Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024
Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 15 | The Woodfalls Band | Vale Road, Woodfalls, Salisbury. Wiltshire. SP5 2LT Nationally, brass band enthusiasts have heard of The Woodfalls Band, but most are intrigued to know where they are situated. Woodfalls is a small village 9 miles South of Salisbury and just one mile from the beautiful New Forest. There are under 1000 people living in the village, but the enthusiasm for music is traditionally very high and musical talent is in abundance. The original idea to form a band at Woodfalls was by Charles and George Mitchell in 1874 at the foundation ceremony of the new Methodist Chapel. Soon, with John Green and other young men from the village they met to form the band, in fact most were from three families, the Greens, Warners and Mitchells. In the early days the members met as often as they could in the house of William Green and in the summer at the request of Mr. Mark Warner in the local chapel. George and Charles Mitchell gave the first music instruction. At first they could only master hymns and eventually attached themselves to the local “Band of Hope” organization, playing hymns at their meetings and for local school treats. The earliest recorded event was in 1882, when Captain Foster, of the Salvation Army was improperly imprisoned and on his release was marched through Salisbury to a tremendous reception by the Woodfalls Temperance Band.

Search | Add | 15 | The Nied's Hotel Band | The Nied’s Hotel Band is a powerhouse recording and performing rock-n-roll band from Pittsburgh, PA. NHB delivers the hardworking, blue collar, muscle that has made Pittsburgh a legendary rock-n-roll city. The band includes some of the best-known and respected players in the region, including singer John Vento (who is, perhaps, the hardest-working front man around), guitarists Tim Hadley and Jim McCullough, plus keyboardist Fred Delu and sax man Ed Jonnet, who last joined forces in the 70’s as members of Pittsburgh’s most beloved rock/soul band – The Rhythm Kings. Newest members Frank DeCarolis (bass) and Bob Fetherlin (drums) complete a stellar Lineup. The band had its origins in 2003 when singer John Vento began a studio recording project that he titled “Nied’s Hotel” as a tribute to Jim Nied, proprietor of the landmark Pittsburgh tavern of the same name, which also was the source of inspiration for many of the songs. Vento, along with noted musician/producer Buddy Hall, began the process of bringing these new songs to life, coaxing amazing performances from an all-star roster of Pittsburgh musicians – Reb Beach, Kenny Blake, Pete Hewlett, B.E. Taylor, Norman Nardini, Tom Bellin, Joe Munroe, Scott Anderson and Jim Britton. But no one had more impact than John’s primary session drummer, Ron Beitle. As the original drummer for Wild Cherry (“Play That Funky Music”), Ron brought his considerable drumming talents and gold record experience to the “Nied’s Hotel” project, released on CD in 2004.The next release, 2007′s “The Way That You Roll,” was again recorded with session players, but Vento, along with drummer Beitle, decided it was time to start performing this material at live shows. The new release was credited to “John Vento and The Nied’s Hotel Band,” but the live band line-up changed frequently while John and Ron searched for the right chemistry between players. Along the way, some fine musicians became NHB alums, but none more important than singer/songwriter/guitarist Stephen Christopher, who left his mark by penning the songs “600 Under” and “Need A Lover,” which are still mainstays of the NHB live show. Then, in early 2009, Beitle recruited his life-long friend, Russ Oblinger (bass) to join the band. Russ had just returned to Pittsburgh after a long and successful career as one of Detroit’s best session players. With these two guys in place, NHB now had a tight and accomplished rhythm section. The band began to fine-tune their sound and develop more original material. Within a year or so, Tim Hadley, Fred Delu, Ed Jonnet, and Jim McCullough had all joined the band. With a consistent lineup and a killer new sound, the band went to work writing and arranging new original songs and creating a live show that reflected the band’s powerful personality. By May of 2011, NHB was ready to make a real rock-n-roll album. No more session players, just a well-rehearsed band entering the studio to play and record as one. Basic tracks were recorded live at Vento’s Corbriwood Studios in West Deer, PA, followed by post-production and mixing at Buddy Hall’s Beacon Hill Studio. The results were released in 2012 as an EP called “Side One”. Although pleased with the results, the band, having grown leaps and bounds as a performing, arranging and writing unit since their inception, wanted to try something a little different. The band enlisted Klint Macro, who had just moved back to the area after a successful career in the Los Angeles studio scene, to be their new engineer/producer. The band recorded all of their new material at Klint’s Cobblesound Recording Co., as well as re-arranging and re-mixing the “Side One” material. The finished full-length CD, “One Night Stand”, was released in July of 2014. Unfortunately, upon its completion, drummer Ron Beitle and bassist Russ Oblinger decided to leave the band for personal reasons, with Bob Fetherlin and Frank DeCarolis, both accomplished players in their own right, stepping in to fill the void. Like any great rock-n-roll band, NHB prides itself on delivering high-energy, entertaining, live shows. The band has made a major investment in its live production sound and lights, and is blessed to have one of the finest and most professional crews around.

This band is a product of self-expression by experienced musicians who grew up on a fertile ground of traditional weddings of the 90s, town celebrations, world music festivals around the world. Their music expresses freedom and euphoria of post-soviet spirit and ancient enigma of Russian Soul. Openhearted shows, multilingual lyrics of "Opa!" and their willingness to give it all to the audience make this wild positive folk remarkable and understandable for everybody.

Search | Add | 14 | Mr. B. Krishnappa | Bidaram Krishnappa | Bidaram Krishnappa (1866–1931) was a musician and composer of Carnatic Indian music in the court of King Chamaraja Wodeyar IX (1862–1894) and King Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV (1884–1940) of the Kingdom of Mysore. Bidaram Krishnappa was a Konkani-speaking Gowda Saraswath Brahmin and a native of Nandalike in modern Udupi district, Karnataka. When he was a boy he had a chance encounter with a rich businessman who loved music. This happened when hungry Krishnappa, who came from a poor family, was singing a devotional song (devaranama) in a local temple. Impressed with his voice, the merchant sponsored Krishnappa to train under the guidance of a musician called Ramaswamy. He later came under the influence of Tammayya and Veena Sheshanna. Bidaram Krishnappa is credited with having popularised the singing of Kannada devaranama on stage. He adapted certain concepts of Hindustani music into his Carnatic compositions. For his scholarship in music, he earned the titles "Shudda Swaracharya", "Pallavi Krishnappa" and "Gana Visharada". One of his disciples, T. Chowdiah, went on to become a music legend. Krishnappa was most famous for writing and rendering devaranama and kirtans. |

Search | Add | 14 | Wasscass | Alexander Starnell | Wasscass (*1977) - also known as al cutter in the early days - is a DJ,producer and head of the label “Klangklar records” from Stuttgart, Germany. His motto until today: underground. Records from Tommi Stumpff, Nitzer Ebb, Front Line Assembly and cubic22 from Berlin introduced him into the world of electronic music. The era of EBM and Techno was born. While the Frontpage magazine promoted East Berlin’s Tekknozid parties, the acid house sound from clubs like Ufo, Walfisch or Tresor could not compete with Frankfurt’s trance sound from DJ Dag and Co that Wasscass saw so much more potential in. He bought his first turntables and mixer in 1992, kicking off his DJ career in August 1993 with his very own gig as al cutter in club Cindy in Tübingen. Wasscass started the evening with a massive 15 minute intro followed by a 6-hour gabba and hardcore set. Meeting Sven Väth in the early 90s in Stuttgart’s No. 1 techno club Oz opened the door for a gig at 1994’s Futuresonic party, where Wasscass performeda highly successful set with 4 decks simultaneously. Another milestone was about to follow in 1999, when the famous DJ and producer opened his first own club that was about to rule the nightlife in Southern Germany for the following years. After closing, Wasscass retired from DJing until 2007, coming back even bigger with numerous gigs around the world in Europe and the US. He showed his versatility at the 2008 trance convention in Brasil, marking another peak in his career when playing the kaZantip festival. Wasscass started producing own tracks in 1996, reflecting his passion for underground far from the standard stuff. While playing finest sounds in clubs and radio, he was however never determined to a certain genre.By now Wasscass is the mastermind behind several projects of all kinds of styles - melting synthi sounds with electro beats and all bearing his special signature: underground |

Member of the WSB Barn Dance and WWVA Original Jamboree. "The King of the Hillbillies" Considering the quality of Pete Cassell’s music, he could have been among the top names in country music had not certain circumstances conspired against him. As it was, he was an extremely popular radio artist, with an impressive reputation at WSB Atlanta and WWVA Wheeling from the late 1930s to the late 40s. Blind since infancy, he died at the early age of 37, leaving a small but powerful group of recordings that he made for Decca, Mercury, and the Majestic labels. His vocal style—which influenced several other country artists including Eddy Arnold—could be described as achingly soulful, but that doesn’t do full justice to a man who definitely had a way with a poignant song.

Search | Add | 14 | Mark Corrin | Mark Corrin | The solo project of Mark Corrin, Liverpool born, Manchester based writer, producer & radio broadcaster. Formerly know as Shirokuma, and as a member of Octobuse and Poppycock. Currently presents a weekly radio show for Salford City Radio 94.4FM. Also plays bass for Rose & The Diamond Hand. Has also previously collaborated with the likes of Can's Damo Suzuki, The Fall / Blue Orchid's Una Baines, Max Tundra and Andy Votel and assists with the running of Manchester's Valentine Records. The songs presented here are generally downtempo, melodic and experimental with surrealist lyrics, catchy melodies and short song lengths. The playful and varied musical backings are woven from electronic and organic sound sources and are influenced by psychedelia, world music, cinema and folk. For a bit of history…Mark Corrin's early demo CDRs as Shirokuma made him a regular favourite on John Peel’s BBC Radio 1 Show for the final five years of its broadcast (1999 – 2004). Rob Da Bank and FloMotion’s Nick Luscombe continue to be radio supporters, whilst Shirokuma was made single of the week by both Steve Lamacq and Phil Jupitus during their time at BBC 6 Music. A debut album “Secret Moves At The Midnight Chess Club” was released via Manchester label Faith & Hope records in 2005, which yielded a joint NME single of the week, “Moonlight In The Afternoon”. The track, which the paper curiously confessed “makes us want to have sex in dressing-up clothes”, was also remixed by Max Tundra (Domino Records) and Andy Votel (Twisted Nerve \ B-Music \ Finders Keepers). An EP on Twisted Nerve records came next, before Shirokuma began working with the Manchester electronic & future rock label Valentine Records. Mark Corrin is also very active on the Manchester underground live music scene. |
Search | Add | 14 | Melted Cassettes | David Turner, Mike Warden | Melted Cassettes began in 2005 as a one man electronic-avante-garde/noise project started by D. Turner. It continued as such, gaining some popularity in the underground, until 2007 when M. Warden joined the project. This happened when Turner and Warden decided to make a collaboration album called ‘Now That’s What I Call Music Vol. 1′ and gave birth to the songs ‘Fantasy Garden’ and ‘Test’. The two soon began to simply work under the name ‘Melted Cassettes’ and made it official. Warden and Turner worked feverishly for several months, creating nearly 3 full albums worth of song material. By early 2008, Melted Cassettes began performing in Arizona on a fairly regular basis and continued to gain notoriety. The project went through a number of changes, including a revolving door of members, and changes in instrumentation. There were also a slew of rumors surrounding Melted Cassettes which permeated aspects of underground music fanfare. These rumors included false backgrounds, identities, and outlandish accusations of being ‘Notoriously misanthropic’, all of which was usually explained by the duo’s nature as being quiet, and somewhat isolated, and dedicated artists, often avoiding all the hullabaloo of local music-scene politics and instead focusing on a meaningful relationship between audience and artist. By 2009, Melted Cassettes had toured California several times, had a tape released on Modern Sleeze Records, and a design made for them by Canadian Art Designers ‘Seripop’. The band continued onward until a series of profound, and somewhat transcendental occurrences manifested in their lives around early 2010, which was followed by an inevitable hiatus. A few months later, Turner and Warden regrouped from their experiences, projecting the influences these encounters provided into the music of Melted Cassettes. The live performance aspect of Melted Cassettes centers around the odd events that took place in their lives, and is an attempt to inspire, creatively, and convey a message or aspect of some of the strange, paranormal, transformative and unexplained events that society sometimes overlooks. Melted Cassettes continues in its current lineup with a mission of music for positive personal/social transformation and collective conscious compassion and integration. Artist involved are [a=David Turner (8)] and [a=Mike Warden]. |

Search | Add | 14 | Plunderphonic | John Oswald | In Toronto (Ontario), John Oswald is director of research at "Mystery Laboratory" co-ordinating the creation of recordings for the “plunderphonics” project. Oswald declared during an interwiew in 1994: "The definition I'd set up for plunderphonic was music that was recognisable in some way, and the transformation of that music. I think the most successful examples use music that is the most recognisable. It's more delightful to me to have these pop figures, and by pop I also include Beethoven, as the working materials. There are things that work as plunderphonics for me, I've got a tape based on Edgard Varese's Poeme Electronique, and had the same sort of experience of having changed round something that's very familiar to me, and there are examples on plunderphonic of stuff like that: Anton Webern, and Ligeti, and Cecil Taylor, and Captain Beefheart. But the ones that were most interesting to me were things like Bing Crosby, where you'd play it for somebody who had no great knowledge of all sorts of other things that were happening in the twentieth century outside of the pop mainstream, they'd have some sort of reaction based on that thing that's recognisable within it. The thing that's very nice in a way is that I think there is a bridge between things that are often ghettoised as being extreme twentieth-century avant garde techniques and pop music. The two things can coexist." In [r=243232], Oswald defined "plunderphone" as "a recognizable sonic quote, using the actual sound of something familiar which has already been recorded. Whistling a bar of 'Density 21.5' is a traditional music quote. Taking Madonna singing 'Like A Virgin' and re-recording it backwards or slower is plunderphonics, as long as you can reasonably recognize the source. But the plundering has to be blatant. There's a lot of samplepocketing, parroting, plagiarism and tune thievery going on these days which is not what we're doing." He added: "The distinctive feature of Mystery Tapes is their anonymity. We don't tell the listeners who or what's on them. With Plunderphonics we tell all." |

Search | Add | 14 | Niels Hutchinson | Niels Hutchison | Niels Hutchison is an Australian artist. Hutchison shared a house with [a327752]' guitarist [a778977] in the 1970s and designed on commission the cover of their album [m=192655]. His name is incorrectly spelt in the [m=192655] album credits ("Niels Hutchinson"). In addition, copyright to the artwork was claimed by [l=Mushroom Records] in the liner notes: in fact, it is retained by the artist. The album was re-released in 1984 as a 10-year anniversary edition. The new [r5967829] used the same artwork, except its background of brown cardboard was overprinted in gold. [l=Mushroom] removed its claim to copyright in the artwork, but this time both the artist's names were misspelt, as "Neils Hutchinson". Niels has also made a musical arrangement for Gearshift Shuffle, Track 1 on Side A of [r4761802]. He shares credit with [a=Buzz Leeson] and [a=Mick Conway]; his name is once again misspelt as 'Hutchinson'. Niels Hutchison currently runs a web site on Colour Music, and has spoken on the topic at seminars and major art exhibitions. |

Search | Add | 14 | Johnny Puleo | Johnny Puleo (October 7, 1907 - May 3, 1983) was an American musician and actor, who specialized in playing the harmonica. Born a dwarf in Washington, DC (he stood 4 feet 6 inches or 1.37 meters as an adult), he worked as a newspaper seller until being discovered at a contest in Boston held by bandleader [a=Borrah Minevitch], of [a=The Harmonica Rascals]. Soon he joined a comedy variety act, during which time he learned the art of pantomime that has contributed so much to his success. He then joined [a=The Harmonica Rascals], with whom he toured the world. In 1941 Johnny tried to leave the [a=The Harmonica Rascals] and start his own group. The entire new group moved in with Johnny's parents, living and rehearsing in the basement. It did not last long, though, because [a=Borrah Minevitch] found them and got them working for him again. After Minevitch's death in 1955, Puleo formed his own band, [a=Johnny Puleo And His Harmonica Gang]. He recorded various albums with the Gang and solo on the Audio Fidelity label, as well as acting in several films, most notably Trapeze (film). The Harmonica Gang appeared at top supper clubs throughout USA, including the famous "Latin Quarter" (nightclub) in New York and Miami Beach; The “Riviera” in Las Vegas; “Palmer House” in Chicago; “The Roosevelt” in New Orleans and “Twin Coaches” in Pittsburgh and venues like the Moulin Rouge and London Palladium overseas. Johnny also appeared in Milwaukee Wisconsin where he met local band leader Conrad Johns and upon meeting Puleo, Conrad's 5-year-old son Steven said "Hey, I'm as tall as you." Johnny just smiled and said, "And that's as tall as you're ever going to get if you keep crackin' jokes like this." Puleo and his five-member band released a series of high-energy light-pop LPs on the [l=Audio Fidelity] label. His first album was the first LP to released in a single-tone-arm stereo format in 1958. More (at least seven) [l=Audio Fidelity] albums followed well into the 1960s. One of his (and their) best performances is "Sabre Dance." He died of a heart attack at Holy Cross Hospital in his native Washington D.C. in 1983.

Search | Add | 14 | Mateusz Morawski | Mateusz Morawski is a Polish musician, composer, producer, guitarist and graphical designer. His music is a mixture of electronic, metal, progressive and breakbeat. He is also designer of all music related artwork, promo materials and videos. * Early career (1996 – 2009) Influenced by PC/Amiga demoscene he started to record first sample-based compositions on his Amstrad 286 PC computer on 4-channel music tracker software. After a few years of experience with multichannel trackers, around 2002 he started to play the electric guitar and made his initial demo guitar recordings on PC multitrack audio software. For the next 7 years he learned music production techniques and developed musical production approach and equipment. * Music releases (2010 – present) Mateusz started to release first tracks independently in 2010 on myspace, later on last.fm and soundcloud under Creative Commons license. Among several published compositions in electronic and metal genres, he considers “Type1a” from 2011 as his first single. It was a classical chillout tune inspired by Tschaikovsky and Mussorgsky symphonies, but produced with electronic instruments. In 2012 he released 2 tracks. “Pursuit Milestone One” explored more breakbeat areas as inspired by The Prodigy and Noisia, while “Doggerland” turned into progressive metal with electronic flavor by including influences from Tool prog metal band. On July 2013 “Doggerland” track was featured as a soundtrack to youtube video “5 Of The Most Gruesome Medieval Torture Devices” on BuzzFeed channel with half million views. In March 2014 Mateusz released a new progressive electronic track titled “Dogger Plant”. According to reviews it sounded like a combination of electronic and film music with similarities to Juno Reactor music for The Matrix Reloaded movie. December 2014 brought a release of a “Hards” hardcore techno single and video. It was a first finished song composed in early tracker times in 1996. It was re-mastered and released eventually after 18 years. His latest single “Higgs Boson Army” is a further development of style introduced on "Dogger Plant". Besides of psychedelic and symphonic structures it also consists of influences from Chemical Brothers and Vangelis works.

Search | Add | 14 | Andels | Lukáš Puška | Ostrava born Lukáš Puška makes electronic music since his teenage years. Through an electronic music nerds community he managed to work out his skills and own style – at that time heavily influenced by drum and bass – which eventually contributed to his appearance at the Electronic Beats festival in 2008 in Prague. Next years brought further exploring of the electronic music scene and experiments with his own sound. No wonder that you can find Andels’ tracks inspired by dupstep, minimal techno as well as IDM. Later on he finally found his favourite flavours in funk, disco, jazz, house or techno which he can craftily melt together to create a perfect amalgam of hypnagogic dance music. In last years his fanbase was steadily growing thanks to regular feeding of his soundcloud profile and occasional performances, notably the one at the Colours Of Ostrava. Since 2014 he is a fellow of Brno based Kosmospiel DJs platform and the Bastl Instruments community. |
