Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024
Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 2 | Terrashima | Terrashima were formed in Derby in 2000 from the ashes of Psychotic Reaction, a 60s psychedelic / garage-influenced band more famous for their clothing than their music. [a=Ryan DelGaudio] guitar) and Mike Cross (bass) left Psychotic Reaction to form Terrashima along with Mark Ibbotson (vocals) and Andy (drums), the latter of whom left in 2001 to pursue a career in business, and was replaced by Dan Montague. The band were named after the MC5's recording studio, and were inspired by the likes of that band, Jesus Lizard, Iggy Pop and The Stooges, Mudhoney, Sonic Youth and Scratch Acid. They were famous for the manic and chaotic nature of their live shows. After Terrashima Ryan, Mike and Dan went on to form [a=The Swarm (4)] along with [a=Callum Thompson] (vocals), Olly Toogood (noises & black boxes) and Scott Sandham (visuals and projections).

Search | Add | 2 | Fat Gray Cat | fat gray cat | Fat Gray Cat, a quintet out of Phoenix, Arizona is releasing a debut four song recording entitled ‘ep’ on AZPX Records sometime this summer and we are pretty hyped here at AZPXR Headquarters as we plan our next skate mission. FGC is an original rock band influenced by 1970’s punk & rock, basically turning pre-punk to post-punk. FGC has opened for Clutch, The Rollins Band, M.I.R.V., No Means No, Slightly Stoopid, Pepper, The Dickies, Shattered Faith, JFA, Mike Watt, Spiral Stairs, and many others. Michael Pistrui, the band’s lead singer and manager once fronted legendary AZ band Beats the Hell Out of Me on Metal Blade Records, so yeah, there’s some history too. The band is tirelessly involved in the local music scene and that is why here at AZPX Records we are very appreciative and stoked to churn out this project. Also, I skateboard with Michael often so there some definite bias involved. We will be releasing a fat batch of CDs, but are not sure how we will distribute because we live up to our slogan as ‘Arizona’s crappiest record label’. We will let you know when we figure it out. |

Search | Add | 2 | Shiny Jets | [a=Shiny Jets] is an experimental rock band formed in Chicago in 2004. The band began when drummer [a=Tucker Slough] encountered Singer/Guitarist [a=Shanté Clair] performing at a party thrown by a mutual friend in the Rogers Park area. The two struck up a friendship and began trying to incorporate Tucker's drumming into Shanté's existing solo project, [a=The Maybe]. Soon they began writing new songs and pushing their musical ideas further, incorporating looping pedals and other electronics until they had compiled a number of songs. Some time afterwards, Tucker moved back to his hometown of Kansas City and Shanté left Chicago to live in New York for a number of years. Around 2014, the two began working on new songs together, with Shanté writing songs that Tucker would then add drums parts to and send back via Dropbox. Within a short time the material they were creating began to take shape and discussions began about re-establishing the band. In March of 2015 Shanté packed up and moved to Kansas City to begin work on the project that would assume the moniker Shiny Jets. Incorporating songs written back in Chicago and those songs written long distance between New York and Kansas City, the two began adding layers of sampling and further experimentation with even more complex looping and arrangements. Currently Shiny Jets rehearses, performs and records based out of Kansas City.

Search | Add | 2 | Hiss Sound | Hiss Sound is a side-project of Dutch musician Olivier Schreuder, who is also behind the Thai-Dutch collective Apichat Pakwan. On their first album Taraf he collaborates with four Dutch musicians who specialize in North-Indian classic music: Martijn Baaijens, Aura Rascon, Heiko Dijker & Raj Mohan. Longtime-collaborator Robin Koek plays drums on a few tracks, and co-produced the first album. Like Apichat Pakwan the music is at the crossroads of Western, electronic and Asian music, with influences of dub, hiphop and electro. Besides Indian instruments like the sarod, bansuri, sitar & tabla there are also electric and acoustic guitars, bassguitar and drums. In each track they interact in a different way with a wide range of synthesizers and drummachines, like the vintage analog Formanta Polivoks and the 909, to form gritty, bassheavy dancefloor-oriented grooves that move between traditional raga-structures, contemporary electronic music and comprovisations. Mixed World Music from The Netherlands described the music of Hiss Sound as “vintage analog electronics and forceful beats that get pleasantly deranged by traditional Indian rhythms where necessary. The way the bansuri (Indian flute) interacts with percussion and electronics in Mishra Adelita is extraordinarily beautiful. A treat for adventurous ears.”

Search | Add | 2 | Arnold Sprogis | Arnold Sprogis | A native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Arnold Sprogis grew up during the tumultuous cultural and political shifts in Canada during the 1960's and 70's and is somewhat a musical pioneer himself. Sprogis recalls borrowing an electric guitar and a reel-to-reel audio recorder during high school and reciting, or shouting rather, a poem to screeching feedback noise and taking that recording to school. The recording was well received by teachers and students who assigned him to a local poetry club During the 70's, he studied media arts at Sheridan College where he forayed into film-making and editing with a Super 8 camera, video recording/editing and audio production. Arnold Sprogis was also a member of Toronto's The Music Gallery, the scene for creative live music, which comprised of improvised music, performance art, and avante sounds. Sprogis recorded UHFO group’s series of sessions (You Haven’t Found Out) During the mid-to-late 70's, Sprogis met Newton Garwood, a Toronto-based early electronic musician who used modular synthesis, something expensive for the time and still to this day. Together they produced the early precursors of ambient music, though they did not call it that. To them, it was just a form of avante music. While the marketing term, Ambient, was freshly minted by Brian Eno in 1978, it would not gain true currency until over a decade later. Together Sprogis and Garwood recorded and produced music that was decades ahead of its time. During the 80's, Sprogis then took electronics courses at George Brown College, which also involved computer logic. It was not until the 1990's that Sprogis then met musician, electro-ambient producer, Eric Hopper who went by the moniker, Sylken. Around this time, Sprogis acquired guitars, synthesizers, digital audio workstations, and began to produce his version of electronic-ambient music. This was a time of collaboration and co-writing songs with various artists. During this time, Sprogis clued-on to the idea of taking The Music Gallery concept and introduced the idea of a weekly live ambient music venue in Toronto's artistic Kensington Market community. He dubbed the weekly event, 'The Ambient Ping' and it became the most successful and longest running event in Toronto of its kind. A wide range of local and international talent was showcased and the crowds grew larger. The idea continued on Brian Eno's idea of ambient, where the music could be both on the fore and background. At the Ambient Ping, Sprogis went on to collaborate with artists on recorded and live performance with the likes of Sylken and Wally Jericho among others. Since then, Sprogis' music found its way onto ambient music compilations, documentary soundtracks and collaborative recordings. Sprogis currently prepares a series of albums for release, including the archival collaboration with Newton Garwood and his own upcoming full-length album, Sounds from the Unseen. |

His compositions include four symphonies: various orchestral, chamber and instrumental works: songs and choral works: operas, including The Dialogues of Óisin and Saint Patric and Arcturus, both performed in Cardiff and elsewhere: and a cycle of epic scenes based on J R R Tolkien’s posthumous novel The Silmarillion, the largest work written in Wales in the twentieth century, excerpts from which have been performed in Oxford and which is currently in the process of recording and release by Prima Facie Records in association with Volante Opera. Other works have been performed in London and elsewhere throughout the UK, Hungary, America, Australia and New Zealand. His manuscript scores are lodged at the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth. He has appeared as a performer both on radio and television, and also reviews live performances and recordings for MusicWeb International. Akallabêth, the first CD entirely devoted to his music, was released in 2017 to international acclaim, Chris Seeman on the Tolkien Music website stating that “in the annals of Tolkien-inspired music, Paul Corfield Godfrey is the proverbial oliphaunt in the closet.” Reviewing the recording of Beren and Lúthien, the same writer remarked that the music constituted “hands-down the most potent actualization of Tolkien’s writing I have heard to date.” Comments from other quarters have been equally enthusiastic. |

Sisyphus Autopsy combined heavy, dark, Type O Negative'esque goth metal with extremely obscene, misogynistic lyrical themes mocking chauvinistic radical movements and groups such as MGTOW (Men Going Their Own Way) and predating contemporary "incel" rhetorics. In 1997, [l=Sacrum Torch] released a limited-edition retrospective CD compilation, freeing the extreme music "from the tyranny of boy-meets-girl Female DJs of the world" (according to the humorous press release and faux band's historiography included in a foldout insert poster). Sisyphus Autopsy also participated in several cult underground movies, including Lisa Hammer's low-budget horror comedy musical Pus$Bucket in 1991 and, most recently, Attack of the Particle Disruptors (2017), one of the last cinematographic works of renowned experimental filmmaker and "Cinema of Transgression" founder [a=Nick Zedd].
