Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 15 The Sons Of The Purple Sage The Sons Of The Purple Sage was a Southern California western/cowboy act which had several line-ups with a convoluted murky history. The earliest version of the group came about when Buck Page, who had used the name "Riders Of The Purple Sage" for his own band a decade earlier while playing on the East Coast let Foy Willing use that name for his band (which he did till he passed away in 1978). Page gravitated towards Los Angeles to work in the TV and film industries, and renamed his group "The Sons Of The Purple Sage". It seems like the Sons band worked exclusively for budget-labels who used the band's name to record a number of albums, either because they won it through a business contract and played on the same, or because no one was able to enforce the ownership of the name. There were about a half-dozen albums on labels such as Golden Tone, Tops and Somerset, all released under the Sons Of The Purple Sage, with musicians such as Tex Fletcher and Bob Wheeler, as well cowgirl singer Linna Shane.. Bob Wheeler (leader), Lina Shane, Jean Valli, George Faith, Tony Clayton (Back cover info on S-119 'At Western Campfires ')

Trompa ("french horn" in Brazilian Portuguese) is a Brazilian instrumental free-improvisational punk band that plays a particular kind of emotional, mathy, post-hardcore. Although it has never been officially revealed (its members always refer to themselves in the plural, as "french horn players") it is known that its core members are guitar player [a4183667], drummer [a8219531] and bass player [a9550747], with a rotating cast of other collaborators, most frequently drummer [a4273234], but also drummer and trumpet player [a7959347], bass player [a4273235] and bass player [a6833730]. They are known for their radical left-wing politics [the last song on their release [r19230439] (which have song titles that refer to bank bombings and robberies) is called "A Humanidade Não Será Feliz Enquanto O Último Capitalista Não For Enforcado Nas Tripas Do Último Burocrata" which stands for "Humanity Won't Be Happy Until The Last Capitalist Is Hanged In The Guts Of The Last Bureaucrat" in english, they frequently played in squats, occupations, in events raising funds for radical left-wing causes, they're record "[r23610104]" was recorded live in an occupied school during the biggest educational strike in Brazil's history, and, overall, they have always considered themselves a punk band more than anything]; for their complete autonomy in the production of their output (which always had the phrase "pelo fim da terceirização de nós mesmos" – which stands for "for the end of the outsourcing of ourselves" in english – after the credits for each album); and also for the poetic texts for the promotion of shows and album liner notes as well as the literary and revolutionary references in they're song titles. To date, Trompa has 14 releases, all of them improvised and recorded live. Before turning into a free-improvisational band, as a quartet (guitar player [a4183667], drummer [a8219531], bass player [a9550747], joined by guitar player and clarinetist Gustavo Herscovitz from [a6142674]) they recorded a demo with three composed songs that never got to be finished or released.

Search Add 15 Crippling Self Doubt Scott Dryman This is the soundtrack to the never ending failure that is your shitty life. Part self-help for the helpless, part narcissistic sermons in “self-betterment”. This is a reflection of a poisoned sick society, and the music for its funeral. Crippling Self Doubt’s “The End Of My Rope” and “Beyond The End Of My Rope” is Scott Dryman’s expressive, personal journey through failed relationships, self-loathing, and his never ending failure, train wreck of a life. During the creation of both of these bodies of work, Scott suffered daily with feelings of rejection, personal loss, soul crushing depression, and felt inadequate in every way. Raw, honest, and emotionally draining the listener will be dragged to the bottom, and forced to see a reality few would be willing accept. After this….you can never go back. You will not be the person you were before. You will see…Crippling Self Doubt is inside of you…and it is inside of me….

At the age of 13 he had saved enough money to buy a guitar and some books on music. He taught himself to read music and play the guitar. Tedd performed many jobs from driving railroad spikes to dishwashing in order to further his career in music. After studying theory in harmony and music for two years at the American Theater Wing in New York, he started to compose folk songs about the South.

(MAXIMUM ROCK N' ROLL) .... I do believe it's more of a spontaneous generation than an empty trend--new wave smacked on the jagged boulders of garage rock, exploding in a bounty of once-buried treasure.Science experiments gone wrong, psychosis being wrestled with, and dirty electronics used as percussion instruments and then caressed back into a melody. The best of all,the songs are thickly spined and muscled into form by solid songwriting instead of mere shtick. In turn this reminds me of Gary Numan,Joy Division.Good stuff.(RAZORCAKE)....

Early singles ‘Commonplace’ and ‘I Really Do Love Penelope’ remain popular to this day and have appeared on several well-regarded compilations of 80’s Independent Music. In 1989 they recorded a session for John Peel's BBC Radio show before the band came to an end in 1991. A collection of singles, radio sessions and rarities entitled ‘Long Ball Into Nowhere’ was released in 2005 by Firestation Records. In 1993 Colm joined another Dublin band The Sewing Room who released two albums and an EP for the independent record label Dead Elvis. ‘And Nico’ was issued in 1995 with ‘Drugfree EP’ following in 1996 before second album ‘Sympathy For The Dishevelled’ appeared in 1997. The Sewing Room also recorded a John Peel Session for the BBC in 1996. The band finally came to an end in 1999. The 2000’s saw Colm working with Budapest/Dublin based musical collective Villa R, releasing two albums on independent label Disques Fridge. ‘Songs From The Apex’ was released in 2006 and ‘Blown Cadence’ followed in 2015. In 2018, having fulfilled a long-held ambition of building a recording studio in his Dublin home, Colm embarked on a new musical project entitled Lexicon of Sound which combines his love of ambient music with his ability to create innovative and inspiring sounds.

Search Add 14 Wurgilnõ Consanguineus Introducing Wurgilnō: Unleashing Dark Tales from the Dutch Underground Wurgilnō is a solitary force that emerged in the early months of 2023, plunging deep into the realms of Black Metal. With a raw and intense sound, Wurgilnō stands apart, channeling the dark currents of the genre while infusing it with the mystique of Dutch folklore. At the core of Wurgilnō lies the enigmatic figure known as Consanguineus. Serving as the sole member, Consanguineus fearlessly undertakes the roles of instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter, pouring heart and soul into crafting each haunting melody and crafting lyrics that delve into the depths of local legends and myths. Drawing inspiration from the First and Second wave of Black Metal, Wurgilnō's sonic offerings encapsulate the spirit of the genre's early pioneers, echoing their raw energy and sinister atmosphere. Consanguineus pays homage to these influences while forging a distinctive sound that is uniquely their own, blending aggression, melody, and a touch of melancholy. In a short span of time, Wurgilnō has unleashed a series of chilling singles upon the world. With releases like "Kraaien of het galgenveld," "Tot eenzaamheid verbannen," and "De Bloedrode Beek," all unleashed upon the world in May and June 2023, the band has already garnered attention within the dark corners of the Black Metal community. These singles serve as harbingers of the imminent release of their debut album, "De Doden rusten niet in Vrede," which arrived in June 2023, seeping into the collective consciousness with its unrelenting intensity. While Wurgilnō currently abstains from live performances, its origins carry a legacy intertwined with the Dutch metal scene. Consanguineus, an original member of Dutch bands Belphegor, Inverted Pentagram, and Corpusculum during the early '90s, possesses a profound understanding of the genre's roots and a wealth of experience that enriches Wurgilnō's creative process. Wurgilnō's music serves as a vessel, carrying the listener through the ancient forests and misty landscapes of the South of the Netherlands, where local myths and legends reside. Each track on "De Doden rusten niet in Vrede" explores these narratives, summoning the spirits of the Bokkerijders and other enigmatic figures that haunt the region's folklore. Through his music, Wurgilnō seeks to capture the essence of these tales, painting sonic portraits that immerse the audience in a chilling and immersive auditory experience. With their solitary presence and uncompromising dedication to the craft, Wurgilnō stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of Black Metal and its ability to encapsulate the darkest corners of the human psyche. As their music reverberates through the shadows, Wurgilnō beckons the curious and the fearless to venture forth into the ethereal realms they have carved, where the ancient legends of the South of the Netherlands come alive once more.
