Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 9 Rosalie James Singer, songwriter, miserabilist. Rosalie was born in Cornwall, in the far South West of the UK. She had a musical upbringing; her childhood memories are of climbing trees and reading books with an eclectic soundtrack on a bright yellow Sony Walkman including The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, The Monkees, Steely Dan, The Bangles, Pink Floyd, Elton John, Kate Bush and David Bowie. Rosalie’s father, always a working roadie and musician, toured the US with The Grateful Dead and other bands during the 1970s, creating the belief that life as a musician was always only a small step away. She started learning the piano at 5 and the guitar at 14 and sang to anyone who would listen. Rosalie started out creating song and dance routines to Madonna and Michael Jackson, then grew out of that and spent hours moodily playing guitar along with The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nirvana, U2, The Lemonheads and REM. Rosalie’s teenage years were spent obsessing over Suede, Blur, Elastica, Sleeper, Pulp, The Divine Comedy and The Longpigs, although she never realised her dream of fronting an indie band or of marrying Evan Dando. She continues to love both the earnest and emotional synthpop and the edgier new wave of the 1980s (Roxy Music, Cocteau Twins, Sparks). In the early 2000s Rosalie began writing and recording in ambient/down-tempo electronica duo Delaware with guitarist and producer Benjamin Morgan, influenced by Zero 7 and Air. Although Delaware played very few gigs, one song ‘I Can Get Out’ was used in US series The Black Donnellys, sparking a life-long ambition to get a song on Grey’s Anatomy. Rosalie has since performed in various bands, building her confidence as a songwriter, pianist and backing singer. She formed pop-folk band All the Fires in 2008 and performed as lead singer in Cornwall and around the UK to a steadily growing and loyal fan base. All the Fires released their debut album ‘Territories’ in 2012 to popular acclaim but the band ended in early 2013 – a subject Rosalie will talk about at length if required to but would much rather leave to your imagination. Rosalie’s work is an unusual mixture of melancholy and mischievousness. Her voice and songs can be heart-breaking, but coupled with a wry, sardonic humour and a propensity for candid on-stage and lyrical revelations about her own mental health (which she self-describes as “a fun combination of autistic traits and EUPD”), religion, heartbreak, television and substance abuse it makes for an interesting show. Rosalie makes no apology for including her own versions of popular hits by Kate Bush, Radiohead, Billy Bragg, The Cure, The Eagles, Nine Inch Nails and many others in her set. These sit comfortably alongside Rosalie’s own compositions, in which the influence of the classic songwriting of the 70s, the 80s’ emotional depth and 90s’ hooky indie melodies can be clearly felt. Rosalie says that she has repeatedly tried to give up music but that it just won’t seem to go away. She is now recording her debut album, which predicts a move towards the atmospheric LA indie/dreampop sound (think Phoebe Bridgers, Cigarettes After Sex, Sharon Van Etten, Lucy Dacus). Her joy in writing and performing both her own and others’ songs is evident and what is guaranteed is that in every performance and every recording, Rosalie gives you a little piece of her accidentally massive heart.

Search Add 9 Kim Köster Kim Köster grew up in the picturesque artists’ village of Worpswede. In 1994 he begins to become active in the graffiti scene and to fashion the public space with his pieces under the pseudonym MIKone. With the decision to move to Berlin he broke away from the limited letter-based graffiti style and turned his focus on new media and fine arts. Today Kim Köster (born 1981) embarks on a random journey through reality and imagination. His works (mural painting, photography and installations spanning multiple rooms) are inspired by individual perception and atmospheric intuition. On this intuitive journey “souvenirs” emerge that appear apocalyptic through the complexity of the used media and nonetheless, even though without conceptual intent, vitalize existing structures. In this way in 2003/2004 the interdisciplinary art project 99rooms in collaboration with Richard Schumann, Stephan Schulz and Johannes Bünemann comes into existence. It has lured about 2 million visitors from around the globe in the rooms of abandoned industrial buildings and turns each individual into a participant of one of his intuitive journeys. His recent works "POSITIVE-NEGATIVE" display contrasted experiences of a surreal excursion into the constant play of light and shade. The interaction of painting and negative-developed slides provides impressive confusion in an inspiring exaggerated world of colors. Instrumentation runs a spectrum from flutes, saxophones, bass clarinet and recorders to the yidaki (Australian aboriginal didjeridu), shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute), and kangling or Tibetan thighbone trumpet. Harmonium, bowed psaltery, percussion, and digital/analog electronic elements further enrich the palette.\\ \\ Ferrara Brain Pan's checkered musical career includes early collaborations with noise music pioneer Boyd Rice aka NON (1970s), the mercifully short-lived goth-damage fiasco Bad Alchemy (80s), ambient dub project 23 Degrees (early 90s), and a fortuitous uncredited appearance on 1994's Rien by Krautrock legends Faust (produced by Jim O'Rourke). In 1998, Ferrara Brain Pan was co-founder of dark ambient duo Darmstadt Pharmacy, and more recently has again joined forces with Ure Thrall (and local SF Bay Area DJ/musician Mr Hate) in a new project called Death Of The West.\\ \\ https://web.archive.org/web/20080703213412/http://formsofthingsunknown.com/index2.html

He started listening to House music, Freestyle, Techno, Funk, Reggae, and other styles of Electronic genre. In 2005 Frank started as a hobby to create his own music. He took on the name "2Touch". Search Add 9 María Alejandra Matos María Alejandra Matos Perhaps the hottest young, female merengue artist today is Maria Alejandra, from Puerto Rico. Interested in singing from a very young age, Alejandra started studying music and voice when she was 15 years old, inspired by merengue greats Juan Luis Guerra and Olga Tañón. Within a year she was recording advertising jingles for television, and singing many different musical genres in hotels. Alejandra released her debut album, Que Lloren Las Mujeres Tontas on the Rodven label. The album received wide critical acclaim. It included hit songs such as the title track and gave great impretus to a promising career. Alejandra’s second album, Locuras brought her international recognition. Also on the Rodven label, the album helped solidify her status as up-and-coming merengue star. The album showed Alejandra’s energy as well as talent with a mixture of ballads and very danceable songs such as “Como Pez En El Agua” and “Mar De Emociones”. Produced by Tony “Tun Tun” Castro, who also worked with Elvis Crespo and Grupo Manía, Alejandra has released her third album, the self-titled Maria Alejandra and possibly her best effort to date. The recording appears on the Universal label with great songs such as “Me Equivoque” . The album also included Si Tú Te Vas, which appears on two tracks: once as a ballad, her first, and again in merengue form. Both tracks are excellent examples of Alejandra’s talent.

Search Add 9 Philippine Brass Band Philippine culture is a combination of Eastern and Western cultures. The Philippines exhibits aspects found in other Asian countries with a Malay heritage, yet its culture also displays a significant amount of Spanish and American influences. Traditional festivities known as barrio fiestas (district festivals) to commemorate the feast days of patron saints are common. The Moriones Festival and Sinulog Festival are a couple of the most well-known. These community celebrations are times for feasting, music, and dancing. Some traditions, however, are changing or gradually being forgotten due to modernization. The Bayanihan Philippine National Folk Dance Company has been lauded for preserving many of the various traditional folk dances found throughout the Philippines. They are famed for their iconic performances of Philippine dances such as the tinikling and singkil that both feature the use of clashing bamboo poles. In these fiestas and festivals various bands and ensemble play the Brass Band Instruments- the tuba, xylophone, saxophone, clarinet and oboe. The sheet above issued in 2001 features these instruments. Search Add 9 Holy Tire Iron Holy Tire Iron was a 90s audio zine project by Reverend Raye, from West Somerville, Massachusetts. One would call the phone number and listen to the stories that others had left on the machine. It was not a 900 service, so if you were outside of the Boston area you had to pay for long distance phone charges. There was no advertising, the 'message changed every day,' and was made up of what callers called in. It was active for a number of years in the early-mid 1990s. The motto was "Inspiration is only a phone call away" and Raye called it free public media and added "Would you like fries with your art?"

Search Add 9 Simões Da Hora Joaquim Simões da Hora Portuguese organist, producer and recording supervisor for classical releases. Joaquim Simões da Hora (1941-1996) stood out in the last quarter of the 20th century as the greatest Portuguese performer of Iberian Early Music for organ. In this respect his qualities as a performer came to be known in various European countries and even in the United States of America. Working within the ‘new’ Early Music current that arose in the second half of the 20th century, he was one of a generation of performers whose interpretations were founded on the use of historical techniques andinstruments, such as Jordi Savall, Ton Koopman and José Luís Uriol. His performances were recorded in four albums, which demonstrate his considerable capacities as a performer. Joaquim Simões da Hora’s professional activity also extended to the domain of pedagogy, in which he reformed the organ class of the Conservatório Nacional, where he taught between 1977 and 1995. In addition to his activities as performer and teacher, throughout his career he was deeply involved in publicising the heritage of Portuguese music, especially in relation to the organ, as well as in producing and providing musical supervision of many of the sound recordings of classical music published in Portugal in the last three decades of the 20th century. Joaquim Simões da Hora left this world in April 1996. He remains, however, as one of the great organists of recent history. His legacy is felt in the impetus he gave to awakening the interest of young performers of Early Music for organ, in his sound recordings and in his promotion of musical life in Portugal in relation to the organ from the mid 90s onwards, through the systematic creation of music festivals for organ. in HORA, Tiago Manuel da (2010). "Joaquim Simões da Hora: Intérprete, Pedagog e Divulgador", Universidade Nova de Lisboa (UNL-FCSH), Master Degree Thesis.

He joined the Regimental Band of the 13th/18th Royal Hussars (QMO) as a Band boy in Wolfenbuttel, Germany in 1946, and was described as an extremely popular young man and a superb musician. He was posted to the Royal Military School of Music at Kneller Hall in 1952 to attend a Bandmaster’s Course, and became Bandmaster of the Lancashire Fusiliers (1956 to 1964). He was then commissioned as Director of Music of the Alamein Staff Band of the Royal Tank Regiment, and remained in that post until 1970 when he became Director of Music of The Life Guards. Soon after arriving he was promoted to Major (DOM) and then became the Senior Director of Music, Household Cavalry. While with The Life Guards, he formed a record company called Fionmace, which was extremely successful until he sold the business in the late 1990s. He retired from the Army in 1984 and went to the Middle East as DOM of the Royal Oman Police Band where he was promoted to Colonel. Whilst in Oman he made his mark by designing and building an enormous School of Music for the use of over 200 bandsmen. He also significantly raised the standard of musicianship in the Omani Police Band which, when he first arrived, was very basic. Upon his retirement in 1995, he returned to England and spent his spare time teaching the piano and singing in his local church choir. He died on 16 February 2002, aged 71.

Search Add 9 Gosia Bartosik Gosia Bartosik Gosia Bartosik (b. 1986) is an artist working in the medium of drawing, painting, installation, linocut and tattooing. She graduated from the Faculty of Painting and Printmaking at the University of Arts in Poznań in 2012, and she is currently a doctoral student at the same school. Her works are featured in solo and group exhibitions, print publications, street art and other activities going “outside galleries”. Bartosik’s works are a critical commentary to human sensitivity and insensitivity. The artist ask questions about the human condition and points to the way of treating the world, animals and other people. She conveys her observations usually in misshapen forms, “not entirely human, not entirely animal, biologically broken”. Bartosik is one of the foremost promoters of contemporary drawing in Poland. As the artist emphasizes herself, drawing is a separate language and delight. It provides opportunity to exist between several realities.

Search Add 9 Denny Bellens Denny Bellens Denny Bellens aka Black Buddha or dBell, was born in the summer of 1980 in Bangkok, Thailand. He arrived in Belgium when he was 12 and continues to reside here, the place he is proud to call home. Music has been his passion since he was a child, he was attracted by two styles of music, The first one being, punk and the other, simply House. Already the young Buddha was talking enthusiastically about the desire to combine these two giants of music into one glorious mix. Just as an experiment, or maybe, just out of pure curiosity, it was to prove a turning point for the young Denny. However, To become member of the popular school groups, you had to have listened to one style of music only? This of course wasn't the written law, but the way he saw it he didn't have a choice. Denny would befriend all the musicians he could, in order to find the inspiration he so desperately needed, he would need to play by these rules. Pressure from his peers and the inability to make this choice meant that Denny was totally alone in this almost unheard of musical change, but he knew that it could change, and he would one day be the one to change the face of what we know as popular music and also to create diversity into what had become a segregated music policy. For him it was ok to be attracted by so many different styles of music and create some kind of crossover. This was the message he needed to share. However this would not prove to be easy and Denny would spend the next few years alone trying these new and radical ideas out in the privacy of his own small studio. It was after this, that he would become fascinated with Dance, soul, and mainstream pop, he started to hear the sound that he was searching for. When he was 15, he joined his brother and other friends as they went out to clubs. This atmosphere drew him even deeper toward House and Dance songs. From that moment, he decided to become DJ. A few years later, when he was 23, he bought a turntable from a friend. This was his real first step toward finally bringing his unique style of music to the masses. After a while, he got the break he needed an opportunity to become a DJ in Club Dodge. Denny enjoyed his small following of kids, who believed in what he was trying to do. His collection of vinyl's expanded very fast. At this time another club in the area 'Club Boccaccio' had organized a DJ Contest, Denny would not did only participate, but won this DJ Contest, practically sweeping all the dull and mundane competition away!! After winning this special event, he was contacted by Club Illusion and he became Resident DJ at Club DeLite. In 2008 he participated the Bonzai Reworx Contest. He didn't win this one, but his remix was officially released on Bonzai Reworx. One year later, his first EP was released on Decibel NYC. Denny was starting to realize his dream, and his following were growing even stronger, this was the start of his revolution! When Club DeLite finally closed there doors, due to whatever reason, he had more time to work on his own productions. Releasing his music this way was much harder, but he still continued. Not long ago, he contacted more active people in the industry and some interesting projects are in progress. His only goal is to release music he loves and spread his music, his style.
