Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Eric O. Lebigot Eric O. Lebigot Eric O. Lebigot (or Eol) was born in 1974 in Paris. He began learning piano quite by accident at age 9, when his brother's piano teacher asked him to try playing a few notes. Thus began a life-long love affair with the instrument. After spending a few years in Chicago and Washington, DC, he returned to his native city, where he now lives with his American wife and his young son. Although he works as a physicist, composing for the piano is an irreplaceable part of his life.

Search Add 2 J.J. Lancaster Sjon Ueckert Real Name Sjon Ueckert From his personal website discussing recording his sole single: I lived on the island of Manhattan for about two years from 1967 to 1969. I played with the "Pleasant Street Blues Band" and recorded my first record for Date Records (they also had "Peaches and Herb"), a part of Columbia records. My producer was Chuck Sagel, who used to produce Frank Sinatra. My band opened the Electric Circus (Andy Warhol's) club on St. Mark's Place in the Village. We left there to play at Trudy Heller's Uptown Cabaret and Nico and the Velvet Underground took our place at Warhol's club. I lived in the Albert Hotel, where most of the working musicians in Manhattan lived (they had basement rehearsal rooms). New York, at that time, was a great place to be. I returned a number of years later and found the place very uptight and angry. I need to go back and see if that has changed again.

Search Add 2 The Music Buddies Erik: bass guitar TJ: guitar, vocals Derek: drums Taken from their release page: "Nobody can remember the exact origin but we think the band name came from a relative of Erik’s, who said it as a quaint diminutive as he left for practice with a previous band—“Oh, are you off to practice with your music buddies?” The three of us (Erik, TJ, and I) were living in a group house in Kalamazoo, between bands and dutifully enrolled at the local college, when he shared that anecdote. Guffaws were had. When we learned that TJ had a notebook full of lyrics devoted to how various scenesters had done him right and/or very wrong, it seemed a bygone conclusion: we had a name, we had a unified purpose, we had instruments and a basement and post-adolescent malaise and thus, we had a band. The Music Buddies was born. We were around from late fall of 1996 into the spring of 1997. We practiced a handful of times, usually late evening affairs that felt a lot like I’d imagine my dad’s Thursday night bowling league felt. We maybe played two shows—one a vegan potluck, the other at the legendary Comet Cafe. Somehow we were the subject of an intense, one-sided label bidding war that cooled only because we wouldn’t cede to Charles’ demands that we change our name to “Bacne.” We also recorded a demo with Ian, which he kindly helped us to mix in preparation for the either digital or lathe cut version you might be listening to right now."

His work delves into sound and harmony perception, connecting the combination of avant-garde compositional systems and their alternative use. His technique focuses on a detailed analysis of the composition’s fundamental elements, deeply exploring both the microscopic structure of sound – thanks to complex sound synthesis and manipulation machines – and that of harmony and counterpoint, drawing on 20th-century avant-garde compositional such as dodecaphony and the microtonal system.

Search Add 2 Diplomatz Damir Avdić Damir Avdić alias Diplomatz is a hardcore poet and performer who talks about Bosnia today, at the twilight of a modern world controlled by fake religion, commercialized revolution, and false democracy serving as a cover for capitalist brutality. He sings in Bosnian: "Whoever wants to understand, will understand!" Razor-sharp lyrics, shot from the heart and hitting you right in the head. The truth hurts, and Diplomatz tells it without compromise, and without mercy. With the eyes of a psycho and hard, powerful, threatening guitar riffs, he delivers a message without any illusions. Damir Avdić (from Tuzla in Bosnia and Herzegovina) was known in the 1990's as frontman of the hard-hitting punk rock band Rupa u zidu (Hole in the Wall), with whom he released four albums. They kept on playing and putting out records even during the war in Bosnia. In 2004 he made his first solo album ...od trnja i žaoka (...by thorns and stings), a kind of soundtrack for his novel Na Krvi Ćuprija (Bridge over Blood), which talks about Bosnia during and right after the war. The CD and novel were both issued by the legendary underground pioneer Zdenko Franjić. Thanks to Damir Avdić’s intense performances, word quickly spread about this unusual (anti)singer-songwriter. Diplomatz alias Damir Avdić is everything in one: singer, poet, guitarist, band, actor, writer, thinker. Everything he does, he does from the heart. He comes from the tough underground scene of Tuzla, where he has collaborated with bands like rock'n'rollers No Rules, dub/reggae outfit Defence, and hip-hop rhyme fighter Frenkie. He is currently part of the Moonlee Records stable. His second album Mrtvi su mrtvi! (The Dead Are Dead!), recorded for Moonlee Records, will be coming out in March 2008. The new album is more direct than its predecessor and just as raw as his live performances, hitting as hard as ever. "You can't break the system from outside, by explosion. You have to do it from within, by implosion – and that can bring you down, too," says hardcore Diplomatz, ending his challenge with a question: "Are you ready?"

Search Add 2 Bad Boys Of '79 Alex Puddu is the man behind the project “Bad Boys of 79”. Alex takes inspiration from: Late-night encounters on back streets as seen in dystopic movies such as The Warriors, Escape from New York, The new Barbarians, Tenebrae, Nightmare in the City... just to mention a few. The sound of Bad Boys of 79 is based on beats with the sonority of early 80s’ synths and delay-effects, all played and recorded with a minimalistic accuracy. Alex Puddu composed, recorded, and produced the album himself and describes the sound of the project in a few words: “Easy beat, evil bite “… The album features several guests performances by artists such as Lasse Storm (the voice of Sha la las), Morten Dalhoff (bass player of Skywriter) Justin Schøning (Beat Me Up Baby, 3eme Sexe) and last, but certainly not least, Peter Peter (former member of Sort Sol and Bleeder) who co-wrote the electro-post-apocalyptic track "We are the Bad Boys" and contributes with a killer guitar riff reminiscent of the early days with his punk/rock band “Sort Sol”.

Search Add 2 W. H. (Bill) Lamey Bill Lamey (1914 – 1991), fiddler, was born at River Denys, Cape Breton but spent some of his early years in Sydney and Sydney Mines before moving permanently to the Boston area, USA. His fiddle playing began at the age of 18 and was strongly influenced by other fiddlers such as “Big” Ranald MacLellan and Gordon MacQuarrie. He credits his mother and her Gaelic songs and jigging with the Gaelic influence found in his playing. Unable to take lessons himself due to the cost, he learned much through lessons his cousin was taking at the time. He quickly escalated into public performances and routinely played all the local dances, especially in and around the Sydney area. In 1953, Bill relocated to Boston with his family. He became a charter member of the Cape Breton Island Gaelic Foundation and was president of it for 15 years. He also ran a radio program over WVOM and held dances in the Boston area and helped many Cape Breton artists make their way south to perform in the US. His music is preserved on a number of recordings including “Classical Recordings of Scottish Fiddling” and “Full Circle - From Cape Breton to Boston and Back” which is a collection of home recordings made of Bill from 1956-1977. On such recordings, you can hear his distinctive snappy bowing technique and rhythmic strathspeys and reels and haunting slow airs.
