Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Salvation Alley String Band Salvation Alley Hailing from Northampton, Massachusetts the Salvation Alley play original Country music. Incorporating elements of Western Swing, Bakersfield, and Outlaw country spanning from the 1940’s – 1970’s. They have made many stages around New England their home, and are as comfortable at a dive bar as they are playing a festival (FreshGrass/Green River Fest) or opening for country legends (George Jones). Ryan Quinn (guitar/vocals) has a unique songwriting approach, matching lush & tender melodies with post-apocalyptic and at times self deprecating lyrics. Matt Silberstein (Bass) & Matt Jugenheimer (Drums) always lay down a solid backbeat, and as of 2017 Annika Amstutz (fiddle) has joined the lineup. She adds precise fiddle lines that float atop the music, like a heavenly angel. Sal Al (if you’re into brevity) is currently working on their 4th album for Rub Wrongways Records entitled “Winning Hearts And Minds”.

Search Add 2 BillyD Pantelis Drousiotis Pantelis Drousiotis was born in 1992 in Nicosia/Cyprus. From the first years of his life, music had already been a big part of himself, beginning as a drummer. Then at his 17 he met and loved Electronic Dance Music and now is a DJ with the name Billy D. In general, electronic music and many dark sounds, basslines crossing each other and spastic hi-hats are the main characteristics of Billy's music. He also organises his own events as the main manager of WeeDo_It Broadcast channel on ustream.tv. Billy performed in various bars and clubs in Cyprus and UK such as: Klubd Nicosia, Svoura Bar Nicosia, Square Bar Nicosia, Silly Bar Larnaca, Ammos beach bar larnaca, Cuban Exchange Wolverhampton, Walkabout Wolverhampton, Quadrant Lounce and Panacea Manchester. Also worked as a sound engineer and DJ at radio deejay cyprus. Billy D now is studying Music Technology at the University of Wolverhampton in United Kingdom in order to maximize his knowledge about music production and live sound engineering. With the name Billy D, wanted to keep his mind open, more experimental and unique is the sound of his productions.

Search Add 2 Ivis Flies The Quito-born Ivis Flies has been sailing for twenty years through the seas of music. Through them he has traveled to the continents of rock, folklore, jazz, funk and other genres. "After all this time I think I can reaffirm my conviction to work for music with identity, which is what I've been doing all my life," the singer-songwriter said by telephone during an interview with this newspaper. His current musical production is focused on a set of six folklore records, to give back to the Ecuadorian teachers of this genre and to promote the culture and sounds of this country. Flies has not been restricted in his profession. He has been the voice in a series of groups, one of the most popular La Grupa (1998), which among other recognitions won the best international band award at the FIMU (International University Music Festival) 2006, in Belfort, France. "It's a band with which it was very difficult for us to enter the media, to the people; We started making Ecuadorian music at a time when that music was frowned upon, "Flies says. He adds that although it was not a very commercial band, he and his companions managed, with the affection of the people, to be very dear, respected. "The rump has not been finished," he adds. Flies says that the reason for not having generated anything new at some time is due to personal complications of the members, not to the desire to return to do folklore mixed with what comes to mind. The adrenaline of being on stage, remember, connect with people, flow with what your instinct dictates is an amalgam that attracts you a lot. He also likes his role as a producer, to be like the director of a film handling that spark that makes his thoughts explode in reality. "Working on the concept, working on the idea, developing the talent of the artists is something that I absolutely love," he says. But after two decades he can not say that he has a favorite production, he keeps the experiences, the growth, the experiences and endearing friends that each of them has given him. The commercial peak, he adds, or fame can also be an index that people are reacting to a product, but their satisfaction arises when they know that their work has had real value both musical and human. Flies, father "ordinary" of three children and a lover of cinema, swimming and gardening, notes a growth in the industry of Ecuador. And although disorganization is one of the biggest problems, he says, he is optimistic. "What is done in Ecuador is a job that can compete with an international market. I think we are about to burst like a country of music, of talent ". Flies along with Danilo Arroyo are betting on Maki, an artist of "urban wave" native of Macas who opened in March the concert that Calle 13 and Manu Chao offered in the capital. He also works in the discography of the national Gustavo Herrera and the Biorn Borg group. His family has been the main support and strength for the Quito to complete his projects. "When the family is united, everything starts to work better," he says. With it he has planned, in a month or so, to travel to Los Angeles, where there is a great musical machinery that will be used to reinforce the Latin, to introduce the national in a more powerful market. "I believe that there are the tools, the industry; there are bonuses, it's something to go and propose something to try to be better ". When he puts on his headphones, he hears everything, as long as it is well done, but confesses to being a fan of "the Ecuadorian movida". To the crazy people who conform it tells them not to forget to create and compose, it is the true strength of the musician, according to the Flies philosophy. He will also continue in his own, he says, with a lot of responsibility. And even better if it's on the seashore. His career Ivis Flies began his musical studies in 1991. He joined bands like Punto Aparte, Carbono 14 and Contravía. In the nineties he also participated in several jazz groups.

Search Add 2 Bentham the Band Bentham is the musical alter ego of Ben Paulos, a Bay Area singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. After the usual trumpet in the school band, picking up guitar in high school, then jazz, Balkan and West African music in college, his first major band was Laughing Academy, in Boston, circa 1988-1993. That was an art rock trio plus singer that recorded three albums (but released one and a half), played New England and New York clubs, and garnered national airplay before folding. Laughing Academy members went on to play in Sugar, the Willard Grant Conspiracy, and Transmissionary Six. Bentham was launched in Boston, then continued in Madison, Wisconsin in the late 1990s, in a lineup featuring Ken Keeley, John Driscoll, and Rick Cavalieri. It moved to San Francisco, where the three album releases were finished and released: The Mauve Decade, Miss Wisconsin, and Pacific.

Search Add 2 Nachtamt Hans Versteeg It’s all about versatility and mood for dutch DJ and producer Nachtamt. Genre comes second place to the desires of bringing ideas into actuality and his contrast of electronic styles affirms this. The music is one aspect, sound the other. Both are equally important in the creative process. His tracks are sometimes intended to portray an opinion or some dissatisfaction at the world. However, Nachtamt more often lets his ideas flow from an ambiguous creative torrent, giving the listener freedom to interpret his crafted palette of sounds and their use to conjure their own aural impressions in the mind. His musical journey begins in the early eighties. Captivated by the electronic elements and grooves of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” album and the synth sounds from the likes of Eurythmics and New Order, a youthful Hans Versteeg develops his interest and love for electronic music. And while piano lessons at an early age enhance his understanding of melody and structure, he begins also to appreciate a broader spectrum of music genres. In particular, he gets into the tougher sounds of early nineties US rap and the intensities and pace of the dutch techno scene. It is at Rotterdam’s infamous Parkzicht however, where his passion for house and techno is truly ignited and his burning desire to create his own tracks is forged. Countless weekends spent at the club listening assiduously and getting down to DJs Rob, Ludie, Ricky da Dragon and Stanton inspires Nachtamt and within a short period of time he gets his first residency at “Twilight” - a night at the club. The release of “Blue Sky” (Twilight Records) by DD Zion, who are colleagues at the club, convince him to get producing and creating. Production techniques at that point in time, are a little different to his methods used today, in that his early material is created on a Commodore Amiga and an old PC using Fasttracker - a sample based sequencing program. Nachtamt continues to use Fasttracker to produce music for over a decade while continuing his DJing around Rotterdam. In 2013, after a change of production software and equipment, he logs onto Estroe’s electronic music advice site, www.estroe-advice.com and starts the latest chapter of his story. During the first session with Estroe, Nachtamt breaks through the compositional barriers and editing limitations of Fasttracker and explores rejuvenated freedoms with his new setup. With that change comes a deluge of fresh ideas for Nachtamt. Estroe picks up on his creative talent and after a few more sessions it’s agreed that he should release an ep on Estroe’s “Rosedale Records”. His “Enhanced Awareness” ep (ROSE010) is out on December 7th 2015. And so begins the future for Nachtamt. 2016 and onwards looks bright for the journey ahead. Music, as always, plays a huge part in his life and will continue to do so.

Search Add 2 KastningSiegfried The KastningSiegfried Duet Project was formed in 1990, and is an ongoing artistic collaborative between [a4968562] and Siegfried, a guitarist and composer based in Portland, Maine. The KastningSiegfried compositions are written in open score, but are performed and recorded by us for acoustic guitar duets. Compositionally, the works fall into one of three basic categories: pieces composed by Siegfried, pieces composed by me, and pieces collaborated upon and composed by us both. The music defies easy categorization. Instrumentation consists of Siegfried on acoustic 6-string guitar, and me on 6- and 12-string acoustic guitars, extended baritone guitar, 12-string extended baritone guitar, classical guitar, fretless classical guitar, and mandolin. The Binary Forms pieces tend to be extended compositions. The Binary Forms series (currently a set of 11 compositions) employ a compositional technique wherein one of us will compose one voice (the score being laid out in a two-voice system), either Voice I or Voice II. The completed single-voice score is given to the other person, who then composes the part of the unfinished voice. Usually, no predetermined guidelines have been specified for the unfinished voice, but there have been pieces wherein the first person has specified certain harmonic or structural elements as a kind of palette for the second person to use when composing their part. This compositional method has produced some very unique pieces.
