Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Aïcha Mint Chighaly Born in 1962 in Kaedi, Aïcha Mint Chighaly is the daughter of Yuba al-Mokhtar ould Chighaly, who was one of the most well-known griots of the last century. The Chighaly family originates from the border area with Senegal, but in 1982 went to live in Nuakchott. Aïcha owes a great deal of the solid reputation that she enjoys in her own country to her abilities as a singer and player of the ardin harp, but also to the family heritage of music and poetry. She is always accompanied by her band made up of her brothers and her sister-in-law, who all studied with her father. She has participated in many local festivals and launched her international career in 1996 with her first CD, Griote de Mauritanie, in the Inedit collection of the Maison des Cultures du Monde in Paris. She has toured many countries in Europe, Africa, the Gulf and in Japan. In Morocco she has appeared at festivals in Assilah, Agadir and Rabat. She is the sister of [a3911142] and [a11168108] and sister-in-law of [a11168111].

Search Add 2 Whoredom Rife Emissary Whoredom Rife Emissary is a sub-project under the banner of Whoredom Rife. According to the bands Bandcamp page: "The aim is to display a more low-key side to the band, and to appeal to the listener in a different way. The idea is that both projects can interact with each other, yet stand on their own. As the name suggests, Emissary is a solo project on behalf of Whoredom Rife, but with the same names and ideas involved."

Search Add 2 Julie Lavender Originally from Chicago, Illinois, as a child, Julie studied piano and classical guitar. Later, she played steel guitar but developed her musical skills primarily as a singer. Her style artfully blends pop with touches of classical music structures and jazzy suggestions. As a songwriter, she draws upon her life experiences, many of which reflect her home environment as a child and her adult life as wife and mother. Her repertoire is an intriguing blend of her own compositions, pop, jazz and classical music. After spending some years resident in Southern California, where she played concerts in Los Angeles and the San Diego area, in the early 2000s, Lavender relocated to the New England states.
