Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 29/07/2025
Found 602638 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 5 | Domna Samiou Ensemble | Domna Samiou was born on October 12th 1928, in the Kaisariani1 neighborhood in Athens and died on March 10th 2012. Her parents were refugees from the village of Baindir in the Smyrna (Izmir) area. Her mother came to Greece in 1922, whilst her father, who was a prisoner of war, arrived slightly later during the exchange of populations2. During her childhood years she lived the harsh life of a refugee, but was also surrounded with the humane solidarity of the refugee communities. That is where she acquired her deep connection with popular culture and her aptitude to participate. It was in these surroundings that she also came into contact with music for the first time and where she acquired her love for folk music. At the age of thirteen, whilst attending night school, Domna Samiou also began to receive her first formal musical training from Simon Karas at the Association for the Dissemination of National Music, where she was tutored in Byzantine and Folk music, as well as being introduced to the idea of field research in music. Her first professional collaboration with the National Radio Foundation (E.I.R.)3 started when she was a member of the Simon Karas choir. In 1954 she became a full time employee of the station, working in the ‘National Music Section’4. Through her work there, she came in contact with the leading traditional musicians of the day, who were part of the greater migration wave at the time from the countryside to Athens. The National Music Section was busy recording such musicians and as a result, she became acquainted with all the various local musical styles. At the same time she was conducting the musical supervision for records, theatrical programs and films. In 1963 she started touring the countryside independently, to record music for the archive she was establishing, using her own means and equipment. In 1971 Domna Samiou left her radio job and importantly, later in the year, accepted an invitation by the composer and performer Dionysis Savvopoulos to start performing at a club called Rodeo, (see The first concerts) frequented by a youthful anti-junta5 audience. This marked the beginning of Domna Samiou's impact on the appreciation of folk music by the younger generations in Greece. Soon after she performed at the English Bach Festival in London, which was being run by Lila Lalandi at the time. It was a triumphant start to a brilliant musical career. 'It made people overcome the embarrassment they felt for folk music' as she herself stated later.

Search | Add | 5 | Wendel Jr. | Wendel Jr. - Percussion Replacement System | "Wendel Jr. is NOT another drum machine. Wendel Jr. is a state of the art, digital, percussion sound replacement device." That is the introduction the Wendel Jr. is given in the manual produced by Wendel Labs Ltd. in 1985. First introduced by [a=Steely Dan] on their [r=844094] album in 1980, the Wendel Jr. soon became a very popular drum sampler/drum machine used by numerous famous artist, groups and producers. The Wendel Jr's drum sounds are 16 bit sounds sampled at 50 kHz, recorded with no equalization on a 3M Digital Mastering System and then digitally transferred through a special interface, into the EPROM's that are in the Wendel Jr. cartridges being used for playback. The sounds recorded in the Wendel Jr. are not chopped off at the end. The natural decay is totally preserved in the memory chips, therefore providing extremely natural sounding sounds. "Think of Wendel Jr's output as a good mic in the right place of a good sounding drum. The phrase 'Realer than real' comes to mind, but I promised that I would not use it in this manual" is how Roger Nichols describes the Wendel Jr. in the manual. |

Search | Add | 5 | Nathalie Soles | The artistic richness and multicultural complexity of Nathalie Soles' singing impresses as much as her natural range (four and a half octaves) and her vocal ease (sings in five languages). Born in France to an Italian mother and a Togolese father, she spent most of her childhood in Morocco. It is in this colorful country, repository of a subtle oriental refinement, bathed in exhilarating scents, that she forges her first musical weapons. Jazz will quickly become her preference, offering her vocal palette a sufficiently vast field of exploration.

At 22, Shayan presents a passion for musical artistry, and a love for storytelling. Search | Add | 5 | Tina Lawton | Tina Lawton | Born March 23, 1944, Adelaide, SA, Australia Died December 1968, Kenya Also Known As Christine Elizabeth Lawton Very popular South Australian folk singer from the 1960s. In her life, she released 3 LPs and made two trips to Vietnam but died tragically in a plane crash in Kenya December 1968 after appearing in an Australian ABC-TV production "The Restless Years" in 1967. Her second LP, titled Singing Bird, appeared approximately 6 months after the first and, once again, the choice of material reflected her deep and passionate interest in British folk song. Though Tina preferred her first album, public and critic alike received Singing Bird just as enthusiastically. Adelaide reviewer, Graham Reade, was in no doubt that she “is this country's best female singer of folk songs”. Again, she was supported on the album by harpist Hew Jones and also by the flautist Russell King. Her third and final LP, Fair & Tender, was considered by many to be her best, revealing a mature development in her voice and in her interpretation of the songs. While the rich tradition of British folk song again supplied the material, the musical arrangements, this time provided by jazz musician Don Burrows, all reflected a greater sophistication in her approach. Burrows himself played flute, while George Golla (guitar), Lal Kuring (cello) and Herbie Marks (virginal, piano accordion) made up the highly accomplished musical support. Her mother remembered Tina's enormous appreciation for her accompanists, to whom she would send 'thank-you' notes adorned with her sketches. Don Burrows recalled after her death how “she would often drop me a little 'thank you' note, always with some funny little drawing. How I wish I had kept them! Tina was such a good person to work with; she always knew exactly what she wanted in the music. This type of professionalism is only found in real artists and 'near enough' was never 'good enough' for her.” Tina made at least two concert trips to Vietnam. The first was a brief tour under the auspices of the Australian Forces Overseas Fund as a member (with Tim McNamara and Lee Gallagher) of an entertainment group to perform for the Australian troops soon after their arrival in the war zone. In doing so she alienated some of her more radical folksinger friends with whom she had performed at 'protest' concerts but, though hurt by some of their comments, she believed what she was doing was right and went ahead. On her return from this first tour she was interviewed on Adelaide television by Joan Disher and performed the song 'The Cruel War' with a depth of passion and conviction that many have never forgotten. During this and her later visit her letters and sketchbooks were filled with acute observations on the suffering of the local population and the young boys, American and Australian, sent to kill, die and be maimed in the jungles of Vietnam. In mid-1967 she left Adelaide for the last time, booked for a concert tour of Singapore, Malaysia, Bangkok, Manila and Vietnam. At the end of July, when she reached Saigon, her contract broke down leaving Tina overseas and she was left stranded without money, accommodation or work. Instead of returning home, however, she accepted a contract with the US Army to undertake a military hospital tour of the Pacific region that would begin in Vietnam and take in Japan, the Philippines, Bangkok and Guam. It was an exhausting tour, both physically and emotionally, and by the time she returned to Saigon in October her voice was in dire need of a rest. From South-east Asia Tina flew, via India, to Europe where she travelled through Greece and Italy before heading to England. In London she made the decision to go north to Glasgow to continue her studies in art that had been interrupted when she left Australia. Arriving in Glasgow in December 1967, she enrolled as a fourth year student in the Printmaking Section of the Department of Graphic Design at the Glasgow School of Art. She settled into life in Glasgow and immersed herself in her studies. Music during this time definitely 'took a back seat'. Indeed, her mother remarked that “during those twelve months in Glasgow, only a few close friends even knew that Tina could sing.” Her experiences in Vietnam had resulted in a re-evaluation of her life and recognition of deeper realities than the superficial glamour of the entertainment world. Though she retained her love of singing, she found that the maturity she had gained over the past year had now given her something to “say” through her art and she meant to pursue this. She was determined, recalled her mother, to not again become “so involved in singing that she might not complete her Art course.” Nevertheless, she did make a number of public performances during her time in Britain. After being persuaded to sing at a charity concert at Kelvin Hall in Glasgow, she was approached by Scottish Television to participate in a new show to be produced in Edinburgh. In this she was able to sing and design the graphics that accompanied her performance. The BBC also approached her for occasional television and radio work and she fielded offers of some local 'live' club work. But, despite this interest and the occasional social contact with professional folksingers like Nina & Frederick and Peter, Paul & Mary, she resolutely resisted the temptation to return to “the rat-race of show-biz”. At the end of 1968, as winter approached, Tina accepted an invitation from an old Adelaide friend, Graham Wright, to spend Christmas in Kenya. Wright was working in Africa as a free-lance pilot and was able to arrange a free return flight for her on a charter aircraft. The only condition he put on her accepting his offer was: “bring your guitar and sing for your supper!” Tina Lawton She arrived in Nairobi on 22 December and, after spending the weekend in Mombasa, she, Graham Wright and his friend Chris Paul, flew out of Nairobi en route to Lake Baringo where they planned to spend Christmas. They never arrived, the small Comanche aircraft in which they travelled crashing into the crater of Mount Longonot soon after take-off. The wreckage was not discovered until several days later and, on December 28th, a rescue party climbed into the crater and located the bodies of the three victims. The nature of the terrain made recovery impossible and a decision was made to bury them in shallow graves on the crater floor. The Accident Investigation Report concluded that, flying inside the crater, the pilot had been blinded as he banked directly into the rays of the setting sun. A memorial service was held in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Nairobi, on Friday 17thJanuary 1969 and, later, a stone memorial cairn was erected on the rim of the crater. In Adelaide, her death was the lead story in the Advertiser (30th December 1968), a new organ was dedicated to her memory in the family's church and an exhibition of her drawings, graphics and oil paintings was mounted at the Bonython Gallery in North Adelaide the following year. |

Search | Add | 5 | Browntown Looters | Members: Oscar F. (D.J. Clear) Venegas Tony (Citric-T) Campos Richard S. (Skinny) Lopez Coming straight from the East Los Angeles hip-hop underground are the Brown Town Looters. The Brown Town Looters have been around for many years. The group was formed back in 1989, when the group was originally named Brown Town. The original members were Critic-T (Boyle Heights), D.J. Clear, and Shotgun (both of Montebello). In 1990, a street-smart homie known as Skinny (East Los) joined the group. In 1992, Brown Town released their first single entitled "Dope House in the Ghetto" on Explicit Records. That summer, Brown Town was performing at various clubs and car shows. That group was getting ready to release their album, since reviews of their shows were very positive. In 1993, their manager, who was also managing "Proper Dos," mismanaged Brown Town. The group decided not to retain him as their manager after backlash was felt from his management tactics. Also in 1993, Shotgun left the group, branching out on his own solo endeavors. In 1994, the group picked up a new rapper, Cash Phlow of South Central Los Angeles. 1994 also brought with it a new name, Brown Town Looters. With this new-year and new name, Brown Town Looters were coming into their own. Also in '94 they released a two-song promotional Compact Disc. The group also began to make appearance at lowrider car shows and concerts. At about the same time, the group started working on another album and were in the process of negotiating to sign with a record label. In 1995, the group met with Future Entertainment, after which, the Brown Town Looters' ads were seen in various magazines such as High Times, The Source, etc. With this new-found exposure, the group, along with Jose Lopez (Skinny's brother) of Looters Management, and Future Entertainment created Hemp Town Records. HempTown Records was created to manufacture cassette tapes and Compact Discs of Brown Town Looter's unreleased album, "Koncrete Phunk." All they needed was a distribution system for their album. Unfortunately, due to Future Entertainment's mismanagement, this never happened. After this fiasco, Citric-T and Cash Phlow joined together with D.J. Ray of "Cruising with La Raza," a cable show on Buenavision Cable in East Los Angeles. D.J. Ray asked Citric-T and Cash Phlow to host the show in East L.A. while he hosted the show in Arizona. This arrangement allowed the Brown Town Looters to gain greater exposure. At about the same time, the group met other hip-hop groups and formed a hip-hop family which as known as "Brown Town Looters Click." The "Click" consisted of Brown Town Looters, featuring Mr. Juvenile, 2-Phattal, Explicit, and Lil' Indian. In 1996, Citric-T and Cash Phlow left the cable show and began their own cable show called "Undaground Flava." The show consisted of rap/hip-hop videos and interviews with guest from the hip-hop Industry such as Cypress Hill, W.C., Doveshack, Mellow Man Ace, and Delinquent Habits. Looter's Management was also booking shows left and right. Brown Town Looters were performing with music artists such as Cypress Hill, Ice-T, Coolio, Zapp, Rodney O and Joe Cooley, Kid Frost, and Mack 10. In August of 1996, the Brown Town Looters, featuring Mr. Juvenile, were featured in the "Definition of Brown" compilation, a product of Latino owned Green Side Records. In 1997, Looters' Management made a deal with John Lozoya (one of the original creators of Lowrider Magazine) of Super Event Entertainment for a Mid-West tour, taking Brown Town Looters to Texas, Arizona and New Mexico, promoting their new album, "Live and Learn." This new tour brought new friendships for Brown Town Looters. One such friendship with Street Smart Clothing, a company associated with Top Nation Clothing. This alliance brought Brown Town Looters a new line of Brown Town Looters clothing (gear). This association also led to a Japan Super Car Show as the headliners. In January 1998, "Definitions of Brown, Part Two" was released and again Brown Town Looters were included. BTL released their "Live and Learn" album on September 18, 1998.
