Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Leilolai Leilolai was a New York City-based, alternative, experimental and progressive indie duo and one of the most unique bands that was part of the independent underground scene in Brooklyn (Williamsburg and Bushwick) in the late 2000's, this city in an influential era in music, fashion, art and culture. The duo was composed of lead vocalist, percussionist Christina Cáceres, who was formerly known as a Salsa music artist; and bass guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and music producer Lesly Kühr, who worked as an in-demand session musician/engineer and touring bassist for bands such as Zuco 103 before he founded Leilolai together with Christina. Leilolai performed all over N.Y.C. in numerous venues, warehouse parties, and was invited to play live on independent freeform radio station WFMU, and featured on Japanese national TV for NHK program 'New York Wave', and was invited by Werner "Zappi" Diermaier from German krautrock band Faust to do a special guest appearance at their show in a venue in Belgium and performed their song "Medicated Nation" from Leilolai's then upcoming album "Secrets, Gold, Evergreen", being joined on stage by the band Faust. They composed, wrote, arranged, and produced their own music and self-released three albums [from 2007 to 2010]. Collaborations include members from Mint Condition, Faust, Zuco 103, and the Eddie Palmieri Salsa Orchestra.

Search Add 2 Dmanufacture In the wake of a corporate takeover dManufacture was born. The name comes from the regrouping and getting back to what is real in music: heartfelt words and melodies with a message that will outlive the messenger. Founded by David Glenn Rankin (formerly with Epic band downstem) on vocals and guitar and Brad Melton (bass, vocals) the two took their time putting together the right members. “We wanted to have more of a family than a project, but were fortunate to have some of the greatest session guys around instead” states Melton.

Search Add 2 Eleanor Collins Elnora Ruth Procter Elnora Ruth Procter was born on November 21, 1919 in Edmonton, Alberta. Her parents were of Black and Creole Indian heritage and were originally from the state of Oklahoma. As a girl, she sang and played hymns, religious songs, and anthems, and was involved in Shiloh Baptist Church in Edmonton, a congregation formed by those recent immigrants. At age 15, she won a talent contest in Edmonton and then sang with Joe Macelli's dance band, and the Three Es. In 1938, she relocated to Vancouver and began performing with the Swing Low Quartette, a gospel group that consisted of Collins, her sister, Ruby Sneed, along with Edna Panky and Zandy Price. They performed on CBC Radio from 1940 through 1942. In 1945, she began singing with Ray Norris' jazz quintet on Serenade in Rhythm, also on CBC Radio; a program that ran for several years and was broadcast to troops overseas. After a brief retirement from 1948 through 1952 she appeared at Theatre Under the Stars in Finian's Rainbow in 1952 and 1954 and Kiss Me, Kate in 1953, and in a staging of You Can't Take it With You. In 1954 she began on the CBC Vancouver TV program Bamboula: A Day in the West Indies, marking the first interracial cast in Canada, and the first variety series produced in Vancouver. She was invited by CBC to star in The Eleanor Show, that ran from June 19 to September 11, 1955, making her the first woman, first person of colour, and first jazz singer to headline a show on national TV, predating the Nat King Cole Show. That was followed by Blues and the Ballad and Eleanor Sings the Blues, both in 1960, Were You There? in 1961, and Quintet in 1962. She starred in her second television program, Eleanor, that aired from February 1 to March 2, 1964, with the Chris Gage Trio providing musical backup. She also appeared on many radio and television programs through the 1960s and 70s on both CBC and CTV, remaining in Canada despite offers to move to the U.S.

Search Add 2 Faded Away Faded Away is Gilles Bousquet (aka ‘[a=Mr. Flash]’ / Ed Banger) and Nic Nicola (co-writer of ‘[r=5766847]’ soundtrack / Ed Banger). They describe their sound as “New Romantics going to L.A”, with an emphasis on melody, energy and emotion. Inspired by 70's and 80's influences, the music has a dreamlike, nostalgic feel yet its sonic, cinematic scope is epic. The name Faded Away in itself is a fitting representation of the band's vibe. In part the literal diminution of childhood memories, now tinged with a certain melancholy, but also a subtle play on the words 'Faye Dunaway', the actress and style icon who radiated glamour and retro-elegance.
