Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Plan 13 Plan 13 Biography (as written by Greg Clarke on 1st-June-2007) In 1996, TJ Clarke (vocals), Ronnie O'Dwyer (guiter), Jimmy Mullett (bass) and Eric Gladney (drums) started to play together in the Clarke family basement. This was where Plan 13 started, with me (Greg Clarke) as the original legionnare. Soon though, Dave Mullett took over the bass and his big bro Jimmy moved to 2nd guitar. Also, Eric bowed out for the talent of Corey Slade. This was the original Plan 13 line-up. Shows were played, beers were drank, weed was smoked. It was a good time for music in St. John's/Mount Pearl. Most shows consisted of Plan 13 (of course), Under Authority and Life of Leisure. These guys, as well as a few friends, were where the Legion really began. Myself , Regan Ryan, Kenny Russell, Mike Power, Sean O'Dwyer and a few others were the only non-band members at the beginning. Please let me know if I've forgotten you, because I know there's at least a few. Anyway, things were going great. The legion was growing, the shows were getting bigger and the songs were getting better. Then, one day, TJ decided that he was moving to Alberta (surprise...a Newfie in AB). So our fearless leader was moving on. The funny thing is that I don't think that a single beat was missed. Not because TJ wasn't missed, but because Regan was itching to sing for a band...and since he was so involved in the legion, it just made sense. Now, this is where Dirtneck Records starts to come into play. The boys wanted to make a CD...and it was the most amazing thing for me. These were all of my best friends! I couldn't believe it! I'm going to skip all of the slimy details here. Let's just say that even though we were all happy with the final product, the process with the fledgling "record company" left a lot to be desired. Not to mention the fact that they totally cut out the fast half of Journey to Planet X (my favourite song). But none of that matters now...we all have an album to remember some of the best years of our lives...and that's what matters. Unfortunately, CD sales weren't as good as we hoped. Sales outside of the legion were minimal, and that's about when it started to go downhill. Very slowly at first, but down none the less. The second album was in the works, but was never finished. There were 3 or 4 tracks layed down (at least) which I would kill to get my hands on. They dissapeared with "Ace and Gary" from Dirtneck Records. Corey was hoping to make it big with his other band, Hung Up, so he left to tour with them. Then Jimmy moved to Alberta as well. 2 members down in such a short time. But never fear, the legion was there. Roger Crowley (from Under Authority) and Mark McCrow (from Life of Leisure) filled in as 2nd guitar and drums. But the end was innevitable at this point. TJ came home for the millenium New Year, and the guys played a "reunion" show on January 2nd. This was one of the two shows I couldn't go to. One was because I was under age, and this time was because I got hypothermia after having a mohawk at the waterfront for a freezing fireworks show. After that, there wasn't much left. Squid was eventually recruited to move to Halifax to play with Bucket Truck (wich is now officially over as well), and everyone else just moved on to different things.

Search Add 2 Alvaro Alencar Alvaro Alencar Multiple latin grammy-winning mixer, producer & engineer. Born in Hong Kong in 1968. Alvaro Alencar has over 140 records in his career spanning 20+ years. In this time he has won 13 Latin Grammy Awards, over 25 Latin Grammy nominations, over 30 platinum or gold certificates for CD and DVD sales, which total approximately 10 million units sold. His mixing, tracking and production skills brought him invitations to contribute to the work of top artists in Brazil, as well as from many other countries in Latin America, Europe and the U.S., such as Maria Rita, Gilberto Gil, Lenine and Skank (Brazil), Los Bacilos and Jorge Villamizar (US), Congreso (Chile), Andres Cepeda and Jorge Celedon (a duets project with star guests Shakira, Marco Antonio Solis and Luis Enrique) (Colombia), and Brendan Adams (South Africa). A multi-cultural upbringing both geographical and musical taught Alvaro how to listen to music and its so many different "accents" in ways that make him at home in just as many styles and variations. Add to this Alvaro's fluency in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and bits of German and Italian, and you find in him a producer/mixer that navigates with pleasure the different rhythms and emotions he encounters in projects from all corners of the globe. Throughout the years of travel and recording, Alvaro developed his technical preferences for sound recording and mixing, a path that also got him involved as a technical consultant for several studios in Europe and South America. Always looking to optimize the artist’s comfort in the recording process all the while maintaining a strict control over sound quality, Alvaro’s set-up and preferences include a judicious combination of classic analog mic-pres and outboard, high quality converters for DAWs and top analog summing amps (Neve, SSL or Manley). Given the ever growing restraints in music production budgets consequent to deep market and technology changes affecting the whole of the music industry, Alvaro's keen sense of what matters to maintain a high level of sound quality in music is most valuable to any production. Besides technical and musical abilities of the highest level, two strong characteristics allow Alvaro to excel in the projects he gets involved with. The first is Alvaro's ability to perceive artists' and executives' particular needs in a way that is constructive and comforting for all. The second is his capacity to adapt and improvise while maintaining the highest production values. Alvaro's commitment to the productions he contributes to are felt by peers and clients as an assurance of success. Today Alvaro operates from his base studio in New York, Musa NY, as well as from his Rio de Janeiro based production company, China House. And as the itch to travel and develop his trade never ceases, working in the artist's home ground is always a welcome experience.

Search Add 2 Pkdores Chicago-based Latino Oi!/punk band formed in 2002. Members of Youth Against and Sin Orden. < Biography > Pkdores was formed in the streets of Pilsen 18th st. (Chicago neighborhood). The neighborhood was alive and kicking Spanish hardcore. Los Crudos (early 90's), Youth Against (mid 90's) and Arma Contra Arma had paved the way for the second generation of Spanish Hardcore (late 90's) like Sin Orden, Tras de Nada, I Attak. Pkdores (early 00's) saw a chance to change the traditional Hardcore for the traditional 77 punk style. Heavily influenced by the neighborhoods politics, culture and the working class ethics, the raw, loud, and at times melodic sound was born in the winter of 2003. Since then Fernando and Nuco have remained the original members (former Youth Against members) trying to keep the band alive. 2006 saw the release of their first 7" on red vinyl. Getting a great response and reviews. 2009 they are currently working on a full length CD.

Consisting of Iain MacHarg on the Highland bagpipes, Irish flute, and tin whistle, Ellery Klein on the fiddle and vocals, Aron Garceau on guitars, mandolin, and vocals, Eric Garland on bass and vocals, and Sam Hooker on drums, percussion, and every once in a while, trombone. They recorded only two albums at Egan Media Productions; Hell's Brook, and Time Well Spent. The group lasted only 3 years before disbanding. Garceau and MacHarg went on to form Prydein.

Search Add 2 The California Feet Warmers Lovers of ragtime, stompy blues and hot jazz, The California Feetwarmers are renowned for an earthy depth of character that sets them apart from others who have followed that throwback path to New Orleans, Circa 1920. Their boisterous on-stage presence is solidly underpinned by playing that is as close to the source as it can be. This is the band that Keb’ Mo’ sought out to provide an air of authenticity when he recorded his latest album, BluesAmericana. The collaboration won them a Grammy-nomination in the Best American Roots Performance category. Based in Los Angeles, they stylishly cultivate and re-work old classics, re-visiting material from The Blue Ridge Playboys, Scott Joplin, The Memphis Jugband and Emile Grimshaw’s Rag Pickers. When Keb’ Mo’ grabbed them to provide the right feel for the track that has won them so much attention, he did so as he wanted it to be “a joyous thing – a party,” he told The Wall Street Journal in a recent interview. …Now couldn’t we all do with a bit of that in our lives right now! Search Add 2 The New Weather Machine Hailing from the prairies of southern Alberta, Canada, The New Weather Machine is a four-piece indie/alternative rock band led by singer, songwriter, and lead guitar player Jon Martin. The band’s sound combines jangly guitars, concise guitar leads, analogue synthesizers, and big drums to evoke the spirit of mid-70s coastal rock and early 90s alternative. Jon brings a wealth of studio mastery and experience gained from producing rock, country, classical, and indie records for other artists to explore the potential of the modern studio, while maintaining an organic approach to performance and sound creation. The band was formed as Jon’s studio project in 2008, releasing their eponymous debut album in 2009. Performed extensively across western Canada, they released the November ’09 Basement Demos EP in 2009, and the November Basement Demos 2010 EP in 2010. The band went on hiatus in 2014 while Jon focused on electroacoustic composition and completed his Master of Music degree. The sophomore album, Seas of Dawn – released September 15th, 2017 – features legendary studio drummer Kenny Aronoff and was produced by Jon Martin. The band is currently working on the follow-up record, Nothing Comes Between Us (to be released early 2018).

Originally formed in 1964 under the name The Rising Sons with lineup of Ron Canning (lead and rhythm guitar, vocals), Mike Kotur (lead and rhythm guitar, vocals), Pete Davidson (organ, vocals), Dave Best (bass), and Robin McMillan (drums). After a successful show at McMillan's father's Ford dealership in the summer of 1965 they were signed by [l=Columbia Records Of Canada, Ltd.] In 1966 they changed names to The 5 Rising Sons to avoid confusion with a U.S. band of the same name. In 1968 the band changed labels from Columbia to [l=Yorkville], who had them change their name to The Willapuss Wallapuss.
