Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

К. Аедоницкого: "Васильки" "Песни рождаются сами" Инструментальные композиции: "For The Rest OF My Life" "Monday Night" "А снег идёт" (фантазия на тему песни А.

Search Add 4 Toyboat Toyboat Toyboat toyboat toyboat toyboat toyboat toyboat toyboat is a popular jazz–punk ensemble from Portland, OR, in the United States. The band's music is simultaneously heavy, danceable, and provocatively unusual. Reviewers have described it as “Sun Ra meets Devo,” “Miles meets Fugazi,” and “Afrobeat meets the Melvins.” Jonathan Boober's review for allmusic.com claimed “if Raymond Scott, Martin Denny and Bootsy Collins decided to form a band at Ennio Morricone’s house, it might sound something like toyboat toyboat toyboat.” Travis Henderson plays electric trumpet reminiscent of Bitches Brew-era Miles. The rare photoreactive synthesizer, The Drum Buddy, invented by New Orleans' Mr. Quintron, is symmetrically matched with drum set and electric bass. Despite befuddling journalists' efforts to categorize their aesthetic, the combo have enjoyed happy pairings onstage with national and international acts including Pere Ubu. Drummer Mehmet "Memo" Vurkaç earned his PhD in computational ethnomusicology and brings Brazilian rhythms and Turkish funk to an already eclectic melange of influences. He has performed on numerous occasions with Pink Martini and Jorge Alabê as well as one-offs with Obo Addy, Vi Hart, Michael Spiro/Mark Lamson, an early MarchFourth Marching Band, and Brazil’s Olodum, and live radio braodcasts with Mirah and Fishbone. Vurkaç appears on Mirah's 2009 album (a)spera (K Records) also featuring members of The Decemberists and The Haggard. The band have played over 90 shows across the West Coast in venues including Doug Fir, Mississippi Studios, Someday Lounge, Dante’s, Rotture, Ash St., Valentine's, Berbati's, White Eagle, and The Know in Portland, the Funhouse, Highline, and The Mix in Seattle, the Stork Club in Oakland, Hemlock in San Francisco, and a recurring showcase in the Idaho/Washington Valley. Their first EP, AMPLE FiRE, was released at various times on LEGO USB, CD, and 10-inch record. The band's second EP, COMPLICATED BODIES, was released March 2017 on CD.

Search Add 4 Counterfeit Jeans Counterfeit Jeans formed in Edmonton in 2014. Within a year they released a four-track EP garnering positive reviews across Canada and in the US, leading to a string of shows and festival dates in their first year as a band. Their music is melodic, with serpentine guitar lines married to a driving rhythm section. This all results in a massive sound that you’d be shocked to know is made by only a group of three. Named one of Edmonton’s hidden gem bands by CBC in 2015; popping up on the “Best of 2015” lists by the Edmonton Journal, Cups n’ Cakes podcast, and Harder Harmonies podcast; and receiving two 2016 Edmonton Music Award nominations for Indie Rock Recording of the Year and Artist to Watch, the young band has already become well-known in the independent music scene. Counterfeit Jeans released their debut LP in Canada through Edmonton indie label, Sometimes Music on July 1, 2016 and in the United States through Brooklyn indie label, Broken Circles on Aug. 5, 2016. The album received positive reviews in the United States, Europe and Canada. Counterfeit Jeans’ LP spent more than 17 weeks on Canadian campus charts nation-wide and placed in the national campus top 50 charts. Counterfeit Jeans was the first artist to appear on CKUA radio/Capital City Records podcast that highlights Edmonton-area music as well.

Search Add 4 János Decsényi János Decsényi was born in 1927 in Budapest. He studied piano under Magda Vásárhelyi and composition under Rezső Sugár at Conservatory and graduated from Endre Szervánszky’s composition department of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. Since 1951 he has been on the staff of Hungarian Radio’s Music Department. His works display his intense interest in other art forms and the classics. His works are, on the one hand, oriented towards the material: they test out many different instruments and several technical possibilities inherent in them – he carefully designs his compositions to fit the instruments. However, he also strives to achieve in them an emphatically beautiful sound and characteristic tonal colourings. These two principles are juxtaposed in his works: the micro-structures are arranged within the whole so that their own, independent existence does not hinder and actually promotes the appearance of major surfaces of sound. The pieces that primarily depict colours and moods, are at deeper levels constructed according to a strict principle, not a single bar of the great colour patches being left as random simultaneities of sound. (Anna Tóth, notes to Hungaroton SLPX 12122)

Search Add 4 Dodoly Dodoli Kidima Dodoli Kidima (sometimes spelled Dodoly) is a Congo DR soukous guitarist. He is best known for his high speed solos, for which he has been nicknamed la machine a coudre ("the sewing machine").He began his career in [a=Orchestre Stukas], a soukous band that reached the apex of its popularity in Zaire in the mid-1970s. In the 1980s he played the lead guitar briefly in [a=Bipoli Tshando]'s short-lived band [a=Victoria Principal] but reached the apex of his popularity in [a=Bozi Boziana]'s [a=Orchestre Anti-Choc], one of the bands the dominated the soukous scene in that decade. Dodoly was so fundamental to [a=Orchestre Anti-Choc]'s sound that, when he left, the musicians that replaced him (including major guitarists such as Rigo Star) all sought to imitate his style. Dodoly left [a=Orchestre Anti-Choc] briefly in 1987, to join [a=Djo Nolo]'s short-lived project [a=Choc Musica], but rejoined Boziana's band in 1988. That year, he was nominated "best guitarist" by the Kinshasa press. In Anti-Choc, he also contributed as a composer, writing hit songs such as Lelo Makambo – Lobi Makambo ("problems today, problems tomorrow"). He left Anti-Choc again in the mid 1990s.

Search Add 4 Tűzkerék Tűzkerék (in English: Wheel of Fire) was a Hungarian rock band. It was founded by Radics Béla on January 12, 1970. In Hungary, Tűzkerék played [a=Led Zeppelin] songs for the first time. The ensemble was made up of excellent musicians, but cultural politics of their time always considered them too suburban, and their records could not be released. They disbanded in late 1971. Around 1975, Radics revived the orchestra, playing in various line-ups, from 1977 to 1978 his companions were [a=Döme Dezső] and [a=Póka Egon], and in 1978 a TV recording was made with this line-up (3 songs were performed in [a=Déri János]'s Youth Hour). The line-up changed from 1979: [a=Soldos László], Szabó "Richie" György and [a=Kun Tamás] joined the ensemble. With this line-up, record designs were made, the material that would have been recorded was put together, there was also a cover design, but the making of the record failed. Around 1981, Radics teamed up with members of the Arena band and continued to perform with them as the Tűzkerék until his death in 1982. Founding members: Radics Béla – Guitár, vocals; Som Lajos - Bass guitar; Váradi László "Vadölő" - Drum.

Search Add 4 Mary Adam 12 Columbus, Ohio funk/soul rock band primarily active in the 1990s while still playing shows into the 2010s. Mary Adam 12 was formed in 1991 by Jeff Plavcan and Michelle Ishida. They played frequently on the Midwest college circuit from 1991-1997 before disbanding. They had 2 full length releases- Mary Adam 12 and Dingwitch. One 45 record -Freak with B side Bust A 40. In 2012 they recorded an EP with some new songs and some unreleased old songs that have yet to be mixed and mastered but will be coming out in 2019. The reunion was sparked by the death of Brian Casey their original trombone player and they formed a new group to play a tribute show for Brian at Columbus' annual Community Festival of which they were a staple main stage act in the 1990's. The original band line up and players on the Debut album were: Jeff Plavcan- bass, Michelle Ishida- keys/vox, John Messersmith- drums/vox, John Plagata-guitar, Tom Hamrick-percussion/vox, Kris Keith-sax/flute/vocals, Brian Casey-trombone/vox. On the second album Dingwitch members were: Jeff Plavcan- bass, Michelle Ishida- keys/vox, John Messersmith- drums/vox, John Plagata-guitar, John Polansky-percussion, Kris Keith-sax/flute/vocals. The reunion shows played in 2012 featured various combinations of the following musicians: Jeff Plavcan- bass, Michelle Ishida- keys/vox, Tom Hamrick-percussion/vox, Drew Layman-drums, Tim Perdue-trumpet, Fred Gablick-sax/flute, Evan Oberla-trombone, Jason Branscum-trombone, Elisa Nicolas- gtr/vox, Mike Ianacello-guitar, and Cathy Wix-vox. The origin of Mary Adam 12 came out of a backing band for a character named Disco Dave (Tim Craig) who used to DJ disco night at Crazy Mama's a legendary campus club in Columbus, OH. Disco Dave wanted to perform with a band so Jeff and Michelle put together a backing band for him called Loose Booty. Loose Booty was Jeff Plavcan- bass, Michelle Ishida- keys/vox, John Messersmith- drums/vox, John Plagata-guitar, Kristi Jendry-vocals and if I can remember correctly Paul Baker on sax and Randy Sanders on trumpet. (Paul and Randy were the original horn section for Mary Adam 12 but didn't stay in the band long enough to be on the first record.) The band had so much fun they formed their own band and played Jeff and Michelle's original songs with Disco Dave and Kristi Jendry as guest vocalists. Disco Dave (Tim) would create beautiful stage settings in well known Columbus club Staches made from 70's thrift store finds like crushed velvet curtains and chain globe lamps of different colors so you felt like you were in a 70's swingers den. Velvet, afro wigs, platform shoes, capes, 70's hats and anything shiny were also main themes in his wonderful outfits. Disco Dave and Kristi moved to San Francisco in 1993 and were no longer part of the live shows but the band maintained a loyal and growing following. Other musicians who played with the band during those years were Kim Kaler-vocals and Michael Locke-saxophone. Musicians who played with the group who are no longer living are Michael Locke, Paul Baker and Brian Casey. On that note a very important part of the lyric writing for the debut album must be credited to Peter Cassely a good friend who is also deceased. Peter "Cass" Cassely was an art school friend and wonderful photographer/poet who wrote the lyrics to Donkey Song, Lamb Of The Universe, Little Girl and co wrote Deep Green. In the years following their debut album the writing got a little more introspective and the second album Dingwitch moved toward jazz/pop with a little less funk. In 1995 Jeff and Michelle had a son Cole and found the touring to be trying with a family, the band went strong until 1997 when they agreed to disband for family and day job responsibilites. John Plagata moved from Ohio shortly afterward for an editing career in Portland, OR. John Messersmith moved to upstate New York and continues to play in various jazz groups. John Polansky played with Ekoostik Hookah and CJ Chenier among many other acts and still plays around Columbus often with New Basics Brass Band. Kris Keith plays with many different jazz groups and taught at Ohio State until moving to Cincinnati. Jeff Plavcan plays around Columbus in rock bands and Michelle Ishida plays in an acoustic duo Jason & Michelle and pop/rock band Gathering Stars. -written by michelle 3/8/19
