Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025
Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 3 | Os Nazaritos | Os Nazaritos, formerly called Os Nazarenos is a Brazilian Christian rock band. The band was formed by Gustavo Legal in 1998 in Itaguaí, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Mixing rhythms such as ska, rock, country music and reggae, Nazaritos create a kind of comical rock in the evangelical scene. With the support of Ronaldo Barros, father of singer Aline Barros, the band signed with AB Records and released their first CD in 1999, making it a huge success in Gospel. With the band's departure from AB Records to the Top Gospel label, the members changed the group's name to Os Nazaritos. In 2001, he performed at Rock in Rio III at Tenda Brasil together with Los Hermanos, Ls Jack among others. It was considered, by Roberto Medina himself (Creator of Rock in Rio), that the Band's presentation would be on Palco Mundo before the Iron Maiden Band's presentation. But the band thought it would be better to perform on Teen day at Tenda Brasil as they would have more time to perform. After long years of hiatus, the group returned to activities in 2016, for a commemorative tour, and released, in 2017, the EP O Emergente. In February 2022, Banda leader Gustavo Legal announced the Band's return to the stage. Despite the similarities with Mamonas Assassinas, the band states that their main influences were the singer Falcão and the band Blitz, and that the association with Mamonas was marketing for the record label AB Records.

Search | Add | 3 | Wayne Downey | Wayne R. Downey | Wayne Downey's involvement in music began in 1960 as a third grader in Commack, New York as a trumpet player in the elementary band. A few years later, the local Fire department organized a fife, drum and bugle corps to perform at various civic events and at fireman's parades. Wayne's next-door neighbor (a fireman) persuaded him to march in the corps. After several seasons, Wayne became more attracted to a drum and bugle corps in nearby Smithton, New York, primarily because their horns had a valve and a slide. He marched with the Smithtown Freelancers in 1966, 1967, and 1968. In 1969, his senior year in high school, Wayne marched in the Long Island [a8590293] as one of their soprano soloists. At the same time his father, who was an elementary school principal, interviewed for and accepted a job in California, which required relocation. The family departed during the summer of 1969, leaving Wayne behind to march with the Sunrisers. Wayne planned on finishing out the season with the Sunrisers and taking advantage of a music scholarship offered to him by Florida State University. However, midway through the summer, Wayne decided it was best to join his parents in California. "After all, great weather is great weather no matter which coast you soak it up on." With this in mind, he elicited the help of friends (including Dave Shaw, Editor of Drum Corps Digest) to locate any drum and bugle corps on the West coast. Wayne was informed of a three-year old corps located in Santa Clara, California called the [a473043]. Ironically, his parents had moved just one block away from the home of the Vanguard's corps director, [a4670281]. Wayne marched soprano bugle with Vanguard during the end of the 1969 season, and all of 1970-72. In 1971, Santa Clara's brass instructor [a5983459] left the corps. Jack was replaced as brass instructor by Wayne (one of the soprano soloists in the corps) and [a8735443] (an "age out" from the previous season), led by Gail Royer as music director and arranger. Wayne "aged out" in 1972. During that season, the professional relationship between Wayne and Gail had soured and Wayne was politely "relieved of his responsibilities" as brass instructor at the end of the season. In 1973, Wayne instructed the reigning World Champion [a8838508], and the [a8590005]. He was teaching the Commodores on Tuesday evenings, and then flying down to Los Angeles on Wednesdays to teach the Kingsmen. During the winter months, Wayne drove to LA every weekend to instruct the Kingsmen and finally moved to LA in the summer. After the drum corps season was completed, Wayne moved back to San Francisco to complete his last year of undergraduate work at nearby San Jose State University. Meanwhile, the position for San Jose State's marching band director became available and Wayne interviewed for the job "just for the hell of it". The next day, San Jose State University Band Director and undergraduate student Wayne Downey met his secretary, moved into his office, and prepared for next season. For the next two years Wayne wrote the drill and the music, directed one of the jazz/pep bands, and taught a marching band techniques class. During his first week as band director, Wayne received a telephone call from [a4670283], the director of the Concord [a1063612]. Jerry expressed interest in having Wayne teach the [a1063612]. Wayne reluctantly agreed to help audition of new people for the corps' 1974 season. "There was this for incredible magnetic energy that drew me into the organization" says Wayne of his first visit to Concord. At that time, [a8892724] was the brass instructor and arranger for the [a1063612]. Wayne and Jim were already good friends from their times together instructing the Commodores and marching in the Vanguard. Ultimately, Wayne decided to take the job as brass instructor with the [a1063612]. In 1974, the [a1063612] improved their placement at [l153566] (DCI) Nationals from 24th to 9th place. The next year, from 9th to 3rd, and the corps took their first DCI Title in 1976, the quickest three year ascent in DCI history. Wayne was now twenty-five years old. After graduating from [l277506] with a degree in secondary music education, Wayne opted to work full-time for gal the Concord [a1063612] and has been there ever since. Today, Wayne Downey has reached "icon" status in the drum corps community. He has enriched drum corps and high school and college marching bands throughout the world with his instructional techniques and carefully crafted musical arrangements. He continues to arrange, adjudicate, and instruct, and he still somehow manages to make time to consult and conduct clinics for Yamaha Music Corporation of America. |

Search | Add | 3 | Urban Idols | Chicago, 1998: Impressive guitarist Mike Byrne (formerly of the Vindictives & the Geeks), backbone bassist Jason Baygood (the Tupacs and Civic) steady man Tre (Vindictives, New Granadas) on drums and the energetic "firecracker" vocalist Dan Loughead join together to become the Urban Idols. Although their influences grow from Chicago classics Naked Raygun and Pegboy as well as Ireland's best, Stiff Little Fingers, a new spin is put on this old school sound. They master the tricky balance of producing powerful "in your face" music with the necessary catches and hooks to make driving, memorable songs...

Search | Add | 3 | Danielle Thermidor | Genre: Haitian, Jazz, Latin. Hometown: Cap Haitien Danielle Thermidor was born in Cap-Haitien, Haiti. She is the 4th child of nine. She started singing at a very young age. Her mother used to take her to the sea early in the morning to exercise her voice. She was about 14 years old when she first performed at College Notre Dame. At the age of 24 she went to Port au Prince where she made her first album called "Annie". After the publication of her first album she went back to her hometown and performed at the "Salle Paroissiale, one of the oldest and well known theaters in Cap-Haitien. While at Port au Prince, she participated in numerous shows including the international spectacular "La Maya". There she shared the stage with other well known artist like Ansy Derose. After her second album, "Danielle Thermidor chante l' amour", she performed multiple times at Rex Theatre, Kilimanjaro, in Europe........ For years Danielle Thermidor was a celebrated voice in Caribbean and African communities. Her voice commanded attention whenever she took the stage and she was received with endless applause. She left the scene to pursue her education in the United States, where she attended the schools of her dreams Columbia University and Katherine Gibbs. She married Guy R. Richard and had a beautiful daughter named Guylda. She settled down to raise her daughter and guide her through life. With her daughter leaving the nest she is now devoted to doing what she does best- singing and taking back the stage. With the help of her family, fans and her sis/manager, Yanick Thermidor, she just released her new album "I’m back Fanm Vanyan". Once again ready to share her talents with the world, you will rediscover her with pleasure. Danielle Thermidor, a true "Fanm Vanyan" - A determined lady who has decided to follow her mother's step and to better serve her public by earning a degree in Education in May of 2015.

Search | Add | 3 | Mou Brasil | In the 2000s, Mou created the group “ Bahia Black ”, which stood out for its pioneering spirit in the concept of instrumental creation based on Afro-Bahian rhythms. Through compositional and experimental research based on the rhythms of candomblé, Mou was able to combine his work with an authorial value and explore its essence as an improviser. That same year, he spent four months in Hong Kong, where he played with Angelita Lee, Tady Lo and Eugene Pao . Mou started his contact with music from an early age in the environment of the BRASIL family , a traditional family of musicians from Bahia. Studied with Samuel Mota, Nicola Stilo and Hélio Delmiro at the age of 17, he already traced his professional life playing in the Jazz Carmo Quarteto group . Later he played in Cozinha Baiana and Raposa Velha , important groups of experimental instrumental music of the time. Later he participated in the still active Grupo Garagem for about five years, with which he recorded two albums and performed in Los Angeles and toured all over Brazil, with the participation of musicians such as Leo Gandelman and Heraldo do Monte . In search of a universalist sound, Mou Brasil traveled to different countries and lived in different cities. In 1990, he moved to Switzerland , where he lived for a year and played with Steve Thorton and pianist Jeff Gardner . The partnership with Jeff earned him the invitation to record his first solo album in 1992, on the French label Musidisc. Released in Paris, where the artist lived on occasion, The CD " Esperança " is essentially authorial and has the participation of musicians such as Jacques Morelenbaum, Sizão Machado, Jeff Gardner, Carlos Bala, Don Chacal, Fernando Moraes, Sizinho, Villa Lobos Quartet , Jorginho Gomes, Luiz Brasil and Marcos Lobo. The launch show took place at EuroDisney and was attended by Nelson Veras. In 1995, he moved to New York, where he lived for a year and played with Stefano Belmondo, Paulo Braga and Joannes Weiis Miller. Mou Brasil played with important names of instrumental music such as Marcio Montarroyos, Arthur Maia, Heraldo do Monte, Nivaldo Ornelas, Nelson Ayres, Steve Thorton, Jurim Moreira, Sidinho Moreira, Alain Jean Marie, Lula Nascimento and Anunciação. He accompanied important artists from the Brazilian scene. He played with Caetano Veloso on the tour of the album “ Fina Estampa ”, in a trio formed together with cellist Jacques Morelenbaum and percussionist Mingo Araújo (Spain and Italy). He accompanied Gal Costa for four years , alternating tours of the show “ Chico e Caetano ” and DVD “Acoustic” all over Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, United States, Spain, Israel, Japan and Portugal. With Virginia Rodrigues he was in Australia, Malaysia and the United States as the show “Sol Negro”. His discography includes participations withJoão Donato, Vinícius Cantuária, Gal Costa, Mauro Refosco, Arthur Maia, Jeff Gardner and Jussara Silveira, Tamanduá Group (Switzerland). Due to his long professional career, he has been invited to teach improvisation courses and workshops at Catholic Universities and Music Schools . Five years ago he created his quartet and has performed in important projects such as Segundas Musicais, Mercado Cultural and in shows alongside artists like Larry Corryel and Stanley Jordan , as well as directing works by artists from the independent scene.

His music is characterized by its hard-hitting rhythms and psychedelic soundscapes and can be considered as a reflection of his creative vision and his approach in producing, which he sums up with: "I want to produce music I'd like to dance to myself." The tracks often feature elements of hip hop and psychedelic trance, which gives them a unique edge while he is always exploring new worlds of sound and trying to push his boundaries. His love for many different styles of music is the reason to release under a multitude of aliasses (some are:vicioustrax, vlrk, vctr, louis kay, Papy Louis, p0lytox). In all the years producing, he has honed his craft and developed a unique style that has won him a following among a small loyal circle of technoheads from his hometown Berlin. - For booking requests please write an e-mail to: bookingsvctracks@gmail.com |

Search | Add | 3 | Midnattsorkestern | Formed 2009 in Gothenburg, Sweden. It was composed by David Löfberg who wrote music and lyrics for a dream ensemble consisting of the singer Elina Ryd, string quartet (Malvakvartetten), guitar, accordion and double bass. The fairly consistent theme of fine-tuned melancholy and night mood in music and lyrics soon gave the orchestra its name. The music is cross-genre, almost a kind of chamber music that borders on show and chanson. Singing and lyrics are central, but at the same time the instrumental is given a large place in the arrangements with winks to tango, jazz, etc., also based on the musicians' different backgrounds. The focus is on the melodies. Over the years, the orchestra has made about a hundred performances in a variety of contexts (see performance history) and received a great response from a large and wide audience. In the autumn of 2014, Midnattsorkestern released the full-length album "Over the City Roof - Songs by David Löfberg" on the company Kakafon. The album was very well received in the press and has been played extensively on the radio. In 2016, Midnattsorkestern tried a collaboration for the first time when a string orchestra, Camerata Gothia, temporarily had to shoulder the role of the string quartet with a large ensemble as a result. This worked very well and is something we would like to do again with more ensembles of different kinds, amateur or professional.

Search | Add | 3 | Ska Maria Pastora | Ska Maria Pastora | The band Ska Maria Pastora from Recife in state of Pernambuco/Brazil is another great example of Afro Diaspora in the Americas. For sure a very special one since the inspiration for their music come from another Afro Diaspora with a not less grand history in the world music as their home country itself. We are talking about Ska the rhythm that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s and was the precursor of rocksteady and reggae. To mention a legendary band representing this music and active nowadays in different constellation of musicians, The Skatalites, a reference in Ska Maria Pastora’s work. Here we are with a dose of Afro Diaspora with an amazing connection, Brazil and Jamaica. These are separated just geographically, however deeply united through their African ancestry. Despite being under two criminal colonial methods, the Portuguese and the British, in both cases people’s resistance gave birth to musical rhythms that have conquered the world with a method less criminal than the one used by their colonizers. Politics and history are important, but let us concentrate on what these guys do best, MUSIC! Ska is a very well-known music genre, although not that much in Brazil, where people are normally busy with their own genres. In Recife you have Coco, Maracatu, Forró and many others. Ska Maria Pastora’s main influence is Frevo, a dance and musical style originated from Recife and which rhythm is similar to Ska. The band does a superb job in merging and integrating these two hot styles. Its interpretation of Jamaican Ska with the addition of north-Brazilian influences lets us enjoy something that everyone knows but with a lot of elements that only people in that region of Brazil know. For those in the world who are not familiar with the way how Brazilian musical junction works, be prepared! Ska Maria Pastora shows what it is to rediscover and revisit Ska music through a passion, energy and inspiration that uses the harmonies of Frevo in order to poison Jamaican music. The result is an effervescent dance music, typically neither refined nor popular, universal but with identity. Formed in 2008, Ska Maria Pastora is an instrumental music project of musicians who have in common a taste for Ska, Reggae and, of course, Frevo. Taking advantage of the similarity between these styles, the band made Olinda’s main rhythm Frevo the melodic basis for their Ska compositions. Ska Maria Pastora has been influenced by Capiba, Nelson Ferreira, Spok Frevo Orchestra, Rotterdam Ska Jazz Foundation, Don Drummond and The Skatalites, the main exponent of ska, who mixed European music with the Caribbean. |

Search | Add | 3 | Escaso Aporte | Trayectoria. Compromiso. Diversidad musical.
