Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Martha Catalina Catalina Palacios With the Aguascalientes singer Martha Catalina we are going to listen to the songs "Black Tears", by Miguel Matamoros and "Ni por favor", by Rubén Fuentes and Alberto Cervantes. Martha Catalina was a bolerista who recorded several albums mainly in the early fifties. Unfortunately, there is little biographical data of this singer that, according to Pablo Dueñas, in his book of boleros, was much loved by the northern audiences. Apparently her first name was Catalina Palacios. Martha Catalina's style had a touch of drag in her way of performing her songs. Some say that the style of interpreting this singer included a stamp impregnated with eroticism. He began his career at the XEB radio station, La Buen Tono station, in the early 1950s; later he was an artist of the XEW, The Voice of Latin America from Mexico, in the midday programs. Most of his 78 rpm discs made them for the Columbia label. One of his greatest successes was the bolero “Vacío”, by composer José de Jesús Morales. Other boleros he recorded were "Mazatlan Nights", "Nonsense", "I lost your love", "Compassion", "Answer to sea and sky", "Partic Heart", "Black flowers", "Badly reciprocated", and others plus. Martha Catalina passed away in the mid-eighties.

Search Add 2 Srđan Šaper Srđan Šaper Srdjan Saper, born on October 9, 1958 in Belgrade (Serbia) is one of the most prominent and most influential musicians in former SFR of Yugoslavia. He is a founder and a member of the VIS Idoli (The Idols), band that initiated the New Wave on the music and cultural scene of the former Yugoslavia in the 1980s. Their second album, Odbrana i poslednji dani (The Defense and the Last Days), music critics voted for the best album of 1982 and, what is more, the best Yugoslav rock album of the 20th century. Later on, in 1998, the album was polled as Yugoslav greatest popular music album in the book YU 100: Najbolji albumi jugoslovenske rok i pop muzike (YU 100: The best albums of Yugoslav pop and rock music). Album Čokolada (Chocolate), released in 1983, along with Riblja Čorba’s album Mrtva priroda, was the best-selling rock album in Yugoslavia up to that time. He is also well-known as the character of Spiridon Kopicl in the cult movie Davitelj protiv davitelja (Strangler vs. Strangler) for which he wrote the song “Bejbi, Bejbi” (Beogradski davitelj). He composed music for the TV drama “Šumanović – komedija umetnika” (Sumanovic - A Comedy of an Artist), in which he also played a character called Rastko Petrović. After music and acting career, Srdjan Saper entered the world of advertising. Prior to establishing McCann Erickson agency in Serbia in 1997, he worked as Creative Director and TV Director/Producer for various advertising agencies “SM Delo”, “Borba”, “Ogilvy & Mather”, “Saatchi & Saatchi” and “Idols & Friends” agencies. He is Founder and Chairman of McCann Grupa, one of the leading marketing communications networks in Southeast Europe, with operations in eight countries.

Search Add 2 Abston Anthony – ENG – Based in Lausanne in Switzerland, Anthony a.k.a Abston is above all a real music lover who has his entire life dedicated to music. At a very young age, he discovered Funk and Disco music with his father who was a Disc-Jockey and a Club founder. He then developed a limitless musical curiosity and a passion for records digging. Throughout the years, he will create a massive record collection and will get a very strong and impressive musical culture. He started logically to produce his own music in 2009 and signed on labels like Monique Musique, Conceptual Record or Midnight Social Recordings. It’s in 2021 that he started his own label called Amphase Records dedicated only to Vinyl releases. His career on stage started a bit later in 2011 as a resident DJ in a Club. He then got in touch with big stages after his encounter with Franck Fricker and played festivals like Les Jeudis Electro or Rivages Electroniques. However, he was never far from Clubs, and played in Germany, in France and of course in Switzerland like at Folklor in Lausanne or at Audio Club in Geneva. All these years of great encounters, contact with the crowd, huge love for music and a perpetual and deep sound research will allow Abston to create a musical world that belongs to him. His music invites to travel, enriched by years of hard work and passion. A travel where genres, ages and cultures are mixed and sublimed. Finally, Abston with his music gives a soul to the heart, wings to the brain and rhythm to the body.
