Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Igor Do'urden Szabolcs Makk Techno artist from Sopron, Hungary. He started dealing with music in 1989. First he was only attracted to instrumental music, played the drums in amateur bands, while training in a jazz school as well. Electronic music burst into his life in the nineties, prompting him to DJ in 96, playing at smaller clubs in the first couple years. In the meantime he joined [l=Deadcode] Productions, the promoters of "Hyperspace" festival. Later, he became partner in studio with artists like [a=Hot X] and [a=Jay Cortez] for a long time. Beside the asymmetric techno, he was into the more minimal stuff as well, with the name [a=Reecoba]. After retiring from DJing and nightlife, he founded a family and works as a teacher in a primary school. Returning to social media, in 2015 he founded a metal band called [a=Igor'Z], where he is the drummer.

Search Add 2 Caetano Brasil Fruit of the mixture of countless influences, including jazz, Eastern folk music, Latin rhythms, all linked by choro music (typical Brazilian genre), the debut album “Caetano Brasil” is the result of a careful work the musician has been developing in the last few years. Clarinetist and saxophonist, in addition to be a composer, arranger, and music producer, Caetano Brasil stands out for the huge difference between his low age and his impressively mature musical conception. This cd outlines the production of a contemporary language, atempt to a universal tendency of not being stuck to any of your references, something people use to call worldmusic. Caetano even supports the neologism “woldchoro”, since in this school the most frequent source of his inspirations becomes clear. From a non-musicians family, he started studying practically by himself. He was 12 years old when he tried a clarinet for the first time and soon he was 15, he became a member of Clube do Choro de Juiz de Fora, where he dialogued naturally to more experienced musicians. Brasil shared the stage with important MPB (abbreviation for Popular Brazilian Music) and jazz local names and, by that time, he was admitted to Bituca – Universidade de Música Popular de Barbacena, to study saxophone. Nowadays, Caetano Brasil has a reliable curriculum, listing shows on great Brazilian stages, like Cine Theatro Central (Juiz de Fora, MG), Teatro São Pedro (Porto Alegre, RS), and Auditório Ibirapuera (São Paulo, SP). Important festivals are also in this set. ViJazz Festival (Viçosa, MG), Câmbio-S (Belo Horizonte, MG) and Ibitipoca Jazz Festival (Conceição do Ibitipoca, MG) are just some examples. The horn player has been showing the same skills in studios. He became a reference on wind instruments recording lots of cds accompaning singers and instrumentalists. Soprano, alto, and tenor saxophones; clarinet, Eb clarinet, and bass clarinet; even flute and piccolo form a complete set, that fits in any situation. Travelling to recording sessions all over his country, Caetano's performances are registered with the Turkish guitar player Chadas Ustuntas and the Brazilians Yamandu Costa, the piano player Cristóvão Bastos, among others. Recognized for his wide knowledge, he wrote arrangements to several kinds of ensembles, since brass trios to complete bands. The album "Ponto do Samba”, joining many samba artists of contemporary scene in Juiz de Fora, is a sample of this musician feature. Also in studios he works as a music producer, guiding professionals with a focused and refined approach. Caetano is behind Cacáudio's, Roger Resende and Juliana Stanzani's projects, all of them representatives of New Brazilian Popular Music. In 2014, he made a personal challege named “Um ano, 100 músicas”. In this venture, the clarinetist proposed himself to compose 100 original tunes inside choro music universe, intenting a deep techinical exploration of criative possibilities on this genre. The result was a varied repertoire, consequence of researches the musician uses to do about the most thoughtless artistic manifestations around the globe. Trademarks of his works are sophisticated harmonies and unconventional metrics, like the choro “Coca, Gelo e Limão” and the polkas “Travessa” and “Assimétrica”, that has a 15 beats bar. Caetano Brasil is now promoting his first album, that is “Caetano Brasil & Grupo's” business card. He is sided by Adalberto Silva (bass), Gladston Vieira (drums), Guilherme Veroneze (piano), and Rick Vargas (percussion). Caetano is also on national tour with Grupo Ponto de Partida, on musical theater plays “Presente de Vô”, “Mineiramente” , and “Ser Minas, tão Gerais”, this last one has the participation of Milton Nascimento. Along it, he has been presenting with Dudu Lima Trio, Roger Resende, Lúdica Música, and many other groups. Wherever he plays the number of followers has been icreased, what just reiterates the good impressions demonstrated about who has been rising as one of the main instrumentalists from Brazil.

Search Add 2 Faton Faton was the band created in 1993 by Francois ‘Faton' Cahen. This was the first band led by Cahen in which he would solely assume the whole responsibility of music and the musical direction. The first line-up comprised Cahen himself on piano, Patrick Tillman (violin), Claire Gillet (contrabass), Charly Doll (drums) and Philippe Makaïa (percussions). The same year, François Cahen was also invited to reform [a=Zao (3)], and Patrick Tillman, was a natural inclusion in this band too. But this reformation of Zao was only meant as a temporary studio project and Cahen’s priority was for his band Faton. After several concerts and rehearsals, they released a 4-track CD in 1997. In 1999 the band toured heavily in France with a restructured line-up : Claire Gillet, Patrick Tillman and Philippe Makaïa left, replaced respectively by Thierry Colson, Nicolas Krassik and Olivier Bonny. Their first full length album was released in 2000 and another tour planned this year. For this tour, François Cahen decided to hire new musicians (only Charly Doll remained) as he was unsatisfied with the previous members of the band : “they were ‘jazzmen’, and they fell in the jazz cliché of showing how good they could play, it wasn’t me nor my music anymore”. The new line-up lasted until 2002 and recorded one live album. In 2003, François Cahen reunited with Yochk’o Seffer in Ethnic Trio and together they accepted an offer from [a=Hiroshi Masuda] (Poseidon Productions) to reactivate Zao again for a tour in Japan. That was the start of several new collaborations between the old friends, and the definitive end of [a=Faton].

Search Add 2 Halfsilks Halfsilks is the result of bassist/ vocalist Karen (of Gym Tonic, The Anna Thompsons, Canyon Spree) and drummer/ vocalist Jana (of Point No Point, Soft Grid, Dropout Patrol) dragging synth player Marcia into the rehearsal room to find out what their shared musical influences from 60s girl groups to post-punk could convey. Initially more of a loose project, Halfsilks quickly became an actual band as the members’ professional and musical lives came to a halt over the last months. Instead they turned to writing synth-driven, angular pop songs about horses, outdated technologies and female role-models and recorded a first demo.

Search Add 2 The Trey J's The Trey J’s were a vocal duo which featured James Binford and Joseph Smith. James Binford originally from Indianapolis, Indiana began singing in various local Doo-Wop and church ensembles from the age of 9. Something he continued to do after enlisting in the Marine Corps as a 17 year old, often performing in Officers clubs where he was stationed. He also ventured out of camp to perform in local clubs, building a solid reputation as a performer. While stationed in Albany, Georgia James was introduced by his then wife to one of her relatives Mr Eddie Harris, the band leader of one of Alanta’s most popular acts, the Eddie Harris Review. Following his release from the Marine Corps James took a job with International Harvester in his native Indianapolis before being transferred to the Macdonald Douglas Aeronautical Engineering Company in Atlanta. Here he once again hooked up with Eddie Harris working as a backing singer as part of his Review. James later had aspirations of forming his own ensemble so under the guidance of his manager Johnny Glover, James, began to form his own review. In 1968 James and Johnny held an audition for a baritone vocalist through a local radio station. From a 150 hopeful applicant’s a 28year old Detroiter by the name of Joseph Smith was chosen. Joseph who had previously moved to Atlanta some 10 years earlier where he had married his first wife Jacklyn and raised a family of 3 children. Thus with the addition of Joseph the Trey J’s were born, their name being taken from the Americanization “Trey” a derivative of the French word for the number three “Tres” and the first initial of James and Joseph and their late manager Johnny Glover’s christian names, hence Three J’s equals the “Trey J’s”. By the early 1970’s The Trey J’s had become regular performers at Atlanta’s most infamous Black night club ‘The Pink Pussy Cat’. It was while performing at the Pink Pussy Cat that the Trey J’s came into contact with a local record producer by the name of Thomas Fletcher Davis more commonly known as Tee Fletcher. Tee a successful recording artist in his own right with a string of recording for several labels such as Josie, Shurfine, and Tragar had begun his own production company Tee Gem Records.

Search Add 2 Jayson Butera Jason Butera Orlando native Jayson Butera established himself in the Underground Dance scene by mixing a variety of Progressive House, Trance and Nu Skool Breaks. Jayson career began in the mid 90’s by working at local record shop in Orlando. From that point his love for electronic music progressed and turned into a deep rooted obsession. After receiving his first residency at Daytona nightclub Sol-Rays in early ‘98, it seemed like it wasn’t much longer before he found himself playing just about every nightclub in Central Florida. Around this time, he met up with DJ Trancelott of Trancedomain.com, a weekly internet DJ Broadcast featuring DJ’s from around the globe. He soon became a resident of the show, and went on to play alongside Trancelott for many guest spots throughout Florida and the US. By 2000, Jayson began his first Orlando residency at the legendary Club @ Firestone. With this new success, he joined forces with 720e and their weekly show, Kompression. Here, playing alongside moguls such as Vicious Vic, Noel Sanger, Chris Fortier, DJ Trancelott, and many others, where he established his own style and sound. By New Years Eve 2001, Jayson marked another career milestone in the International spotlight as he played Calgary, Canada. Soon after returning, he headlined one of the biggest parties of his DJ career in Panama City, Panama. On his return to the United States, he continued to progress his Orlando residency and has had local radio appearances on 93.9 Dance and 91.5 WPRK. His resume includes several internet radio stations from Breaks FM to Pulse Radio, Bijou Breaks, Eccentric Beats and more. In late 2005, Jayson competed in John Digweed and Future Music’s “The Next Big Thing” DJ contest, in which Jayson was a top finalist. He also received a top 3 finish in Mercury Server’s first annual DJ competition. From there, He, with the help of Mercury Session, founded his own featured radio show called “Beyond Boundaries”, airing every other Friday at 4:00 pm EST on NSB Radio and Digital Intelligence on Digitally Imported every other Tuesday at 12:00 PM EST. These days Jayson Butera occupies a DJ residency at Suite B in Downtown Orlando and other guest spots. He continues to move Orlando with his dark Progressive House, Trance and Progressive Breaks.
