Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 16/12/2025

Found 617983 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Carolina Maria de Jesus Reflecting on the written memory of Minas de Gerais author Carolina Maria de Jesus (1914-1977) requires care and effort. For someone that barely knows or has never heard of the author of the book Quarto de despejo–diário de uma favelada, published in August of 1960, we must start at the beginning. Carolina Maria de Jesus was born in Sacramento, a small city in the south of Minas Gerais, to a black family of the last enslaved generation of Africans and Afro-descendants brought against their will or born in Brazil. De Jesus herself called her grandfather, the nicknamed African Socrates, soldo do escravidao,[1] not for his physical and mental characteristics, but for his adaptation to the system that would conform him to the demands of being black, poor, and born to illiterate parents. Carolina Maria de Jesus would have had only to follow the path laid out for her by the Casa Grande [2] and by powerful landowners, remnants of the bandeirante[3] period and the bossism created by violence and rampant rural coronelismo.[4] Formed of the same clay that made up the rest of her family, clay the color of bitita — a word derived from the word mbita, from the Mozambican language of Changana, meaning “clay pot,” and, as the Infopedia Dictionary of Portuguese puts it, the “singular feminine diminutive of this term results in the word ‘bitita."[5] Thus, bitita (the author’s childhood nickname) refers to something of clay, ochre or black in color. This enslaved ancestrality and the forced destiny of subservience, on the contrary, gave de Jesus courage and drive, beginning in the two years she spent frequenting a Spiritist high school. Determination and dreams beyond measure pushed the little black girl to exceed all imaginable, to do the unthinkable and the impossible — and in her persistence in learning to read, even as a little girl, she was deemed crazy. At a tender age, she was arrested and thrown in jail. Carolina Maria de Jesus had her life journey associated with the question of social disorder because she did not accept for herself a life path directed by others. Her life as a manual laborer, from babysitter to domestic servant, from cook to factory worker, turned her into a pilgrim, taking long journeys by foot from city to city in search of bread and dignity. In the big city, however, she found unanticipated pain and glory. In São Paulo’s 1940s to 1960s, she charted her existence as stark proof of her “change in function”: a poor little semiliterate black girl could never dare to become an intellectual. To write, even in old notebooks found in the trash, or in the newspapers, was something for the “lettered” or and learned (all male) academics. But de Jesus pushed her way in, doused in courage and daring, masterfully rewriting her own DNA. On the streets of the big city, she turned from an “exotic object,” spending cold nights in tenements and on the sidewalks beneath highway overpasses, to “out of order” — something to be thrown out, destined for the trash heap, for despejo[6]. From this impure mud she picked the most precious flower — her ideas and thoughts on Brazil’s underground, where the yell of the favela and its people echoed strongest. Quarto de despejo, her debut book, triggered a new schism in Brazilian intellectual life — one not felt since romanticism, one that would shake literature strong enough to cause a break with colonialism. Her literature brought the gift of revolt and of revolution. The aesthetic was, from a conceptual standpoint, that of the canon being broken, akin to a useless bookbinding. Carolina de Jesus — not only with Quarto do despejo, but in her other works, even those yet unpublished — shook the ivory tower, that spearhead between the old and the new (modernizing but outdated on account of its conservatism) in our literature. With her writing she imposed a new code of literary conduct: it is the woman of the people that writes, literarily, fable-ly, poetically, the anguish of the people. In this aesthetic scheme, she broke from the condition of “unlettered” to writer; from invisibility to fame. In Brazil, she would stand on par with Jorge Amado, Clarice Lispector, Dinah Silveira de Queiroz, Raquel de Queiroz. Internationally, she would break all possible and imaginable barriers. At the junction of these two standards, de Jesus became the new canon. Elitist rhetoric stood (and stands) in opposition to this new reality. Racially aggressive, her narrative is harrowing, discursive, modern at the same time that remains in touch with reality and lives within the changing anxieties of Brazilian national consciousness. In fiction, she speaks through her romances, especially in Pedaços da fome, in poetry, just remember the strength of O colono e o fazendeiro, in short stories, Onde estas Felicidade? Carolina is the factor that breaks with the reining literary neocolonialism, active since Brazil’s Semana de Arte Moderna in 1922. Her legacy and increasing presence today testify to the force of nature in her written thought, which remains current and contemporary, subversive and revolutionary, rebranded as alternative, marginal, peripheral. Born 105 years ago, de Jesus left with us much more than unpublished works, dreams, and resilience. Revisiting her work has become more and more urgent. Reading her is, to put it crudely, absolutely imperative. She is still muzzled by the threat of 1964.[7] Her voice has been hushed in dungeons of national consciousness. Speaking of and reading de Jesus has become something dangerous, risky, threatening. Treating her as the author, thinker, and intellectual that she is has become a condemnation, an affront to the caste of the academic ivory tower of literature and learning. This is a long and stony road. This is work that remains to be done — done with the same pain and suffering endured by the black current author Carolina Maria de Jesus. Search Add 2 Alpha K Aris kourkouvelas a.k.a Alpha K is a local Dj / Producer in the city of Volos,Greece and his mixing style is Deep House, Afro House,Tech,Progressive house and of course Chill out Elements..... From a very young age various types of music sounded to his ears. His parents from an early age listened to music every day and from then he started to understand and started listening to his personal choices of music, from rock, jazz, reggae , salsa, Latin, pop nearly all except opera! Turning 15 and with the appearance of electronic music which became a passion made him start to deal with djing and without wasting any time he spent a large sum of money to make his own studio to practice as a dj. He has played in many cafés, clubs and beach bars of the city and always wanted to bring other people on the trip of music because he has always thought that music is full emotions and has its own language. He both loves music and wants others to feel the absolute happiness he feels as well. His philosophy in music is to gradually excite his audience with appealing tunes in order to make them reach their peak with a lot of dancing and feelings which touch love and the beautiful musical journeys. His style is addaptable according to the venue and the audience,he plays for.His intentions are to see his audience enjoy in every way the musical journey which they have started... Later in life his friendships urged him to get involved in production which was actually a dream of his to be able to demonstrate creativeness through his love for electronic music, then began his own journey in production with the help of a producer friend. In 2016 he made his first production, «my dream" which was released by Retrolounge Records. It even had the honor in its debut to be remixed by a Greek Producer Christos Fourkis who at the end of the year «my dream" was honored in the best way by Traxsource # 14 globally in Afro house music. He still has a lot to give because his love for music is enormous.... The journey has just begun...

Search Add 2 Manuel Melico Salazar Manuel Salazar Manuel Maria Daniel Francisco de Paula Salazar Zuniga. Luckily for us, the baby that was baptized with this incredibly long name is currently known as Melico Salazar. Melico is the most renown Costa Rican artist of all times. He was born in January 3, 1887, son of Nazorio Salazar and of Rafaela Zuniga. His house was located only a block away from the National Theater, which is why he’s said to have been born under the awnings of the theater. In 1896 his family moved to Cartago, where they stayed for fourteen years. Melico had a prodigious talent for singing, and he took the train into San Jose every week in order to participate in the rehearsals of the choir in the Colegio Seminario. The young boy then enrolled in the Escuela Santa Cecilia de Musica, which was inaugurated in 1894 in order to replace the Escuela Nacional de Musica. The Santa Cecilia school boasted amazing professors and artists, such as Melico’s mentor, Joaquin Vargas Calvo. Salazar’s talent was so apparent to his teachers that they encouraged him to sing in several places and for many occasions. The first written praises of the young artist appeared in the newspaper “La Aurora” on december, 1904: “There has been a great revelation tonight for the audience. Seventeen year-old Tenor Manuel Salazar. His voice is potent and solid, worthy of all praise”. After this and many other favorable reviews, Salazar’s local fame expanded, taking him to all of the provinces to perform in churches and schools. This young artist’s career wasn’t meant to be limited to national praise, though. On February 6, 1907, twenty year-old Salazar traveled to Italy with a meager $84 in his pocket. Here he stayed in Milan, where he studied with important teachers such as Castegnaro and Conrado. After studying with Gala Moretti in 1911, his international triumphs began. In 1914 he met and married his wife, Angiolina Viassone Cantero, from Turin. Angiolina or Lina as he called her, was introduced to Melico by another singer and she became her husband’s most ardent supporter. In theaters where nobody was allowed to remain backtsage, Lina would stand or sit through her husband’s performance and hold a pitcher of coffee that he drank during breaks. During the 1910’s and 1920’s his international presentations increased, as did his fame and recognition. Salazar traveled with his wife and members of different operas to Cuba, Central America, Venezuela, Peru, Brazil, Mexico and North American cities. He also visited European cities such as Barcelona, Moscow, Leningrad, Riga and Berlin. Among Salazar’s legendary performances are: the Inauguration of the Rodak theater in Rochester in 1922, his debut in the Metropolitan Opera of New York in 1924, and his participation in the Aida Opera performed in the Polo Ground in 1937. In 1937 Salazar was ready to return to Costa Rica. Melico Salazar’s brilliant career was at its apogee or greatest height from 1917 to 1930. In 1940 however, the great tenor hardly performed, except for very special occasions and upon the request of important figures. Fortunately for Costa Rica and for all of its aspiring young singers, the National Conservatory was founded in 1941. Melico Salazar, who was and still is Costa Rica’s greatest singer was stepping down, but new talents were rising , due mostly to the Conservatory’s opening. In 1947, Melico Salazar announced his support to President Calderon Guardia, but since the latter lost in the Civil War of 1948, this cost the artist dearly. His pension was suspended by the Figueres government and Salazar wasn’t supported economically or morally until many years later. After returning to San Jose (he had been living in Cartago), Melico Salazar Zuniga, the greatest Costa Rican singer of all times, died in poverty on August 6, 1950. The man who had received innumerable applause and praise in theaters from all over the world, wasn’t appropriately honored by the Costa Rican government until 1972, when a statue of his was inaugurated in Cartago. Later, in 1979, a project was passed in order to name the old Teatro Raventos, Teatro Melico Salazar, a name which it still holds today. As is the case with most great artists, Melico had to wait until after his death to be remembered and to be immortalized. - http://www.infocostarica.com/people/melico.html Chronology of some appearances Madame Butterfly- Los Angeles. Search Add 2 Bebop '79 Bebop '79 is genre bending jazz "duet" from Michael Fanuzzi (drums, guitar, voice) and continuing iterations of His Machine, Lazerbeat (piano, synthesizers). The Machine is, at a functional level, a clever means of playing multiple instruments at once, feeding off of the subtleties of percussion and the environment to generate fantastical melodies in response. But more than that, there's an unpredictable nature to it that makes it feel truly alive. The Machine is not only reacting, it is in itself creating. Together. Note selection of all keyboards are driven directly by detection of percussive inputs, using a combination of pitch/FFT analysis, first from the drums, and later from the guitar, and even voice. Loops and layers are built, growing ever vaster in scale. Here at [l=lazerbea.ms], we endeavor to utilize technology to achieve an artistic transcendence. A futuristic primitivism. Welcome to the opening chapter of BEBOP '79.
