Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Winifred Cecil American soprano and vocal coach (1906-1985). Born Staten Island, studied singing as a child with Marcella Sembrich and the lieder singer Elena Gerhardt. In the early 1930's, she sang on radio programs before her New York recital debut in 1933 at Town Hall. The singer made several concert tours, appearing with symphony orchestras, and then went to Italy in 1937 to sing opera. She appeared at La Scala in Milan, the San Carlo Opera in Naples, and other European houses, appearing notably in Italian and German operas. The outbreak of World War II prevented Miss Cecil from returning to the United States for her scheduled Metropolitan Opera debut. She stayed in Italy, and married Baron Paolo Mazzonis di Pralafera. Miss Cecil returned to the United States after the death of her husband in 1949, and resumed a career as recitalist and soloist. She began teaching at the Juilliard School and the University of Buffalo, and started Joy in Singing, a series of public master classes that provided debut recitals for outstanding young singers. She also continued to coach singers privately, among them the pop singer Roberta Flack.

Search Add 2 Bento Araújo Bento Araujo is a journalist, researcher and record collector. He started out playing in bands and working in record stores. In 2003, he created poeira Zine, an independent publication that introduced a considerable amount of information on artists from around the world who had never captured the attention of mainstream media. After 13 years of intense activity and 69 issues published, poeira Zine’s impact paved the way for a weekly podcast: poeiraCast. The author has also had his articles, essays and interviews published in the two biggest Brazilian newspapers, O Estado de São Paulo and Folha de São Paulo, as well as in music magazines such as Bizz, Rolling Stone, Rock Brigade and Roadie Crew. Search Add 2 Fishtake Cardiff's Fishtake were formed in 1998, the name apparently having been chosen “from the ether”. After numerous line up changes and reshuffles, the band settled on the line-up of: Jim Williams - Vocals/Guitar, Paul Copner - Guitar, Charles Curran - Bass, Will Rees - Drums. In 2002 Fishtake recorded their debut EP, Private Foul and Surface Water, which was released on the band’s own 23:59 label. About a year later the band went into the studio again to record their first full-length, Propeller, after which Paul Copner left and was replaced with Pete Leakey. Fishtake became The Take (to avoid being called Fishcake, Fishtank and other 'hilarious' names that people billed them as).
