Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 05/01/2026

Found 619583 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 The Gothic Cowboy Melvin Litton Born in 1950, Melvin Litton grew up on a creek-bank farm and small town in Kansas. A straight arrow out of high school, he entered the Air Force Academy in ’68 aiming to be a cold warrior/astronaut. But gazing out a window late one evening in the cadet library, listening to “Sounds of Silence” as the snow fell quiet on the darkened plain, he felt an urge enter his blood stronger than any dream of flying jet or rocket. Come Christmas he left the academy and with a wager won off a high-school buddy walked into a pawn shop and bought a $25 guitar. Within a month he’d written his first song and the following summer faced with dropping 150 bucks on a sweetheart’s diamond ring or a sunburst Gibson, he choose the guitar, lost the girl, soon found one better and kept on pickin’. A few years on found him singing regularly in bars and he took the handle “The Gothic Cowboy,” drew up a poster (which partly forms this cover), and rode solo as such over next 20 years through a maze of dead-end gigs, hitting Canada, New England, Colorado, Nashville, and Austin, finally landing back in Kansas. There, in his mid-forties, he formed The Border Band with guitarist Roger Holden and drummer Dave Melody. Again, over a 20-year jaunt they played their brand of rawhide rock ‘n country blues through 100s of regional gigs, shifting through more bass players than a spider has legs while putting out 5 CDs, all gaining fair notice on roots music sites and indie radio. Trail weary by 2016, he retired the band determined to ride out his days once more solo as The Gothic Cowboy. But he soon teamed up Mando Dan Hermreck and together they put out a double-disc “Between the Wars” in 2019. Nearing his biblical span, he offers “Bare Bones,” a 4-disc set of homespun songs from his youth, subtitled “Chance, Folly, Desire & Dream” and best described in the liners from the back cover:

Search Add 2 Unit566 <Unit 566> is a Punk hardcore band that delivers a special and colorful energy, well-saturated melodies and lyrical vocals featuring direct narratives. With an uncommon visual approach, the band offers a unique blend of video and energetic punk music for unforgettable live performances.

Search Add 2 Evelyn Mladek Jenca Evelyn H. Jenca, née Mladek (6/20/1920-6/14/2004), was a singer and actress in Czech and English radio and stage productions. Born in Chicago, she met her future husband, Cyril Jenca, at a West Side dance hall, and they became engaged on the eve of World War II, marrying on 4/15/44, after he returned from serving four years as an Army medic in the Pacific. Evelyn Mladek graduated from Farragut High School and gained a measure of renown singing traditional Czech songs on the radio and in recording studios. Under the auspices of the Czechoslovak Society of America, she also performed in stage productions in the late 1930s and early 1940s. The society named her “queen” and sent her to Baltimore to christen the A.J. Cermak, a World War II liberty ship named after Chicago’s first Czech mayor. Mrs. Jenca and her husband raised four children and she worked for Western Electric in Lisle.

Search Add 2 Pancho Valdivia Taucán Pancho Valdivia Taucán is one of the names of the diaspora of Chileans who have carried out their work in Latin American fusion and roots both in Chile and in other countries. Since his beginnings in Chile he has played and recorded albums as a soloist and also with various groups in Ecuador, France, Switzerland and Argentina. His creation and research work has earned the Regional Award for Artistic Creation (CNCA, 2013) and the Contribution to the Development of Art and Indigenous Culture Award (Conadi). Born in Illapel, Chile, Valdivia began in festivals and folkloric gatherings and debuted on record in 1978 with Altiplano, his first group. He traveled and played in Ecuador, Bolivia, and Peru, and after a first visit to Europe in 1982, upon his return, he joined the Huancara group with Argentine folk roots, which began that year. With him he worked alongside Ariel Ramírez in presentations of his classic Creole Mass throughout Latin America, the US and Europe. In Argentina he also recorded with the author César Isella (album Con todos , 1984). Between 1987 and 1994 he taught Andean folklore as part of the Ethnomusicology Workshops in Geneva, Switzerland, embodied in three albums recorded between 1993 and 1995, and in that country he also recorded his album Quena (1990). In Chile, Valdivia has participated in the albums The song of the white oak (2001), by Lincoyán Berríos and Alejandro Cabrera, and Poesía (2002), by Patricia May together with Roberto Bravo and Enrique Luco, and his discography is swelled by the various groups you have joined. With Chaya he recorded Chaya (1979) and with the Héctor Pavez Group he recorded Chile lives in exile (1979), both in Paris. With Markasata he made Kallpa and Markasata (1984), both in Buenos Aires, where he also participated in Huancara's Towards the Latin American Root (1984). Together with the Franco-Swiss group Manco Capac he recorded Ritual (1990) in Switzerland, and in 1995, back in Chile, he created the cultural space Taller Taucán in Cuz-cuz, a town near his native Illapel, under which he released the album Aruntañany - We exist (2001). Since then he has collaborated with Chilean groups such as Fusion Andina and the porteños Transiente ., with whom he presented an "Andean Mass" in the Fourth Region, together with the choir of the Catholic University of Valparaíso. Part of his work and his philosophy of persistence in it can be seen in the documentary Taucán (2014), by director Sergio Olivares.

Search Add 2 David Stuart Bowers Musician from northern California, USA. Active from the 1990s on. David Stuart Bowers was raised in remote agricultural isolation in central Washington state, after moving with his heritic mother from northern California. Upon being introduced to the sounds of what would become "Indie Rock," by his sister, Jan Kerouac, he picked up a guitar and explored everything from industrial music to free jazz, all the while maintaining the lyrical twang of redneck roots. He wrote songs of love, loss and farming. Moving to Bend, Oregon, he landed opening slots for Art Garfunkel, Ramblin' Jack Elliott and Arlo Guthrie. With his band, the Colony, he toured the PNW and opened for the Devil Makes Three and Hillstomp. Life was face paced and filled with broken guitar strings and empty bottles of Tequila. In 2011, David returned to the rolling hills of vineyards in northern CA, where he lives with his family and resophonic guitar. When not exploring the mysteries of music he works as an agricultural biologist.
