Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 29/07/2025
Found 602638 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 5 | Charivari Trio | The Charivari Trio was established in 1986 and initially played a broad repertory of folk music. Gradually, the trio developed a special preference for gipsy and Latin American music. Between 1989 and 1995, the trio formed the heart of tango orchestra Nachtschade and klezmer group Kalarash. Since 1992, various composers such as Joop van Erven, Dolf de Kinkelder, Michiel Braam, and Joep Everts, were commissioned to write new repertory. The trio organizes the yearly Charivarifestival with concerts and workshops for amateur musicians. After ten years of Charivari, a selection of their repertory appeared on the CD Romance de Barrio. Subsequently, Hora Sentimental was delivered, a collage of traditional and new Eastern European music. The CD ¡ABRE! consists of a mixture of Latin American and gipsy music. The Charivari Trio took part in several theater productions, such as Ethisch Reveil, after a text by Dirkje Kuik, with theater group InDependance (1986) , Liefdesportretten, with music by Andries van Rossem and with De Plaats (1998), and GILGAMESH, with actor Frank Groothof and with Stichting Vrije Val (2002-2003).

Search | Add | 5 | George Skrbina | George Skrbina was a Croatian American tamburitza muscian. He was born in Pupolica, Croatia (then part of Austria-Hungary) in 1906. As a child he was fascinated with tamburitza music, but being of limited financial means, his interest was nothing more than a dream. Having an agile and very imaginative mind, George devised a means of financing a tambura. He commandeered the services of two very productive chickens, whose eggs he sold. Before long, he had enough money in his treasury to purchase a tambura. He had to walk eight miles to buy it, but he had realized his dream. With this determination and background there was no way George was to be an ordinary tamburas. He practiced every minute he had available and became an outstanding musician. George came to the United States at the tender age of 14 and settled in Youngstown in 1929, where he immediately joined a band consisting of himself, Dave Zupkovich, Steve Belish, Matt Nenkovich, and Pete Vladkovich. His travels took him to Detroit, where he met Steve Pavlekovich and a life-long friendship developed. From here, as his abilities ascended, he went to New York, where he joined the Banat tamburitza band, a premier band at that time. In Youngstown, George formed the Balkan Serenaders, also a top band in that era and locality. George's appearances on TV and radio were many in the Ohio/Pennsylvania area. Over the years George taught many youngsters, including the Markulin brothers, Lou, Steve, and Tony, his son Rudy, and Libby Fill, the female all-time outstanding tamburas. George performed with many outstanding tamburasi. Among them are Steve Pavlekovich, Markulin Brothers, Dave Zupkovich, Johnny Krizancic, Mel Evanovich, Pete Radakovich, Marty Kapugi, and Joe Marmilich. George transposed many of the older songs which were composed in 4/4 or 3/4 time to 2/4 time, which produced a more lively type of music. The transition was very well accepted by many of the top bands in the country. Using the chromatic scale, he introduced to tamburitza the cello, which gave tambura music a much greater depth of tone. This addition to tambura music was accepted by many bands and is being used more and more today. George's contribution did not stop here. It was George who introduced the idea of tamburasi playing in a standing position rather being seated. This innovation permitted the performers to mingle with the audience, which, of course, is enjoyed by music lovers of all nations. Let us not forget that this idea made possible the tamburasi playing at the bar. Where do you see more enjoyment than the competition at the bar for the honor of 'treating' the performers? There are thousands of individuals who were fortunate to have enjoyed this gentleman's countless hours of performing, many times far into the wee hours of the morning. He, in turn, enjoyed nothing more than to see people enjoying his presentations. George's dedication to the preservation and promotion of tambura music certainly warrants his appointment to the Tamburitza Hall of Fame with the many others so honored.

Search | Add | 5 | Turk Kincheloe | Stuart G. Kincheloe | The Turk Kincheloe Quartet was a jazz ensemble. The band was led by a pianist, Stuart G. Kincheloe (born April 13, 1931), who at this time was going as Turk Kincheloe; his guitarist, bassist, and drummer have not been identified. Six tracks were laid down at his session in October. Two contrasting sides saw release on Vee-Jay 143, a tough record to find today. "Modern Trend," as the title suggested, was a fluent bop number featuring Kincheloe's piano. "The Cash Box" was squarely aimed at the jukebox market; Kincheloe played organ with one hand and piano with the other, on a blues with a whomping backbeat. Vee-Jay soon turned to Tommy Dean for this kind of material, but when the company's Abner subsidiary was revived in 1962, its first release in the 7000 series was a couple of R&B instrumentals probably intended for use as interludes on the radio. "The Cash Box" fit right in, even though it was 8 years older than the Bill Sheppard number it was paired with. Kincheloe accompanied The Dells on their "Oh What a Nite" session (May 1956) and recorded another jazz session for Vee-Jay in July 1956, this time as a member of Duke Groner's aggregation. By the early 1960s, he had changed his marquee name to Kirk Stuart and was still leading jazz combos in the Chicago area. By the mid-1960s he had relocated to Los Angeles. For years, Stuart led a trio that backed singers, notably Sarah Vaughan and Joe Williams, but he also worked as an arranger and in other jazz bands, notably that of Al Grey. |

Search | Add | 5 | Hans Peter Neergård | Hans Peter Neergård (born 1957) grew up in Vatne, a small village on the west coast of Norway. His parents were very active in music, and they were always singing and playing in the house. Hans Peter started playing the piano as soon as he was tall enough to reach the keys, and made his own small melodies from an early age. He often tried to recreate the music he heard on radio, but also received classical piano training. He learned the foundational piano technique these years, but never enjoyed playing by scores. It was more fun to play freely, to play what you heard, or learn the music by ear. Hans Peter also picked up the saxophone, first through the local marching band, but later at several jazz seminars at Molde, a small city known for its jazz festivals. He soon understood that reading scores was important even in jazz music, it helped the musicians communicate. One of the first songs Hans Peter put down on paper was from this period: «Kaktus» from ’78. Later Hans Peter Neergård composed more music and wrote more scores. His compositions are often related to jazz, both rhythmically and harmonically, but can also be traced back to Nordic folk music. He composed for piano, saxophone quartet and orchestras, and many of the songs were performed by local bands and musicians. Six of the songs on this LP were released in the score book «My rhythmic piano», self-released by Hans Peter in 1997. In addition to releasing written scores, Neergård often dreamt about putting some of his music on a record to allow more people to hear it. He’s had his music scores on the shelves for years, but in January 2022 he gathered the courage to record 12 of his own songs in the local studio on a Steinway grand piano. Hans Peter Neergård is the father of [a3317509] and [a9449920].

Search | Add | 5 | Djoko Dokich | George Dokich | Tamburitza player (b. October 20, 1889 Tuk, Srem District, Vojvodina, Serbia [then Austria Hungary] – December 24, 1944 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) Born in a small village in a multi-ethnic part of what is now Serbia, "Djoko" Dokich played the prim and the brač. In August 1913, he emigrated to the United States, where he settled in Pittsburgh and became one of the founders of the popular Tamburitza Orchestra "Jorgovan". In 1975, he was inducted into the Tamburitza Association of America's Hall of Fame. His TAA Hall of Fame eulogy runs, as follows: The life story of the late Djoko Dokich reveals the great part that perseverance and determination played in altering his life, thereby enabling him to pursue his chosen field in music and marking him as one of the all-time greats in the annals of tamburitza culture. Born in Selo Tuk, in the province of Srem, Yugoslavia, Djoko's father wanted his son to follow in his footsteps as a farmer, but fate plays mysterious tricks. After a gallant try, Djoko left the farm and soon was wending his way to America. In 1909, Djoko was entertaining with the greats in the world of tambura in the United States, playing in the original Jorgovan Orchestra and enjoying it with musicians such as Baich, Deda Petrovich, Elijah Miskovich, Pete Perez, Skornjak, Jim Kovacevic and the great violinist Zerbes (a fact which probably inspired him to have his son Melvin study and become one of tamburitza's great violinists). Djoko toured with his orchestra all over the country and was on many of the vaudeville circuits. In the late twenties, Djoko Dokich's arrangements started to make an impact. Arranging for large tambura groups, it was he who made it possible for tamburasi to play selections like Mozart's "Magic Flute", the Poet and Peasant Overture, Enesco's entire "Romanian Rhapsody" by Franz Liszt and many others equally as great. A pioneer in the early recordings, Djoko Dokich recorded some 100 records and for those who are fortunate to have one or two, they are collector's items. His original recording of "Kukavica" showed his talent for arranging. With a clever arrangement, he turned an average song into a winner. Always a gentlemen respected by his peers, Djoko excelled on first Brac, but was proficient on all the instruments that make up a full compliment of a tamburitza orchestra. He also had a fine, strong tenor voice with a fantastic range. In the early 1930s, the Dokichs were living in the Pittsburgh area. Here Djoko taught music and continued his playing. By now a certain youngster was being groomed and in a few short years was to become heir apparent. Young Melvin (Milovan) Dokich and father became a familiar sight and sound for years to come until World War II ended an era. During an emergency furlough from the service of his country, a strange quirk of fate befell young Dokich. Visiting his critically ill mother, he substituted a playing engagement for his father so that the elder Dokich could attend to his wife. Midway through the performance Mel received a phone call informing him of a death in the family. Knowing the severity of his mother's illness, he assumed his mother had passed away only to hear the voice on the line repeat "Your father has died". December 1944, Djoko Dokich was laid to rest in Cleveland, Ohio, thus bringing to a close the colorful career of a great musician, who overcame many obstacles to follow his heart's desire. Spiritually, Djoko Dokich is still with us. He lives through his great arrangements and the inspirational musicianship of his son, Melvin Dokich. |

They were led by Mose Braziel, nicknamed “Pop” who was the owner and manager. A 10 member touring band, they travelled and played all of the southern states. Pop passed away in 1969 and the band recorded their third and final recording at a small central Florida recording studio some time in the very early '70s. 'Look Out (I'm Gonna Blow Your Mind)' b/w 'Mother Duck' was self-financed and self-released, and poor distribution means the record remains extremely elusive to this day. They continued to play into the late '70s but as members would drop out, get married and replacements became harder to recruit, they finally decided to part ways once and for all.

Search | Add | 5 | D. R. Bendre | Dattatreya Ramachandra Bendre | Dattatreya Ramachandra Bendre (31 January 1896 – 26 October 1981), popularly known as Da. Ra. Bendre, was a Kannada poet of the Navodaya Period. He was given the honorific Varakavi ('the gifted poet-seer'). Bendre was awarded the Jnanapita for his 1964 poetry collection, ನಾಕು ತಂತಿ (Naaku Tanti). Bendre published most of his work as ಅಂಬಿಕಾತನಯದತ್ತ (Ambikatanayadatta; lit. Datta, son of Ambika). Often mistaken for a pseudonym in the Western sense, Bendre described Ambikatanayadatta as the "universal inner voice" within him that dictated what he (Bendre) then presented in Kannada to the world. He was recognized as the Karnataka Kavi Kula Thilaka ("The crown-jewel among Kannada Poets") by the Udupi Adamuru Matha. He was also awarded the Padma Shri in 1968 and made a fellow of the Sahitya Akademi in 1969. |

Search | Add | 5 | The Moscow Male Jewish Choir "Hasidic Cappella" | The Male Choir of Cantorial Art Academy was established in 1989 with personal support from Mikhail Gorbachev, then president of the USSR, and assistance from the Russian Jewish Community and JOINT, an American Jewish charity. In 1998 the choir was renamed the Hassidic Cappella and based at the Moscow Maryina Roshcha Jewish Community. Since 2012 until preset time The Moscow Male Jewish Cappella is working under the support of The Russian Jewish Congress and The State Classical Maimonides Academy. The choir's singers are all professional musicians - students and teachers at Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory and other leading musical institutes in the capital who have performed in the city's most acclaimed choral groups. They are united by their commitment to introducing listeners to the beauty of Jewish liturgical and cantorial music -- music that has been forgotten and remains unknown to even the most educated lovers of music. The choir's extensive repertory includes Jewish liturgical music, songs in Yiddish and Hebrew, Russian folk songs, and classics of world music. The choir is one of the few recognized professional Jewish academic musical groups in the world and the only one in Russia. Guided by the deep and ancient traditions of both Jewish and Russian professional choral singing, the choir is reviving the art of Jewish choral and vocal music, demonstrating at every performance that the riches of Jewish culture are an inalienable part of Russia's multi-national tradition and world culture. Audiences always respond enthusiastically to Jewish liturgical music, entranced by its originality, unusual beauty and harmonies. For most concert-goers, this is uncharted musical territory. This music appeared in the early and mid-19th century in the countries of Eastern Europe and Western Russia, but it virtually disappeared after the 1917 revolution. Only in the second half of the 20th century did its revival begin. The choir has performed in countless Russian cities, in the former Soviet republics, and in 13 foreign countries. Performances are held in Jewish community venues, but also on the stages of the most prestigious concert halls in Russia and abroad. The group has performed in all three halls of the Moscow Conservatory (the Small, Grand and Rakhmaninov Halls); the Hall of Columns of the House of Trade Unions; the Academy of Music and Carl Orff Hall in Munich; the Theatron Yerushalayim in Jerusalem; and Lincoln Center in New York. Wherever they have performed, audiences and critics have responded with accolades. The choir has performed before the presidents of Russia, the USA, Poland, and Israel. Three times the group was honored to give concerts before the royal families of Denmark, Sweden and Norway on the anniversary of the Danish rescue operation of Jews during World War II. The Hassidic Cappella also takes part in many events organized by Russian state, cultural and concert organizations and the Russian Jewish Community. For many years the Hassidic Cappella has had the honor to give subscription concerts with the Moscow State Philharmonic in the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. The choir has performed many times with renowned Russian and foreign symphony orchestras under the direction of Arnold Katz, Mark Gorenshteyn, Yuri Bashmet, Roman Kofman and Zubin Mehta, with such acclaimed soloists as Mikhail Alexandrovich, Nehama Lifshits, Joseph Kabzon, and Joseph Malovany, the chief cantor of the Fifth Avenue Synagogue in New York. The choir founder and artistic director, Alexander Tsaliuk, has directed more than 800 concerts and participated in countless international festivals and competitions. The choir has recorded five CDs and two films. Universal Music released and distributed two CDs and one DVD. In an interview to the newspaper Izvestiya in 2000, the cantor Joseph Malovany said: "I know that Russians have big hearts and they are a wonderful audience to perform to warm, grateful and knowledgeable. It's a delight to sing before them. On this trip I plan to give two concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg. I'll be performing with the Hassidic Cappella, which is, in my view, the best Jewish musical group in the world."

Search | Add | 5 | The Saltire Music Group | The Saltire Music Group was a Scottish chamber music ensemble based in Edinburgh and co-founded in 1950 by composer and violinist [a=Isobel Dunlop] (1901—1975) and German opera conductor [a=Hans Oppenheim] (1892—1965). In 1951, the collective was expanded by a vocal quartet, [a=The Saltire Singers]. The project began under The Saltire Society auspices, a community established in 1936 to disseminate the country's cultural heritage ("saltire" in the name stands for the St. Andrew's Cross, a national symbol on the Flag of Scotland). Isobel Dunlop joined the Saltire Society circa 1948 after serving as the [l=Scottish Arts Council]'s Assistant National Officer for five years. She soon decided to organize an early music ensemble, and the Society invited a notable opera conductor of Jewish origins, Hans Oppenheim, who has lived in Great Britain since 1934, fleeting Nazi persecution in his homeland Germany. Following the debut concert series in late 1950 at Gladstone's Land, a 17th-century house in Edinburgh's Old Town and the Saltire Society's headquarters, the Saltire Music Group embarked on the second season. The ensemble featured professional and amateur musicians and performed a broad repertoire, from old English songs to new works commissioned by contemporary Scottish composers, plus vocal and instrumental pieces by Isobel Dunlop. They regularly participated in the [l=Edinburgh Festival] and produced several albums on [l=Columbia].

Search | Add | 5 | Zélie de Lussan | Zélie de Lussan | Mezzo-soprano, born 21. December 1861 in Brooklyn/New York, died 18. December 1949 in London. Zélie was an American opera singer of French descent who was successful in her native country but made most of her career in England. The wide range of her voice allowed her to sing both mezzo-soprano and soprano roles. Among de Lussan's most famous roles was the title role in Bizet's Carmen, which she performed 2,000 times. She appeared with Sir Thomas Beecham's opera companies, at Covent Garden and with the Carl Rosa Opera Company. After retiring from the stage she made her home in London, where she continued to teach.
