Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Quartier Latin Jazz Band Early German jazz band from Stuttgart, founded in 1952 by Dieter Antritter. He led this band more than 50 years. The band is also known by the name "The Latin Jazz Band". Bandleader Antritter was jazz enthusiastic and went to Paris shortly after WW2 ended. There, he met some well-known Jazz players and started to jam with them. After his return to Stuttgart in 1952, he founded the "Quartier Latin Jazz Band" as a local band in Stuttgart. Now, he started to use his network and brought Paris-based jazz musicians to Stuttgart, as Benny Waters, Mezz Mezzrow or Michel Attenoux. They were joining his band as guest musicians. The recording era started in 1960. The band's bassist was working at Stuttgart-based Deutscher Schallplattenclub. By this relationship, DSC started to record the guest performances and pressed it on vinyl. The band existed more than 50 years with Antritter as bandleader and still had live-performances in 2003. By Antritter's death in August 2015, the band existed for 63 years.

Search Add 2 Endless Lights Progressive psychedelic trance / Trance duo project based in France Endless Lights is the project of two lovers of electronic music. A metaphor for talking about happiness and emotions, a reference to space and its infinity as well as to the poetry it evokes to them. Klaus Schulze, Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, and Jean-Michel Jarre were the first to put stars in the eyes of the duo. It was in the early 2000s after listening to a hardcore audio cassette for him and dance music for her that their love affair with electronic music really began. And it was during 2006 with the discovery of a trance compilation gleaned from the net that we fell in love with this music. After an already well-supplied career in hard music for their respective solo projects, Endless Lights signs the fusion of a composition combining the technique of one and the artistic touch of the other. Dive with this couple into very spatial musical layers, between arpeggios, ultra retro synth leads under musical influences inspired by Neelix, Stephan Bodzin, Giorgia Angiuli or even Perturbator. The moving and magical cosmos of a mixture of lo-fi, synthwave, midtempo, electro, trance, krautrock and sometimes hip-hop. The “infinite lights” of music, according to Endless Lights. Search Add 2 Dave Handford David Handford Born in Torquay, Devon, sound artist Dave Handford has been producing organised sonic work since 1992. Through early experiments in electronic psychedelia with Vibe Tribe (1992-1993) and electronica/techno with Moduloss (1993-1995), his work now ranges from minimalist drone pieces to absurd rhythmic soundscapes. From an early interest in electronics he also constructs sound devices for recording and performance including analogue harmonic units and Theremin based machines. These have been used in Jo Shapland's performances Chrysalis (1998) and See the Woods Through the Trees (2000-2002), as well as site specific installation work such as Further Back and Faster (2001) and Radio St.Dogmaels #2 (2001) in Pembrokeshire as part of Ointment collaborative arts project. Other collaborative work has included a soundtrack for Jo Shapland's Zeitlupe (1999/2000), live and vinyl music for Continuous Sound Laboratory (2000-2001), and live soundtracking for Man Troi on Pedestal (2002) and Soluna (2002), in Ireland and Wales. Currently he is continuing his site specific, tone/harmonic Soundings throughout Wales and UK, in underground and other obtuse spaces. Since May 2001, his label [l62011] has been a vehicle for his and others experimental recordings. Under this he also records as DJ Methodist and Ministry Of Defiance.

Search Add 2 Herman The Hermit Clifford Herman Snyder 1884-1964. Herman settled in Stockton, California and moved in 1922 to Burbank, where, amidst the first movie studios, he and his wife opened the 5 acre Snyder Nursery. With his several hound dogs in tow, he would go hunting in what was then a very rural area. Soon, with his growing contacts and friends in the film biz, he would rent out his hounds as “atmosphere dogs” for movies, often appearing with them as the appropriate background character (One source claims he appeared in 100 films). His unusual “big break” occurred during the filming of 1930’s “The Big Trail” (which featured John Wayne in his first leading role). After playing “Oh Suzanna” on his banjo for the film crew’s evening campfires during the three month location shoot, he was later asked by director Raoul Walsh to play it on the film score. When a popular KEHE radio show host/singer named Stuart Hamblen went to the movies one day and heard the banjo on the soundtrack, he tracked down and hired Snyder for his radio show band. Snyder happened to show up in the long hair and full beard that he had been asked to grow for his Big Trail “pioneer extra” role, whereupon Hamblen christened him “Herman the Hermit,” which immediately became his professional stage name for the remainder of his career. I wonder whether he ever longed to return to a short-haired, clean-shaven appearance – he certainly seems to have embraced the “hermit” character, with a joyous inviting smile in every photo he appears in. When Herman later got his bassist son – also named Clifford (G.) Snyder – a spot in Hamblen’s band, Hamblen nicknamed the lad “Cliffie Stonehead,” simply because he wanted to keep his dad’s “hermit” character intact! The younger Cliff would eventually shorten it to become “[a=Cliffie Stone]” for the remainder of his life. Grandfather of [a601671] and [a1193604].

Search Add 2 Rik Clay Richard John Clay Richard John Clay, born 5th August 1982 in Scunthorpe, UK, was a musician, graphic designer, web designer, writer, researcher and charismatic genius whose mission was to bring fairness, abundance and joy to all human beings. At school in Scunthorpe he achieved top grades in nearly everything he did. It was during this time, whilst studying for his “A” levels, that Rik found his passion for music Attending Leeds Metropolitan University from 2001 to 2004, graduating with a 2/1 degree in Multi Media Technology, Rik subsequently went on to work in graphic / web design for a number of companies. At the age of 16 he founded the band FULC, who, over the course of their youthful development went on to become a highly respected rock band. Between the years 2001 and 2005 FULC released 4 records – “Void” EP ( 2001 ), “The Fallen” EP ( 2002 ), “Biting Insomnia” Album ( 2003 ), “Embrace.Destroy” Mini Album ( 2005 ) – all critically acclaimed nationally in the UK Rock Press. FULC toured the UK relentlessly for 4 years and toured Germany in 2005 to support the release of the records there. Rik joined rock band Ten Seconds of Chaos between 2006 and 2007 and started his solo project Somewhere Not Here during 2006. In July 2006 Rik met his life partner Mick Bullock and together they began an escalating campaign of travel and research. He developed interests in a great number of fascinating fields, including crop circles and sacred geometry, Reiki and Shamanism, free energy research, ancient mythology and Pyramidology, the global consciousness and the noosphere, reincarnation theory, 2012 and the Mayans, precession of the equinoxes, talismans, synchronicity, telepathy, holographic universal theory, and all things esoteric. Between September 2006 and May 2008 his journey took him to Spain, Italy, Egypt, Malta, Wales, Poland, The Netherlands, France and Mexico. The extreme wealth of information and wisdom that ensued precipitated the Cosmic Mind Blog, which allowed Rik to spread his knowledge and findings to people all over the world. After 3 months the blog had attracted a regular readership in excess of 30,000 people and his growing popularity led him to give interviews on Red Ice Creations Radio. Sadly for all of us, the sheer speed and intensity of the research eventually caused him to experience a sudden internal episode which stripped away his bounding energy and insight. A day less than 11 weeks later, on 28th August 2008, at the age of 26, Rik ended his own life in Ilkley. Whilst we will never really know what took Rik to his final decision, those closest to him have been able to put together a few pieces of the puzzle that help in understanding where his mind was. Rik’s ashes are scattered upon Ilkley Moor, overlooking the town above Rocky Valley, at grid ref 126464.
