Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 30/03/2026

Found 621899 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 15 Spin the Outside Spin the Outside is a genre fluid music making entity formed by singer/songwriter/multi-Instrumentalist Mr. Fussy in NYC in 2011. "New York’s Spin The Outside certainly veer towards the prolific, yet the controls are firmly set on quality not quantity. Combine this with the quiet magic of discovering a new band, then realising there is a catalogue to discover, to swim in like a sonic lake made by Willy Wonka, then Spin the Outside may become one of your favourite new bands." - Jay Wilkinson - Chartburst

Search Add 15 Pierfrancesco Grossi Pierfrancesco Grossi is an Italian DJ Producer born on June 10, 1989. He is eldest son of the Italian DJ Mr. Robert, he grew up frequenting many clubs, watching his father put the disks on the console. He immediately became passionate about disco music and independently learned to mix at home using with a pair of Technics 1210 MK2 and his father’s numerous vinyl records, with the intention of creating a personal mixing technique and without too many influences. At the age of 12 he puts records for the first time in front of an audience: it was the end of year party of the middle school he attended. From there, he begins a long journey as a DJ alongside his father in the family club. A few years later he approached music production and, with the help of his father, he designs a small home studio where he starts studying sound, experimenting with synths up to the production of some dance remixes, however never released. In 2009 he came into contact with Paolo Aliberti, who managed Supersonik Records, the label with which he released his rst single entitled Cricket Night, followed by other musical projects. Between 2012 and 2018 he mainly devoted himself to DJing, putting records on private parties but also in various places in Rome and its province. In 2019 he founded his own label, Technopathy, but in parallel he decided to send demos around, getting in touch with numerous artists and record producers. In 2020 “Insomnia” comes out and thus becomes part of the Beenoise Records team.

Search Add 15 The Smoky Mountain Travelers The Smoky Mountain Travelers were a five-piece bluegrass band based in Gatlinburg, Tenn., where they played at the Riverside Motor Lodge from 1976 to 1998. Led by Jack Grooms (vocals and guitar, 1930–1998), the band released a number of studio and live albums. Longtime members included Fred McMahan (vocals and bass, 1933–2013), Carl Stump (vocals and mandolin, 1935–2021), and Randy Watson (banjo and guitar, b. 1963). Although the Smoky Mountain Travelers’ roots date back to 1948, the band’s discography can be traced back to 1971’s Blue Grass Grows in the Smokies, which featured the lineup of Grooms, McMahan, Stump, Bill Chambers (banjo, 1935–1990), and Coy Finger (fiddle, 1925–2012). In 1975, fiddler Byron Doss replaced Finger, and the quintet would go on to release Live On Stage in Gatlinburg the following year. In 1976, the four backing members split from Grooms and formed the New Bluegrass Season. Grooms reassembled the Smoky Mountain Travelers with Mynabelle Keller, banjo; Mike Grove, fiddle; Malcolm Link, bass; and Enos Johnson, mandolin. The group appeared on the album The New Bluegrass Sound before Barry McCarter and Tom Caldwell took the places of Keller and Johnson respectively. It was this reshuffled Smoky Mountain Travelers lineup that saw the band’s biggest album success. The group released Smoky Mountain Smoke, Travelin’ Home, and Dreaming of a Little Cabin over the next three years, from which fourteen tracks were culled for the compilation album The Best of the Smoky Mountain Travelers, the band’s bestseller. Link, a former radio jingles singer for the copywriters who opened Thunderhead Sound Studios in Knoxville (where the Travelers recorded in the late 1970s), supplied commanding lead vocals that gave the band a new sound on such tracks as “Foggy Mountain Top” and “Fox On The Run.” Lineup changes abounded over the next decade. Rob Curtis followed Link on bass. Caldwell, who had sung the title track on Dreaming of a Little Cabin, left in 1980 and Stump returned to play the mandolin. Watson replaced McCarter on the banjo beginning in 1982. When Grove left to perform in nearby Pigeon Forge, fiddling prodigy Dorothy Ferris joined the band out of high school. This lineup recorded a handful of albums in the early 1980s, including You Are My Sunshine, Vacation in the Smokies, and Smoky Mt. Memories. By the release of Live in ’85, McMahan had returned to the band following stints with the New Bluegrass Season and the Gatlinburg Grass. He reoccupied his position on bass and Curtis moved to mandolin. The group released the cassette album Wildwood Flower before Bill Lynch replaced Curtis on 1992’s Smoky Mountain Pickin’. Amanda Mathis would join Jimmy Sims for twin fiddle work on a later Smoky Mountain Travelers cassette. The band’s last five-piece lineup included Grooms, McMahan, Watson, Earl Ownby on mandolin, and Sims and a returning Grove sharing fiddling duties. Pictured L–R: Randy Watson, Dorothy Ferris, Carl Stump, Jack Grooms, Rob Curtis.

Made well over hundred gramophone recordings, both on their own as well as with refrain vocalists, including [a5543137]'s recording debut in 1934. The original lineup included, in addition to Henschien himself, Trygve Olai Johannessen (1894-1939) on violin, and Gunnar Søberg (1903-1954) on piano. Often filling in for Johannessen in the beginning was Eilert Fuglesang (1915-2009), although he quit after a couple years to focus on his studies. Violinist Karl Andreas Kristiansen (1892-1974) was used as a replacement during a tour in the mid-1930s. When Johannessen passed away, violinist Jacob Scharff (1908-1942) took his place as a member of the trio. Scharff was jewish, and during the nazi occupation of Norway he and most of his family were deported to Auschwitz. Upon arrival, the children and female members of the family were taken directly to the gas chambers. The adult male members died some time during December 1942-January 1943. Scharff's arrest and deportation also marked the end of the trio. The trio's regular vocalist and compere was [a1596189] (1900-1955). Often a guest performer with the trio was Henschien's protege, the accordion prodigy [a926478] (1919-1966), aka "Lille Erik".

Search Add 15 Bartosz Lasecki Bartosz Lasecki Bartosz Lasecki is a Polish-American composer and producer based in New York, renowned for blending the depth of classical traditions with modern electronics and intimate human performances. A classically trained guitarist, he honed his craft under Tali Roth at the Juilliard School and later refined his compositional voice with David Tcimpidis and David T. Little at Mannes The New School for Music. Guided early on by media composer, producer, and pianist Gordon Minette, Bartosz gained invaluable experience in studio workflows and composing for film and television. In 2024, he scored the film Americano, directed by Deny Gallagher, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). At the heart of his creative process is All About That Studio, his personal workspace in New York, where Bartosz experiments with modular synthesis, vintage analog equipment, and innovative recording techniques. By combining timeless instrumentation with forward-thinking production and sound design, he crafts immersive soundscapes that bridge classical concert halls and modern production studios. Over the years, he has collaborated with artists from Poland, South Korea, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Blending classical traditions with modern electronics and intimate human performances, Bartosz’s sonic world reflects a broad palette of influences—Béla Bartók, Krzysztof Penderecki, Hans Zimmer, Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds, Jon Hopkins, and Radiohead, weaving together an intimate yet expansive musical terrain that pushes the boundaries of contemporary composition. Currently, Bartosz is preparing for the release of his debut album, <an>android/among.the<clouds>, scheduled for 2025. The album narrates the evolving story of “an android”, revealing the intricate interplay between humanity and technology with each composition. By bridging alternative, electronic, ambient, and orchestral textures, Bartosz sparks reflection on what it truly means to be human in an increasingly connected world.

Search Add 15 Михаил Эпельбаум Эпельбаум Михаил Иосифович 1894-1957 Jewish singer and actor. He studied at home teachers, then in a private gymnasium and at the Warsaw Musical Institute. From 1911 he took part in the ethnographic expedition in the towns of Podolia and Volhynia, where he recorded samples of Jewish folk music. He performed a lot in the composition of Jewish theatrical (mainly musical-dramatic) collectives: in 1910 and 1912, in the troupe I.Korik (1876-1947) and A.Vainstein, in 1911 - in the company of S.Genfer (1874-1913), in 1913 and 1915-16. - in the collective of L. Rappel, in 1914-15. - A.Fishzon, in 1916-17. - N. Lipovsky (1874-1928). After the October Revolution, he performed for some time at the Russian Theater of Musical Comedy and Drama under the direction of IP Brandesko (Moscow), and worked with the outstanding Jewish artist Clara Jung on several occasions. The singer's strong voice (dramatic baritone) allowed him to perform opera arias. At the invitation of the Kiev Opera House, he repeatedly and with unchanging success fulfilled the role of Demon in the opera of the same name by Anton Rubinstein. Epelbaum played in dramatic plays, especially the role of De Silva in "Uriel Acosta" by K. Gutskov. However, the greatest glory of the singer was the fulfillment of Jewish songs on the stage. Epelbaum's repertoire was unusually wide and included songs and ballads recorded by Epelbaum during ethnographic expeditions. In 1927-33 years. Epelbaum toured with a concert program in Europe, America, Africa; the performing skill of the "Jewish Chaliapin" was widely recognized in various circles. On his return from the tour, Epelbaum settled in Leningrad (see St. Petersburg), worked at the Theater of Musical Comedy, in the regional philharmonic society, in Lengosestrad, toured the cities of the Soviet Union; his work was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR. In the years 1941-45. Epelbaum lived in evacuation in Siberia, worked in the Novosibirsk Concert Association; After the war he returned to Leningrad, performed with concerts of Jewish songs in various cities of the Soviet Union. In 1949, during the defeat of Jewish culture, he was arrested and sentenced to ten years in prison. His wife Rosalia Apelbaum was also convicted. Rehabilitated in 1954, returned to Leningrad. Although the honorary title of the artist was returned, the Ministry of Culture of the RSFSR did not allow the Lenkontsert to accept Epelbaum for permanent work, allowing only speeches on a contractual basis. The repertoire of the Jewish song, with which the singer performed, was subjected to severe censorship; often he was not allowed to speak only with the "Jewish" program, prescribing in the first section of the concert to perform Russian songs. However, in the conditions of Khrushchev's "thaw", Epelbaum triumphantly traveled with Jewish songs to many cities of Ukraine, Belarus, the Baltic States.

Search Add 14 Wurgilnõ Consanguineus Introducing Wurgilnō: Unleashing Dark Tales from the Dutch Underground Wurgilnō is a solitary force that emerged in the early months of 2023, plunging deep into the realms of Black Metal. With a raw and intense sound, Wurgilnō stands apart, channeling the dark currents of the genre while infusing it with the mystique of Dutch folklore. At the core of Wurgilnō lies the enigmatic figure known as Consanguineus. Serving as the sole member, Consanguineus fearlessly undertakes the roles of instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter, pouring heart and soul into crafting each haunting melody and crafting lyrics that delve into the depths of local legends and myths. Drawing inspiration from the First and Second wave of Black Metal, Wurgilnō's sonic offerings encapsulate the spirit of the genre's early pioneers, echoing their raw energy and sinister atmosphere. Consanguineus pays homage to these influences while forging a distinctive sound that is uniquely their own, blending aggression, melody, and a touch of melancholy. In a short span of time, Wurgilnō has unleashed a series of chilling singles upon the world. With releases like "Kraaien of het galgenveld," "Tot eenzaamheid verbannen," and "De Bloedrode Beek," all unleashed upon the world in May and June 2023, the band has already garnered attention within the dark corners of the Black Metal community. These singles serve as harbingers of the imminent release of their debut album, "De Doden rusten niet in Vrede," which arrived in June 2023, seeping into the collective consciousness with its unrelenting intensity. While Wurgilnō currently abstains from live performances, its origins carry a legacy intertwined with the Dutch metal scene. Consanguineus, an original member of Dutch bands Belphegor, Inverted Pentagram, and Corpusculum during the early '90s, possesses a profound understanding of the genre's roots and a wealth of experience that enriches Wurgilnō's creative process. Wurgilnō's music serves as a vessel, carrying the listener through the ancient forests and misty landscapes of the South of the Netherlands, where local myths and legends reside. Each track on "De Doden rusten niet in Vrede" explores these narratives, summoning the spirits of the Bokkerijders and other enigmatic figures that haunt the region's folklore. Through his music, Wurgilnō seeks to capture the essence of these tales, painting sonic portraits that immerse the audience in a chilling and immersive auditory experience. With their solitary presence and uncompromising dedication to the craft, Wurgilnō stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of Black Metal and its ability to encapsulate the darkest corners of the human psyche. As their music reverberates through the shadows, Wurgilnō beckons the curious and the fearless to venture forth into the ethereal realms they have carved, where the ancient legends of the South of the Netherlands come alive once more.

A subtle musician, a multi-talented personality, she will forever remain in history as the founder of a unique professional Russian song group. Elena Kalugina devoted 40 of her 60 years to the development of the musical culture of the region. Here her rare musical talent and organizational skills were revealed. Elena Kalugina graduated with honors from the Omsk Music College in vocal class and three courses at the Correspondence Institute of Musician Teachers at the Moscow Conservatory. She trained as a choir conductor, but the war prevented her from completing her studies. In Omsk, she worked as a singer on the radio, as an accompanist in a choreographic group, led vocal clubs, and was the organizer of several choral groups. She devoted all her teaching talent to the professional training of vocalists and choirmasters, working at the Omsk Music School. Elena Kalugina trained a galaxy of gifted musicians. Almost all honored artists of Russia - singers of the Omsk Folk Choir - are students of Elena Vladimirovna. But the main work of Elena Kalugina’s life, with which she glorified herself and the Omsk region, was the creation of the State Omsk Russian Folk Choir. Having never been involved in folklore before 1950, Elena Vladimirovna managed to make a lot of recordings of Siberian folk songs within a few months and began processing them for the choir. During her trips around her native land, she collected many original songs and dance tunes. Kalugina’s invaluable merit was that in forming the repertoire of the Omsk choir, she did not follow the path of imitation of already known groups, but took as a basis truly Siberian folk art, preserving the original style of song and dance. The name of Kalugina is associated with the emergence of the very concept of “Siberian folk song”. Some researchers denied the presence of an original choral singing culture in Siberia. Through enormous research and collecting activities, Elena Vladimirovna was able to refute such speculation. She was also the first to use a truly innovative technique - a choral performance of a Russian song without a conductor, and this manner was picked up not only in the country, but throughout the world. Over the 10 years of Elena Kalugina’s work in the Omsk choir, the collective has taken a special place among other Russian folk choirs, worthily representing the creativity of our region around the world. Just three years after the creation of the team, its first victory happened - at the World Festival in Bucharest. The Omsk choir won 1st prize and a gold medal, beating 32 competitors from around the world. This victory became the most striking milestone in Elena Kalugina’s creative activity; it opened the international touring life of the choir.

In the same year, Jason entered two important internet based DJ competitions held on the New York Tranceaddict.com forum and the Europe based Global Underground Forum where he took 1st place in both. Amidst acquiring exposure on the DJ front, Jason started his record label Acute Recordings. Launched in May of 2002, Acute releases have graced the charts and playlists of many of the world's top talent including #1 charted releases on the prestigious balance record pool, a #1 best selling track on beatport.com, and with releases creating buzz in several magazines and media sources. Marco started out as a DJ in 1999, and got in amateur music production around the same time, mainly using MOD-tracker programs like Fasttracker II and Sk@le Tracker at first. Making the switch to more professional music production in 2008, using his 'Mykynes' alias. Currently, Marco operates from the city of Zwolle, Overijssel, the Netherlands, and releases his music productions through his own imprint Premier League Recordings. Marco became one of the early adopters of the Choon-platform in 2018, a cryptocurrency based music platform that envisioned to pay artists a more fair share of revenue. With his releases being fairly popular there, it gave his career a new boost to produce more tracks and remixes. Unfortunately, Choon went out of business in October 2019. Building on the connections from Choon, and the trance scene in general, however, Marco already established his own recordlabel Premier League Recordings in September 2019. Nowadays, Marco releases his track through his own label, and on all common major music platforms again. The Marco Svarda sound can be described as classic influenced trance with an old-school feel, and a modern production technique. Marco Svarda is the founder of the [l=Mykynes Music] imprint, on which he releases his independent music and [l=Premier League Recordings], on which he signs releases of himself and others.

Through an electronic music nerds community he managed to work out his skills and own style – at that time heavily influenced by drum and bass – which eventually contributed to his appearance at the Electronic Beats festival in 2008 in Prague. Next years brought further exploring of the electronic music scene and experiments with his own sound. No wonder that you can find Andels’ tracks inspired by dupstep, minimal techno as well as IDM. Later on he finally found his favourite flavours in funk, disco, jazz, house or techno which he can craftily melt together to create a perfect amalgam of hypnagogic dance music. In last years his fanbase was steadily growing thanks to regular feeding of his soundcloud profile and occasional performances, notably the one at the Colours Of Ostrava. Since 2014 he is a fellow of Brno based Kosmospiel DJs platform and the Bastl Instruments community.

Search Add 14 American Standard Band Formed in Worcester, Massachusetts, The American Standard Band was a five man group that gained significant notice in the 1970s and early ’80s on both the local and national level. Kevin Falvey: Lead singer, songwriter, keyboardist, and co-founder. Cliff Goodwin: Lead guitarist and co-founder. Deric Dyer: Saxes, keyboards, and second lead vocalist. Howard Hersh: Bass player John Riley: Drums ASB toured extensively around New England for several years, focused on what could best be described as hip pop music. Strong on vocal harmonies, high-level musicianship and a fair share of showmanship, they carved out a successful place as a live act. They had an active following and continued to mature as a band over time. In the late mid-1970s, they connected with [l983753] and formed a relationship that led to new opportunities, including producing a number of demo recordings of their material, and obtaining an audition for ASB to become the backing band for [a124497]’s comeback effort starting in 1976. Joe liked what he heard and they were hired to become his band for the next year and a half, touring in Australia and South America, as well as playing gigs in the US. In the meantime, [l8377] had heard good things about the band and signed ASB to an independent production agreement through [l983753]. The band recorded two albums with Island, the first received very good reviews, but failed to be promoted well due to issues by Island’s marketing distribution rights through the Warner Bros. music conglomerate. With a massive recession at the start of the 1980s that damaged the music industry as a whole, the band’s second album has never been released and the option on the band’s contract was not picked up by Island. Falvey continued songwriting and producing music until his early passing in 1999. Goodwin continued to play for Cocker for most of the 1980’s and found success as a sideman for a number of notable music acts. Hersh and Dyer also continued with Cocker and each found similar success as side- and session men with a variety of known artists.

Search Add 14 Silver Laughter Silver Laughter was born in the fall of 1969 in Davenport, Ia. The band would eventually play over 1,700 gigs over ten years throughout every corner of Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, as well as western Canada. The nine musicians that eventually played in Silver Laughter had all been teenage friends. The band would also record two albums of original material from which six singles were spawned. The band was originated by Jon Ludtke (guitar/lead singer) and Steve Elliott (bass/lead singer). John Carstensen (lead guitar) and Jon’s brother Kim (Slim) Ludtke (drums) were incorporated within months to complete the original band. With the strong lead singing of Jon and Steve, Silver Laughter had an instant following in the Quad Cities, as the band played covers of some of the 60’s most illustrious rock bands, including the Beatles, the Kinks, the Rolling Stones, Cream, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. Some of the early gigs included the Hullabaloo in Moline, Ill - a left-over vintage teen club of the 1960’s complete with go-go cages, and the famous Col Ballroom in Davenport. From its inception Silver Laughter focused on vocals and harmony, matched with the power of a driving rhythm section and lead guitar. During these early years, the band wrote and performed a few originals which became favorites of their fans.
