Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 30/03/2026

Found 621899 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 4 Gribojedow Gribojedow is an ephemeral group. It appears on the stages of Toruń for over 20 years, constantly changing lineups, ideas and image. Still half a step between debut and routine, between underground and local sky. There were "ethnic", "free", "electronic" and finally "song" years in the band's history. Always a little bit in their own way, a bit against the tide, a little different.

Search Add 4 Hugo Wahrlich Hugo Johann Christian Andreas Wahrlich German-born viola player and conductor (b. January 1, 1856 in Kassel, Hesse, Germany – d. January 23, 1922 in St. Petersburg, Russia (then called Petrograd)) Wahrlich, known in Russian as Гуго Иванович Варлих (Hugo Ivanovich Warlich), played first viola with the Mannheim symphony orchestra from 1874. In the late 1870s, when the orchestra toured Russia, he remained in the country, working first as a viola player. In 1888, he became Second Assistant Conductor of the Imperial Court Orchestra ([a=Императорский Придворный Оркестр]) in St. Petersburg. After increasingly replacing its main conductor, Hermann Fliege, for important performances, Wahrlich completely took over the direction of this orchestra in 1907, after Fliege death. In 1902, when the orchestra began to give public performances, Wahrlich started an annual concert series introducing new works by Russian composers. In 1909, for example, Wahrlich directed the Russian debut of [a= Alexander Scriabine]'s "Le Poème de l’Extase." Wahrlich himself composed the march Наследник Цесаревич (“Naslednik Tsarevich”) in honor of Grand Prince Alexei (1913). Around 1903, Wahrlich conducted the Imperial Court Orchestra on several recordings for [l=Columbia]. Later, he also recorded for [l=Amour] and [l=Zonophone]. After the Russian Revolution, Wahrlich was allowed to stay on for a while with what became Soviet Russia's first philharmonic orchestra, but only as Assistant Conductor. From 1919 to his death, he conducted military brass bands in Petrograd.

Search Add 4 Adege Andrew DeGarmo Techno DJ and Producer from Michigan with roots in Detroit. A dark warehouse, a distant strobe light and unrepentant dancing by people from all walks of life with an affinity toward the darkness of repetitive delayed out reverberating basslines and drum beats. This is what I recall of my first underground party under the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit, circa 2001. This experience spoke to me. In fact, this event set the stage for what has been 20 years of musical cultivation and growth. Many life detours have taken place along the way, but techno has been a constant through it all.

Search Add 4 Port Talbot Cymric Male Choir The Cymric as it is affectionately known is one of the oldest choirs in Wales having been established in 1911 by Mr John Bowen Davies. During the 1920’s and 30’s it competed regularly in local Eisteddfodau and during this period it sang at some unusual and interesting venues. In 1927 it fulfilled a week’s booking at The Palace Theatre Blackpool for the princely fee of £75.00, and in 1935 was invited by Randolph Hearst the newspaper magnate to sing at St Donat’s Castle in South Wales for celebrities of the film and newspaper world. The choir has had the privilege of appearing at The Royal Albert Hall in London in the presence of the Queen and HRH Prince Phillip and is extremely proud of the fact that during a concert tour of Deeside Aberdeenshire in 1990 the choir was invited to sing at Crathie Church Balmoral when both the Queen and HRH Prince Edward were in attendance. The Queen expressed her delight at the choirs singing and subsequently invited Choristers to Balmoral Castle. In May 1991 Rita Macneil , made a concert tour of the UK and during her appearance at St David’s Hall Cardiff she invited the Cymric on stage where she expressed her delight at the ‘Cymric’s rendition of her song ‘The Working Man’ and subsequently graciously allowed the choir to perform additional items. Since its inception the choir has had Six Musical Directors, On the death of John Bowen Davies in 1957 , the baton was handed over to Mrs Iris Evans Thomas who had been the Choir’s Accompanist since 1927. She remained the Musical Director until her death in 1973 when Roger Chicott who directed the Choir up until his regrettable passing in 2001 succeeded her. Mr Gareth Sims held the position until 2005, when he was succeeded Mrs Mair Jones who retired from the Choir in 2015. Matthew Lewis was appointed as the Choir’s Musical Director in October 2015

Literally from their first day on the job at Kenny School in Minneapolis, the couple was writing songs for and with their students. So, along with their indie pop band [a=The Humbugs], the Marshalls recorded and released “Rock-n-Roll Recess,” under the new alter-ego band name “The Bazillions.”

Search Add 4 William S. Bachman William Stephen Bachman Jr. American audio engineer, inventor and distinguished high-fidelity pioneer (29 October 1908, Williamsport, Pennsylvania — 8 April 1996, Greenville, Delaware). William S. Bachman was a Director of Engineering and Research at [l=Columbia Records, Inc.], known for several crucial contributions to vinyl manufacturing technology, such as developing a 33⅓ RPM long-playing record and leading a workgroup that standardized the "RIAA equalization curve." Bachman served on numerous industry commissions, was a Senior Member (1954) and Fellow (56) of the Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE, later [l=IEEE]) and a Fellow of the [l=Audio Engineering Society], which granted him various accolades, including the AES Silver Medal (1955) and Honorary Membership in 1973. Bachman graduated from [l=Cornell University] in 1932 with an electrical engineering degree and began working for [l=General Electric]'s Radio Receiver Engineering Department the same year. His most notable design was a GE Model DM 1RM 6C variable reluctance pickup, which offered a significantly broader frequency range on phonograph discs. In 1946, [a=Peter C. Goldmark], chief scientist at [l=CBS Laboratories], convinced Bachman to quit GE and come to Columbia Records to work on the company's most ambitious project. With [a=Howard H. Scott], Bachman continued Columbia's early research into a "long-playing" phonograph record that would fit at least 20 minutes of audio per side, with various attempts done as early as 1939 but halted during World War II. The company held a press conference to unveil an LP format in June 1948 at [l=Waldorf Astoria Hotel] in Midtown Manhattan, New York. The first-ever LP album, Mendelssohn's [r=3899231] by [a=The New York Philharmonic Orchestra] under [a=Bruno Walter]'s baton, was released on [l=Columbia Masterworks] in September 1948. Bachman outlined the technical aspects of his invention in "The Columbia Long-Playing Microgroove Recording System" article, co-authored with Goldmark and his assistant, René Snepvangers, for Proceedings of the IRE, Vol. 37, No. 8 in August 1949. William Bachman continued working on various aspects of vinyl manufacturing and reproduction at Columbia Records, creating a feather-edge hot-stylus disc-cutting system, automatic variable pitch groove spacing technique, and viscous-damped reproducer tonearms. He was responsible for acoustics control and designing the equipment for the modernized [l=Columbia Recording Studios] in 1960. In 1953, Bachman joined a newly-formed Technical Committee at the Recording Industry Association of America, tasked with drafting specifications for pre/de-emphasis EQ for the new LP format. "Emphasis" equalization is a critical aspect of phonograph disc-cutting, necessary for longer duration and for reducing groove wear during playback. Since 1940, each record company has had a proprietary technology, with dozens of various turnover/roll-off EQ frequencies on the market: Columbia-78, Decca-U.S., Victor-78, BBC, NAB, Orthacoustic, FFRR-78, microgroove, AES, and numerous others. Customers struggled with diminished sound quality and highly-inconsistent results between specific albums and phonographs. Thus, RIAA decided to pre-emptively work on uniformed, industry-wide EQ standards for the uprising LP format to ensure any record will be fully compatible with all turntables. Bachman's group included representatives of all major record labels and led to the adoption of "RIAA equalization." Artist images William S. Bachman with [l=CBS] chief engineer Dr. Peter Carl Goldmark (2) and conductor [a=Bruno Walter] (3) observing the record manufacturing process; May 1948, Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Search Add 4 William P. Young William Paul Young Young is the oldest of four, born May 11, 1955, in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada, but the majority of his first decade was lived with his missionary parents in the highlands of Netherlands New Guinea (West Papua), among the Dani, a central highlands people of western New Guinea. These became his family and as the first white child and outsider who ever spoke their language, he was granted unusual access into their culture and community. When he was six he was sent to a boarding school. Young originally wrote primarily as a way to create unique gifts for his friends, until his wife repeatedly urged him to write something for their six children in order to put down in one place his perspectives on God and on the inner healing Young had experienced as an adult. The resulting manuscript, which later became The Shack, was intended only for his six kids and for a handful of close friends. Young initially printed just 15 copies of his book. Two of his close friends encouraged him to have it published, and assisted with some editing and rewriting in order to prepare the manuscript for publication. After rejection by 26 publishers, Young and his friends published the book under the name of their newly created publishing company, Windblown Media, in 2007. The company spent only C$200 in advertising; word-of-mouth referrals eventually drove the book to number one on the New York Times trade paperback fiction best-seller list in June 2008. "The Shack" was the top-selling fiction and audio book of 2008 in America through November 30. Young's second book, Cross Roads, was published on November 13, 2012 by FaithWords. Young's Eve was released on September 15, 2015 by Howard Books. Young's latest book, Lies We Believe About God, released March 7, 2017. Like The Shack, it has been the subject of theological criticism. One critic, Tim Challies, says Young is a universalist, teaching that everyone is saved.

Search Add 4 Spirit, Inc. Spirit, Inc. was an ecumenical youth group organized in 1970 by Thomas A. Downs, a religious education coordinator for the Catholic Diocese of Davenport, Iowa. Although the group was inspired by the non-profit organization Up With People, Spirit, Inc. was Downs’ own invention. At the peak of its popularity in the early 1970s, Spirit, Inc. had between 70 and 80 members with a waiting list. The current membership is reported to be in the 20s. Founder Tom Downs began several similar groups, including a young Indiana-based vocal ensemble known as The We Together Singers, who released an album on the Staff record label around the same time Spirit, Inc. released their "Alive" LP on the same label. Several other offshoot groups were organized by people who borrowed Downs’ idea. Spirit, Inc. appears to be one of the few such groups which is still active.

Search Add 4 M'am Berthiaume Irène Laplante Canadian (Quebec) country & western / folk / traditional singer-songwriter and author from the Beauce region born in 1918 and died in 1999. She composes and sings folk songs for all circumstances (golden wedding, church, dance parties, etc.) and has a collection of more than 500 songs of her compositions. Note that all his songs are engraved in his head. One day, a certain Mr. Gagné from Laval University came to find her to get her songs from yesteryear in order to keep them in the archives. Without any papers, she recorded 159 songs for him. "It was a pleasure for me," she said. Then Radio-Canada came to meet her to interview her and sing her songs. There seemed to be a lot of interest in his rich talent. Soon after, an artist from the Bonanza company came to meet her and made her understand that she would end up losing everything if she continued not to want to sing on television. Born in Ste-Marie de Beauce or St-Elzéar de Beauce.
