Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Jerome De Pietro Jerome Di Pietro After studying electro-acoustic music Jerome taught himself to play drums and joined his first band. Training as a tape-operator he worked alongside [a=George Chkiantz] ([a=Led Zeppelin], [a=Jimi Hendrix], [a=Rolling Stones]) and was soon engineering his own sessions. Armed with the knowledge of the recording studio as an instrument in its own right, he collected his own equipment and started making music. Within a year he was working for the UK band "[a=Dodgy]". As well as programming on ‘[r=412266]’ he produced the additional music which dovetails the album tracks and contributed b-sides and dance mixes. He joined the band for the UK leg of their album tour then returned to the studio to remix the whole of the album. The result, '[r=11765341]', was well received on its release although it was overshadowed by the band's well publicised split. It is available as disc 2 of the greatest hits compilation 'Ace A's and Killer B's'. Post [a=Dodgy], Jerome continued working with Nigel Clark - their singer, bassist and main song writer. Together they collaborated on the music for "2by4", “Refuge” and other film/tv soundtracks. The pair also worked on ‘fader5000’ – a band and multimedia project for which they recorded the unreleased album ‘Make Believe Love’. As ‘Baroque Dub’ Jerome has produced a number of eclectic underground releases. The album ‘It’s A Lifestyle Thing’ is considered by many to have been at the forefront of the bootleg and mash-up scenes. A part-time member of the Birmingham (UK) hip-hop/funk/reggae collective ‘Munchbreak’, he is also integral to the live experimental space funk of ‘FuzzMagic’. He now runs a netlabel promoting predominantly digi-dub and mixtape releases.

Search Add 2 The Kobielush Brothers The Kobielush brothers come from a family of five boys. They were raised in a country home in Northern Wisconsin where they developed a fondness for the out-of-doors. Such an environment provided time for the brothers to gather around the piano and sing their favorite gospel songs. The eldest brother, Bob, resides with his wife JoAnn in Los Angeles, California where he is a seminary student. Jim and his wife Ann live in Iowa where he is employed by an insurance company. Bruce is the youngest of the trio. He played the piano, sings the baritone, and does the musical arranging for the group. One of his compositions, 'I'll Be Ready, Lord, To Go', is heard on this record. Bruce is a freshman at Bethel College in St. Paul where he will major in music. Dave sings the lead tenor and is a student at the University of Wisconsin where he is preparing for a career in social welfare. He enjoys listening to gospel music and like sports of all kinds. Don sings the first tenor and is also a student at the University of Wisconsin. He likes hunting and enjoys studies in the natural sciences.

Search Add 2 The It Men The history of rock n’ roll might be one of those paths leading to hell -- a famous hell, where the Devil has the best tunes -- and where the paving stones are seldom built from good intentions. Rock n’ roll is show biz. Its lovers come for the big lights, and big names. It’s full of the deluded, the egomaniacal, the suckers and the stubborn. But can rock n’ roll be based purely on friendship? That doesn‘t count in the big time, you say. But if rock n’ roll is today’s folk music, then folk music is whatever folks want it to be, right? And if people want it to be about friendship, then let it be so. For friendship is greater than those rock n’ roll daydreams and knickknacks. The musical moments we all share as fans is what really makes this music come to life. The It*Men are music lovers, but also friends. That makes this band very important to them. And when one of these friends is terminally ill, that makes the band even more important to not just the It*Men themselves, but to their friends, family, and other loved ones. But why the hell should you care? You’ve probably never met these guys. Friendship is what brought the It*Men into being. At It*Men lead guitarist Matt Cassidy’s wedding bash, his college pal Ken Janssen sang along to a Pulp tune during karaoke. Ken couldn’t sing, but was smart, funny, and could go from obnoxious to charming (and back again) in the time it takes to down a shot. Matt had plenty of musical ideas that he wasn’t using in his main group, the psych-rock band New Planet Trampoline. Other wedding attendees, such as Ben Gmetro, leader of “cosmic cowboy” band The Dreadful Yawns was in the same situation. These tunes were three or four-chord jams, big on volume but not terribly, let’s say, “sophistication”. Perhaps what these caveman chords needed was a character like Ken to beef them up while playing the ham. So Ben and Matt grabbed Ken, their friends/bandmates Charlie Druesedow and Dave Molnar (drums and bass, respectively), and created the It*Men. They also made sure to grab a lot of alcohol. Unlike New Planet Trampoline and The Dreadful Yawns, who were heavily engaged in the business of writing, recording, and touring, the It*Men were supposed to be a boozy poker-night activity where the bar was low but the beers were full. So there were no real worries when Ken clammed up during a run-through of the It*Men’s first tune, “Baby I’m Your Man”. During the first It*Men show, so terrified was Ken that he drunkenly lay in the parking lot of the Beachland Ballroom as the band played on stage. Again, these antics were laughed off. After a few gigs, Ken worked with his stage fright. He’d get scared, then get wasted, and then hit the stage like some Jack Black-ified maniac. Ken got both band and crowd fired up. Microphones got broken, beer bottles flew through the air, ceiling tiles fell, costumes were put on, and pants came off (not infrequently, it seemed). High art it wasn’t, but it made for some wild and goddamn glorious parties. But how would the It*Men, now one of THE must-see party rock bands in Cleveland, figure out a way to take their drunken antics into the recording studio? They already had a concept album planned out. Taking a cue from This Is Spinal Tap, they created a phony, tongue-in-cheek biography. This whale tale claimed the It*Men were a hit band who, after hitting their zenith in the mid-60s and late70s, dissolved into obscurity. Their album -- entitled Greatest Its -- would be a “greatest hits” album drawn from a totally fake career spanning over several years. This gave the It*Men the leeway to make a universal rock album full of stylistic zigs and zags. Four days and countless beers later, the It*Men finished their debut. Greatest Its starts with a sizzle as “Tell You The Truth” pan-fries an AC/DC intro while searing in some smart-assery: “How can you fuck/when you’re fucked in the head/How can you live/Rock n’ roll is dead”. We then move on to a noisy Motor City-inspired flirtation, “Come And Get Some”, collide with some out-and-out smut with “That’s Not The Way I Heard It”, get downright stupidly brilliant with “Doing Drugs For You” and headlong into a ride on the trippy “Death Machine”. Ken screams, bellows, gargles, coughs, while the rest of the It*Men take every classic garage rock cliché and smush them like cigarette butts into crushed beer cans. The It*Men released Greatest Its, commencing a marathon of shenanigans at Cleveland’s rock bars. Some nights, the band brilliantly held their own while Ken doled out laughs. Other nights, the It*Men just staggered drunkenly. Whatever the case, Clevelanders just lapped it up until one day the well ran dry. Friendships were fraying because some It*Men wanted to concentrate on their original projects; others were just done being part of a high-voltage comedy sketch where the punch line was “…I guess you just had to be there.” Through the passage of time, rough spots between the band members were smoothed over. When Ken was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) 10 years after the demise of the It*Men, the deep friendship that brought the band into being flourished once again. While medical bills were stacking up, Ken was looking for something to get his mind off the illness that was consuming him. The solution was to reform the band, record new tunes for release, and play one final gig, all of which would go to defray Ken’s costs, boost his spirits, and solidify the bond between the members of the It*Men. In June of 2013, the It*Men, their friends, and a who’s who of Cleveland rock vocalists performed Greatest Its in its entirety, along with new songs like the comedic “Bowie Dick Test”. The night turned into a loud and wild celebration of life and love of rock n’ roll that no one who attended will ever forget. So it’s no surprise that a real spirit of fun resides in the grooves of Greatest Its. You’d think a record this good would be a big deal in the rock n’ roll marketplace. One listen to Greatest Its, and it should be your own personal big deal, especially if you love AC/DC, The Stooges, The MC5, and any number of long-gone garage band. But more importantly, this record is a big deal to the It*Men. Greatest Its, however, is a big deal among the It*Men, whose joy at making music together gives a real, visceral, and honest OOMPH to the tunes you’ll find on this record. Laugh with them, rock with them, and as soon as you do, share this record with your own fellow rock n’ roll lovers. -Edward Ángel Sotelo - July 2013

Search Add 2 The 5 Rising Sons Canadian band from Burlington, Ontario. Originally formed in 1964 under the name The Rising Sons with lineup of Ron Canning (lead and rhythm guitar, vocals), Mike Kotur (lead and rhythm guitar, vocals), Pete Davidson (organ, vocals), Dave Best (bass), and Robin McMillan (drums). After a successful show at McMillan's father's Ford dealership in the summer of 1965 they were signed by [l=Columbia Records Of Canada, Ltd.] In 1966 they changed names to The 5 Rising Sons to avoid confusion with a U.S. band of the same name. That same year Pete Davidson left to attend university in the U.K. and in September was replaced by Bruce Ley on organ. In 1968 the band changed labels from Columbia to [l=Yorkville], who had them change their name to The Willapuss Wallapuss.

Search Add 2 The New Weather Machine Hailing from the prairies of southern Alberta, Canada, The New Weather Machine is a four-piece indie/alternative rock band led by singer, songwriter, and lead guitar player Jon Martin. The band’s sound combines jangly guitars, concise guitar leads, analogue synthesizers, and big drums to evoke the spirit of mid-70s coastal rock and early 90s alternative. Jon brings a wealth of studio mastery and experience gained from producing rock, country, classical, and indie records for other artists to explore the potential of the modern studio, while maintaining an organic approach to performance and sound creation. The band was formed as Jon’s studio project in 2008, releasing their eponymous debut album in 2009. Performed extensively across western Canada, they released the November ’09 Basement Demos EP in 2009, and the November Basement Demos 2010 EP in 2010. The band went on hiatus in 2014 while Jon focused on electroacoustic composition and completed his Master of Music degree. The sophomore album, Seas of Dawn – released September 15th, 2017 – features legendary studio drummer Kenny Aronoff and was produced by Jon Martin. The band is currently working on the follow-up record, Nothing Comes Between Us (to be released early 2018).

Search Add 2 The California Feet Warmers Lovers of ragtime, stompy blues and hot jazz, The California Feetwarmers are renowned for an earthy depth of character that sets them apart from others who have followed that throwback path to New Orleans, Circa 1920. Their boisterous on-stage presence is solidly underpinned by playing that is as close to the source as it can be. This is the band that Keb’ Mo’ sought out to provide an air of authenticity when he recorded his latest album, BluesAmericana. The collaboration won them a Grammy-nomination in the Best American Roots Performance category. Based in Los Angeles, they stylishly cultivate and re-work old classics, re-visiting material from The Blue Ridge Playboys, Scott Joplin, The Memphis Jugband and Emile Grimshaw’s Rag Pickers. When Keb’ Mo’ grabbed them to provide the right feel for the track that has won them so much attention, he did so as he wanted it to be “a joyous thing – a party,” he told The Wall Street Journal in a recent interview. …Now couldn’t we all do with a bit of that in our lives right now!
