Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 5 Macgaren Gabriel With a strong influence of some of the pioneering genres of electronic dance music, The House music, this new artist believes that his inspirations arise not only from legacy of artists from the past, but also from movies, books and people who are part of his life trajectory. On his latest productions Macgaren brings with himself a contemporary approach to House Music, uniting the traditional lease of tones and vocals, with new harmonies, basslines and melodies that transcend between the genres, leading the listener to an imaginary journey between Chicago, Detroit and Berlim. Experienced Music Producer, was recorded and produced other artists in his studio, working tirelessly on his new timbers, melodies and arrangements to become his sonority increasingly unique and striking. New insights, hypnotic grooves and great mobility on the dance floor is what everyone waiting in he new performances. Sincerity with his essence, respect with the felling of dance floor and humility on his walking are one of his best features.

Search Add 5 Emirra It was difficult to approach the 'feeling' and the brilliance of the songs of his old companions in Duncan Dhu, but the project of Juan Ramón Viles (ex-drummer of the aforementioned group) and his cousin Emilio Facal (guitar and choirs) also distills that love for simple music without shrillness. After the disagreements he had with Vasallo and Erentxun for the name of the band, he embarks on Emirra composing and putting the voice for a single album that bears the title of "Agua y Barro" (Water and Mud).

Search Add 5 Rebelhot rebelHot is a 4 piece band absolutely soaked in rootsy 70’s Rock influences. A mix of rock, blues, and funk you can’t miss. Since releasing their debut album back in 2016, featuring Jason Patterson from Cry of Love as special guest and mastered by Alessadro Del Vecchio, rebelHot have already toured and also played at festivals around Europe with artists like Y&T, The Darkness, Joe Lynn Turner, The Quireboys, Autograph, Skinny molly and many others. Their long awaited new album “Uncomfortableness” will be released worldwide on October the 12th 2018 via Metalapolis records and will feature 10 brand new songs plus an exclusive bonus track on the Vinyl edition. “Uncomfortableness” has been produced by rebelHot, recorded, mixed and mastered at their own P-Rose Studio by guitarist Paul Mainetti. The band recorded the majority of the album live directly in the studio mixing console and they’re very proud of this rough old style result. No digital effects or overdubs were used and it sounds live just like the 70s albums you're used to. The new album has been enriched with some bluesy sounds like harmonica and female choirs in a few songs, while still maintaining that funky power and those Southern sounds typical of the band.

Search Add 5 Chris Chalfant Chris Chalfant, born September 10, 1960, Akron, OH; Composer, director, pianist, vocalist, artist, author, and poet; Noted for her unique style as a creative artist, Chris Chalfant is a lyrical, rhythmically compelling, and powerful, innovative driving force in the world of jazz, new and improvised music. Her prolific output of composition and improvisation (over 400 works) draws largely from traditional music of Africa, Hungary and India, as well as from American folk music, jazz and classical music. Critics have compared her music and playing to a wide range of artists: Andrew Hill, Charles Ives, McCoy Tyner, Mal Waldron, Cecil Taylor, Bud Powell, Stravinsky, Don Pullen, Keith Jarrett, Webern, Meredith Monk, Thelonious Monk and a Buddhist monk. She draws from nature, poetry and dance with a strong sense of counterpoint and polyrhythm, resulting in non-ordinary phrasings, tonal structures and rhythmic layerings. Her work is both simple and complex at the same time, where she will take a simple children’s tune and create an expressionistic multi-tonal, multi-rhythmic contrapuntal composition or improvisation. Chalfant has a strong melodic sense as well as a feeling of tranquility in much of her work. Her keen sense of moment-to-moment movement in her composition and improvisation is supported by her training in Buddhism and Aikido, where “living under the blade” results in an unshakable fearlessness, confidence and a path of truth.

Search Add 5 The Three Strangers The Three Strangers was a South Philadelphia group that had been in a studio several times prior to this under a variety of names. Salome (pronounced Sah-loam) Bey (not to be confused with a female singer of the same name from the Bey Sisters), Ike Smith, Melvin Wright, Heywood Royster, and John “Buck” McLaughlin formed the Daytons, named after a popular style of shoe, when they were attending Barrett Junior High School. They debuted on the local Norgolde imprint (best known for the Revels’ “Midnight Stroll”) in 1959 with the doo-wop ballad “King Of Broken Hearts” and a rocking “Friday Better Come.” They pared it down to Salome, Melvin, and Ike when they cut “He’s A Bum” and “Hi Diddle Diddle” for producers John Madara and David White in the autumn of 1964 as the Three Jokers. The single was issued on Mercury before year’s end. The Three Strangers name came when the trio hooked up with producers Leroy Lovett and Frank Bendinelli to release a very Impressions-influenced ballad, “I’ll Be Alright,” and “Little Boy Blue” (both co-penned by Huff) in early ’66 on ABC-Paramount. Gamble and Huff wrote and produced a delightful throwback for the trio at Frantic, Arctic's subsidiary label. Bey moved to Chester, Pennsylvania in ’71, and in 1976 launched the Eastern Standard Band, which performed on the casino circuit for decades. Versatility remained his motto until his passing a few years ago. “In recent years, he was in a reggae-based group, and then after that he was doing Nat King Cole tribute show,” according to Philly guitarist Bobby Eli.

Search Add 5 Martin van Maële Maurice François Alfred Martin van Miële Maurice Martin van Miële (12 October 1863, Boulogne-Billancourt — 5 September 1926, Varennes-Jarcy), professionally known as Martin van Maële, was a French illustrator, particularly notable for his explicit and exacerbated drawings for erotic literature. He extensively collaborated with Charles Carrington in Paris, a leading erotica publisher, illustrating books by [a=Anatole France], [a=Paul Verlaine]'s La Trilogie érotique, and Apulée's L'Âne d'or. Maële created art for other antique and Renaissance authors, like [a=Ovid], [a=François Beroalde De Verville], [a=Pierre Choderlos de Laclos], and [a=Denis Diderot], and his contemporaries, including [a648094] under the "Sadinet" pseudonym, [a=Charles Baudelaire]'s pioneering French translations of [a=Edgar Allan Poe], or Aventures Extraordinaires by [a=Sir Arthur Conan Doyle]. Since many of Martin van Maële's works depict minors, partially or fully naked and engaged in frivolous activities, his name regularly comes up in contemporary discussions about the legal and moral status of virtual depictions of nude minors, particularly historically or artistically significant images. In April 2010, one of [a=Wikipedia]'s co-founders, Larry Sanger, published his letter to the FBI, accusing [a=Wikimedia Commons] of hosting "child pornography;" he specifically chose a selection of Maële's graphics and "Lolicon" category as two glaring examples.

Prior releases include 1995's Superlux Records "Happiness Is A One Trick Pony/Crying Is Shaped Like A Seahorse", 2000's Crank Automotive "They Must be Clapping For...Me", and 2006’s 2 self-released albums "Narrow Miss On The Chamber Pot" and "/....//../..//” (pronounced, “Grey Goose & a Whole Lotta Hydro”).
