Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025
Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 4 | Siilikesed/Ezīši/Hedgehogs | SIILIKESED Alates aastast 2000 on meie rahvapilliansambel esinenud rahvusseltside kokkutulekutel, festivalidel, koolides, laagrites, raamatukogudes, kirikutes jne., Indianas ja mitmes teises osariigis USA-s, isegi nii kaugel kui Floridas. Meie eesmärgid on Baltimaade pärimusmuusika tutvustamine ja sarnaduste uurimine Kirde-Euroopa rahvaste traditsioonides. Meie repertuaar on õpitud vanematelt, muusikaraamatutest, teiste ansamblite helisalvestustest ning videolõikudest. Seaded on tihti originaalsed. HEDGEHOGS Since 2000, our instrumental folk music group has performed at ethnic organizations’ meetings, festivals, schools, camps, libraries, churches, etc. in Indiana and several other states of the USA, even as far away as Florida. Our goals are to spread awareness of the folk music heritage of the Baltic lands and to explore similarities between the traditions of Northeast European nationalities. Our repertoire includes tunes learned from our elders, music books, other ensembles’ audio recordings and video clips. The arrangements are often original.

Search | Add | 4 | Reagan Burger | Reagan Burger was born at the end of 2016 in Limoges, French capital city of nothingness. Composed of four young old men who were teenagers in the 80’s, this band is closer to early retirement than to high school diploma. But they just don’t care about it. El Doggo (Bass, Politrouk, Drinking Manager, Graphic Designer), Durf (Guitar, Toolbox Manager, Animal Cause Manager), Ray (Throat, Catering Manager, Camp Activity Leader, Graphic Designer) and Lolo (Drums, First Aider, Music Theory Teacher) did all play in several bands before Reagan Burger but the information is classified until 2072. Reagan Burger dedicates an obsessional worship to the 80’s hardcore punk, thrashcore and crust. Position that can lead to a death sentence in certain countries and to a total incomprehension on behalf of 98 % of the local population... Reagan Burger is not beautiful, Reagan Burger was not designed to look nice, Reagan Burger smells like sweat, Reagan Burger plays as it can, Reagan Burger chuckles foolishly, Reagan Burger speaks his mind, and thinks what it says, Reagan Burger would like you to listen to it before it get lynched!

Search | Add | 4 | Bernard Moussali | Bernard Moussali (1953, Beirut -1996, Paris) was an Associate Professor of Arab Literature, and Lecturer at the Sorbonne, he had dedicated his research to Arab Music, with an open-mindedness he passionately defended. Born to a Syrian-Lebanese father and a Belgian mother, he carried within a multiculturality that was at the core of his too short scientific career. Gifted with an uncommon spirit of enquiry and with rare erudition, attentive reader of Ṭabarī, of ‘Abd al-Ghanī al-Nābulsī as well as of Umberto Eco or simply of crime novels, Bernard Moussali was known for his often categorical judgements and his quick wit that made of him and intellectual who was admired as much as he was feared. He published very little, always reworking the texts he patiently prepared. In the field of Arab Literature, we only know of a single course by him, that remained a manuscript, on Maḥmūd Darwīsh’s work; but he had also started writing a History of Contemporary Arabic Literature that remained unfinished. Bernard Moussali had established himself as a well-informed amateur and a passionate listener of early 20th century Arab Music that he thought was more important to immerse oneself in than to analyse. Like Christian Poché or Frédéric Lagrange, he gave priority to archiving, particularly through 78rpm discs that reflected a period he considered to be unjustly forgotten. In this capacity, he contributed, with Christian Poché, to the first CD re-release of Arab Music records (Ocora, Arab World Institute, 1987). His research work mainly concerned the 1932 Cairo Congress of Arab Music. He had dedicated to this subject his master’s dissertation (1980) and was preparing on the same theme a doctorate thesis that was unfortunately interrupted because of his illness. Nevertheless, he participated to the re-release of a selection of 78rpm discs recorded in Cairo in 1932, once again with Christian Poché (IMA, Bnf, 1989). His uncompromising analysis of the debates of the Cairo Congress[1] had raised his awareness about he importance of the influence of Ottoman Music on its Arab counterpart during the last centuries, and he learned Turkish in order to better exploit these sources. He also often pointed out the essential role, ignored later on, of numerous minorities –Christians, Jews and others– as to the origins of “Arab Music”. Regarding the Egyptian hegemonism at the 1932 Congress, he brought out the historical contribution of Syria in the 18th and the 19th centuries. Bernard Moussali mainly published CD booklets, around twenty, including mostly audio archives, but also some live concerts, elevating the disc’s value to that of an anthology, thanks to his always precise erudition as well as to his passionate loquacity: a lyrical listener who knew how to steer himself in an era of statistics and technicity.

The Wellington-based quartet would often perform to capacity crowds at venues such as Quinn’s Post in Upper Hutt, The Cabana in Napier, Mainstreet, The Gluepot and Manukau Arms in Auckland. The group proved to be a powerful support act for Cold Chisel in 1982, at Wellington Town Hall. The biggest concert that ROSE BAYONET played was on the main stage at Sweetwaters Festival on January 28th, 1983 -- which was also one of their last gigs. There were reportedly over 35,000 attendees at the Festival. The group’s energetic live sets were comprised of mostly original material, with suitably heavy titles such as “Demon Rider”, “Let It Die”, “Headbanger”, “Tough Road”, “Six Feet Under”, “Hell on Earth”, “Predator” and several more. ROSE BAYONET performances were unforgettable and notoriously loud (the band took their own huge p.a. system on the road) with flash pot explosions, a great light show, obligatory dry ice and special effects, all added for good measure. ROSE BAYONET recorded an exciting selection of self-penned songs at EMI Studios in Wellington in 1982 (the group had no bass player at that point, so Stefan Lavington played all guitar and bass on the studio recordings). Their shot at the international heavy metal market didn’t eventuate though, as EMI NZ chose not to sign the band, despite their live performances being all the rage. After ROSE BAYONET split up, a couple of young RB fans (Shane Joyce & Stephen Britland) managed to get hold of the studio demo master tapes. Shane & Stephen used their own money to fund the release of the ROSE BAYONET LP, entitled ‘Leather and Chains’. (Four additional live tracks were added to the five studio cuts). It was issued onto the NZ market via Jayrem Records, with a sole pressing of only 500 copies. The very basic cover artwork, text errors and songwriting credit guess work left a lot to be desired, but at last ROSE BAYONET were finally documented on vinyl. The record is now highly collectable and sought after by avid metal fans worldwide, wanting to hear what Kiwi heavy rock was all about. A couple of other live ROSE BAYONET tracks also appeared on the similarly rare N.Z. compilation ‘Godzone Metal’ LP in 1983.

The origins of the band stem from an idea generated during correspondence between [a2373773] and [a740907] sometime in 2003, in which the two discussed starting a band. [a3418215] and [a1649155] from the bands [a262012] and [a650754] were enlisted, as was drummer [a652681] from Swedish band [a594752]. It wasn't until Kelly came to Stockholm in January of 2004 that the group met and had their initial practices in Stockholm's Slussen neighborhood. The band practiced and wrote at an intense pace during the next couple of weeks, and recorded their full-length LP at the end of the month. [a568018] ([a313397], [a277263], [a1046451] and many others) was initially brought in solely in the role of producer / engineer, but the band convinced him to lay down some guitar tracks, and, with the departure of Jocke due to a busy schedule, he became the bands' lead guitar player. Despite a lot of technical setbacks and logistical difficulties Suicide Blitz managed to complete the recordings and the LP came out in late 2004 on Germany's Hate records. CD and cassette versions were released as well, on Polish label Trująca Fala. During the band's short existence, they managed to play four live gigs in 2004: In Sandviken, Sweden on January 30, at the Umeå Punk Fest in Umeå, Sweden, on March 5, at the K-Town Festival in Copenhagen, Denmark, on June 25th, and at the Kopi in Berlin, Germany, on June 26th.

Search | Add | 4 | John Bult | John Bult wants to set the record straight. His one and only LP, Julie’s Sixteenth Birthday should have been his calling card to country music stardom. Instead the album has been singled out as the best of the worst – not for Bult’s singing abilities, but for its unfortunate cover art. “It still chaps me real bad,” he said. “The whole thing still makes me mad, even after all of these years.” In 1980, John Bult was playing gigs throughout his native Louisiana, when he met up with Howard Richard, an investor who liked Bult’s sound, and thought the Lake Charles crooner could hit the big time. “We went to Nashville, and had a meeting with Chet Atkins and Ray Stevens,” Bult said. “It was my chance to stick my foot in the door, but I didn’t. I was thinking about all of the things I would have to give up, like family. So I went back to Lake Charles.” Instead of giving up on the dream, Richard convinced Bult to record his music. So he paid for some studio time, and enlisted the help of Teddy Broussard to produce an album. But according to Bult, Broussard wanted a more hands-on involvement in the project—including the art concept of the album cover, and the selections of the songs. Broussard was himself a songwriter who had worked in Nashville, but he never achieved any notable success. With an eager, but admittedly naïve singer, he saw his opportunity to further his own dreams. “I guess the first mistake I made was not signing a contract with him,” Bult admitted. “When I was 19, I was under contract with the Temple Brothers in Fort Worth, with Soundtrack-Chevelle records. They had me record a bunch of crazy songs that weren’t country. They were never released. I didn’t want to sing anything but country, so I talked to an attorney, and he told me if I didn’t like what was going on, to leave, and go about my business. So I decided I would never sign another recording contract again.” Recorded at Master-Trak Sounds (in Crowley, LA), Bult, Broussard, and a half a dozen studio musicians and backing vocalists quickly recorded ten songs for his debut—five written by Broussard, including “Julie’s Sixteenth Birthday.” “Julie’s Sixteenth Birthday” tells the story of Jim, a guy who hangs out in bars, and enjoys a drink, or two, a little more than he should. He tells his friend Lou that he can’t stay at the bar long tonight, because his daughter Julie is turning 16 that very day, and going out on her first date. But Jim loses track of time, (and the number of beers he’s had), and proceeds to get behind the wheel of his car, where he hopes to speed back in time to see Julie off on her big night. As he reaches for a bottle of booze under the seat, he slams into an oncoming car. In the hospital, Jim learns that a young man was injured, and a teenaged girl died. Nobody sees the twist at the end of the song coming. “I said, ‘Lou, should I pass on, before she comes in, be sure and tell Julie how sorry I am for spoiling her birthday.” “He said ‘Jim, save your breath, because when you meet her in heaven, you can tell her yourself.’” After the recording, Broussard decided to title the album after his ode to paternal vehicular manslaughter. Bult says he was never consulted. We took a picture of me and my guitar, which I thought was going to be the cover,” he said. “But Ted met this girl at a restaurant, and asked her parents if he could use their daughter on the front of my album. The cover, shot at Pat O’Carroll’s Restaurant, in Lake Charles, shows Bult, sitting at a table, holding his wedding ring-adorned hand, with Kim Whitehead, a 16-year old, from Lake Charles. A half consumed beer is placed next to an ashtray, on a stained tablecloth. Behind them is a propped-up guitar, next to a piano. What was supposed to look like a living room, in a family home, looked more like a honky-tonk. “During the photo shoot, Ted kept telling her to look serious, like her dad is talking to her,” Bult said. “But she just kept looking sad to me.” When the final album was pressed, and Bult saw the finished product, he was livid. “I told him I didn’t like the look of it, one bit. Instead of looking like a dad and his daughter, it looks like some guy trying to pick up a chick in a bar. Nobody is going to know that is supposed to be Julie. I didn’t like it one bit.” To make matters worse, Bult provided Broussard with a biography for the liner notes, but instead of using the information, Broussard decided to fabricate the singer’s credentials—including a story of discovering Bult in shopping mall lounge. “That isn’t true—not at all. I’ve been performing for years. I played with Roy Head when I was 19 at Randy’s Rodeo, in San Antonio, and been on the Louisiana Hayride, before I even met Ted Broussard." An estimated 250 copies were pressed (DSR 4981), and Bult went on performing, almost forgetting about his debut recording. Then came the Internet. Sometime around 2003, a blogger stumbled upon the record, and dubbed it the worst album cover…ever. The trend to vilify the front cover art of LPs took off, with books by Nick DiFonzo (Worst Albums Cover Ever and Seriously Bad Album Covers) and websites Bizarre Records, LP Cover Lover, and Cover Browser, ranking Julie’s Sixteenth Birthday, and its questionable photograph, at the top of almost every “worst” list. The unique adulation for his 1980 album caught Bult completely off guard. “My sister-in-law was in Washington D.C., and she called me, and told me look it up, I couldn’t believe it.” On May 17, 2011, Ellen DeGeneres spotlighted the record on the Bad Album Covers segment of her daytime show. “When I saw that, I got chapped all over again. I e-mailed her, or whoever her handlers are, and I explained it all to them. I didn’t hear back from anyone.” Unbeknownst to Bult, in 1985, Ted Broussard re-released the album (Ra Chelle 12483 – minus the fabricated liner notes), and released a single of “Julie’s Sixteenth Birthday.” “I asked a couple of attorneys and a judge about him re-releasing the album like that, and not giving me any money. They asked if he made millions of dollars on it. I said he didn’t, and that was pretty much the end of that.” The scarcity of the album, coupled with the notoriety, has made Julie’s Sixteenth Birthday a “holy grail” addition for those who collect maligned album covers - with collectors paying upwards of $100 for sealed copies. John Bult now lives in southeastern Louisiana, where he is semi-retired from performing. In 2007 he recorded a CD, but never released it. “It was some old favorites, in different styles, like country and jazz. I was going to do an on-line thing, but I just didn’t get around to it.” Ted Broussard got out of the music business, and opened up a Mexican food restaurant. Bult says he rarely sees him, but when their paths cross he manages a dig, or two, about the album art. “If that were my daughter, I wouldn’t have let her on the cover.” Attempts to locate Kim Whitehead were unsuccessful.

Quickly they began recording and performing at shows throughout L.A. and Orange County. Finding a fan base that mostly consisted of other graff artists, but due to the never ending varieties in subject matter and political overtones, their appeal spread outside the grafitti realm. In 1997 Kosmic Four recorded their first full length independent release, in which the single "Writers Bench" was featured on D.J. ROB ONE'S "West Coast Indies" mixed tape. Kosmic Four has performed along side COOLIO, FREESTYLE FELLOWSHIP, LIVING LEGENDS, PLANET ASIA, BLACK EYED PEAS, DILATED PEOPLES, LOOT PACK, OMD, J-ZONE, VISIONARIES, MEDUSSA, PSYCHO REALM, BEAT JUNKIES among others. In 1998 Kosmic Four collaborated with YOTA ONE on his debut album EXPERIMENT 31 by the JEDEYES. Search | Add | 4 | Amembal Dinkarrao | Dinkar Amembal | D'Amel or Amembal Dinkarrao If alive, Amembal Dinkarrao or D'Amel (1909-1990) would have been 95 on September 24, 2004. Old time listeners of All India Radio would recall fondly his innumerable compositions used again and again as signature tunes. D'Amel is rightfully called as the Father of Orchestration of Hindustani classical music. It is necessary to differentiate in simple terms how difficult it must have been to set Indian or Hindustani classical themes, melodic and individualistic in nature in orchestration which is infact harmony based as is Western classical music. This very quality highlights the contributions of D'Amel. Though not trained in true Guru-Shishya Parampara in 'Gharana' style on one to one basis, D'Amel was a master craftsman when it came to orchestration. Have you heard of a conductor of musical ensemble without his baton leading the group as it were to its ultimate climax? Have you heard of a lead conductor being a part of the orchestration holding and playing a metal flute providing impeccable listening pleasure? D'Amel did this feat successfully from 1935 to 1966 on All India Radio Bombay Station for over 30 years! Born in Guwahati (North-East tip of India) D'Amel belonged to South Kanara Chitrapur community. He was a singer, harmonium player and conductor of Indian ensemble all rolled into one. Another oddity was he was little hard of hearing and in his later years he had turned totally stone-deaf. V.K. Narayan Menon, a musicologist, Indian Dance Expert and Founder Director of Prestigious National Centre of Performing Arts called him "Beethoven of India". Greatness of D'Amel lies in his expressive way of simplifying Raga music which even a novice could understand. A whole new generation in Independent India was brought up on his music could differentiate raga music from one melody to another. True to the motto of All India Radio, he propogated good music to common radio listeners. In 1947 with Independence came a ban on 'harmonium' - a foreign instrument with French reeds. Though this was a setback, it did not deter D'Amel. He took up simple metal flute and even presented full length events on All India Radio Bombay. He led a life of a saint steeped into spiritualism and ended his life like a Yogi in 1990. Biography by Prakash Burde, September 2005 |
