Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 2 | Тодор Попов | Todor Popov | Todor Popov is the poet among Bulgarian composers, strongly influenced by Bulgarian national folklore. He is a master of choral music, well known to generations of Bulgarians with his popular songs. Often called "Bulgarian Brahms", he is among the most beloved Bulgarian authors. His work ranges from popular music such as "Play, Accordion" to symphonies that reflect his constant search for the perfect melodic expression. The voice is the most important instrument in the work of Todor Popov and it is no coincidence that he is among the main authors who worked with the internationally recognized choir ‘Bodra smyana’. But the truth is that there is no Bulgarian choir that has not included in its repertoire songs by Todor Popov, because his music is close to the perfect combination of lyrical text and sound. |

The Lost Ford Tapes: A Grand Rapids Music Sampler": This trash trio has 2 self produced-cassettes out and a third in the works. Drummer Greg Krupp's thunderous throb lays a frantic foundation for Jim Visser's searing, often spastic guitar shrieks and Mike Miller's tremulous, distorted fret-attacks and maniacal vocals. A mutated mixture of garage rock, rock-a-billy, and straight ahead blues (no bass allowed!).

Search | Add | 2 | Adult Mayflys | Rotorua, New Zealand - not a place known for 'indie' or alternative rock music but it had a small and lively scene from the mid to late 1980s. Acts such as the Boogadagas, Calamari Bushmen, Da Hubcaps, Lounge Lizards, Book of Martyrs, Pet Cemetary, Big Fat Torturous Band, Dufty Baker, the Earthlings, P.D. Corp and Adult Mayflys played to audiences that wanted more than "pub rock in a tourist town". Many of the musicians who made up these acts crossed over into each others bands at one time or another. With very few venues that supported local music, gigs often took place at someone's house, the Rotorua Art Gallery at Tudor Towers or the legendary Homestead Tavern. Sometimes bands scored a support act for a more well-known act traveling through town or ventured out to Tauranga, Hamilton or even Auckland for the odd gig. In some cases (Book of Martyrs) the bands relocated outside of Rotorua and found more success, appearing in the likes of Stamp and RipItUp magazines and heard on student radio. Most of these bands found their way to Zed Brookes' Tandy's recording studio, just outside of Hamilton to record. Luckily many of these recordings still exist despite only being released on cassette only. Like many original bands who originated from the provinces of New Zealand at the time, the Rotorua bands (or 'Mudpool sound') were mostly overlooked in favor of acts from the main centers such as Auckland, Wellington and of course Dunedin with its Flying Nun legacy. There is no doubt if these Rotorua acts were in fact based in Dunedin back then, they may have become household names like the Chills, The Clean or the Verlaines now are. Sometimes geography is a hinderance but also determines the sound that ultimately defines you. Hopefully in the digital age more archives of the Mudpool bands will make their way to the ears of music fans who will discover a piece of New Zealand music they may not have known ever existed. The Adult Mayflys consisted of Dave Bishop, Jeremy Taylor and Graeme Anderson and produced a typically 'New Zealand' style indie rock. Anderson was also a member of pioneering Flying Nun act the Stones with Jeff Batts and Wayne Elsey; Bishop went on to form the Big White Indie Band at the end of the 80s, the Earthlings in the early 90s, the successful Peter Stuyvesant Hitlist in the late-90s and is now a solo artist in his own right as "Davey Beige" with a new album due in Sept 2017. Taylor moved on to join the Calamari Bushmen.

Search | Add | 2 | Adam Popovich | Adam Popovich | Adam Popovich was born in 1909 in Denver, Colorado. His father, Nikola Popovich, a Serbian immigrant from Lika (part of Croatia), worked on the railroads and in the coal mines of northern Colorado and Nevada. When Adam and his brothers were young, their parents instilled in them a love of traditional music by teaching them the epic songs of his homeland. Adam and his brothers, Eli and Ted, began to take tamburitza lessons in 1924, walking five miles to an immigrant teacher in a nearby mining town. Tamburitza is the term for a family of five-fretted stringed instruments, the prima, brac, celo, bugarija, and berda. They range in size from smaller than a mandolin to larger than a string bass. In 1925, the Popovich brothers formed their own tamburitza orchestra and began playing for Serbian celebrations throughout the western states, but they probably attained their greatest popularity in the steel towns of Indiana and in the Chicago area, where they finally settled. Adam played celo, and was recognized by his brothers as the "mentor" of the group. Together, they performed at social events — weddings, dances, and church socials, and in neighborhood taverns and clubs. For them, "playing tambura [a stringed instrument or plucked lute] is a song from the heart." To support his family, Adam worked as a millwright in the steel mills, but managed to find the time to not only play tamburitza music, but to sing in the Sloboda Choir, the church choir at St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church. He also studied piano, harmony, and composition with Joseph Kindl, Sloboda's choirmaster, and when Kindl retired in 1936, Popovich became choir director. Under Popovich's direction, Sloboda became a widely respected choir, known throughout the Serbian American communities for its high musical standards and faithful membership, which included three and four generations of families. As choir director, Popovich led rehearsals and public performances, arranged music, and translated many pieces into the Serbian language. During World War II, several of the brothers served overseas, and after the war the Popovich Brothers tamburitza orchestra resumed playing. The brothers also opened a tavern-nightspot, Club Selo. The club served Serbian food, and local tamburashi (tamburitza musicians) provided the entertainment. A few years later, they sold the club, and Adam returned to work in the steel mills, continuing his music in his leisure time. In 1976, Popovich organized a large tamburitza orchestra to accompany the Sloboda Choir for their bicentennial concert. Prominent tamburashi from all around the Chicago area came to play for him, and together they formed the Chicago Tambura Ensemble with the membership of about 25 established tamburashi. Ensembles of this kind originated in the European nationalistic movements of the late 1800s, when musicians worked to create what might be called a "national" classical music. Deriving their inspiration from these early efforts, the Ensemble built a repertoire that featured orchestral arrangements of traditional Serbian melodies and light classical music by Serbian and other composers. In addition to presenting large-scale concerts, the Ensemble offered musical instruction for young people and maintained associations with other adult groups, such as the Pittsburgh Tamburitza Philharmonic and the Detroit Tamburitza Symphony. |

Search | Add | 2 | Pio Treviño | When one thinks of Tejano Music, Pio Trevino Y Majic automatically come to mind. Few artists can boast of the fame and longevity that Pio Trevino Y Majic have enjoyed. Starting as a vocalist in the early 70's for regional groups such as Los Exitos, and Sangre Chicana, Pio Trevino drew national attention when he became lead singer for "La Movida". The group became an instant success, making Pio Trevino a household name. Pio was the lead vocalist and composer of many of "La Movida's" songs for several years until the formation of his own group called "Majic". The name Majic was chosen, as Pio Trevino would sometimes dress in a magician's outfit while performing. The group recorded for such labels as Hacienda, RCA International and later CBS International. In 1988, Pio Trevino Y Majic was nominated for a Grammy award

Search | Add | 2 | Basijo | Basijo | Born in Yogyakarta 1916 & Died August 31, 1979, Yogyakarta, Basiyo is a comedian from Yogyakarta who speaks Javanese. Lawakan Basiyo became famous in the Central Java region through radio, television (TVRI) broadcasts, and various recordings. The jokes are often referred to as the Mataram Dagelan, according to the name of the show at RRI Yogyakarta. In comedy, he used to work together with Sudarsono, Hardjo Gepeng, Supar. He is not only a comedian, but also succeeded in popularizing the type of gending "Pangkur Jenggleng", namely, the Javanese way of singing (nembang) which can be interspersed with comedy, without losing the rhythm of the song being sung. The way to beat the gamelan is unusual, because it relies more on the drum as the main accompaniment to finally use the last beat (bar) as time to hit all percussion instruments (especially the saron) as loud as possible. Although using Javanese language and "old product", the name Basiyo reappeared. Basiyo often collaborated with names of famous artists in the world and his time, such as Bagong Kussudihardjo, Ki Nartosabdo, Nyi Tjondrolukito, and others. Some of his admirers, such as cultural observer Umar Kayam, painter Affandi. Family : Basiyo is known to have been married three times. His first wife named Mrs. Karto, gave him 7 children. Then from his second wife, Mrs. Sri Suparti, Basiyo has 5 children. Meanwhile, with his third wife, Mrs. Pudjiyem, was not blessed with children. Pudjiyem was the one who accompanied Basiyo to perform on stage until the end of his life. Basiyo died on August 31, 1979 and was buried in Terban Public Cemetery, Yogyakarta |
