Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 29/07/2025

Found 602638 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 9 Dr. Revolt Graffiti artist, painter, designer. Dr. Revolt began his practice in 1977 as an original member of the historic New York City graffiti crew, The Rolling Thunder Writers (RTW). In addition to designing several t-shirts, album covers, & logo work for various artists including: THE FUN LOVIN' CRIMINALS, THE BLACK CROWS, CAMP LOW, GRANDMASTER FLASH, SLY-n-ROBIE'S TAXI DJ. LINK, SKARhead, etc. ... etc. & creating the classic "YO! MTV Raps' logo, his work has been, & continues to be seen in various publications & art galleries globally.

Search Add 9 Tepper-Bennett Sid Tepper and Roy C. Bennett met as young boys growing up in Brooklyn, New York. Their mutual interest in music led to a highly successful music collaboration that spanned more than twenty-five years. Between 1945 and 1970 they had close to three hundred musical compositions published. Tepper and Bennett began their career together in 1946, when they became staff song writers for Sydney Mills (of Mills Music). Their first big hit came in 1948 with 'Red Roses for a Blue Lady'. Bennett and Tepper scored big again in 1951 when Rosemary Clooney recorded their composition "Suzy Snowflake." In 1955, their 1954 composition of "Naughty Lady of Shady Lane" was a top-10 hit for both Dean Martin and the Ames Brothers. After three years with Mills Music, the duo decided to become freelance artists, and their successes eventually caught the attention of Elvis Presley's people. Tepper & Bennett wrote 45 compositions for Elvis' albums and movies, and is quite possibly their greatest legacy to the world of music. In 2002, Roy Bennett and Sid Tepper were honored at ceremonies in Memphis, TN by Lisa Marie Presley for their contribution to her father's success. They were also honored for having written a large portion of the album Blue Hawaii, which is widely considered by Elvis fans to be his best album. Other successful artists who recorded Bennett & Tepper songs include The Beatles, Perry Como, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Robert Goulet, Dinah Shore, Burl Ives, Eartha Kitt, Les Paul & Mary Ford, Frank Sinatra, Cliff Richard, Duke Ellington, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Marty Robbins, the Ames Brothers, Jo Stafford, Wayne Newton, and Sarah Vaughn.

Search Add 9 Nickk Dropkick Nickk Dropkick is a Canadian-American experimental, avant garde, and industrial musician and producer. He gained significance in the early 2010s for pioneering the sea-punk cyber genre variant "slimepunk", and in being an producer of witch house music. In addition to working in cyber genres, Nickk Dropkick has worked with and produced music within the industrial music scene, and is an avid jazz producer. Nickk Dropkick gained his first measure of mainstream success within the Canadian industrial metal band "Death Cartel" (signed with Writ in Water Sound Creations, and based in Kitchener, Ontario). From 2008 to 2012 Dropkick was the bassist and occasional lyricist of the band, and gained exposure within the North American and European industrial music scene, touring and opening for bands on the continent and visiting from Europe. In 2010 Dropkick formed the independent side project "N3rgul", where he began to experiment in electronic music and from the industrial music scene, aid in the development of the growing witch house music genre. On witch house music and according to Dropkick on his Rave Leviathan album- "You know that scene in Blade I, where they're in that vampire club and all of a sudden it goes into slow motion and there's a spray of blood pouring from the ceiling? I wanted to make music like that, just heavy, slow, pulsating, and vicious". In keeping within the transgressive industrial spirit and the avant-garde nature of his works he would later be known by, N3rgul's influences and works spanned a range of genres. With the explosion of cyber genres and internet subcultures in the early 2010s, Dropkick would begin production of his own independent variation within the slime punk genre- focusing on a dirtier, wetter, and more bass sounding genre with ties to earlier acid house. According to Dropkick, the genre is meant to be similar in satirization to vaporwave. Whereas vaporwave focuses on re-imagining capitalism and society through an alternate lens in the 1980s, Slimepunk seeks to reimagine the "trashier" aspects of pop culture from the early 2000s- with a slimer variation on seapunk fashion, nickelodeon decals, and imagery and sounds which ooze. Following his leaving the band Death Cartel in 2012, Dropkick began working on a project with fellow noise and hip-hop artist Ripdae la Wise, called "Plebs & Fuckboys". Released via Spettro Rec, the music featured in Plebs & Fuckboys would blend spoken word, hip hop, industrial, rythmic noise, and techno. All artwork for the projects first six albums were created by Dropkick within his "transgressive style".On the artwork, Dropkick claimed to want to "create imagery which made sacred the profane, and profane the sacrosanct". In 2015 Dropkick would return to metal based music with the industrial-black metal project "Vamacara". In this time period he would also begin experimentation with Jazz music and begin making music under the name Nurgul Jones. A significant work produced by Dropkick in this time was his "Co)))ltrane"- a blend of Sunn O))) and John Coltrane, which would help bring attention to and interest in the dark jazz genre of music within internet subcultures. Of Dropkick's music as Nurgul Jones, the works produced under the moniker remain experimental and often blend the skewed music witch house, memphis rap, industrial metal, neo-folk, dark-jazz within his experimental standard. Under Nurgul Jones, Dropkick has created artwork and propaganda for the Order of the Nine Angels and album art for several noise musicians, including Enbilulugugal. Dropkick has produced music while living in Canada, the United States, and South Korea. As per Plebs & Fuckboys, Dropkick is also a versatile artist specializing in transgressive art.

A self-taught banjo player, Schmertz became an influential writer of folk songs, many focused on early Pittsburgh lore. His song "Noah Found Grace in the Eyes of the Lord" was recorded by [a=Burl Ives], [a=Tennessee Ernie Ford], the [a=Statler Brothers], [a=Bruce Low], and [a=Gary Crosby]. His song "Monongahela Sal" was covered by [a=Pete Seeger]. As a student, Schmertz also wrote the Carnegie Tartans' fight song, "Fight for the Glory of Carnegie." Schmertz himself only began recording in 1949 when family and friends bought him time in a local recording studio. Only 300 copies of the resulting 78rpm album, "Songs by Robert Schmertz," were produced, but they helped to spread his reputation as the "Stephen Foster of Pittsburgh." In 1955, Schmertz released a second album, "Robert Schmertz Sings His Songs," this time on LP. Two other albums followed, "Sing Oh! the City Oh!: Songs of Early Pittsburgh" ([l=Folkways Records], 1959) and "Ladies Beware of an Architect: Songs for Architects and Their Girlfriends" (1960).

Chen Jin Lang became a nightclub singer at age 9 to supplement the family income. At 16, he released his first Hokkien album. He would go on to release 80 more in Hokkien and Mandarin in his 36-year career. Regarded as the king of Hokkien pop here, he used to be a host at least 20 getai shows and sang at about 80 during the annual Hungry Ghost Festival. He was also a bachelor, and a bankrupt. In 2004, he filed for bankruptcy after his business - producing shows for Taiwanese stars - went bust. He was jailed in 2005 for four months for leaving Singapore without permission despite being a bankrupt. He was released in March for good behaviour. Returning to entertainment, he drew 10,000 fans to two sold-out shows. He was diagnosed with fourth-stage colon cancer in 2005, but he continued to perform to pay for his medical bills. He died of colon cancer on 25 July 2006, which is coincidentally the 1st day of the seventh lunar month, believed by the Chinese as the month of the Hungry Ghost Festival.

Search Add 9 Dave Bichard Rachel James Producer, writer, multi-instrumentalist & DJ from Manchester, England. Diagnosed as transgender in 2007 and now better known as Rachel James. BIOGRAPHY – UPDATED JULY 2012 Rachel Ellektra AKA Rachel James. Musician, song-writer, producer, remixer, sound engineer, DJ and much more besides. She’s written music for and with artists like Angie Brown, Joy Malcolm and Steve Strange, produced for labels like Sony Music and Neo Records and has been recommended by the likes of Danny Tenaglia, Redanka and Eddie Gordon. Multi-instrumentalist and multi-genre producer, she is almost impossible to ‘pigeon-hole’. So who is she and how did it all begin?… Rachel started out as a musician at just 5 years old playing keyboard, violin and guitar and was already in her first rock band at 13. When the dance music bug bit her at the tender age of 15, she began DJ’ing and progressed quickly music production. With borrowed and blagged equipment, Rachel soon had the basis of a small studio set up at home and was putting demos together and sending them out to labels eventually attracting the attention of Grant Nelson. She headed to London and co-wrote a couple of tracks for Nice ‘n’ Ripe alongside Grant. Rachel went on to produce for several labels and in the late 90’s she hooked up with Eddie Gordon of Neo Records who started putting remix work her way. These mixes gained her the attention of the A-list DJ’s and several BBC Radio 1 plays for her music. In 2001 Rachel’s cunning mash-up of David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’ with DSK’s ‘What Would We Do’ got tongues wagging and dance floors moving. Aczess’ cheekily titled ‘Do What We Would picked up the attention of many a big name DJ playing it in Ibiza that summer and went on to get signed to Sony’s dance off-shoot INCredible. The track went on to be a massive club smash topping many well-known dance charts. In more recent years Rachel's label Axis Trax was born. It was initially a label to push out Rachel’s own musical doodles but it fast developed into a magnet for fabulous, undiscovered as well as well-established dance artists. The label though started on a zero budget soon attracted a large fan base celebrated it’s 1st birthday with a big bash at Ministry of Sound, London. Month on month Axis Trax grew and so did Rachel’s reputation as a producer/remixer. Over the past 3 years she has remixed for a host of artists including Jessie J, Black Eyed Peas, Marvin Gaye, Flash Brothers, X-Press 2, Redanka, Angelic, Amanda Wilson, Peyton, Graeme Park, Nightstylers, Mazie Williams, Joyce Sims, N-Joi, Pete Doyle, Freddy Bastone, Pepper Mashay, Rita Campbell, 7th Heaven, Banderas and Awesome 3 to name a few. Rachel is currently working on new projects with Blue Amazon and also co-writing and producing her debut album under her guise of Avro. RECENT INDUSTRY COMMENTS ON RACHEL... “Rachel, you are DA BOMB!” (Sterling Void) “You can clearly turn your hand to anything and produce quality.” (Lee Softly aka Blue Amazon) “You are truly multi-talented! Where have you been all my life?” (Andy Holt aka Redanka/Tarantella/DATAR) "I've a lot of time for Rachel and admire her hugely!" (Andy Wetson - Almighty/7th Heaven) "What can we say about Rachel’s mixes except A+!" (K-Klass) "I love your work!" (Kenny Thomas) "Rachel, are you related to King Midas? Everything you touch currently turns to gold!" (Jules Little - Global Dancefloor Radio show) "Rachel, I literally cried when I heard 'Halo'! It sounds AMAZING! Best thing I've ever heard myself on!" (Colin Waterson) "Been loving your 'Stella' remix! Playing it pretty much every gig! Really good job!!" (Jody Wisternoff - Way Out West) "Keep on trucking luv, you are doing well!" (James Blond) "I really do love what you're doing!" (Pete Doyle, Defected/Daddy Funk) "That Marvin Gaye remix... I think it's stunning!" (Robert De Fresnes) "Great work! Keep them coming Rachel!" (Danny Rampling) "I love everything that Rachel does!!" (Brandon Block). "Champion want to sign 'Replay' as our follow up single! So much is down to you, so thank you again for doing such an amazing job on engineering and co-production!" (Jason Gardiner - White Knights, Champion Records). "Rachel is a great producer/remixer!" (Peyton - Hed Kandi/Fierce Angel/Strictly Rhythm). "I think Rachel is very talented." (Joyce Sims - Singer/songwriter). "With your multi, multi-talent, and my vocals we could be really good!" (Angie Brown).

Based in the Canadian province of Alberta, they played thousands of weddings, dances, anniversaries, and house parties. They ceased performing in the late 1960s, when Bill relocated to the province of British Columbia. The group recorded over 102 original Ukrainian selections: fifteen 78 rpm records, two 45 rpm records, and five LP records on the Stinson, Arrex, DSF, Heritage, and V-Records labels. Some selections featured a full band and others reverted to the traditional instrumentation for a village wedding band: violin, tsymbaly, and drum. The band's 1955 recording of "The Early Bird of Spring" was used for many years as the theme song for CFCW Radio's Ukrainian Hour program (based in the city of Edmonton, Alberta).

Search Add 9 Simões Da Hora Joaquim Simões da Hora Portuguese organist, producer and recording supervisor for classical releases. Joaquim Simões da Hora (1941-1996) stood out in the last quarter of the 20th century as the greatest Portuguese performer of Iberian Early Music for organ. In this respect his qualities as a performer came to be known in various European countries and even in the United States of America. Working within the ‘new’ Early Music current that arose in the second half of the 20th century, he was one of a generation of performers whose interpretations were founded on the use of historical techniques andinstruments, such as Jordi Savall, Ton Koopman and José Luís Uriol. His performances were recorded in four albums, which demonstrate his considerable capacities as a performer. Joaquim Simões da Hora’s professional activity also extended to the domain of pedagogy, in which he reformed the organ class of the Conservatório Nacional, where he taught between 1977 and 1995. In addition to his activities as performer and teacher, throughout his career he was deeply involved in publicising the heritage of Portuguese music, especially in relation to the organ, as well as in producing and providing musical supervision of many of the sound recordings of classical music published in Portugal in the last three decades of the 20th century. Joaquim Simões da Hora left this world in April 1996. He remains, however, as one of the great organists of recent history. His legacy is felt in the impetus he gave to awakening the interest of young performers of Early Music for organ, in his sound recordings and in his promotion of musical life in Portugal in relation to the organ from the mid 90s onwards, through the systematic creation of music festivals for organ. in HORA, Tiago Manuel da (2010). He has dabbled in the field of alternative music, electroacoustics and homerecording since the late eighties / early nineties. He has just a little bit of "traditional training" with electric guitars, bass and accordeon, but hardly not enough to ruin a distinct personal and intuitive approach to his compositions. As well as 1/2 of the legendary project Psykopharmaka, he is responsible for the labels Addictive Pharma Muzak [APM] and Seductive Psyche Music [SPM].

Johnny states that the band's name came to him in a dream where he was told "you shall be called Three Minutes" although now Johnny jokes that the band lasted about as long. 3 Minutes toured supporting The Vapors for 24 dates and XTC for 6 dates. The group disbanded after releasing this single in 1980 on Rocket Records, XPRESS 40 "Automatic Kids"/"Future Fun" which to date was Johnny's most widespread release seeing releases in Great Britain, France, West Germany, The Netherlands and Portugal. Although 3 Minutes has disbanded after only one single the door was open at Rocket for more solo releases in 1981.

A selection of strong influences: Watching Westbam live remixing a Madonna tune using three turntables at the same time stuck to his mind. The use of real life samples and turn it into music by Depeche Mode and The Art Of Nose.
