Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Straight Light Straight Light was a progressive rock band formed in the Kalamazoo-Grand Rapids, MI area 1973. The band was together in various versions until one month shy of 1980. In 2007, founding members Bart Garratt and Brent McDonald discussed reforming the band as a song writing experiment. "The idea was to accomplish what we couldn't decades ago--namely, the joy of making music without record company or management intervention dictating what's acceptable for the masses." The following collaboration resulted in the first 2016 album, Love Over Power. Then the recently released 2022 album, Archaeology. Both recorded with Straight Light core band mates and good pals. Their time, ideas and belief in this, helped make it a reality.

At the age of 13 he discovered the passion for DJing and clubbing, but the real turning point came in the summer of 2009 during a travel to Ibiza, where he remained for three years, and which changed his life forever. He has joined several Legends of the music industry, just to name a few, Frankie Knuckles, Louie Vega and Marcel Dettmann, with whom he established a relationship of deep friendship and subsequently also collaboration, mentorship and a source of great human and musical inspiration. From 2009 to 2011 he played in the “Terrace” of Pacha in Ibiza. Since 2012 he participated and performed as an official artist at the ADE Amsterdam Dance Event, the most important conference in the world music business, where he presented his music. In 2015 he played at the famous StreetParade in Zurich (Switzerland). In 2017 he began traveling globally, leaving European borders for the first time, for his first “America & Europa World Tour”, which had its debut in New York, performing at parties and in the most important clubs of the Big Apple such as Brooklyn's Output (Voted by Mixmag as the best club in the world in 2017), Cielo in Manhattan (Historic Club and one of the most influential of the New York underground scene), and then also Panther Room, Halcyon, LP'N'Harmony, etc. 2023 will see him engaged in his first tour of South America, where he will perform in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo in Brazil. As a producer he was ghost producer for many artists of the house and techno scene, also taking care of the mixing and mastering process. Furthermore he has released productions on labels such as: Balance Recordings, Purple Music, Vialocal, etc. working for artists such as Chez Damier (Legend of house music and techno, as well as co-founder together with Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson of the Music Institute of Detroit, home of the new Techno scene), Jamie Lewis (producer of the famous rock star Prince), Toto Chiavetta (Diynamic, Innervisions, Yoruba records), and the American singers Michelle Weeks and Darryl D'Bonneau. He has currently released his EP "Cantico" in vinyl only mode on the historic Chicago label Balance Recordings, a sublabel of Legendary Prescription Records, the label founded by Ron Trent and Chez Damier in the early '90s, which defined the status of the Deep House sound and considered as the major influence in the underground scene. Always attentive to modern and contemporary sounds, he tries to reconcile them with his old school background, ranging from intricate atmospheres and black grooves to the most hypnotic deep, through purely ethnic rhythms, until he reaches the depths of electronica and techno.

Search Add 2 Doom Dong Doom Dong started during a game of Scrabble, evolving into a deep friendship and an ongoing childish game of coming up with stupid song titles and dirty band member aliases. Simply speaking, Doom Dong consists of adults, only by title, on psychedelic time machines set to backwards, questing for the ultimate rise-up from adulthood. Musically. They do eat their vegetables though. And blueberries.
