Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Василий Семёнович Гроссман Wassili Semjonowitsch Grossman Vasily Semyonovich Grossman (Russian: Васи́лий Семёнович Гро́ссман; 12 December (29 November, Julian calendar) 1905 – 14 September 1964) was a Soviet writer and journalist. Born to a Jewish family in Ukraine, then part of the Russian Empire, Grossman trained as a chemical engineer at Moscow State University, earning the nickname Vasya-khimik ("Vasya the Chemist") because of his diligence as a student. Upon graduation he took a job in Stalino (now Donetsk) in the Donets Basin. In the 1930s he changed careers and began writing full-time, publishing a number of short stories and several novels. At the outbreak of the Second World War, he was engaged as a war correspondent by the Red Army newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda; he wrote first-hand accounts of the battles of Moscow, Stalingrad, Kursk, and Berlin. Grossman's eyewitness reports of a Nazi extermination camp, following the discovery of Treblinka, were among the earliest accounts of a Nazi death camp by a reporter. There is some dispute over the extent of the state repression Grossman endured after the war. While he was never arrested, his two major literary works (Life and Fate and Everything Flows) were censored by the Khrushchev government as unacceptably anti-Soviet. At the time of Grossman's death from stomach cancer in 1964, these books remained unreleased. Hidden copies were eventually smuggled out of the Soviet Union by a network of dissidents, including Andrei Sakharov and Vladimir Voinovich, and first published in the West in 1980, before appearing in the Soviet Union in 1988.

Search Add 2 Sebastian Curi Sebastian Curi is an Argentinian illustrator and animator based in Los Angeles. He creates colorful characters using big bold shapes and strong lines. Originally an animator, Seb spent around ten years in the animation industry before switching disciplines to focus on illustrative work. His experience allowed him to develop a unique style of illustration, centering around quirky figures who live in their own super stylised universe. Thanks to his previous experience, they just so happen to animate beautifully too.

Search Add 2 Breen Schipke Cairns born and Brisbane trained, Breen Schipke was always destined to be making music. With early tuition in piano, cornet, guitar, bass, drums and music theory, Breen always had music both in the blood and in his head. Arriving in Brisbane at age 18, he began the long journey through numerous bands both original and covers as he sort out that most elusive of roles as a professional musician: to be able to both eat and play at the same time! Involved in numerous recordings and gigging bands (including the likes of Barb, Dirt Petty, Spank, the Dave Ritter Band, Suzie MacKenzie) Breen decided he needed to get a stronger grip on his destiny and set out to learn both sides of the industry on both sides of the mic and gained a Diploma from the SAE and then a Bachelor of Music from the Qld Conservatorium. Majoring in Sonology (the study of sound) with minors in voice, bass and piano. Breen finally then ‘made the grade’ spending 6 years gigging and touring professionally throughout Qld .

Search Add 2 Marcus Keef Keith Stuart MacMillan Marcus Keef is a pseudonym. His real name is Keith Stuart MacMillan (b. 1947). He changed his professional name to ‘Marcus Keef’ to avoid any clash or confusion with the slightly older and established photographer Keith Lionel McMillan (b. 16 April 1934, d. 22 March 2012, aged 77). The younger MacMillan obviously decided that a pseudonym would avoid any potential work issues and ‘Keef’ is an obvious take on the Rolling Stones Keith ‘Keef’ Richards, whilst the ‘Marcus’ aspect is of unknown origin. He seems to have started his career around 1968, working predominantly with Vertigo, RCA (Neon) and CBS labels.
