Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025
Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 4 | M'am Berthiaume | Irène Laplante | Canadian (Quebec) country & western / folk / traditional singer-songwriter and author from the Beauce region born in 1918 and died in 1999. She composes and sings folk songs for all circumstances (golden wedding, church, dance parties, etc.) and has a collection of more than 500 songs of her compositions. Note that all his songs are engraved in his head. One day, a certain Mr. Gagné from Laval University came to find her to get her songs from yesteryear in order to keep them in the archives. Without any papers, she recorded 159 songs for him. "It was a pleasure for me," she said. Then Radio-Canada came to meet her to interview her and sing her songs. There seemed to be a lot of interest in his rich talent. Soon after, an artist from the Bonanza company came to meet her and made her understand that she would end up losing everything if she continued not to want to sing on television. Born in Ste-Marie de Beauce or St-Elzéar de Beauce. |

Search | Add | 4 | Spirit, Inc. | Spirit, Inc. was an ecumenical youth group organized in 1970 by Thomas A. Downs, a religious education coordinator for the Catholic Diocese of Davenport, Iowa. Although the group was inspired by the non-profit organization Up With People, Spirit, Inc. was Downs’ own invention. At the peak of its popularity in the early 1970s, Spirit, Inc. had between 70 and 80 members with a waiting list. The current membership is reported to be in the 20s. Founder Tom Downs began several similar groups, including a young Indiana-based vocal ensemble known as The We Together Singers, who released an album on the Staff record label around the same time Spirit, Inc. released their "Alive" LP on the same label. Several other offshoot groups were organized by people who borrowed Downs’ idea. Spirit, Inc. appears to be one of the few such groups which is still active.

Search | Add | 4 | William P. Young | William Paul Young | Young is the oldest of four, born May 11, 1955, in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada, but the majority of his first decade was lived with his missionary parents in the highlands of Netherlands New Guinea (West Papua), among the Dani, a central highlands people of western New Guinea. These became his family and as the first white child and outsider who ever spoke their language, he was granted unusual access into their culture and community. When he was six he was sent to a boarding school. Young originally wrote primarily as a way to create unique gifts for his friends, until his wife repeatedly urged him to write something for their six children in order to put down in one place his perspectives on God and on the inner healing Young had experienced as an adult. The resulting manuscript, which later became The Shack, was intended only for his six kids and for a handful of close friends. Young initially printed just 15 copies of his book. Two of his close friends encouraged him to have it published, and assisted with some editing and rewriting in order to prepare the manuscript for publication. After rejection by 26 publishers, Young and his friends published the book under the name of their newly created publishing company, Windblown Media, in 2007. The company spent only C$200 in advertising; word-of-mouth referrals eventually drove the book to number one on the New York Times trade paperback fiction best-seller list in June 2008. "The Shack" was the top-selling fiction and audio book of 2008 in America through November 30. Young's second book, Cross Roads, was published on November 13, 2012 by FaithWords. Young's Eve was released on September 15, 2015 by Howard Books. Young's latest book, Lies We Believe About God, released March 7, 2017. Like The Shack, it has been the subject of theological criticism. One critic, Tim Challies, says Young is a universalist, teaching that everyone is saved. |

Search | Add | 4 | Open Circle Party | "...its 'Open Circle Party' because a party is a celebratory gathering as well as a social or political force... and its a circle - well, anything is really - but its an 'open circle' in the sense that both the music and the band are open-ended and participation, improvisation and chance are encouraged and invited... this present album is a studio project by the two of us, but we are organising performances for which the band will expand to six or seven members and hopefully some form of that expanded line-up will feature on the next album so, yeah, its really an ongoing 'open circle party'..." "...the album has two extended tracks that are like two sides on an old vinyl album... its not too long an album by current CD standards, but its about the same length as the 'Love Supreme' album by John Coltrane or Santana's 'Abraxas' or an old Nick Drake or Beatles album or whatever... and we like 'side-long' tracks that get into a mood or a groove and stay there for a good while, like Fela or Ali Akbar Khan or electric Miles Davis, music that changes constantly with subtle variations and which feels like it can go off in any direction at any given moment, like life, like sex..." "...each of the two pieces on the album is based on a live, solo performance which was then developed and manipulated in various ways... the basis for the first part is an electric guitar feedback improvisation in an altered tuning, and the second is based on a rhythm performed on Indian tabla drums... each initial performance, the guitar feedback and the tabla groove, went on for about 17 minutes and was recorded in one take, and the album grew organically from that simple foundation... by overdubbing we played along with the basic tracks with no preconception or plans, and when we agreed that something sounded interesting we worked with it... the process was completely free and improvisational and for that reason exciting and engaging for us as the composer/performers because we never knew how it would turn out..." - from an interview with Chris Basile in Melbourne.

Search | Add | 4 | Ralph Yaw | Ralph Percy Yaw | American composer and arranger. Born 22 October 1898 in Berkshire, Franklin, Vermont Died Died 25 Apr 1963 at age 64 in Kern, California. He wrote arrangements for a great many swing-era bandleaders during the 1930s and 1940s. He co-wrote some songs with poet/lyricist [a6410373]. Yaw is best-known for his work with Stan Kenton. When he was about 28 and Kenton was 15, Yaw met Kenton and introduced him to the recordings of Earl Hines and Louis Armstrong. Yaw wrote and arranged for Kenton beginning in the early 1940s. Kenton put together his first band in 1941; from the beginning, it was an "arranger's band" and Yaw took advantage. He was (along with Kenton himself) responsible for much of that early band's book, arranging and composing dozens of original pieces for the band, including the notable "Two Moods." Yaw often refused compensation because he knew money for the band was tight, and he enjoyed writing for a band with which he felt so much accord. |

The first concert, featuring Christmas Carols, was held in 1950 and was followed by others in Washington, D.C., Carnegie Holl, Madison Square Garden, many of which were broadcast by radio stations. In 1959 "Dumka" became a mixed chorus, and it is in this form that it performed extensively in Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, Philadelphia, Toronto and Montreal. Former chorus directors were Messrs. A. Bernyk, L. Krushelnycky, (first director), O. Mykytiuk, I. Sonevychy, R. Stepaniak, I. Zadorozny, I. Zukowsky. The chorus takes its name from the Ukrainian word "dumka", which means epic folk song, a form popular in the 16th through 18th centuries. The "Dumka" chorus is presently performing under the direction of Semen Komirsky. Mr. Komirsky studied music in Lviv (Ukraine), and was graduated from Uzhorod Music College (Ukraine) as an instructor in vocal music and choral conducting.

Search | Add | 4 | Mike Korman | Vocalist, guitarist, producer. Born and raised in Hoboken, New Jersey, MIKE KORMAN has made a musical comeback. Guitarist in the 1980’s Hoboken band “GUT BANK”, KORMAN stopped playing music in 1987 to pursue a career in his hometown, working at City Hall. “I was inspired by reform Mayor Tom Vezzetti to serve in government”. Still working for the City of Hoboken, KORMAN has begun exploring music again. “For 20 years I didn’t pick up a guitar. But in 2007, I bought a used acoustic guitar at a flea market and began playing some old riffs - then applying some lyrics I had written years ago." The result was a collection of new recordings - a 2012 solo album “HOBOKEN ROCKS”. KORMAN has an audio engineering background. He records and produces all his own music and plays all the instruments. “What I am doing now is way beyond me just playing guitar in a band. “I’m creating my own songs, singing for the 1st time and loving it, performing better than I ever have in the past. I put a lot of work in the process and it’s enjoyable.” KORMAN played guitar with several groups during the 1980’s post-punk scene in New York City and played a part in the famed “Hoboken Sound” with GUT BANK. KORMAN was a member of the 1983 Lower East Side group “THE KEEPER” (Slum Goddess Records), made up of band members Michael Goglia, the early drummer of psychedelic garage rockers “THE FUZZTONES”, vocalist Parker Dulany of NYC‘s overlooked “CERTAIN GENERAL” and Tommy Victor, founder of longtime industrial metal band “PRONG”, who played bass at the time. KORMAN also played in the NYC groups “MISTAKEN IDENTITY” and “NO THANKS”, both part of the underground post-punk scene during the early 1980’s. GUT BANK, which toured often garnering a large fan base, enjoyed success from 1985 leading up to its 1987 album release “THE DARK AGES” (Twin\Tone, Coyote Records), produced by Roger Miller of MISSION OF BURMA, and often opened for HUSKER DU and the MEAT PUPPETS. Following the release of "HOBOKEN ROCKS" in 2012, KORMAN continued recording new songs, with a 2nd album "LIBERTY REIGN", released in January 2015.

It traces its roots in December of 1991 when a group of musicians started to schedule concerts in their spare time and receiving for that a formal appreciation by the Minister of the Culture of the Republic of Latvia, composer Raimonds Pauls. On January 3rd of 1992 — also in order to substitute the old Band of the Baltic Military District (Baltijas kara apgabala štāba pūtēju orķestris) that was a Military Band of the Soviet Army then stationed in Latvia — the orchestra began to work officially as the Orchestra of the Latvian National Armed Forces. Its first CD "Latvijas Republikas Nacionālo bruņoto spēku Ceremoniju mūzika" was released on February 15th of 1999; the second CD "Impresijas" had been released in 2001 and the third CD "Dziesmu Saule" has been released on June 2007. The Orchestra of the Latvian National Armed Forces participates into many International Military Festivals in many countries such as Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom. The orchestra performs at all official state ceremonies and protocol events for foreign diplomats. |
