Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 The Skalps The Skalps started in 2016 as something of a vanity project for Dublin'er Tommy Byrne formerly of Present Arms fame who, upon approaching a significant birthday (not his 21st!), decided he wanted to “scalp” a few of his favorite musicians from the Ska scene to record some of his original tunes for posterity. Seven people eventually signed up for Tommy’s pet project the rest is history.

Search Add 2 Saint Jude's Day Saint Jude's Day formed in 1996 when [a=John Mulhouse], drummer for [a=Bombsite] and the [a=Kung Fools], and [a=Kris Anderson], bassist of [a=The Strike (2)], began playing after their respective bands broke up. [a=Zak Boerger] joined on guitar and vocals and the trio started writing and practicing in earnest. This full-band version of Saint Jude's Day proved to be short-lived, however, when Kris left to pursue other endeavors. Zak and John continued, rehearsing a variety of originals, as well as covers by Gang of Four, the Rolling Stones, and The Who. After unsuccessful attempts to find a full-time bassist or second guitarist, it was decided in late 1997 to disband Saint Jude's Day after recording the completed originals. For the recording, [a=Mark Wilcox] of [a=Destroy!], [a=Impetus Inter], and [a=No Statik], amongst others, played bass. In 2004, Saint Jude's Day reconvened to record new material and play two shows. For this recording, in addition to Zak and John, [a=Scott Cook] of [a=Porcelain Boys], [a=Bombsite], and [a=The Ronnie Buxtons] played bass. Zak would go on to play in psyche-folk project [a=These Wonderful Evils].

Search Add 2 Mitho Kanywa There used to be a South German band from the small town of Waldshut that won quite a few music awards such as the German Rock Prize, SWR3 Rookies and a few others on their mantelpiece at home. Then it was quiet for a while - and now they're back. Stylistically, the unabashed composition of different, long-established musical styles, regardless of time and fashion, is still convincing. Mitho Kanywa combines electronic grooves, crackling warm guitar sounds and bittersweet harmony vocals to create a mixture of music that works completely independent of space and time. Their sound sounds like an experiment in which the euphoria of the young Deutsche Welle reacts with the melancholy of Element of Crime. Songs for the stage, indie pop miniatures that sparkle and glitter like a spinning disco ball. Music for dark blue nights. Heartbeat.

Search Add 2 Ethan Griggs Ethan Samuel Griggs As the sun illuminates through the vibe-stained alleyways of Denver, Colorado, Ethan Griggs looks out at the city from his quarters and gazes upon the colors of the sunset in fall. Pink and blue collide and conceive a beautiful glow of light that shines on the buildings, creating more color in the sky, which reflect off his mind and create a gigantic Droste effect of aesthetic. It feels like he's living in a rainbow. This is perhaps a good way to describe his music at this point... A multi-instrumentalist of many years, one could say that Griggs's main vehicle of expression, or the one he's most in control of, is his voice; Griggs has been singing since the age of 3. At his Denver Alma matter Denver School of the Arts, he studied in the Theatre major, earning many leading roles in the department's musical theatrical productions. Now 22, Ethan further pursued a career in music throughout his teen years. At the age of 15 he formed his first band, Youth In Conflict, and frequently played around the Denver area for a total of approximately 30 shows in the band's year-long life span (on top of homework, of course.) The group gained acclaim in the Denver music scene by entering in annual Battle of the Bands competitions and playing venues such as the Ogden, Oriental, and Marquis theaters. In one of the annual battles judged by Grammy Award-winner Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, he called Griggs's sense of song structure, melody, and lyrics "instinctive." He gave the group second place in the competition. Ethan later was involved with creating the Denver folk-collective ClusterFolk. The group also gained moderate notoriety around the Denver scene, having the opportunities of playing at the prestigious Bluebird and Gothic Theaters. In the same BOB competition, the year after Youth In Conflict won, Isaac Slade of the Grammy Award-nominated band The Fray gave the group third place, stating that band "sound drunk, but in the best way possible." Using prize money from the event, the collective recorded their debut EP Brighter & Brighter at Maxwell Studios in Highlands Ranch, with Griggs contributing two of the four songs and arranging all of them. The EP was released independently in February of 2012. Now that he's getting closer to closing the door on his college career at University of Colorado Denver, Ethan is excited to further bud out as a writer and artist in the Denver music scene. In April of 2015, he was a finalist in the CU Denver Songwriting contest, judged by the one and only Todd Rundgren, whom Ethan got to open for when he played a concert at the school the next night. The song in question, "Mind Gardening Girl", was released on Griggs's first EP, Transient, which is available on all major streaming services.

Search Add 2 The Five Tymes Garage band from Duluth, MN. Don Legendre and Jerry Pelletier started playing guitars together in 1962, and recruited John Flint and Bob Berini to play with them. Paul Ottinger was added as lead vocalist later. All five were students at Duluth East HS. Don, Bob and Jerry played Guitar. John Flint played Drums and Sax. They were playing local gigs and dances when [a5581102], a DJ for WEBC radio in Duluth, heard them, took them under his wing and got them additional dances and a recording session in Minneapolis. The label changed their name from the Marauders to the Five Tymes (presumably because another band was already using that name).

She studied painting at the Stieglitz School of Technical Drawing, and subsequently at the Imperial Academy of Arts under Ilya Repin. The academy only started to accept women in 1892, and Ostroumova was one of the first women alumni. In 1898 and 1899 she studied in Paris at the Académie Colarossi, and also with James McNeill Whistler at the Académie Carmen. In 1900, Ostroumova graduated from the academy, specializing on graphics, and at the same year joined the Mir iskusstva art group in Saint Petersburg. In 1901, she produced the first series of woodcuts with Saint Petersburg cityscapes, ordered by Sergei Diaghilev. In the 1900s—1910s she extensively travelled around Europe and also worked as a book illustrator. Since 1934, she worked as a professor in the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Architecture, and Sculpture. Ostroumova-Lebedeva survived the Siege of Leningrad, but sometime after that became blind. She died in 1955 in Leningrad. The main topic of her graphic works, both woodcuts and watercolors, were cityscapes of Saint Petersburg. She was also interested in European cityscapes, resulting from her travels in Europe.

With as many as nine performers on stage at a time, the early alt-country band had a big sound which was especially impressive in the many smaller venues they played throughout the mid 1970s. They morphed into a band that blurred the boundaries between Soul, R&B, Funk, and Jazz, winning a 1979 Musician's Insider Connie Hechter Award (for best over-all band) before disbanding in 1981. Search Add 2 ex->tension This is an LP collaboration with G.W. Bielski, who had lured me out of musical seclusion. Subsequently we brought my Ritual Tension band mates on board for some of the tracks. The Kiss is 9 tracks total and runs 35+ minutes. And I promise you, like many kisses, it may not be completely to your liking. In fact I think it has something to displease everyone! It’s a lot about the spoken word, lots of poetry, which should discourage most people. But if you’re a poetry purist, it has a lot of music too, and not very normal music either. It’s spooky in parts, pulsing in certain sections, weird ass shit altogether. If you’re into melody, well, there’s ‘noise,’ it’s ‘experimental.’ If you’re deeply into noise, there’s’ melody,’ and ‘singing.’ There’s even a beat in some of the songs, but not a lot, if you’re into beat. If you like stuff well-defined, this isn’t for you, either. If you’re a complete weirdo and into Ritual Tension, all members of the band are present, but collaborating on separate tracks, which is one reason it’s called ex->tension. Really only elements that are unequivocally high quality and pleasing are the cover art work by my bro Andrew Nahem, the soundscapes by Gregg, the contributions by my mates Marc Sloan, Michael Shockley and Andrew, and sound mastering by Scott Anthony. This is my first record release in more than a couple decades, and I’m kinda proud of it, and of my mates too. FYI: we’ll be putting it up on some streaming services and doing some live RECORD RELEASE gigs in the next few months, in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and NYC. See you there. Cheers. - Ivan Nahem Ritual Tension / ex->tension July 7th, 2017

Search Add 2 Lars DK Nielsen Danish keyboards player. The Modern Musical Tale of the Ugly Duckling … LarsDK was only 9 years old when he first threw his organ in Dad’s car and stayed driven to work. It was the start of several thousand jobs in Zealand assembly houses, sports halls and for town parties. There was no doubt in the young LarsDK’s musical mind which way he went should be alive … A life of music. Cut to many years later, when you almost can’t open a television program, turn on a radio or watch a concert without LarsDK. All of a sudden, things went strong from the assembly houses to the boned musicals floors. Burhan G, Rasmus Mountain’s John Mogensen Show, Rugsted & Kreutzfeldt, Stig Ross, and countless TV shows, just to name a few of them as callers LarsDK in. There is a picture of an incredibly versatile musician who knows his genres and manages to play music with heart. Speaking of heart … A late night time on the way home over the Great Belt Bridge led a talk with friend and colleague Bobo Moreno, for a mutual challenge; They should each especially, like dogma, the following week write 3 songs to kick each other in once again with the songwriting … and it helped! For Lars, the beginning of songwriting has been about breaking own boundaries. When one like him has been playing professionally since the age of 9, you have been paying attention many good songs and it may scare a little. But now the time was ripe to be brave and it opened to one, until now closed, musical lock… more than 50 songs toppled out of Lars, and now they are best selected so that Denmark can listen to LarsDK’s amazing songs. The lyrics are about children, family, boyfriends, marriage, parents, siblings, and ups & downs … in short; songs about growing and ending as an adult. The songs are written in a mood of westcoast, country, gospel and disco, and with very deep roots in the Danish pop tradition. The songs are hand-played by some of the very best musicians we have in the country and The North, and makes up today’s template music, in its “not hunting” on it fast hit. LarsDK is a fantastic pianist and a fabulous singer and he shows that fortunately on this album… closer does not come LarsDK.

Search Add 2 Peter Ritchie Calder Peter Ritchie Calder British writer Ritchie Calder narrated a 1955 album “Science in Our Lives” presented as various “observations” about how science relates to man and how we organise the world. Calder was a socialist and peace activist, and was interested in the public understanding of science and this rare album presents a very “human” view of science. By contrast, Calder's voice is disarmingly robotic as sampled on the track "Human Spiritual" from the 1996 self-titled album by Mockingbone, which credits him as vocalist: "Create a better world for mankind... enlarge the human spirit".

Search Add 2 Geri O'Brien Geri O'Brien is a 26 year old bundle of energy from Gaspe, Quebec., who has been setting country music fans on their ear all around the country. Although Geri can play guitar, she accompanies herself instead with a snare drum, and the way she handles the drum along with singing a spectacular song has made her a prime attraction with Dusty King's Country Cats, the group with whom she appears. Geri's TV career began in Corwall in 1960, followed a stint on Sherbrooke's Channel 7 -- CHLT-TV. This led to a contract with Dusty King's group and appearances around Canada and the U.S.A. Geri's favorite country singers are Jean Sheppard, and in this her first record album she's chosen a dozen of her own special favorites. It's a listening package that will provide a mighty enjoyable sample of a talented new singer. * Biography information from the Arc album "Out Behind The Barn - With Geri O'Brien"

Randy Stocker: Acoustic/rhythm guitar, vocals; Government of Canada employee by day, aspiring balladeer by night.
