Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 2 | Don Crisp | Don Crisp | Don Crisp was born in Chicago and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. He started taking piano lessons at the age of six from an aunt who wanted him to play in church. When Don was eight his father, Maurice, bought him an alto saxophone, and by the time he was 15 was proficient with the upright bass, clarinet, electric bass and drums. All this musical activity in high school led to a music scholarship at the University of Memphis. After leaving college in 1989 he relocated to California, and it was there, in the San Francisco Bay Area, that he began using his musical skills to make his own music. Subsequently he became a keyboardist for prolific Jamaican reggae artists such as Pablo Moses, The Mighty Diamonds, Frankie Paul, The Itals, and Foundation. He also accompanied them on extensive tours of the U.S, Canada, and Europe. It was in the Bay Area that he first experienced house music and other forms of electronic dance music. He was greatly influenced by what he heard and by the mid ‘90s had started his own label, Crisp Records, initially releasing material with fellow San Francisco musician and dj, Chris Lum. He put out three EPS on the imprint before moving on to other projects. The label had been quiet since the late ‘90s, but in the summer of 2011 Don revived it, renaming it Crisp Recordings, and began a collaboration with legendary Bay Area producer, Guy Nado AKA DJ Rasoul. |

Search | Add | 2 | Helena Morsztyn | Comtesse Helena Morsztyn (ca. 1889-1954) was born in Warsaw in 1889 (or 1888), a daughter of Count Kazimierz Morsztyn (1855-1900). Her mother, Maria Klemensowska (1859-1933), was a pianist and the first teacher of Helena. Her grandmother Zofia Klemensowska (née Malhomme, 1830-1905), daughter of a Polish 19th Century exile in Paris, was a pupil of Frédéric Chopin. From the grandmother Helena received many priceless hints and was fostered in a love and understanding of Chopin's music, evidenced in her many concert recitals. Helena stated in later years that her grandmother was an exceptional pianist, greater than she, but being a member of the aristocracy could not engage in a public career. One of Helena's relatives, Jan Andrzej Morsztyn (1621-1693), was one of Poland's great poets. After her regular educational studies she was taken to Vienna at the age of eleven to study with Teodor Leszetycki (Theodor Leschetizky, 1830-1915). New students were assigned to preparatory teachers and the Norwegian pianist, Dagmar Walle Hanson (1871-1954) became Helena's teacher at the beginning. Advanced study was with Leszetycki. This eleven-year-old "wonder child" captivated audiences in the Warsaw Philharmonic. One of Europe's great and favored concert pianists, Emil von Sauer (1862-1942) became her instructor. Sauer, seeing the sixteen-year-old student obtaining the high prize that the Austrian State bestowed on her after graduating from the Meisterschule in Vienna, dedicated one of his concert studies, "Sylphes Glissante" to Helena. Among her Vienna colleagues were Elly Ney (1882-1968), Henrietta Michelson (later of the Juilliard faculty) and Mieczysław Horszowski (1892-1993). Emil von Sauer had planned a concert tour of Spain but was unable to go and he chose Helena to fill the engagement. Her brilliant success led to tours in other countries confirming her a virtuoso of the first rank. The Italians in Rome and Genoa and Spaniards in Madrid lost their hearts to the witty young girl who resembled a rosy baroque angel. Her music cast its spell over Cairo, where even the great rabbi of Rome listened from the seclusion of a box to the Chopin melodies rendered by this young Polish pianist. She played in the residence of the conqueror of Iraq. A home was established in Italy and concerts were given throughout Europe. After World War I, a family named Kirby** became her friends and took her to England. It is possible that at this time she made the HMV phonograph recording (Scherzo B flat Minor - Chopin). More records were made of the Chopin Waltzes and Mazurkas for a small recording company Transphono. In 1928 she came to the U.S.A. and her New York debut was in the Guild Theatre in an all-Chopin recital. William MacPhail, founder and director of the MacPhail School of Music in Minneapolis, offered Helena a position on the faculty of the school as head of the piano department. Some altercation between them caused Helena to leave the school and open a private studio and give a series of master classes until the early years of World War II. She returned to Italy but due to conditions at that time, she returned to the USA to live, teach and give concerts. A Town Hall recital was given December 3,1941 with other recitals in 1944, 1945 and 1948. She had a studio in New York but later moved to Minneapolis to teach and give master classes at Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, S.D. from 1944 to 1947. Helena was a close friend of Ignacy Jan Paderewski (1860-1941) and a daily visitor in the home of Paderewski's sister, Antonina Paderewska-Wilkońska (1857-1941). The conditions of World War II in 1941 forced Paderewski and his sister to live in Florida. When Paderewski died June 29, 1941, Helena was with the bereaved sister. She was a fervent admirer of Eugen d'Albert (1864-1932) and admired his Beethoven interpretations. During World War I she was able to contact her family in Warsaw only through the Vatican and d'Albert. The latter possessed two passports, British and German which he used during the troublesome times, and he was ever expeditious to aid Helena. Helena gave many concerts and worked to assist Polish refugees to reduce the misery caused by the invasion of the Nazis. It is probable she made the piano rolls [Welte) when in Germany during tours. Welte roll E1163 of Liszt's Concert Etude D flat Major No 3 is listed in the 1917 catalog. Her death was May 22, 1954, caused by a cerebral hemorrhage suffered May 8th at her home, 189 East 64th Street in New York. One of Helena's students, J. Earl Lee (1908-1992), Professor Emeritus of Music at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D. recalled her playing in the master classes as "My memory of moments of intense beauty, rarely if ever exceeded by other listening experiences." During the summer of 1938 she appointed Mr. Lee to be her assistant in her master classes; prior to this he had several months of study with her in Genoa, Italy. **Mrs. Kirby was Contessa Maria Luisa Fantoni (?-1946), member of a historic Florentine Family, and Mr. William Henry Kirby (1872-1936) was a composer and a member of a prominent British banking family. Article by Emmett M. Ford, appearing in The AMICA bulletin, November 1981. Spelling of names fixed, dates added.

By 1973 the metamorphosis from trio to quartet was complete with Dewey becoming a full member. The group lasted until October 1976 and recorded almost a dozen albums in this brief period, sometimes featuring extra musicians such such as guitarist [a=Sam Brown (2)] or percussionists [a=Guilherme Franco] and [a=Airto Moreira]. The American Quartet was given this moniker to distinguish it from Jarrett's "European" or "Scandinavian Quartet", featuring [a=Jan Garbarek], [a=Palle Danielsson] and [a=Jon Christensen]. It should be noted that even though both groups formally existed, they were never credited as such on any of the albums they released, which generally only billed Keith Jarrett as main artist.

A true pioneer in the field of square dance recordings, Doc Alumbaugh was a part of the square dance "explosion" that hit America in the mid and late 1940s. Together with his wife, Winnie, he conducted some of the largest classes in the Southern California area when classes were still a novelty. Doc was one of the first callers to travel and call in States outside his own home area. He identified a need for learning material to provide students so they could practice at home and not forget the steps they learned in class every other week. After retiring from his "day" job in business management, he started Windsor Records in his garage, doing all the production, shipping and selling himself. His initial goal was to provide records to people enrolled in his dance classes, but when other dancers and callers expressed interest in the records he expanded his business. Within two years, Windsor Records had outgrown Alumbaugh's garage and had moved to a rather large building in Temple City that housed its own pressing, printing, processing, and warehousing facilities. Soon, his label became one of the foremost square dance record labels. In addition to hiring excellent session musicians, Windsor introduced the idea of releasing a record with calls on one side and just the instrumental version on the other side. He was a member of the original Southern California Callers Pow Wow and was largely responsible for the formation of the Southern California Callers Association. Doc's life was cut short on January 7, 1964 and Winnie followed him a short while later.

He started his career at Mr. Jam, an offshoot of the initial ideas produced by his college band called U.S. (Union of Souls). Changed the name when signing with the record company. Many of the band's ideas came from his head. He played the guitar, composed, sang, made arrangements. All this experience acquired in the movement of electronic music and dance music in Rio de Janeiro in the 90s, in which he already produced several songs for various dance music projects and singers, gave the artist the luggage to act today as one of the great producers of electronic music in a more commercial line (international dance pop latin), but the genre is not a limit for the artist. He currently runs Massiva - Music & Management: a label and an audiovisual and management production company. |

The members are Vincent Makowski aka Vincent Rawson (Voice and Programmer) and Miłosław Ciesielski aka DOX :( (Keyboard and Back Up Vocals). In 2005 (When they were known as Mister Vincent Fuck Off) they only did local concerts and released 2 Demos until in 2006 they released their first EP (Self-Titled) and decided to change their name to Mister Vincent Crunk That (Due to what they hated the old name) and finally in 2007 they released "SNES", Their first full-length album. In the following years, MVCT would be perfecting their sound and releasing some albums independently, they even got to do concerts in US and UK. In 2010, they decided to take a long break until the following year, they announced that the band had been dissolved, due to personal problems and that they were tired of making music for several years. Vincent and Miłosław decided to go their own way. Miłosław would be honing his talent in art and experimenting with styles, while Vincent would continue to make music on his own to this day and he would also be working in a hairdresser in Warsaw

However, due to various reasons, Master Wu often changed personnel and it was only in 2008 that the formation of personnel has remained until now: Madz, Yudz, Dawz, and El. The name Master Wu comes from the name of a cultural revolutionary figure from a generation in the Bamboo Curtain Country who spoke out loud about the dire conditions at that time. The name then penetrated into the way of music. Not surprisingly, Master Wu often performed songs with social, philosophical and psychological themes.

Search | Add | 2 | Barthelemy Arakino | Barthélémy Tugarue Arakino | Barthélémy Tugarue Arakino or Barthélémy is a Polynesian singer , guitarist , ukulele player and singer-songwriter , born on October 3 , 1956 in Papeete and died on February 16 , 2015 in Pirae , on the island of Tahiti in French Polynesia . Until the 1980s, Barthélémy's albums were published on cassettes . Barthélémy Tugarue Arakino, also known as "Barthélémy Arakino" or "Barthélémy Tugarue", sometimes nicknamed "Barthé" or "Atamu", but more commonly called "Barthélémy", was born Papeete in Tahiti from a family from Hao in the Tuamotu archipelago and grew up in the Outumaoru district of Punaauia . He is influenced by the music of his uncle, Teiti Ganahoa, with whom he sang from the age of ten. His professional career began in 1975, when Alphonse Vanfau, who directed the Studio Alphonse label, decided to produce it . Barthélémy writes and composes a good part of his songs, which he signs indifferently "Barthélémy Arakino" or "Barthélémy Tugarue". Most of his texts are written in Paumotu , the language spoken in his family, or in Tahitian . He also sings in French or sometimes in English . When they are not talking about love, his texts deal with often light themes, such as happiness and easy living. He is known for the cheerful and catchy character of his songs, which are readily played in Polynesian "bruises", and quickly acquires the nickname "king" of "kaina" music, name given to this music so typical of Polynesian family and popular celebrations. In june 2005 , Barthélémy wins the " 9 weeks and 1 day " ultramarine song contest organized by RFO with one of his great hits "Café de d' amour". This award allows him to perform on the Francofolies de La Rochelle stage in july 2005 . In 2008, he collaborated with the very popular Angelo on a duet album, "Fa'ahua Nou Nou". In 2009, he appeared in concert at the New Morning with other Tahitian singers for an evening of Polynesian music to meet his metropolitan audience. Barthélémy is admitted in november 2014 at the Taaoné Hospital Center in Pirae on the island of Tahiti , after contracting the chikungunya virus. Despite a state of health considered critical, he chooses to return home to be surrounded by his loved ones. The February 16 , 2015 , Barthélémy is readmitted in emergency to the Taaoné Hospital Center. He died there from respiratory failure caused by the virus. In the days that followed, the two main Polynesian television channels paid tribute to him: Friday February 20, 2015 , Tahiti Nui TV devotes an evening to him by broadcasting the first documentary ever made on the artist and then repeating the last concert he gave in july 2014 at the Grand Theater of the Maison de la Culture in Papeete; the Saturday February 21, 2015 , Polynesia 1st broadcasts a special program of half an hour. Barthélémy recorded two hundred songs on fifteen albums with Alphonse Vanfau, who was also an accordionist of the Polynesian group famous in the 1960s The Super Boys . Alphonse Vanfau died in 2016. Along with Angelo , Bobby and Gabilou , Barthélémy was considered to be one of the most popular Polynesian singers of their generation.Only a small number were released on discs or ported in digital format, so that there remain many albums which are no longer distributed. Original recordings exist but are very rare and difficult to find on the second-hand market. |
