Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Terry Pack's Trees Trees is the brainchild of Brighton based bassist and composer Terry Pack. With a career spanning more than four decades and including spells with The Enid, Cozy Powell, Graham Bonnet and Steve Hackett to name but a few, Terry has in recent years turned his focus onto jazz and improvised music. His recent musical collaborations read like a ‘who’s who’ of the British jazz scene (Claire Martin, The Cloggz, Ben Castle, Bobby Wellins, Nigel Price, Martin France). The seed for Trees was planted when Mark Bassey (trombonist/composer and educator) encouraged Terry to take his compositions to workshops, ensembles and big bands. An enthusiastic response encouraged him to write and arrange more pieces and the natural evolution of Trees began. An ‘unfeasibly large ensemble’ performing an eclectic mix of contemporary and groove-based compositions, Trees is now an ensemble comprising up to 40 musicians at any time and is one of the most exciting new musical projects in and around Brighton. Imaginative, fresh arrangements of classic tunes fuse seamlessly with innovative compositions by the bandleader and band members alike.

Search Add 2 Jacob's Room Jacob's Room were a south London indie guitar group based in Hither Green between 1985 and 1986. They played a small number of local gigs as a three-piece before disbanding. An eight-song demo was recorded on a Fostex four-track mainly to attract new members, no copies appear to have survived. Jacob’s Room were notable at the time for their melancholy baritone vocals, treated guitars, and texture-rich multi-keyboards that preceded the broader genres of Shoegaze and Dream Pop. During the autumn of 2022, Dave Fennessy rekindled his musical partnership with Gary Parker, suggesting that even though it had been 37 years, they should rerecord the eight original songs from memory to see how they would have sounded, using equipment of the time that they couldn't then afford. During this process, Gary presented several new and recent songs to add to the 21-track album project, Then & Now. This was released during July 2023.

Search Add 2 Vernon Building Society Poynton Brass Band The original Poynton Band first started in the early 1800's in the coal mining village of Poynton. The exact year is not known, but records show that it was thriving by 1824 and that Lady Vernon, who was involved with charity work for miners families, provided the Band with new uniforms in 1832. Before World War II, and in the previous century, the band played at Civic events, including the May Sunday Parade and "Walking Day" (Whitsun) in June, the Poynton Show in August, Armistice Sunday and Christmas Carolling and various Church services. Notable parades since World War II have included the Queen's Coronation in 1953 and her Jubilee in 1977.

Search Add 2 Montys Travellin Music Show International What brings these three Leicester lads, a Frenchman and a German together? Well the answer has to be musicman John Montague after all his years of playing and collaborating with many musicians both in the UK and afar. John had been working with French Multi-Instrumentalist Thierry Guillemot for over 15 years both in the UK and France. Leicester people will remember Thierry as he lived here for about 4 years around the late 90's. Also John had been working with the brilliant guitarist from Germany Marten Alex Rolf. After introducing local Bassman Keith Brooks and Drummer Alex Warwick, from igenisis to the other guys the chemistry and musicianship just naturally blended. Hence Montys Travellin Music Show International was born.

Search Add 2 andremustdie Andre Rodriguez A year ago, Andre Rodriguez, made a decision that changed the course of his life. He was doing the classic thing of writing music in his bedroom. andremustdie was born in a ten-by-ten room in Los Angeles, CA. In that space he writes, records, and produces all his songs. Growing up in Caracas, Venezuela, Andre couldn’t have felt further from the epicenter of music. Growing up so far away from the USA and in a country with no strong music industry presence, neither his family nor close friends had ties to the recording industry; in fact, many of them were skeptical initially about his newfound pursuit. Just releasing music and putting it out there felt like a huge accomplishment to Andre. Having a reason and a goal to wake up in the morning, is central to andremustdie’s vision and happiness. AMD thinks that the music he writes is more than melodic phrases on a beat, it’s an open book of personal experiences and thoughts for everyone to listen and hopefully to relate to.

Search Add 2 Alien Pathway 22 Project born as an experiment by the man behind [a=Black Mountains Chronicles], [a=Immortal Agony], [a=Kurai Keshiki] and, in the past, [a=Tombstone]. This experiment sounds very differently from the other projects, since it uses a lot of synth sounds which give a sci-fi taste to the tracks, together with, of course, the pertaining titles. Music is made instrumental but contains some transformed (alienated) vocal samples from real talking girls and some sci-fi old movies. The synth is played live and not programmed and drums are used only on some tracks. Sometimes the soundscapes are a little similar to Immortal Agony but tracks are very different one from each other, so there is a lot of variety. Imagine a genre which you can call Space Death Industrial, but which in some moments blends into Space Ambient and in others transforms into weird Noise collages.
