Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

The "Svetilen", Ensemble of Folklore Spiritual Music. Title in Russian: Ансамбль древнерусской духовной музыки "Светилен" or Ансамбль "Светилен". Over the years, the group has been referred to in various publications under slightly different names. The ensemble of ancient Russian music Svetilen was formed in 1989 to preserve the old Russian vocal tradition. This style is reflected in two types of singing: church singing and secular singing. Both are marked by the meaning of the sacred word. This testifies to their common “starting point” and the same cultural and musical background. Musical compositions are usually performed a capella, but sometimes ancient Russian instruments such as gusli and koliosnaya lira are used giving a peculiar sound. The group has participated in numerous festival in Russia and abroad and has won several internal awards. Partial list of the team: - Дмитрий Гаркави = Dmitry Garkavi - founder and artistic Director of the ensemble, composer, multi-instrumentalist - Анастасия Овчинникова = Anastasia Ovchinnikova - vocals, percussion - Павел Любимый = Pavel Lyubimiy - vocals, guitar - Илья Саблин = Ilya Sablin - vocals, accordion - Валерия Кемаева = Valeria Kemaeva - vocals, percussion - Петр Козачук = Petr Kozachuk - vocals, double-bass

Search Add 2 Karl-Josef Kutsch Karl-Josef Kutsch, also known as K. J. Kutsch, is co-author with Leo Riemens of the Großes Sängerlexikon, a standard reference for opera singers. Born 11 May 1924 in Gangelt (Germany), Kutsch studied medicine, was drafted and participated as a soldier in the Russia campaign of the Second World War. He then completed his studies at the Goethe University Frankfurt in 1948. He practised as a physician from 1952 to 1989 in his hometown, together with his wife. From the 1950s, Kutsch built a collection of records and singers' biographies. Together with the Dutch musicologist Leo Riemens, he published a small biographical dictionary of singers in 1962 under the title Unvergängliche Stimmen (Immortal Voices). In 1975 the work was revised as Unvergängliche Stimmen / Sängerlexikon, which was again revised in 1985 with his and Riemens' cooperation and became the standard work. Under the title Großes Sängerlexikon (Great Singers' Lexicon), it was substantially expanded with the collaboration of Hansjörg Rost and in the current edition comprises seven volumes with detailed biographies of 18,760 singers from the Renaissance to the present day. The biographies mention the subject's name, a possible stage name, the dates and place of birth and death as well as the voice category and give an overview of the career – according to places of activity and works that were sung and played. In addition, the biographies contain brief mentions of important milestones, a description of the voice, as well as bibliographical references and major recordings made if any. The fourth edition of the Biographical Dictionary of Singers, in seven volumes, was reissued in 2012 as an anniversary edition (Jubiläumsausgabe), with now 18,760 entries. It is regarded as the standard reference in the field. The information is regarded as valubale not only for opera but also for general historic and sociological studies.

Search Add 2 Elekid Jerry Greco III Since the age of 14, in Chicago (1997), Elekid has turned DJing into a science, mastering the art, and becoming a household name, placing him among some of the top DJs in the harder styles of electronic music in North America. Not limiting himself to just one or two styles, Elekid's wide variety and unique approach to mixing is what makes his sets memorable and loved by many. His methods of engineering sets and being able to execute with extraordinary accuracy is what has made him a sought after DJ. Elekid's breakout from the Midwest happened in 2002, and he hasn't looked back since. Playing from coast to coast, in almost every major city, and on many radio shows and podcasts, Elekid has left crowds demanding more. In 2004, Elekid started his "Summer Vacation" series, showcasing all that he's capable of, with each one being unique, themed, and entertaining from start to finish. Every year brings a new and different Summer Vacation. One year might be Frenchcore, another Happy Hardcore, or Jumpstyle, another Breaks. These mixes are a part of a vast collection of mix compilations Elekid has released since 1997, which can all be downloaded from his Soundcloud. In 2005, Elekid took it to the next level and began producing, starting with Hard House. In the years since, Elekid has had several releases and remixes, most notably, "Tekno Drugs", on several different labels. More recently, he has been a heavy backer for Frenchcore in America, and has been pushing the Frenchcore sound. If it's hard, it's Elekid.

Search Add 2 Dark Skies Have Fallen Dark Skies Have Fallen is a five-piece metalcore band from Naples, Florida, formed in the winter of 2003. A unique combination of metal and hardcore, influenced by black metal, death metal, and hardcore. Chock-full of dark riffing, melodic harmonies, pounding drums, and sickening vocals. Formed originally as Lafe Flynn, Adam Whited, and Brodie Wheeler. Starting practice with just two guitars and vocals, they began to write music. Later, Nick (Evil Existence) joined as a temporary drummer along with Joe (Evil Existence) on bass. They helped play the first show. Drums were eventually replaced by Adam’s brother, Chris. Without bass for awhile, Pedro (ex-With Vengeance) took the position. He played for a few months but didn’t work out. Adam switched to bass (although still writing some guitar parts). Having then acquired another guitar player, Wayne Lai, this new lineup works well. Playing a number of shows in Naples, Ft. Myers, and Miami, Dark Skies is looking forward to expanding horizons, meeting new bands and new people. In October 2004, the band changed its name to [a8102470].

Lancaster Sjon Ueckert Real Name Sjon Ueckert From his personal website discussing recording his sole single: I lived on the island of Manhattan for about two years from 1967 to 1969. I played with the "Pleasant Street Blues Band" and recorded my first record for Date Records (they also had "Peaches and Herb"), a part of Columbia records. My producer was Chuck Sagel, who used to produce Frank Sinatra. My band opened the Electric Circus (Andy Warhol's) club on St. Mark's Place in the Village. We left there to play at Trudy Heller's Uptown Cabaret and Nico and the Velvet Underground took our place at Warhol's club. I lived in the Albert Hotel, where most of the working musicians in Manhattan lived (they had basement rehearsal rooms). New York, at that time, was a great place to be. I returned a number of years later and found the place very uptight and angry. I need to go back and see if that has changed again.

Search Add 2 Thirstborne Thirstborne, a dynamic Christian band made up of recent Hesston (Kan.) College alumni, shares its message through music and has performed at numerous churches, camps, youth events, concert halls, conventions and schools in 12 states. Thirstborne's mission is "to show their love for Christ through the pursuit of musical excellence and in building relationships." The band includes vocalist and guitarist Jason Fishburn, drummer Shawn Taylor and bassist Jeremy Kempf. The group started in October 1999. After graduating from Hesston College, the group members relocated to Greenville (Ill.) College to study and continue making music together. The group's Web site says, "The name Thirstborne describes the state that we are all born into -- a state that drives us to find the one thing, the only thing, which will bring the most satisfaction to our lives. We have 'borne' a 'thirst' for our Creator, His son Jesus and the Holy Spirit. To that end we, as worshipers of Him and those who are gifted by Him musically, have come together to give Him praise and to share that joy with others in the music of this generation."
