Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 7 Austin Stambaugh Austin Stambaugh Ohio Balladeer & Story Writer: Austin Stambaugh, is enriched with an authenticity magnetically keen. A modern pioneer of the traditional folk music art of spoken word storytelling, his work has been called “Timeless and nuanced,” by Lilly Hiatt who wrote, “enjoy with the lights low.” Folk pioneer Tim Easton wrote, “Austin Stambaugh is the best flatpicking songwriter you’ve never heard of, and I’ll stand on Steve Earle’s coffee table in my Redwing boots and say it.” Stambaugh’s aesthetic is derived from his fascination with plain-spoken human speech, new standard timeless songs, or just terrifying compositions that hold a listener in suspense. His artistry is displayed in his highly acclaimed studio album Midwest Supernatural (2023). Co-produced by Benjamin Tod of Lost Dog Street Band, the record is a dream document of personal wisdoms and narrations from his northeast Ohio upbringings. With dreamscape sounds of pedal steel guitar and fiddle washing through quick train beats hung on minor keys the record combines the best of his melodic ear as well as his ear for character that we read in his short stories. Originally from northeast Ohio, he is now located in Nashville, TN, where he works various blue collar jobs and is busy writing and recording for Nashville’s punk and folk label Anti-Corp Music. A new short story album is slated for release in early 2024 with a crop of new tour dates to go along.

Search Add 7 فاطنة بنت الحسين Fatna Bent El Hussein (1935 - 2005) was a Moroccan chaabi singer from Sidi Bennour in Morocco. Fatna has been influenced since her childhood by one of the most brilliant female artists of the time, Sheikha L’ghalia. The story began when Sheikha L’ghalia came to sing in one of the weddings in Sidi Bennour. L’ghalia was a unique woman with presence, charisma, deserved respect and pride. She was one of the rare women to drive a car at that time. This incident left a deep impression on Fatna Bent Lhoucine who then set herself the goal of becoming a sheikha like Sheikha L’ghalia. She then moved to the city of Yousoufiya after a short unsuccessful marriage experience. Fatna learned Aita from the big names like Sheikha Khadouj Laabdia and her husband Sheikh Mahjoub among others. These were her first steps toward making her image as a “Diva” and a legend of Aita. Later on, the group began to re-arrange songs performed by Sintir (Gimbri), as well as other songs that belong to women’s groups in the rural area. For example Moulay Abdellah Tohami Salmi, which describes the rituals and way to Moulay Abdellah Amgar festival in the peripheries of the city of El Jadida city. The song Moulay Abdellah is much like Sayed Mekkawi’s song , in which he describes the birth of the prophet. Another example is the song “Chaiba Ya W’lidi” of Qarzouz and Mahrash, which tells the story of a young man named Chaiba who was arrested because of the amount of cannabis that was in his possession. Despite some rearrangement and the use of new instruments like the violin and the lute, Sheikha Fatna Bent Lhoucine has preserved the pure rural authentic style in her songs which can be considered as a revival of Aita music and art. Although the wide changes and the external influence on Aita, Sheikha Fatna Bent Lhoucine, thanks to her conspicuous presence and strong voice, was undoubtedly one of the last artists that the Aita Art is pround of. If the early sheikhat and Shyoukh had the right to take pride in confronting the “makhzen” (Moroccan dictatorship) and French colonial authority, the legend Fatna Bent Lhoucine – proud of her rural identity and character of her unique voice- has the merit of reviving and established the pride of the rual identity. By registering and commemorating a large number of Aita songs, Fanta Bent Lhoucine deserves a historical legitimacy and the title of legend of Aita. She is as a reservoir of preserving the heritage and a model for Aita seasonal songs. Didn’t she said “Rani Sajjelt, La Tgoulo Mett” (artists never die).

Raymond Knehnetsky rushed out his own version to capitalize (also covering Ecama's "Ballad For Space Lovers") and tried to fill out an LP with space-themed tunes, writing a couple himself. (He's credited as "Ray Khinehtsky"). Knehnetsky was short of material and brought in Costandinos and co-writer Diego Forzay, whose six tracks took the proceedings in a bunch of different directions: "Saturn's Brass" is a fun, earthy tune driven by an enveloped guitar; "Meteor Chase" borrows a bunch of salsa motifs.

Search Add 7 Noshir Mody Noshir Mody Composer/Guitarist/Producer Noshir Mody is a stimulating and creative fusion guitarist displaying a beautiful tone, versatility, and inventive ideas on his picturesque originals. Throughout his career, he has recorded and performed consistently rewarding and thought-provoking sets of original music. Mody's latest set debuts a selection of thought-provoking originals that are filled with strong melodies, superior and versatile guitar playing, and warm vocals by Kate Victor. The philosophical and hopeful lyrics combine with inventive jazz solos to form a memorable work. The album features Mike Mullan on alto and tenor saxophone, Benjamin Hankle on trumpet and flugelhorn, Campbell Charshee on piano, Yuka Tadano on bass, Jarrett Walser on drums and, on two of the five main pieces, Kate Victor on vocals. Always displaying a highly individual sound on the guitar and a fresh imagination, Mody is heard in top form throughout his timely An Idealist’s Handbook: Identity, Love and Hope in America 2020. Born and raised in Bombay, India, Mody is self-taught on guitar. He has stated that his early inspirations included Indian classical music, Al DiMeola's Elegant Gypsy, music from Bollywood, and rock along with the modern jazz guitar masters. After moving to New York in 1995, Noshir Mody dedicated himself to creative music, regularly leading his own trio in clubs. His original conception to playing music was well showcased in his groups The EthniFusion Rock Ensemble and The EthniFusion Jazz Ensemble, where Mody had a who’s-who of the New York music scene as guest artists including Atila Engin (awarded Danish Composer of the Year ’85, established the World to World Drums and Percussion Festival in Copenhagen), Adam Armstrong (performed w Kenny Kirkland, Kenny Wheeler, Maria Schneider, Billy Cobham), Dan Jordan (performed w Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Arturo Sandoval, Natalie Cole), Dan Willis (performed w Michael Brecker, Roland Vasquez, John Hollenback, Kenny Wheeler), Bob Magnuson (performed w Whitney Houston, Patti Austin, B.B. King, Issac Hayes) and Mark Weinstein (performed w Eddie Palmieri, Cal Tjader and Tito Puente). Mody’s impressionistic playing and colorful originals are documented in his solo guitar recording In This World With You, his trio set Union Of Hearts and by his quintet and sextet ensembles on the albums Stories From The Years Of Living Passionately and A Burgeoning Consciousness, respectively. Mody has received the Independent Music Awards Best Jazz Instrumental Album nomination (Album: Stories From The Years Of Living Passionately), two Global Music Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the ‘Album’ and ‘Group’ categories respectively (Album: A Burgeoning Consciousness) and has twice received the GASC Outstanding Achievement in Songwriting, Instrumental category for his compositions India (Album: Stories From The Years Of Living Passionately) and Secrets In The Wood And Stone (Album: A Burgeoning Consciousness); among other accolades.

Search Add 7 Contravia In the late 80's and early 90's the Ecuadorian band Contravía helped with the transformation of national music and helped the medium take a new direction. Once the scenarios for bands like Contravía were opened, there was no turning back. With the change of music joined a new generation prepared and ready to be part of something fresh and new. Contravía had influences of the Jazz and the Blues. They fused several elements of these genres to create a live and powerful pop-rock style. Thanks to the musical level of Francisco 'Pancho' Terán, Felipe Terán, and Jay Byron we saw a wave of new sensations and experiences that until today we can enjoy. With the release of songs like 'Tapando el Sol con Un Dedo', 'Por Qué No Ves Si Llueve en Tel Aviv?', 'Lola', and 'Gafas con Caras' the band sets the musical history in Ecuador. In 1992 Contravía released 'Sólido' his first record album and in 1994 his second album 'Luz de Fuga' - with these records many lived an important time in the musical and cultural history of Ecuador. Music that inspired and gave way to other great bands and musicians to be part of the national scene.

Spiraloff then went on different paths, exploring different horizons with projects such as [anal]Og.sys, The Fauxhemians or Acridspleen. After a long hiatus (almost a decade), Spiraloff was reborn as an Amsterdam-based, two-men band at the end of 2012 and dropped a surprise new track for Xmas day '13 called 'As Long As It takes' for free on their Bandcamp. A new EP called "Born To Write Sad Songs" was released a few months later in February 2013 on NIDALI Records, and later that year the follow-up EP in the "Amsterdam EP's" trilogy "Lonely Ride 7'". The trilogy was completed early 2015 with the release of "Weathered In My Heart". This 4-track EP took almost 7 months to record and produce, and elaborates extensively on the topic on lost relationships. For Record Store Day '15, Spiraloff dropped a surprise new single called "Miles Apart", an experimental, 2-part piece of music opening new sonic horizons for the 2-headed band

Search Add 7 Bassplugger nükie & alex c Bassplugger (aka nükie & alex c) has been laying out beats since the late nineties. Since these two originally hail from Dallas, Texas, they were heavily influenced by the dirty warehouse music from the early 1990’s, which was quite prevalent in that area during the time. It was there that they both became hooked to those strange electronic sounds and were ultimately forced to do something about it. Although the two didn’t know each other at the time, they eventually teamed up in Southern California around 1999 and soon began laying the foundation for the Bassplugger sound, which exists today. Bassplugger first hit the scene in 2000 with their single “White Noise / Seduce and Destroy” ( Beatnix Labs Recordings) which enjoyed a good deal of success despite it’s limited pressing. Following that point, they continued to further develop their sound with a succession of releases, which claimed spots on DJ charts across the globe. Their next two singles, “Cortex,” and “Sumac” captured the ear of an even wider audience, and helped to spread their sound worldwide. In 2002 they signed the tech-funk stormers “Counterflow/Jawbreaker” to the Moonshine Green label, which enjoyed tremendous club chart success and gave them a secure foothold in the breakbeat arena. 2002 also saw the seminal remix of their track “Sumac” by the UK’s Future Funk Squad for the En:vision Recordings label, which was charted and supported by top-notch talent everywhere. More recently, the duo has been up to their necks in music, heavy on remix duty in the studio with current and up-coming remixes of Odeed, Baby Anne, and Beatnix Labs’ Mad Huban. They have also been perfecting their live show for a full bombardment of the senses in the very near future. And, of course, more singles are in the works as well. Stay tuned to this channel for more Bassplugger action…

Search Add 7 Plastic Violence Fabrizio Paolillo, Francesca Materazzi Plastic Violence starts in 1996 as a duo formed by [a1499348] and [a1499333] (Vega). Their first releases was with a strong flavor of industrial/experimental music and with political and social contents. With the first official Cd Immaterial (Death Paradise Production) the sound is radically changed to minimalist instrumentals ice-cold glitches with the tracks titles (begins with Ideal and ends with Idol) to form a path that blends the denial of the matter as a product's form and against the institutionalized art. The rare live-set exhibitions of Plastic Violence at the time was made to realize a noisy background to claustrophic multimedia happenings, helped also by other occasional collaborators. Then, in 2005, Francesca left Plastic Violence but Fabrizio has continued under the moniker with various compilation tracks and creating sonorizations for theatrical/art installation . In 2006, the year of the dog in the chinese calendar, Plastic Violence has released a monthly singles club on 3"cd-r ,The Dog Series (Death Paradise Production), each single in strictly limited hand-numbered edition of 50 copies. With these realises Plastic Violence has expanded the musical range to explore different directions. From the 11th issue of The Dog Series, Plastic Violence returns to be a duo with the adding of Marco Ricci as guitarist and singer .

Search Add 7 Shane Stephenson Shane Stephenson Shane Stephenson is a music producer, songwriter, and audio engineer. Based out of the Vancouver area in British Columbia, Shane grew up playing within a musical environment that allowed for heavy collaboration and an atmosphere of camaraderie. Having begun on piano at the age of eight, he developed a love for keyboards and synthesizers and an eclectic array of genres. This broad sensibility and leaning towards electronic production has led him to both creating original art as well as producing and finalizing the work of other artists. With a love of both performing and producing, he has been building his own repertoire while helping others to grow their work as well. For Shane music allows a means of escape, meditation, and contemplation, and through his work he hopes to allow others the same safe space for growth. He is working on growing his ever-expanding catalogue and creating an immersive musical experience that will go beyond the traditional confines of a stage show in order to allow for a more genuine connection with his audience. A multifaceted musician, he has performed and collaborated with a dozen local acts, most notably Vancouver’s own indie-rock band Derrival.  A co-founder of the band, Shane has joined them in becoming finalist of the 2014 Peak Performance Project and winners of the inaugural 2015 Allain Slaight Juno Master Class, all while having the secrets of the music business demystified by top tier industry professionals.  He also produced their debut self-titled record, which reached over a million streams across Spotify and Youtube with singles “Ice Cream” and “Ghosts of Our Past”.  Their songs have also been featured on tv shows All American and Degrassi, as well as several commercials across North America. In 2020, Shane teamed up with breakthrough artist Xana to help her finish her first set of singles. Her first single “Goddess,” produced by Shane, has reached 4 million streams on spotify in just over a year. Shane is also devoted student of the sonic world: He has studied keyboards, bass, and voice during his adolescent life; graduated from the Harbourside Institute of Technology’s audio engineering and music production program in 2014; and was mentored by Ryan Worsley during his time at Echoplant Sound in 2016, assisting on renowned Canadian musicians’ albums (Dear Rouge, K-OS), developing the tools of the trade. As a mix engineer and producer he works to hone in on the balance of a fresh but commercially strong sound when working with artists.  He is also well known for his work with the international organization Sofar Sounds producing live, on location, performance style music videos to their 600,000 subscriber fanbase on youtube.

Search Add 7 P.P. Nikt Dejan Vlaisavljević P.P. Nikt stands for [b]Plastično Pozorište Nikt[/b] (Plastic Theatre Nikt) and was a brainchild of Dejan Vlaisavljević. While his activities were primarily associated with filmmaking, Dejan Vlaisavljević also composed soundtracks for his films and theatre plays. In the beginning, around 1987, he was the only member of the group, performing live several times as a one man band and occasionally with the help of video/sound artist Petar Milić. The concerts combined video and film screenings, live instrumental music and spoken word. During that time P.P. Nikt recorded the four cassettes. In 1989 Mirko Mikulić and Dragan Ve Ignjatović joined in making P.P. Nikt a trio that performed several times in Belgrade and Warsaw. Later on, in 1990 Dejan dropped the 'P.P.' in the band name as well as the two other band members, teamed up with longtime friend and a colleague [a=Igor Toholj] and produced an album called Amazing Flight Stories. Soon, in the wake of war in Yugoslavia, he relocated to Amsterdam where he remains until today, making movies and just occasionally composing music.
