Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 16/12/2025

Found 617983 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 11 Αθηνά Χαϊκάλη Athena Haikali is a Greek singer born in Hamburg, Germany. Athena liked to sing from a very young age. She joined a children's choir, played flute and engaged in dance and ballet for 7 years. She begun her career at the age of 10 when she took part in a talent competition in Germany and won the first prize. Shortly after, she released a 45-rpm record, and another record at age 13. At the age of 16, she signed a contract with the company TELDEC and created the pop group "Creative Connection" which, with the help of Marino Marinelli (manager of "Modern Talking"), immediately became known throughout Europe. At the end of the 80's the group broke up and she moved permanently to Greece pursuing a solo career. Her first recording participation is on the album "Ta 10 dekaria 2" where she participates in two songs, while the following year her first complete personal record is released by Sony Music Greece entitled "Den se fovame sex (I'm not afraid of you sex)". After an absence of five years she returns in 1996 with the album "As tous na lene (Let them say)" from which many songs became hits such as "Gine fotia", "Afto ine agapi" as well as the self-titled... In 1998 her third album is released album entitled "Ime gineka (I'm a woman)" from which also many songs became hits. After again an absence of 5 years, she returns again, releasing a maxi single with the title "Pligose me" with the song of the same name becoming a hit as well as the song "Aporo" which was also accompanied by an eccentric video clip. This is also the last CD she has released so far, since after that she retired from the music industry to devote herself to motherhood and family. In 2019, after 15 years of absence, she returned by releasing a new song entitled "Thema chronou (=A matter of time)" and making some selective appearances in clubs. Nowadays, she resides in Zakynthos (Zante) island with her family. During the years of her career, Athena collaborated with many big names of Greek music such as: Yannis Poulopoulos, Tolis Voskopoulos, Lefteris Pantazis, Antipas, Konstantina, George Gerolymatos, Katerina Stanisi, Litsa Diamantis, Vassilis Terlegkas, Thanos Kalliris , Christos Dantes, and many others.

Search Add 11 Obina Shok Obina Shok was a successful but short-lived Brazilian pop and reggae band from the capital Brasilia (Active period: 1985-1988) Three of its members were non-Brazilians, related to the local diplomatic community: Jean-Pierre Senghor, from Senegal (and grandson of late president Leopold Senghor); Roger Kedyh, from Gabon; and Winston Lackin, from Surinam - the other members were Brazilian. Their style was a mix of pop with Caribbean, African and Brazilian rhythms. The name of the band, in Myene, means "path of dance". Their first claim to fame was a demo tape of the song "Lambarene", sent to then influential Rádio Fluminense FM of Niterói, state of Rio de Janeiro - which received notable airtime. With increasing popularity, they performed at the famous concert house Circo Voador. Their first album, eponymously titled Obina Shok, was released on RCA Victor in 1986. It was very well received by critics and became a great success. Their next album, however, failed to repeat such results, and the group split up the following year. 1986 - Obina Shok 1987 - Sallé Official Line-up Jean-Pierre Senghor - vocals, keyboard Roger Kedyh - guitar, vocals Henrique Hermeto - guitar, vocals Sérgio Galvão - alto sax Maurício Lagos - bass Winston Lackin - drums Sérgio Couto - percussion Hélio Franco - percussion

At the age of 7, he began accompanying his father, who sometimes performed in shows. He spent his youth on stage, performing with the family band [a4223343]. In 1970, when he was 19 years old and still attending the Académie Ste-Marie in Beauport (Quebec, Canada), he released his first single on the [l1906258] label. The record was not as successful as expected. A second single followed, again on the same label, with slightly more success than the first. He did not make any further recordings for fifteen years. He then became a part-time singer in bars and nightclubs. The year 1987 marked a turning point in Serge Lebrun's career. He recorded an album containing twelve songs composed and popularized by his father. This album was a hit with fans of French-Canadian folk and country music. Following this success, Serge Lebrun became better known to the general public, although he never achieved the same level of success as his father.

Search Add 11 Тибетски Сърца Tibetan hearts are influential Bulgarian electronic music group, which according to some initiated the beginning of electronic music in Bulgaria. The musical group was established in 1991 in Sofia having five members, influenced by new wave style. Later on they elaborated their proper electronic dance music style that would become later known as Tech-Trance, characteristic mostly for the Bulgarian early electronic movement. A year later in 1992, brass-section joined the band and they started experimenting within the music style fusion. In 1993, two of the members - Peter Dundakov and Nikolay Madjarov, aka Faicheto decided to concentrate their creative efforts on electronic music but didn’t change the name of the formation – Tibetski Sartsa. They started working as sound engineers in the Gencho Stoev recording studio and shortly afterwards their first single was produced. It was called after the name of the formation, Tibetski Sartsa, and consisted of three compositions with total time 25 min: `The Age of Tea`, `Hearts of Tibet` and `Twist-a-Polka`. Very soon afterwards `Twist-a-polka` was filmed in a video. The release of the debut single was noticed by the specialized media and the duo was nominated for the Annual Music Awards of Rhythm magazine in four categories - Debut of the year, Single of the year, Video and Producer of the year. In the period 1994 -1998, Tibetski Sartsa were focused on their studio work, thus establishing themselves as one of the best studio teams in Bulgaria. Under the mark `Made by Tibetski Sartsa` appeared theatrical music, the soundtrack for the ballet show `Faust` and many others. 1997 was marked with the appearing of the name Tibetski Sartsa on the Bulgarian dance stage. They created a large number of songs for famous Bulgarian artists, such were the music for Marius' album Love War, remixes of Irina Florin's songs, the sound finish of Avenue's album Labyrinth, etc. In mid-1998, Tibetski Sartsa started working on their debut album `PsychoKinetic` which was released on May 29, 1999. The specialized media acclaimed the album with great positive reviews and Rhythm music magazine put Tibetski Sartsa on the cover of their June issue. `PsychoKinetik` was called the `Bulgarian techno sensation of the year`. It has been sold in more than 6000 copies so far. The participation of Tibetski Sartsa alongside with international techno stars like Josh Wink, Sven Vath, Takyu Ishino etc., in the Metropolis techno parties, brought them popularity abroad. Additional proof for their musical talent was a participation in a techno parade in Paris. It took place in autumn of 1999. As a consequence Tibetski Sartsa received international recognition. The duet faced up the new Millennium with compilation of compositions, they have made since 1991. `91:01` was a retrospective project of Tibetski Sartsa and showed the progress of the electronic music in Bulgaria during the decade, including experimental pieces such as their first single, the theatrical and ballet soundtracks. `91:01` was manufactured in only 500 copies with unique design - hand-made booklet, a real collector's provocation. The album was released for distributing only through the AveNew Productions' site.

Search Add 11 Anastasi Mavrides Anastasi Mavrides American musician, composer and pianist, born in Pennsylvania, United States. Composer and producer Anastasi (ah nah STAH zee) knew at an early age that his love of music would play an important role in his life. After years of learning to play a variety of instruments, he went on to study music and eastern philosophy in college. It was during this time that he began to experiment with music and sounds that might be conducive to relaxation and concentration. To support himself, he played in several rock and jazz bands and in 1978 he was back-up guitarist for the Beach Boys on their “Almost Summer Tour.” Later, he and Donna O’Sullivan formed a production company called Metromusic in Mill Valley, California, which went on to produce award-winning music for commercials and film. He also created The Classical Child Series, which is a whimsical reinterpretation of traditional classical melodies. He originally came up with the idea as a way to expose his newborn daughter to the world of classical music. The Nature’s Classics Series Anastasi recorded for Real Music is a collection of popular classical pieces creatively combined with sounds of nature. They include Country Morning, Country Evening, and The Pachelbel Canon with Ocean Sounds. The latter, having sold over 300,000 copies, proved to be one of Real Music’s hottest selling titles. On The Pachelbel Canon with Ocean Sounds, Anastasi took the timeless charm of this world class piece and developed an arrangement which expands on its already meditative and inspirational qualities. The simple, yet compelling “Canon in D” melody is coupled with gentle ocean waves which unfold throughout this instrumental poetry, conjuring up vivid imagery of a distant shore. On CinemOcean, Anastasi has taken ten of the most beautiful movie themes (from composers as diverse as Vangelis, John Barry, Ennio Morricone and Ryuichi Sakamoto) and masterfully arranged them into a poignant musical tapestry. Enhanced by the rhythmic caress of ocean waves, this album creates an ideal environment for quiet thought, reflection, meditation and encouraging the magic of one's own imagination. As Anastasi says of this work, “It's evident that music can have a powerful influence on the human spirit, so what I've tried to achieve with The Pachelbel Canon and CinemOcean is a soothing pocket of relaxation and beauty that can uplift anyone who listens and inspire them to their highest potential.”

Upon completing 12 years in 1933, he was living with his family in the railway village in Alto da Serra (current Paranapiacaba). To the amusement of the locals had the Club Lira Serrana where Irene had his first contact with fado - and was in love with this musical rhythm! When he was 15 years asked for the consent of the mother and stepfather to study singing and Portuguese guitar with Professor Alfredo Bastos, a renowned guitarist established in the city of Santos, São Paulo coast. Bastos ran a program in the Atlantic Radio entitled "Saudades de Portugal", broadcast weekly on Thursdays. It was here that Irene premiered at Radio. It was advertised as Irene Raymondo and always heard the following comment: "Raymondo is no last name for a singer." But soon arrumaria a new last name ... Around 1939 Irene began to study singing with Professor Joaquim Gallas, in São Paulo. He met Manoel dos Santos Coelho, a Portuguese "good looking", marketer and also a student of Gallas. The fact is that the two fell in love and eventually married in July 1940. After nine months of marriage, Coelho presented his wife with a radio program. They christened it with the name of "Portuguese Melodies". Premiered on Sunday, 13.4.1941 by the waves of Radio Cosmos. Irene always referred to the program as her "first child". At a time when women were repressed - most husbands did not like to see their wives become artists - the case of Irene was the opposite: Manuel was the biggest supporter of his wife, he contributed as can for her to become a "star" . Search Add 11 Nyofu Tyson Nyofu Tyson Originally a jazz bassist, Nyofu Tyson has been playing Turkish Saz since the 70's. His music is a blend of Turkish, Jazz, Latin, Flamenco and more. He is also a composer and translator/interpreter of Turkish Folk Poets. Born in Los Angeles of Danish-Lebanese-African-American heritage, Nyofu Tyson grew up in a musical home. His Dad was an amateur jazz pianist and avid listener of many styles of music. Nyofu began music as a bassist, playing Jazz and Latin with local groups. He studied Composition, Classical Bass, and North Indian Classical Music at California Institute of the Arts for 2 years. His interest in ethnic music led him to Turkey, where he began playing the long necked lute, Saz. He then lived for many years in Sweden, where he worked with [a=Zülfü Livaneli], [a=Okay Temiz] and [a=Hadji Tekbilek] , all major names in Turkish music. He toured all over Sweden and Europe with these artists, while having his own band and making radio concert and TV appearances in Sweden and Turkey. Since returning to LA in 1994, he has collaborated with Omar Faruk Tekbilek, oudist John Bilezikian and Cuatro Caminos Flamenco among others. In 2004, Nyofu released two CD’s on the 3 Worlds Music label: “Timeless Songs”, a collection of Turkish folk poets from 13th century to present; and “La Guitarra Turca”, original work blending Mideast, Latin and Jazz in an instrumental/vocal mix. He has been a member and featured artist in the Stefani Valadez Ensemble since 2006 and started Turkish/Flamenco fusion group “iST/West” together with Flamenco guitarist Bobby Solakov in 2007. From July 2011 thru Dec 2013 he performed with these groups at Disney California Adventure, introducing the public there to Turkish Poets and popular songs, odd rhythms and Flamenco alaturca. Nyofu travels regularly to Turkey, where he has gained recognition for his interpretations of Turkish folk poets and his eclectic style of Saz playing. In 2010 Nyofu began work on a new collection of Turkish Poet interpretations, featuring his original compositions. Recorded in Izmir, Istanbul and Los Angeles, "Minstrels&Mystics" is to be released in Turkey Spring 2017 by Avrupa Music. Also to be released is 5 song “iST/West” EP “Ciudad de Mi Alma”, featuring the single “Yeni Anladım”.

Born in 1955 and hailing from Barotseland and the Lozi people, Mukanwa, like fellow Zambia performer [a1819862], had a series of regular careers before entering music. He worked for a time as a prison warden and then later as a mine guard. He started his music career in the early 1970's with a song he recorded at the Zambian Broadcasting Service in Kitwe. The song received some radio play and kicked off a career that would continue for 50 years. His first documented single, [r13500795], appeared on the Zambazi label in 1980, but his career was well established by that point. Based in Kitwe he did much of his later recording at [a2474721]'s [l1700464], similar to fellow Kitwe resident [a7768430]. Throughout the 80's Mukanwa would produce numerous popular singles, displaying his intricate guitar work and his Rumba sensibilities. In 1985, he released his only album, [r3193793]. After the failure of [l447513] in the early 90's, Mukanwa's career faltered and he returned to working for a mining company in the Copperbelt and later Tanzania Zamiba Railways. He married and had several children, including some who followed his footsteps into music. He was still based in Kitwe up until his death from illness on March 23rd, 2025.

Search Add 11 Target Shoppers Stoke-On-Trent noise rock trio. The music covers many genres and is really quite difficult to pigeonhole. Songs were often extremely short, one is a second long. The only instruments are guitar, bass and drums, with the three members swapping instruments on each track. A big feature is the use of absurd and grotesque lyrics, all written by Marky Loo Loo, mostly when he was a teenager. Aside from many tape cassettes and their split 7" with Melt-Banana, their only full length vinyl album was bankrolled and distributed by West Yorkshire experimental music and alcohol fanzine Just Glittering (the precursor to Idwal Fisher). After being on hold since 2001, the band came back together in 2011 and started work on a new album.
