Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Steve Garchar b. November 12, 1928, Struthers, OH. d. August 2, 2020, Struthers, OH. When Cleveland-Style polkas were at their peak after World War II, Steve Garchar was the standard-bearer in the Penn-Ohio arena, leading his orchestra virtually every night of the week and performing live on area radio stations. Playing the accordion since age ten, Steve formed his first band in high school and, pursuing music full-time, came to dominate the Youngstown/Sharon polka scene. The Steve Garchar Orchestra recorded for Coral records, releasing hit singles including "Jolly Time Polka," "Blue Mountain Waltz," "Highland Polka" and "Bridge Street Waltz." Steve continued performing during his stint in the service and reorganized his band for a short time afterward during the 1950s. Active in the promotion of Cleveland-Style polkas ever since, Steve again regrouped his orchestra in 1991 and has returned to the recording studio.

Bass player Howard James was formerly in Wellington band [a854854] and for some reason credited himself as Howard Mann on the Jungle Mice's debut 12" 'Start Again'. Jungle Mice shifted thier sound from an electro pop band to a psychobilly band for thier second release 'Unaffected' in 1987, and then the band shifted to Australia and broke up. Two of the band members, Howard James and Simon Ward later helped form the Australian group [a10329703] in 2005. Band members: [a6315022] (AKA Howard Mann): guitar, bass, piano, vocals [a1610483]: guitar, bass Vivienne Paynter: keyboards Richard Larkin: guitar John Savage: drums [a1219563]; drums (1987)

Search Add 2 Julio César Jurado In the decade of the 80, the Latin rock marked the beginning of a musical current that to the date maintains with great success, although at the moment it fuses with other sorts. At that time all Latin America and Spain were in fashion the songs of bands like Soda Stereo, Mecano, Enanitos Verdes, among others. And in Ecuador, the Guayaquil group 'Clip' revolutionized the national scene with a musical proposal that lived up to these consecrated groups. The lyrics and rhythms combined perfectly in each of the songs that 'Clip' put on the radios and on the country stages. These were not only successful in Ecuador since they also positioned themselves in the first places in some countries of the continent as 'Little by little', 'Just a fool', 'Emotional laxative', 'Mosquito anopheles', 'You are here' 'It does not cost anything to dream', among others, that made the renowned musicians who are now, although 'Clip. 'and finished his musical stage. However, 'Ñañón', as Julio César Jurado calls it, never completely moved away from music and combined his career as an architect with that of music producer and communicator. One of the biggest successes that Jurado has had as a producer was to organize an intercollegial competition (1998) in which several soloists and bands from the emblematic schools of Guayaquil participated. In that contest was winner now the recognized singer Daniel Betancourth. 'Ñañón' Jurado will repeat his experience as a scout to discover and train new singers or national bands with the purpose of positioning them in the international market.

Search Add 2 Winter Watercolors "Ends With The Sea" & "Winter Watercolors“ "Winter Watercolors - Years 1984-1988" They started rehearsing in the Spring of 1983, under the name “Ends With The Sea”. The founding members were : Antonis B. Koukios (guitar, lead vocals, composition, lyrics), Platon Tsoulos (drums) and Spiros Anagnostou (bass and founding member of “Not 2 Without 3”). They performed at various gigs in Athens (at “Skiahtro” club, “Broof”, “Vitreau” and a lot of festivals), playing their earliest songs, “La Morte”, “Years”, “Suicide”, “Take Me”, “Mirrors Inside Mirrors” and more, all of them composed by Antonis B. Koukios. The following year, Spiros Anagnostou left and George K. Koukios (brother of Antonis B. Koukios, and founding member of “Morel”) became his replacement in the band. Unfortunately, during the Autumn of 1984 the band broke up. 1985 : a new beginning for the band, with a different name. “Winter Watercolors” (inspired by an Antonis B. Koukios’ poem). Besides Antonis Koukios and Platon Tsoulos, new members were added : Vasilis Nakis (synths, composition), Dimitris Dimitriou (bass, backing vocals, composition) and Manos Konstantinidis (guitar, backing vocals, percussion, composition). The new members brought new fresh ideas. Their sound was enriched with various pop, jazz and funk elements, taking its definitive, compact and solid form, as can be heard on the record. They started their live appearances once again (clubs like “Cat’s Meow”, “Skiahtro”, “Tracks”, “127db”, “Swing”, “Vitreau” hosted and supported them). In May 1987 they participated in the 1st School contest (with Sarra Galanopoulou on piano) at Sporting stadium, winning the first place. The price was the participation in 2 concerts at “Park”- Pedio Areos, supporting established Greek bands and artists of that period, like “Last Drive”, Pavlos Sidiropoulos, “Tripes” and Dimitris Poulikakos. Their first ever studio recordings took place in 1987 at “Studio +Ena” and remained in their original reel-to-reel tape format till our days. “Mirror Inside Mirrors”, “La Morte (1st version)”, “Time After Time”, “I Suppose”. They appeared in various radio shows, interviews and reviews for their live gigs, while they participated in “Morel’s” first album presentation at “Cat’s Meow” club, along with “Morel” and Giorgos Dimitriadis & Little Heroes. The same year they were chosen by the Ministry of Culture (along with “Lefki Simfonia” and “Rodondo Rocks”) to represent Greece at the 2nd new artists Biennale Festival in Barcelona, Spain. They received some very positive reviews from the Spanish media, and were congratulated in person by Spain’s Ministry of Culture. Just before their trip to Barcelona, they recorded “La Morte (2nd version)” and “Across The Water” at “Studio 111”. “La Morte” was chosen by the Spanish organizers to be included in the official LP-compilation of the 2nd Biennale. In 1988 they recorded “It’s Too Late” and “Alibi” at “Studio Tracks” and participated at Italy’s Biennale pro-festival, which took place in Bari. They were praised enthusiastically by the Italian media, and hosted on Italian television and radio shows. After their return to Greece, they played their last gig at “An” club in Athens and thereafter disbanded permanently. 28 years after their last show, Geheimnis Records with its 24th release, presents the complete studio recordings of the band + 2 songs (from their first live gig in 1984 at Lofos Strefi) from the “Ends With The Sea” era, in 300 hand-numbered copies, 179 of them in black and 109 in transparent orange vinyls. All songs have been remastered by Manos Konstantinidis and mastered for vinyl by Chris Manolitsis. Includes insert with lyrics, photos and a bio/history of the band. The album “Years 1984 – 1988” is dedicated to the memory of our good friend and member of Winter Watercolors, Dimitris Dimitriou.

Search Add 2 Warganism Romanian metal-rock group formed in November 1995 in Bucharest, initially under the name Dies Irae until 2008. The band continuously evolved and their sound changed through the different releases and hundreds of live shows making them one of the best metal bands in Romania. The first period, 1995 - 1996, meant a lot of features at the shows on the local radios and on the Romanian national television. The end of 1996 meant the release of the first official material, an EP called “A Perennial Spleen”. 1999 – 2000, saw a very strong development of the Romanian metal scene and Warganism took full advantage of it by playing numerous shows all over the country. In 2000, as Victor Stoica left for the United States, the band followed other musical avenues, including industrial and trip-hop, also boasting a successful side project – Phobia. In the end of 2006 the band finally got back together and this time with the clear goal to take their music across the globe. Warganism recorded a single called Shadow. On September 2008, the band officially changed its name to Warganism, and released their new studio album called Centipede. 2011 Line-Up: Radu Iordache - vocals Marian Stoenică - guitars Sorin Stoian - Guitars Victor Stoica - drums, percussion Ioachim stroe - bass

Search Add 2 Beat for sale BEAT FOR SALE is half way between Kraut Pop and Analogical Electro. An unlikely musical recipe made of a spoonful of analogical synthesizer, a mixt of hip hop beat, a pinch of saturation, an aftertaste of cold wave. The whole spiced up with syncopated chanted words. It has to be tried and tasted; one has to grab hold of it, savour slowly its rhythm. This alchemy takes full power on stage. With its experience of sets, The Metz’s trio pretty appreciates this performance. BEAT FOR SALE is a hybrid recipe which comes directly from a diversified musical syncretism. It would be like mixing up Peached, DJ Premier and Krafwerk in a magic box and see what comes out. Long live the magic trio.

Search Add 2 SomewhereNotHere Conceived in 2005, Somewhere Not Here was an instrumental work in progress from Rik Clay (guitarist of FULC) who strays from his usual choice of instrument, the guitar, into new territory, making full use of a computer as an instrument in its own right. There were plans for more collaborations with other musicians and a full audio visual live show, however Rik sadly died shortly after his 26th birthday in August 2008 and as a consequence he left behind a body of work, mostly created in 2006, that is only now being evaluated for release in 2010.
