Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025
Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 7 | Birgitta Bäck | The Borås girl Birgitta Bäck (b. 1936 at Landala in Borås) lined up in the then local talent hunt "Place for us" in 1950 and even then had to perform in front of a large audience. She went to Stockholm the following year to try her luck; worked as a housekeeper with Karl Gerhard, took singing lessons and participated in Stockholm's Lucia train in 1953. Sang with Karl-Olof Finnberg's and Thore Svanerud's orchestras, but returned to Borås in 1955. Birgitta then sang first a season with Leif Holmbergs and then one with Bosse Lidén's orchestras in Borås - her husband Torgny Nilsson also played for a short time with Bosse Lidén, then with Kettil Ohlson's and Leif Kronlund's orchestras in the capital . Trumpeter King Arne Lamberth heard Birgitta during a rehearsal and the result was a contract with the record company Joker and an extensive folk park tour in the summer of 1960. She was a military field artist in 1962 and then sang for Hans Wahlgren's orchestra. Lived in Sandared for many years, married Bengt Nyman.

Lewis Theatre of the Guggenheim Museum in May, 2007"[1] and subsequently issued on a Naxos CD. Other major works include American Visions, a vocal-instrumental song-cycle on poems of Yevgeny Yevtushenko (New World Records), and a masque, Orpheus, based on a poem by Stanley Kunitz (Albany Records). Of the latter work, critic Jules Langert wrote of its San Francisco premiere, “The music seemed in constant flux, creating strong, richly textured sonorities….and brilliant splashes of color; this Orpheus floated on an incandescent fabric of sound.”"[2] Mr. Karchin’s music is published by C. F. Peters Corporation and the American Composers Alliance. Active as a conductor and presenter of new music, Mr. Karchin co-founded the Harvard Group for New Music, the Chamber Players of the League-ISCM, and the Orchestra of the League of Composers. With these groups, he conducted New York or world premieres of works by Elliott Carter, Charles Wuorinen, Joan Tower, Julia Wolfe, Milton Babbitt, Bernard Rands, David Rakowski, Arthur Kreiger, and Jason Treuting, among others. Karchin was born in Philadelphia, PA, and is Professor of Music at New York University. He received a B. Mus. degree from the Eastman School of Music, an M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University, and was twice a Leonard Bernstein Fellow at Tanglewood. His principal teachers included Samuel Adler, Joseph Schwantner, Leon Kirchner, Earl Kim and Gunther Schuller.

Search | Add | 7 | فاطنة بنت الحسين | Fatna Bent El Hussein (1935 - 2005) was a Moroccan chaabi singer from Sidi Bennour in Morocco. Fatna has been influenced since her childhood by one of the most brilliant female artists of the time, Sheikha L’ghalia. The story began when Sheikha L’ghalia came to sing in one of the weddings in Sidi Bennour. L’ghalia was a unique woman with presence, charisma, deserved respect and pride. She was one of the rare women to drive a car at that time. This incident left a deep impression on Fatna Bent Lhoucine who then set herself the goal of becoming a sheikha like Sheikha L’ghalia. She then moved to the city of Yousoufiya after a short unsuccessful marriage experience. Fatna learned Aita from the big names like Sheikha Khadouj Laabdia and her husband Sheikh Mahjoub among others. These were her first steps toward making her image as a “Diva” and a legend of Aita. Later on, the group began to re-arrange songs performed by Sintir (Gimbri), as well as other songs that belong to women’s groups in the rural area. For example Moulay Abdellah Tohami Salmi, which describes the rituals and way to Moulay Abdellah Amgar festival in the peripheries of the city of El Jadida city. The song Moulay Abdellah is much like Sayed Mekkawi’s song , in which he describes the birth of the prophet. Another example is the song “Chaiba Ya W’lidi” of Qarzouz and Mahrash, which tells the story of a young man named Chaiba who was arrested because of the amount of cannabis that was in his possession. Despite some rearrangement and the use of new instruments like the violin and the lute, Sheikha Fatna Bent Lhoucine has preserved the pure rural authentic style in her songs which can be considered as a revival of Aita music and art. Although the wide changes and the external influence on Aita, Sheikha Fatna Bent Lhoucine, thanks to her conspicuous presence and strong voice, was undoubtedly one of the last artists that the Aita Art is pround of. If the early sheikhat and Shyoukh had the right to take pride in confronting the “makhzen” (Moroccan dictatorship) and French colonial authority, the legend Fatna Bent Lhoucine – proud of her rural identity and character of her unique voice- has the merit of reviving and established the pride of the rual identity. By registering and commemorating a large number of Aita songs, Fanta Bent Lhoucine deserves a historical legitimacy and the title of legend of Aita. She is as a reservoir of preserving the heritage and a model for Aita seasonal songs. Didn’t she said “Rani Sajjelt, La Tgoulo Mett” (artists never die).

Search | Add | 7 | Luis Nieva | Luis Nieva | A main character in modeling Argentina's electronic music scene during the 90s, Luis Nieva is a versatile artist who stands out through his wide-criterion musical selection and accurate technique. His first approach to turntables in the mid 80s was heavily influenced by many styles such as disco, soul, funk, Chicago house, synthpop, new beat and acid house. Techno from Germany and Detroit joined the list a couple of years later when Luis started a few club residencies around Buenos Aires. The foundation of mythical Urban Groove Djs collective in 1994 was a relevant milestone in his career. With highlights producing the first massive rave parties in the country and running experimental after hours Club K-Dos, they stimulated an eager, growing electronic music audience. As a member of Urban Groove Luis opened the prodigy and Kraftwerks shows, held memorable 7 turntables sessions and shared the dj booth with the likes of Daniel Bell, Ricardo Villalobos and DJ Hell. At that time he began his now frequent visits to Brazil thanks to the Rave Sudamericana Network. After quitting Urban Groove, with fellow ex-member Miguel silver they conceived the powerful duo spitfire in 2001. Since then, their 4 turntables n effects dynamic set has toured around Argentina and south America including performances in all the Creamfields Buenos Aires editions (2001/2002/2003/2004/2005/2006), Brahma beats festival, Sonarsound Buenos Aires, Cream brazil in Curitiba and Skol Beats 2004 and 2006 in Sao Paulo and SouthFest 2007 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Luis also holds a monthly residency at Nicetos popular Club 69 and regularly plays across Argentina and Brazil. His sets combine underground influences from the past with newer ones, from old skool to deep house and all sorts of techno, everything tapped in real time to vindicate the value of technique. Either as Spitfire or on his own, over the last years he's performed alongside artists like Carl Cox, Colin Dale, Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, Jeff Mills and Dave Angel, to name a few. As a producer hes released on different labels including usas strictly rhythm and also works in a project together with Leo Portela, aka Index, under the moniker of default, featured in the Hypno series vol. 2: Spitfire Dj set on Brazilian label URBR. Focused on his gigs and studio tasks, plus the On-Musik record store he co-founded in 2004, Luis still has time to prove his dj skills on air through the after hours and late night (Spitfire) shows on metrodance 95.1 fm. |

Search | Add | 7 | Magnus Hjelte | Magnus Hjelte got into the world of electronic music in the beginning of the nineties. Inspired by the English and German techno scene, Magnus started together with his friend Mikael Persson the techno label G-Force records in 1995. At the same time Magnus bought his first music equipment and started to produce music. In the year 2000, Magnus Hjelte got his first dj-equipment, and began to play as a dj. This would be something that would take him deeper into the world of electronic music. The same year G-Force was transformed into the Backbone rhythm collective. A collective with a broader view on music, stretching from the house label Eloge, to the deep techno label Facets and the hard rhythm label GFR. During the summer 2001 Magnus will start a new techno label called 8th Army, a label that will release the darker and harder music from the late G-Force records. A number of new releases on different labels world wide, and cooperation with both Swedish and foreign artists will take both the 8th Army and Magnus as a dj, through the beginning of the new millennium. This won’t be the last words…

Search | Add | 7 | Rudolph Cernkovich | Rudolph Cernkovich was born November 8, 1889, in Gorski Kotar, Croatia. He was the oldest son of eleven children. After he finished his elementary education, his parents planned to send him to school to become a priest or photographer. When he was 15, he met an uncle who was a tambura player and maker along with having his own family orchestra. This uncle gave Rudolph a tambura for a gift and he immediately learned to play it. He came to America at 16 and settled in Pittsburgh. He planned in the old country to stay here only about three years, earn plenty of money, and return home. He joined several bands and played for dances, weddings, picnics, and home parties. Then he began to teach other orchestras and to arrange simple pieces. When the teacher of his singing society quit, the members prevailed upon him to undertake teaching the choir. From then on, he was teaching the tamburitza, orchestras and other singing societies and was arranging music for both. After playing with the famous concert touring tamburitza orchestra "Zvonimir" for five years, he married Anna Ivanusich and they settled in Chicago. Here he rented a place for tambura manufacturing, and besides arranging music, began making tamburas. His work received overwhelming approval. All the work of manufacturing instruments and issuing music dangerously affected his heart. Doctors warned him to slow down so he sold his shop to his cousin, and dedicated himself entirely to arranging and printing music. The demand for this was growing. After 23 years of yearning to return to his homeland, he and his wife spent five months in Yugoslavia. After returning home, the days of dark depression were everywhere. He went to Michigan and bought a house where he could continue to work by mail with his music customers throughout the country. The town was Bradley. Then the second World War came and orchestras disbanded. To arrange and print this music for a smaller and smaller number with growing costs in everything due to the war, the outputs were a constant loss. Realizing the futility in this line of work, Cernkovich decided to sell his home and find another line of business. After rigid examination by the Civil Service Commission, he was appointed Postmaster of Bradley, Michigan. During his free time he still kept up his work on issuing music. He has arranged more than 1000 songs, including his own melodies, work of other composers, and public domain folk tunes he knew as a child. His right hand in this endeavor was his wife, who was carrying one load while he carried another and inspiring him when he was down and low. His lyrics are sentimental and romantic in nature, which is perhaps because of the breaking away from his family in early life. He said that if he had chosen some other career it would probably have been more gainful, but this way he has friends in every native community of many lands through his music -- and this has more value.

Search | Add | 7 | Lowball Jack | Jack Friederichsen | It all started with a fascination for rare records located deep in Texas pawnshop cut out bins. It came together one late afternoon at a back o’ town chicken ‘n’ whatever joint called Ludie Mae’s. A knife-wielding patron jumped into the open door of a long, black, early ’70′s oldsmobile. He was looking for cash and trouble. He demanded to know what the hell was on the numerous crazy-looking, home-brewed cassette tapes scattered across the dashboard. His shiny blade waved and danced all around the front seat. The front door of the joint busted open. A man in dark glasses and long dreadlocks came out walking fast with a cocked revolver in his hand. Gold teeth gleamed as he ordered the problem patron out of the car. With a quick gesture, two of Mr. Johnson’s boys hauled the freak out the window, and tossed him hard into the road. Mr. Johnson explained that life was bad for everyone, but this was his place. Something had to be done. He spoke with the cool and poise of a shaman as he slid his piece back into his waistband. All this took place in slow motion while throbalicious, deep fried grooves pulsated across the chicken shack’s rough gravel parking lot with a tremendous low-end thump. The world seemed… full of possibility. Some of it… even good. LOWBALL JACK (a.k.a. Jack Sprat), [Deceased and we are eternally bummed but so happy to have made music and history together] soaked up the heavy beats and twangy accents emanating from his native Texas/Louisiana border, and rode them all the way to the Big Nipple. He’s screwed lids on bleach bottles, hawked snake oil to rich people, managed some folk’s fortunes and other’s addictions to take the listener on journeys ranging from trip hop to monster fuzz to the cosmic American funk of “ALL JONES NO BUZZ“, “URBAN NOISE DIRTY POISON“, “PHOTO NEGATIVE“, and “BUG“. His fresh new EP, “UNDERBELLY” is covered with illicit downtown dirt. You can also find Jack playing guitar and co-producing Thirsty artists WITHERIN’ JOHNSON (“AND THE HORSE YOU RODE IN ON”), PARTY APES (“ERASE YOUR TAPES“) and LOS CONFABULATORS (“‘SUP “). He co-produced KELVYN BELL‘s ridiculously funky new “CUBED ROOT CURE” as well as the stripped down “ST. LOUIS BLU: KELVYN BELL PLAYS ACOUSTIC GUITAR” and the avant electric jazz monsterpiece, “FUNK 4 WHA CHA KNOW“. Jack also produced QUEEN ESTHER‘s acclaimed debut slice of Black Americana, “TALKIN’ FISHBOWL BLUES“. Follow LOWBALL JACK on SoundCloud Contact: information@thirstyrecords.com |

Search | Add | 7 | Cre•scen•do | From Los Angeles, California Cre·scen·do is the combination of passion, late dreamy-filled nights, and utter love for music. The band has been slowly coming together to it’s completed state since Gregory Cole [Guitarist and Singer] had other projects in the works and decided to take steps forward to revolutionize a new style and sound. It was with this realization that their path toward making their debut album began to unfold. Cre·scen·do formed through the help of John Glenn Kunkel of The New Division under the backdrop of Los Angeles, California. With this combination of talent, determination, and the occasional late-night out to talk about their lives, music, and desires, the band coined their style under the genre “DreamGaze”: a combination of Shoegaze and Dream-pop elements that encapsulate the entirety of the band – a group of individuals with a love for music, and a dream to further their lives with it. Cre•scen•do currently consists of Gregory Cole, Olive Kimoto, and Jess Krichelle.

Search | Add | 7 | Fitini | Raphaël Zadi | Fitini is an Ivorian singer-songwriter in the Zouglou style with comic but also seriousness. He is nicknamed The Creator. The artist has several times made people laugh through the "hits" such as: 2 glued, ... but especially with the title Tout mignon in which he humorously criticizes all the actors of the Ivorian political scene in the year 2000. One rumor has it that he is the composer of the 1er Gaou hit by [a=Magic System]. Indeed he also composes for other Zouglou artists. |
