Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 2 | Merle "Red" Scobee | Merle Nicholas Scobee was an adept five-string banjo player, born in Adair, Missouri on June 6, 1907. He led a hillbilly band called Red And His Arkansas Rangers, which included his brother Ray (“Zip”) and Art Brier (“Shorty”). The three played together for years on the Warner Brothers and Fox Circuits before landing work in the 1930s on WHO Radio in Des Moines, Iowa. In the late 30s, the group added two more members, the Rash Twins (Sally and Buck), and according to a Souvenir Program for the WHO Barn Dance Frolic, the group would “bewilder” folks as they switched from banjos to violins to guitars. He is credited as an on-screen musician in two Tex Ritter films, Starlight Over Texas (1938) and Down the Wyoming Trail (1939). Scobee continued his career with WHO as it added television broadcasts in the 1950s. He was a part of The Buckaroos music group, led by fiddler Slim Hayes. In the 1960s, he authored a 2-volume banjo instruction book called Picture Chords for Bluegrass Banjo, published by Pacific Coast Music. He also ran a music store in Des Moines called “Red Scobee’s, the Banjo Center of Iowa” (Billboard, 01 July 1967, p. WS-50). Red Scobee died in Putnam, Missouri on September 26, 1973.

Search | Add | 2 | Herbert Elwell | Herbert Elwell (May 10, 1898 - April 17, 1974) was an American composer and music critic. A native of Minneapolis, he was among the first Americans to study in France with Nadia Boulanger. While in Paris his Quintet for Piano and Strings (1924) garnered more praise than George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, which was premiered at the same concert. He began his studies in music at the University of Minnesota, and went on to work with Ernest Bloch prior to his sojourn in France. He also attended the American Academy in Rome during which time he composed his most frequently performed work, the ballet The Happy Hypocrite (1925). In 1928 Elwell moved to Cleveland, Ohio to join the composition and music theory faculty at the Cleveland Institute of Music where he remained until 1945. He later taught at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music for nine years and spent summers teaching at the Eastman School of Music. Some of his notable pupils include Bain Murray, Walter Aschaffenburg, and Howard Whittaker. He also served as the music critic for The Plain Dealer for 32 years. As a composer, Elwell wrote a considerable body of chamber music and vocal music. Many of his vocal pieces were written for soprano Marie Simmelink Kraft. He also composed a number of orchestral works which were extolled by such conductors as Artur Rodzinski, Leopold Stokowski, William Steinberg and Howard Hanson. In 1961 he was awarded the first Cleveland Arts Prize for Music. His other accolades include the Paderewski Prize, the Marjorie Peabody Waite Award from the National Institute of Arts and Letters, and honorary doctorates from the University of Rochester and Western Reserve University.

Heavy processing of the photographic material, up to total abstraction. Lots of references to gay culture. Became more prominent from 1986 due to his participation in the International Photoscene Cologne. Lots of exhibitions, purchases by museums. From 1990 on, more "straight" (in the sense of "not heavily processed") photos, mostly nudes, and portraits in black and white. He became ill with AIDS in 1989.

Search | Add | 2 | Nego Blue Da Ilha | José Luís Rodrigues | Brazilian singer and songwriter, born in Curitiba, Paraná. He told his mother that he was going to spend the weekend on the coast with friends and that he would be back on Monday. It stayed a year. "I felt like Robinson Crusoe himself. I saw all that bush and I went crazy. This is where I belong, I thought." To ease her mother's suffering, Blue sent letters. He just wasn't sure how to fill in the return address. After all, he slept where he could. One of the favorite stops was the abandoned Navy post, next to the lighthouse. "It was a nice shack. It just leaned to the side. It was kind of a Batman cave." One day, Blue returned to the mainland to go shopping and found her mother at the warehouse in Pontal. She had notified the police and the judge, and she was already getting on the boat to go after her son. Blue returned to the capital. He studied until the seventh grade and started to make the Curitiba-Ilha script frequently. He became friends with fishermen and residents, left the Navy post and started sleeping at the house of acquaintances. Grandmother Maria, one of those who most assured landing, got music, played until today. The first stops were in Brasília. Enchanted, at the time, was a mystery. "It was a jungle. It was hard to get there." One day, Blue decided to take a chance. He walked for almost three hours and discovered that in Encantadas there were also fishermen. He liked it, and as usual, stayed for several months. Music became more frequent on the grotto side than on the lighthouse side. The people from Brasília demanded Nego, after all, had stopped there first and couldn't just change sides. With diplomacy and a full agenda, the issue was overcome. "I currently do shows on both sides. I'm not from Brasília or Encantadas. I'm Nego from Ilha do Mel." The singer, who is popular today, lived his early days away from maternal protection, giving guitar lessons, doing occasional fishing and "any kind of work that came up". On the mainland he had so many jobs he doesn't even remember. "I've been a mechanic, a store salesman, a tire repairman. A lot of bad jobs." In the meantime, Blue was already doing small shows on the island and on the coast. He didn't let go of the guitar. He practiced grips and strokes. One day, he spent the afternoon playing on the rocks of Praia Brava de Matinhos. He gathered a lot of people to see it. Blue made a sequel worthy of Muddy Waters (musician considered the father of the Chicago Blues). That's when Polaco, an experienced guitarist from Curitiba's nightlife, released the phrase. "It's a Nego Blue." Ready. The nickname stuck. He was taken to Curitiba. He performed at the old Tetro Universitário in Curitiba and also made friends, among them the rockers Blindagem. "They supported my first album", says he, who has already recorded two CDs. He even sang in Pará, where he played for months in exchange for bed and food. Blue only got more homely when he got married. The woman in his life, who would he say, was next to his mother's house. "I would come home from the party and always find that beautiful brunette leaving for work." In fact married. He has five children and lives only on music. He lives in Curitiba, but spends the season in Ilha do Mel, playing from Monday to Monday. He has among his admirers members of bands like Djambi and Capital Inicial. Flávio, bassist for Capital, was following Nego's performance in a bar in Vila Brasília, two weeks ago. "We always make a sound. But it never works. We end up just drinking," says Nego Blue, the pop star from Ilha do Mel. Search | Add | 2 | Mildred Harrison | Mildred was the first Black American woman "imprisoned" in Vietnam. She went to Vietnam in 1966 to entertain USA troops with her husband Eddie O'Neils's blessing. In Saigon she stayed in a villa operated by George Albrecht, of the World Wide Talent Agency, with other entertainers. She did shows for the 3rd Field and 17th Field Hospitals. She also went to DaNang with only six more days left in Vietnam. She was detained on the 26th December until the 5th February when a Customs agent came to her villa and brought her passport, with news the `charges and fines had been reduced'." George took care of everything and finally she was on her way back to the US. She was not a POW in the strict sense of the word she was indeed imprisoned wrongfully in a country the US was helping to defend!

Search | Add | 2 | Ed Toler | Ed was a figure in Kansas City's music scene for more than 30 years. Widely known as "Big Ed" (other nicknames included the Mighty Tor-el, the Ayatollah of Funk and the Evil Scoutmaster), the towering guitarist and bass player was a lifelong K.C. resident. After being bounced from both Pembroke Country Day School and an eastern military school (Ed was a master of the inappropriate practical joke), he finally received a diploma from Southwest High School and launched a career as a professional musician, playing guitar in a number of local bands (the Reamin' Demons, the Sensations, the Secretions and the Emeralds) and touring the country with the Whitney Singers, an African American gospel group. His longest gig was with the Bon Ton Soul Accordion Band. Ed made a half-dozen albums with the band. Though he was a familiar figure on the city's bandstands and behind the scenes (he was the founder and manager of the Rubber Maids, an all-woman band, and SDI: Strategic Dance Initiative), Ed was also an educator. For more than 20 years, he gave guitar lessons in his home, training numerous local players.
