Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Juan Rolando John Roland Redd Juan Rolando was a moniker used for several years by African-American organist, pianist and pioneering television performer John Roland Redd (16 September 1921, St. Louis, Missouri — 2 October 1998, Petaluma, California). He was born in a family of a Baptist pastor, one of seven children, and began playing piano at three, showcasing tremendous natural ability. In 1938, soon after graduating from high school, Redd got his first job at the Central Broadcasting Company in Des Moines, Iowa, but couldn't advance his career facing a commonplace racial discrimination against African-Americans. Since his mother had mixed Anglo and African origins, John had relatively light complexion and straight hair; thus, he decided to pass as Mexican and invented a new artistic alias, "Juan Rolando". In the early 1940s, John moved from the Midwest to California, where two of his older sisters, both singers, had already settled. As Juan Rolando, he was soon hired at KMPC radio station in Los Angeles as an organ accompanist. He was able to join the Musicians' Union, which didn't accept African-American members at the time, thus gaining access to various studio and concert gigs. Juan Rolando had a brief career in the aspiring "cocktail lounge" genre and released several 10" shellac records on a short-lived Californian label [l=Cocktail Hour (2)]; however, Rolando/Redd wasn't able to achieve a major breakthrough. In the late 1940s, now in collaboration with his wife, John Redd invented yet another artistic disguise, this time posing as a mysterious French-Indian musician [a=Korla Pandit]. In June 1948, he was commissioned as "Korla Pandit" to create and perform music for a relaunch of a fantasy horror radio drama Chandu the Magician. In February 1949, Pandit/Redd debuted a solo television program on KTLA, Korla Pandit's Adventures In Music, which became an instant hit and launched a prolific career.

Search Add 2 RAAF Operational Command Band For most of the 20th century there were two [l=Royal Australian Air Force] bands. The [a=R.A.A.F. Central Band] and the Air Command Band aka RAAF Richmond Band, RAAF 1 Regional Band or the [a=RAAF Operational Command Band]. Before 1952 there were a number of other bands of amateur musicians. In 1932 the Air Command Band started as the RAAF Richmond Band. In 1969 it was renamed the RAAF 1 Regional Band and disbanded early in 1974, then reinstated later that year under the new title of the RAAF Operational Command Band. In 1988 the band was renamed the Air Command Band. Bandmasters c1927-1934 Ernest Thomas Joseph Keller 1935 Corporal Naylor 1946-1955 Ernest John 'Tubby' Fellows 1955-1969 ??? Music Directors 1969-1974 [a=Michael A. Butcher] 1974-1978 Archie Burt 1978-1988 [a=Tom Cooper (6)] 1988-2000 [a=David C. Worrall] 2000-2008 John Buckley The Band was formed by the then Commanding Officer of RAAF Richmond, Squadron Leader Bostock, and was a part-time brass band. This group of part-time musicians came from different trades within the RAAF and was under the direction of Leading Aircraftman Ern Keller. As the part-time band grew in numbers and expertise, it became very busy and was comparable to most full time Army bands. The first band officer was Flying Officer Richard. Over the years the Band performed at many events including royal visits, Government House investitures and in 1940 it escorted 6 Squadron to the station on its departure to join the war effort, and held a concert for the Empire Air Training Scheme contingent bound for Canada. The Band was also asked to accompany [a=Gracie Fields], the then well known singer, at a welfare/comfort concert which was held at the [l=Sydney Town Hall]. In 1946 Flight Lieutenant 'Tubby' Fellows became bandmaster. In 1969 it became a full-time band. Starting with 12 musicians, it was renamed the RAAF 1 Regional Band, and at that time woodwind instruments were introduced. Pilot Officer M. Butcher was the first Director of Music. Due to government policy the Band was disbanded early in 1974, but successful lobbying saw it reinstated later that year under the new title of the RAAF Operational Command Band under the direction of Flight Lieutenant Archie Burt. In 1978, a new director, Squadron Leader [a=Tom Cooper (6)], was appointed. He was a graduate of the Royal Military School of Music (Kneller Hall) London. With the re-orgamsation of RAAF Air Headquarters in 1988 the band was renamed the Air Command Band. The Air Command Band has included a full concert band, an 18-piece jazz band, a seven-piece combo known as 'Touch and Go', a brass quintet known as 'Jet Stream' and a woodwind quintet known as 'Windshear'. In 2008 the band merged with the [a=R.A.A.F. Central Band] from Laverton to form the Air Force Band.

Search Add 2 Efrayim Fischbacher The nonegenarian, Efrayim Fischbacher has had a career that started in the early 1940's in Hoboken and New York, continued with a stint in the Army bands in Korea and culminated with the award of "World's Loudest Clarinetist™ in 1967. He spent time during the heyday of Las Vegas show-bands, the golden age of Broad-way. Just name a legendary figure, and Effie will surely have had an experience and a tale to tell. Still going, he has recently collaborated with Jason Miles, releasing a series of works-in-progress to document the creation of a musical work. Jazz, polka, smooth-jazz, Broad-way, Dixie-land, Hot-jazz, cool-jazz, country-time, rhumba, rock-and-roll, Swing-time - Efrayim has done it all.
