Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024
Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 5 | XR66 | Technical death/groove metal band from Kaliningrad, Russia. Started by Anatoliy Smychkov as a continuation of [a=X-Rated 6ex6ex6ex] and [a=Exrated] originally as a solo project in January 2018, later that year expanded to the full band. XR66 takes its roots in 2006 when it was a death metal band called X-Rated 6ex6ex6ex which has released one album "Woodland Belt [Deadly Trap]" but split up during the recording of the second one. Only one man was left - their vocalist Anatoly, who gathered a new recording line up & finished the second album called "SOS" & renamed band to Exrated. But the band couldn't move forward because drummer Oscar Nilsson was from Sweden and it was impossible to rehearse due to geographical separation. The new story of the band began in 2016. At that time Anatoly had joined a local rock band to fill in a role of a bass player. So rock band set off to the Hertz Studio at the beginning of autumn. There was something in the air and Anatoly got an idea to continue the story of X-Rated with a slightly different name and concept. The new band took best ideas from the old songs and started creating new ones.

Search | Add | 5 | Lars Ekengren | Örnsköldsvik, Sweden With a voice that maneuvers effortlessly from a heartrending intimacy to a matter-of-life-and-death roar, Lars Ekengren challenges the very best at delivering a song in a way that leaves no one untouched. Native of Örnsköldsvik, a small town on the coast of northern Sweden, Ekengren grew up to the sound of Ronnie James Dio coming from a cassette player and his father playing jazz trumpet in the basement. Though an engineer by trade, music has been the common thread in Ekengren’s life. In the late 00’s he started performing with original songs, often colored by his five-year stay in the US in the early decade. Following the state win in a song contest hosted by Swedish radio in 2013, his entry song ”153 More Days” got a fair share of airtime and the growing of a fan base slowly started. In 2015 came his debut release, the live-feel EP ”Dirt”, which was well received and served as a stepping stone for landing opening gigs for acts such as Drew Holcomb, Uncle Lucius and The Thousand Dollar Playboys. Ekengren’s debut album ”Monsters” (2018) is a gracefully arranged and well produced collection of songs that certainly brings more to mind than a middle-aged engineer from a small town in the north of Sweden. Blurring the lines between pop, rock and alt-country, ”Monsters” showcases Ekengren’s acute sense for an infectious melody, his powerful lyrical imagery, and – much thanks to his vocals – a persistent energy that this genre of music is not spoiled with. Reflecting on ”Monsters”, Ekengren says: ”It has taken my entire life to write this album – both literally and figuratively. It’s a collection of songs that echoes of fear, pain, happiness, sorrow, love, memories, hopelessness, confusion, resignation, hope, anxiety, alienation … well, pretty much everything and anything that fits into one’s existence. Despite it being my first album – it’s my legacy, of some sort.”.

According to the professional association Country Radio Broadcasters, he was program director at WVMI in Biloxi when Hurricane Camille hit, and he led efforts to provide information and entertainment during the period after the storm. "He's an old-time Mobile guy. He used to be on the radio here," Cain said. "A lot of people haven't seen him or heard him in years."

Search | Add | 5 | Sheep Fiends | Based out of Chicago, the Sheep Fiends are a rotating collective of musicians who record music in an improvisational, impromptu and extemporaneous style. Lyrics are typically composed as the music is played, musicians find their way by ear and it is not uncommon for an instrument to change hands mid-song. The Sheep Fiends play no particular genre and every Sheep Fiends jam is a performance. They started making music almost 30 years ago in 1992 and over 100 musicians have floated in and out of the group, bringing with them a virtual orchestra of instruments. The nucleus of The Sheep Fiends formed around a number of DJ's who met at WRDP: Radio Depaul, DePaul University's college radio station in Chicago.

Search | Add | 5 | Chris Chalfant | Chris Chalfant, born September 10, 1960, Akron, OH; Composer, director, pianist, vocalist, artist, author, and poet; Noted for her unique style as a creative artist, Chris Chalfant is a lyrical, rhythmically compelling, and powerful, innovative driving force in the world of jazz, new and improvised music. Her prolific output of composition and improvisation (over 400 works) draws largely from traditional music of Africa, Hungary and India, as well as from American folk music, jazz and classical music. Critics have compared her music and playing to a wide range of artists: Andrew Hill, Charles Ives, McCoy Tyner, Mal Waldron, Cecil Taylor, Bud Powell, Stravinsky, Don Pullen, Keith Jarrett, Webern, Meredith Monk, Thelonious Monk and a Buddhist monk. She draws from nature, poetry and dance with a strong sense of counterpoint and polyrhythm, resulting in non-ordinary phrasings, tonal structures and rhythmic layerings. Her work is both simple and complex at the same time, where she will take a simple children’s tune and create an expressionistic multi-tonal, multi-rhythmic contrapuntal composition or improvisation. Chalfant has a strong melodic sense as well as a feeling of tranquility in much of her work. Her keen sense of moment-to-moment movement in her composition and improvisation is supported by her training in Buddhism and Aikido, where “living under the blade” results in an unshakable fearlessness, confidence and a path of truth.

Search | Add | 5 | Marty Kapugi | Martin Kapudjija | Martin Kapugi was born in 1910 in Chicago, Illinois. There he spent most of his life, with the exception of several years when his parent took him to their native Yugoslavia. There he attended school, learning the native language, customs, and folklore. It became a real asset to him in later years pursuing his music career. After returning to the United States, he lived in West Virginia, playing the banjo and saxophone, but soon turned to the tamburitza (brac). Since then he became a major figure in Yugoslavian and ethnic music as a singer and brac and cello player. As a singer, it is difficult to describe his voice ... an effortless strong tenor that has thrilled and inspired all who have heard him. There is no better description than "Yoy!" He formed his first tamburitza orchestra in 1929, with his brothers joining him in Chicago. In his orchestra he had many outstanding musicians such as Art Milacek, Vaso Bukvich, Djoko Dokich, Mel Dokich, Matt Jursich, and Bella Balog to mention a few. He began his teaching career as the mentor of his brothers, Frank, Louis, and Adam, and he taught young tamburitzans since 1950. He did much to encourage Yugoslavian youth and to keep the tamburitza alive in America. Several currently well-known tambura players began their career as Marty's pupils. In the late 1940s and 50s, his orchestra established a nightclub known as "The Tamburitza Cafe", featuring his tamburitza orchestra. Their music included Yugoslav and other continental styles, as well as light classics. Among many distinguished guests, Tamburitza Cafe was frequently visited by members of the famous Chicago Symphony Orchestra. In the late 1950s, Marty and his tamburitzans performed weekly for a radio program over radio station WTAQ. The program was called "The Balkan Musical Caravan", and was under the direct sponsorship of the Balkan Music Company of Chicago. The announcer was the well known, international music program director, Rudy Orisek. Rudy Orisek's "International Cafe" television show featured Marty's orchestra in solo performances as well as the accompaniment for internationally renowned artists, such as Martha Schlame, Judy Henske, the well known gypsy violinist David Romaine, and many more. Marty's work is preserved in his many recordings; so numerous, in fact, that it would be difficult to list them all. He made recordings for RCA Victor, Decca, Continental, Columbia, and Zora, but his favorite company was and still is Balkan Records. Besides his own recordings, he accompanied well known Yugoslavian artists such as Vinka Ellesin (crowned 'Queen of Sevdah'), Edo Lubich, Rasha Radenkovich, Urash Seferovich, and many more. He also arranged several Yugoslav songs, among them his favorite "Nema Miga Cange", recorded on Balkan Records. Marty and his tamburitza orchestra toured the United States several times, concertizing with many famous musicians, such as the late Dave Zupkovich. The friends and fans he made during these tours still cherish his recordings. Besides being a conscientious tamburas, Marty is also, as his many affectionate friends insist, a 'regular guy'. Besides being kind, good-natured, and helpful, he belongs to several Yugoslav clubs and other organizations. He was the first tamburas in the Chicago area that joined the musicians' union, and he was a member of the defunct Chicago Tamburitza Club. Presently, besides teaching young tamburitza orchestras, Marty plays for many Yugoslav programs, dances, weddings, and picnics. Members of his group are his brother Frank Kapugi, Urosh Mamula, and Steve Makarovich. Marty Kapugi and his "Sar Planina Orchestra" have done a truly extraordinary job in bringing tamburitza music to many Americans of varied ethnic backgrounds. His work will not be forgotten for many years to come. Congratulations, Marty, on a job well done. |
