Mode and The Art Of Nose. Search Add 9 Holy Tire Iron Holy Tire Iron was a 90s audio zine project by Reverend Raye, from West Somerville, Massachusetts. One would call the phone number and listen to the stories that others had left on the machine. It was not a 900 service, so if you were outside of the Boston area you had to pay for long distance phone charges. There was no advertising, the 'message changed every day,' and was made up of what callers called in. It was active for a number of years in the early-mid 1990s. The motto was "Inspiration is only a phone call away" and Raye called it free public media and added "Would you like fries with your art?"

Founded in the mid-1950s, the Collegium was first conceived as an opportunity for graduate students in musicology to experience early music in a performance context that was tightly integrated with the academic curriculum. Previous directors have founded or are currently directors of notable choral ensembles, including Capella Nova (Richard Taruskin), Pomerium (Alexander Blachly), and Anonymous 4 (Susan Hellauer, also director of the Collegium Musicum at Queen's College), and Eric Rice (the Collegium Musicum of the University of Connecticut). Search Add 9 Daniil Charms Даниил Иванович Ювачёв (Daniil Ivanovich Yuvachyov) Russian absurdist writer, poet and dramatist, widely regarded among the most influential early-Soviet era avantgardists (30 December [O.S. 17 December] 1905, Saint Petersburg, Russian Empire — 2 February 1942, Leningrad, USSR). Daniil Charms had a tragic life, repressed by the Soviet regime and only allowed to publish his children's literature. Arrested twice, Kharms died of starvation, aged 36, in a prison mental hospital. He was rehabilitated posthumously in July 1960. By the early-to-mid-1990s, Daniil Charms was widely published in Russia and abroad, translated into English, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Finnish, Irish and other languages. Daniil Yuvachev began writing as Kharms in the early 1920s, also adopting countless other pseudonyms (including Ххармс, Хаармсъ, Чармс, Шардам, Дандан, Карл Иванович Шустерлинг, and Иван Топорышкин). His early 1924–26 works were influenced by "Zaum" futurists Velimir Chlebnikov and [a=Aleksej Kručenych]. In 1927, Charms and Alexander Vvedensky co-founded an underground OBeRIu group (the "Union of Real Art;" ОБэРИу, Объединение Реального Искусства in Russian). The collective featured Nikolay Zabolotsky, Konstantin Vaginov, Nikolay Oleynikov and Igor Bakhterev, among others, and primarily organized public performances and readings. Soon afterward, Samuil Marshak and Boris Zhitkov helped Kharms to publish in children's literature, as it was the only appropriate vessel for his quirky and odd writing style. Between 1928 and 1931, Daniil Charms published nine illustrated children's books and extensively collaborated with popular magazines. In December 1931, Charms, Vvedensky and Bakhterev were arrested for "participating in the anti-Soviet writer's club," ending OBeRIu. Kharms was sentenced to four-month penal transportation in Kursk, returning to Leningrad by October 1932. In August 1941, Charms was again arrested for criticizing the Communist Party in the war against Germany. Under martial law, it was considered treason; Daniil only avoided death by simulating insanity. He was incarcerated in a psychiatric ward at the notorious "Kresty" prison and died from starvation in February 1942. Daniil's second wife, Marina Malich (1909—2002), and one of his close friends rescued the writer's manuscripts from his abandoned apartment. Around 1965, the first "adult" works by Kharms began to appear in Soviet literary magazines, with more comprehensive compilations circulating in "samizdat," including a selection published by George Gibian at [l=Cornell University] in 1974 and a four-volume 1978–88 edition by Mikhail Meilakh and Vladimir Erl in Bremen, Germany. (Gibian also became one of the first English translators, followed by [a=Neil Cornwell] in Great Britain). In 1988, a Master's thesis, Problematics of "funny" in OBeRIu art by Anna Gerasimova (better known as a rock musician Umka), became the first academic study of Kharms in the USSR. Since then, dozens of researchers have extensively analyzed the writer's work and his influence on contemporary Russian culture, from Yuriy Koval's fairytales and postmodernist literature of Viktor Pelevin and Vladimir Sorokin to Boris Grebenshikov's and NOM band's music. Other prominent artists inspired by Daniil Charms include Icelandic composer [a=Hafliði Hallgrímsson], Belgian artist [a=Peter Vermeersch], who released [r=6803049] CD (1998), and Dutch new music ensemble [a=De Kift] with [r=1737970] experimental opera. A duo of saxophonist [a=Ted Milton] and laptop musician [a=Sam Britton] performed Kharm's Way in 2003, while the US rapper [a=Billy Woods] named his 2015 album, [m=853335], after one of the books by Kharms.

Search Add 9 Geoff Higginbottom Geoff was born 13 February 1959, Stockport, Cheshire, England. During his early career Higginbottom played the circuit of folk clubs and pubs in his native northwest. In August 1985, he was placed third in a competition at the Warwick Folk Festival. In the November of the same year, he released Songs From The Levenshulme Triangle. The following year, he performed at the Sidmouth Folk Festival, and was subsequently re-booked for 1987 and 1988. This gave Higginbottom a wider profile, and brought club and festival bookings all over England. He has since ventured further afield, playing Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands. In addition to his musical career, Higginbottom has also made numerous appearances on UK television in bit parts, turning up in such soaps as Coronation Street, Brookside and Emmerdale, as well as a number of other productions. Flowers Tomorrow received a good response and brought Higginbottom to wider attention. The title track has been sung by a number of other performers, and the album as a whole mixed contemporary and traditional styles, with his guitar and bodhrán to the fore. More Than Pounds And Pence, released in December 1990 has helped to establish Higginbottom as a highly-regarded performer and writer.

Search Add 9 John Aidan The Belgian Producer is known for his unique progressive trance sound. His slow type of trance is a laid-back atmosphere type, which can be relaxed to the listener. Still further, one can say that his music is a journey through the spheres and atmospheres of the melodies and sounds. But always with a penchant for melodic trance John creates it skillfully to connect the individual styles together. John Aidan was born in Seoul, South Korea on the 10th of September 1982. Coming from a family of singers and musicians his passion for music started at young age. In his youth lots of his pocket money was spent on records, from then on he was excited to know how tracks were made. Johns main interest was producing trance tracks on the first place, not mixing them. At the age of 16 he made his first studio debut with his cousin Owen Replay in Brussels(Ohm Studio). After a while John started to experiment with other music styles and came to the idea of merging them together. His great influences first came from local Belgian producers and later then from the greater world star producers. John made his own way to producing tracks, did a lot of research and once and while a good friend/producer gave him some useful tips to improve the quality of his tracks.
