Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024
Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 2 | Aiden Wilson Tozer | Aiden Wilson Tozer (April 21, 1897 – May 12, 1963) was an American Christian pastor, preacher, author, magazine editor, and spiritual mentor.[1] For his work, he received two honorary doctorate degrees. Biography Hailing from a tiny farming community in western La Jose, Pennsylvania, his conversion was as a teenager in Akron, Ohio. While on his way home from work at a tire company, he overheard a street preacher say "If you don't know how to be saved... just call on God, saying, 'Lord, be merciful to me a sinner.'" Upon returning home, he climbed into the attic and heeded the preacher’s advice. In 1919, five years after his conversion, and without formal theological training, Tozer accepted an offer to pastor his first church. This began 44 years of ministry, associated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA), a Protestant Evangelical denomination; 33 of those years were served as a pastor in a number of churches. His first pastorate was in a small storefront church in Nutter Fort, West Virginia. Tozer also served as pastor for 30 years at Southside Alliance Church, in Chicago (1928 to 1959), and the final years of his life were spent as pastor of Avenue Road Church, in Toronto, Canada. In observing contemporary Christian living, he felt that the church was on a dangerous course toward compromising with "worldly" concerns. Born into poverty, Tozer was self-educated teaching himself what he missed in high school and college due to his home situation.[2] In 1950, Tozer received an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from Wheaton College. It was May 1950, when Tozer was elected editor of the Alliance Weekly magazine, now called, Alliance Life, the official publication of the C&MA.[3] From his first editorial, titled Quality vs Quantity dated June 3, 1950, he wrote, "It will cost something to walk slow in the parade of the ages, while excited men of time rush about confusing motion with progress. But it will pay in the long run and the true Christian is not much interested in anything short of that." In 1952, he received an honorary LL.D. degree from Houghton College.[4] Among the more than 60 books that bear his name, most of which were compiled after his death from sermons he preached and articles he wrote, at least two are regarded as Christian classics: The Pursuit of God and The Knowledge of the Holy. Many of his books impress on the reader the possibility and necessity for a deeper relationship with God. Tozer had seven children, six boys and one girl. Living a simple and non-materialistic lifestyle, he and his wife, Ada Cecelia Pfautz, never owned a car, preferring bus and train travel. Even after becoming a well-known Christian author, Tozer signed away much of his royalties to those who were in need. He spent his last years of ministry at Avenue Road Church in the province of Ontario in Toronto, Canada, where he died from a heart attack. He was buried in Ellet Cemetery, Akron, Ohio, with a simple epitaph marking his grave: "A. W. Tozer - A Man of God." [5] His last message, The Waning Authority of Christ in the Churches, printed in the Alliance Weekly and dated May 15th 1963, was published 3 days after his death. His biographer James L. Snyder has suggested that "In a sense it was his valedictory, for it expressed the concern of his heart." Tozer says here "Among the gospel churches Christ is in fact little more than a beloved symbol. . . . The Lordship of Jesus is not quite forgotten, but it has been mostly relegated to the hymnal where all responsibility toward it may be discharged in a glow of pleasant religious emotion." Prayer was of vital personal importance for Tozer. "His preaching as well as his writings were but extensions of his prayer life," comments his biographer, James L. Snyder, in the book, In Pursuit of God: The Life Of A.W. Tozer. "He had the ability to make his listeners face themselves in the light of what God was saying to them," writes Snyder. Over the years many have been inspired by the life and sermons of Tozer. In 2011, Christian music artist Lauren Barlow of BarlowGirl published a compilation of stories told by 59 artists, writers, and leaders about how A.W. Tozer inspired them.[

Search | Add | 2 | Mélodie Gimard | The French master pianist Mélodie Gimard blends Flamenco with Jazz and Classical music with an utterly elegant and contemporary approach, freedom of expression and inspiration. As a former dancer, Mel Gimard translates the movements from Flamenco dances into music. In her compositions, we find influences from both traditional and contemporary Flamenco. El Chozas de Jerez, Manolo Caracol, Moraito, Bebo Valdes, Ibrahim Maalouf and Tigran Hamasyan. Performed with an exquisite line up of the new Spanish and Cuban generation of musicians in the field of Flamenco and Jazz, the music of Mel Gimard is stunning. References to her roots with a fearless approach by the piano prodigy and her knowledge for folklore and classics, results in a beautiful oeuvre by one of the most exciting pianists of her generation. A must for any Flamenco lover!

Search | Add | 2 | The New Gospel Keys | Clarence Clay and William Scott were blind black street singers who sang gospels accompanied only by one accordion (played by Clarence Clay). American researcher Pete Welding discovered them and produced a complete album featuring these two preaching musicians, which was recorded in 1961 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and two years later they recorded another studio album, "The New Gospel Keys", produced by Kenneth S. Goldstein & Pete Welding. Clay and Scott (both born in the 1920's) had been singing and playing on the streets of Philadelphia for thirteen years by the time they were noticed by Pete Welding. Clarence was mostly a self-taught accordionist and once he had somewhat mastered it, he began a career as a wandering minstrel. In his travels throughout the state of Virginia he encountered William, likewise blind and a singer. The two men decided to join forces, and traveled together performing sacred songs for their livelihoods until 1947, when Scott moved to Philadelphia, where he had relatives living. Clay joined him the following year, and after that the pair plied their art on the sidewalks of the city's business district. Generally, Clarence, who accompanies the singing on the accordion, sings lead. He will start off the vocal line of each song, and then will be joined by William, who enters with the harmony line.

Songs that have taken audiences on a roller coaster of emotions where the hardest men have been moved to tears whilst at the same time been lifted into a state of euphoria. These are not the songs for the faint hearted, they make you think and carry you on a journey. Each self-penned song is different from the other and makes you feel that sometime, somewhere you've heard it before. Ann has been described as a torch singer, somewhere between Stevie Nicks and Bette Midler. Her trusted guitarist has been likened to Richard Thompson, Johnny Marr and Eddy Shaver. As a duo they are a powerhouse to be reckoned with garnering the highest respect from the musicians that join them on different projects and performances along the way.

Biography (Spanish language): Director & Producer / Filmmaker / DJ & House Music Producer /BTL+ATL+2.0 Strategist Director / Art Director / Creative Director. |

Search | Add | 2 | James L. Richard II | Looking at James L. Richards family, it was fairly safe to say that the Oakland native was not going to be a street sweeper or a computer programmer. From the get go, the current band leader/music director for the Bay Area Icons, The Sekret Service and formerly of Club Nouveau, was introduced to music by his talented musical family. His uncles are William Richard and Roy Richard of the doo wop group The Robins and original members of the chart topping icons The Coasters. His older brother Billy has been a member of the legendary R&B group since 1962. James Dad was the legendary Rev J L Richard, Pastor and founder of The Evergreen Baptist Church Of Oakland and a Baptist icon. He lead the political charge for black people in the Bay Area and across the nation. A celebrity in his field working with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Julian Bond and a young Jesse Jackson among others. James Mom, Dortha Lee Richard lived with Frank Sinatra, working as Nancy Sinatras personal assistant (from the ages of 17-21 at that). She dressed Mrs. Sinatra (bought all her clothes and jewelry), handled all her appointments, acted as her single personal liaison, and even took care of Frank Jr. and Tina until she married Rev. Richard in the early 50s. The precocious musician started playing drums at 4 years of age and moved on to piano at 5. His Godfather gave him his first guitar at 14 and soon thereafter started playing Bass emulating his Funk Hero William Bootsy Collins. During college Richard says he formed Oakland bands called The Millenium Falcons and The 60s Kidz along with his ORIGINAL Sekret Service comrade the Incredible Mr. Risque. He says that the group dressed up in rugby shirts adorned with safety pins and played new wave and punk rock tunes. Following his punk phase, Richard became enamored by Prince and a burgeoning new music form known as rap. During this time Richard wanted to form a band called The Secret Service™ but found he had to settle for The Sekret Service™. "You cant copyright a name of a government agency," he says. While the old version of the The Sekret Service played all the popular artists of the time like Michael Jackson and Prince, Richard says the band also covered more adventurous fare. "We were a top 40 band, but we took chances, he says. We did Depeche Mode." By the mid-80s, Richard had a friend who started making waves in the music industry, Jay King. King was the Dictator behind the Timex Social Club, who had a hit with Rumors, and Club Nouveau. Club Nouveau and took the world by storm with such charted hits as "Situation Number 9", "Why You Treat Me So Bad," "Jealousy," "Heavy On My Mind," and the number 1 Grammy award winning remake of the Bill Withers classic: "Lean On Me." Their songs have been covered or sampled by such varied artists as J-Lo, R Kelly and Puff Daddy, Jessica Simpson, and The Luniz. Richard pulled the plug on The Sekret Service band to focus on doing studio work as The Sekret Service scoring films, composing commercials, designing sounds, and producing and engineering recordings. He ended up working with artists like R&B outfits Tony! Toni! Tone!, of course Club Nouveau, and dozens of rap/hip hop artists such as Askari X, Dru Down, Young Dre and Rodney O. But, in June of 2004, Richard realized he was missing the feel of performing in front of a crowd and formed The New Sekret Service™ until late 2008 reverting back to The Sekret Service™ moniker. Richard says he embraces the same philosophy that the past version of his band adhered to. "We pick material that is huge number one smash hits, but we make sure no one else plays it, he says. All the bands play the same songs, boring people to tears with their predictability. My goal is to entertain and INTERACT with the people, making sure they NEVER forget the experience." As of 2013, James continues to record, compose, perform, and interact with people all over the world and beyond.

Search | Add | 2 | Ricky Mantoan | Riccardo Mantoan | Ricky Mantoan (La Mure, 1945/12/4) and Branco Selvaggio Band The band was founded in 1978 by Ricky Mantoan who since the early sixties performed in public. Ricky’s first inspiration was the american guitarist Duane Eddy, which became famous for having introduced the electric guitar as lead instrument in Rock’n’Roll, around 1958. Between 1965 and 1970, after various experiences with the sound of some artists like Cream, Stones, and Jimi Hendrix of course, Ricky discovered and was deeply impressed by Californian Country-Rock and in the same time by English Folk Rock….The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Bros, Grateful Dead, Fairport Convention, but especially the country singer Gram Parsons affected the evolution of his own musical taste. In 1978 he put together a bunch of country dreamers and the name of the band was ”Branco Selvaggio” (which is the italian translation of “Wild Bunch”). At the time he started to write this own compositions that became part of his first solo album “Ricky“, published in 1980 . This work was well received by music critics both italians and foreigners . A song from the album, “Down in Memphis”, successfully entered the charts of a famous British trade magazine: Omaha Rainbow. Then started the left-handed guitarist’s collaboration with some legendary Californian artists: Ricky got in touch with and formed a strong friendship with bassist Skip Battin, formerly of the Byrds, New Riders of the Purple Sage and Flying Burrito Bros. Between 1982 and 1994 he played on tour with Skip Battin, Chris Darrow, Greg Harris, Sneaky Pete Kleinow, Gene Parsons, John York, Roger McGuinn, revealing himself as an excellent guitarist and a true magic picker on Pedal Steel Guitar. These events were recorded and two recordings published: LIVE IN ITALY and FAMILY TREE. The Family Tree album was recorded at the end of a tour in 1988 by the former Byrds Skip Battin and John York; Ricky was on pedal steel guitar and on electric string bender Telecaster guitar and also on vocals. Another guy from Branco Selvaggio was Beppe D’Angelo on drums; he gave to the band an hard drive and both Skip and John were impressed by hits talent. At the same time Ricky worked in studio sessions with some Italian musicians , also taking part in several television and radio broadcasts .In the nineties Branco Selvaggio was appreciated throughout Italy with concerts which are still defined as “memorable”. The shows of the band were a long playlist settling the sounds and sensations of a true Cosmic Country with a touch of psychedelic era. In 1991 the “DICTIONARY OF ITALIAN SONG” by Renzo Arbore, published by Curcio Editore, made a board dedicated to Ricky qualifying him among the most creative Italian musicians. In 1992 the first album by Branco Selvaggio was made, ”Riders of the Universe”, with songs written by Ricky and some covers of Byrds and Bob Dylan. In 1994 he was asked to join the Byrds to participate in an international tour and this event was taken from a live concert in Geneva a number of broadcasters and of which there is an album on cd and a video titled “LIVE IN GENEVA”. From 2006 Branco Selvaggio turned his attention particularly to the quality of musical sound and also to the the choral parts, insisting on genuine roots of country electric and acoustic. At present the renewed organic group includes Dario Zara on bass and vocals, Luciano Costa on acoustic and electric guitars, vocals and slide guitar, Beppe D’Angelo on drums and vocals, Ricky Mantoan of course is on pedal steel, electric and acoustic guitars, dobro, mandolin, harmonica and vocals. A new album ”RIDIN’AGAIN” which includes all songs written by Ricky is ready to be published. In 2013, Ricky has composed the soundtrack of the Italian movie "The Repairman" with Pedal Steel Guitar and Dobro. He has formed an artistic couple from 2011 with Gloria Berloso. He died suddenly aged 71, December 14, 2016 |

Search | Add | 2 | The Northettes | The Northettes were a vocal trio made up of [a293747], [a150887] and [a315251]. Although they are most famous for contributing to [l=Hatfield And The North]’s two studio albums, the first released in January 1974, the girls had sung together in 1971/72 in Dave Stewart & Chris Cutler led Ottawa Music Company which, sadly, left no recorded legacy. Between the Hatfields two albums, they also sang on [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/304008-Egg-2]Egg[/url]’s 1974 album The Civil Surface. After Hatfield And The North broke up, Barbara Gaskin sang in various musical projects like Red Roll On, [a=Bruford] and [a=National Health]. She later formed a successul duo with ex-Hatfield and partner [a=Dave Stewart]. Amanda went on to sing with the earlier line-ups of National Health and made several appearances in other projects involving Dave Stewart, while having a job for television. Ann Rosenthal adandonned her musical activities to work as a business analyst and management consultant. The sound of The Northettes has been described as heavenly and angelic; voices that can lift the spirit and soothe the soul. Their harmonies certainly added new dimension to the music of Hatfield And The North. Their singing on top of the jazz-tinged progressive rock that the band played was unlike anything ever recorded before and still sounds fresh and unique today.
