Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024
Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 10 | Tepper-Bennett | Sid Tepper and Roy C. Bennett met as young boys growing up in Brooklyn, New York. Their mutual interest in music led to a highly successful music collaboration that spanned more than twenty-five years. Between 1945 and 1970 they had close to three hundred musical compositions published. Tepper and Bennett began their career together in 1946, when they became staff song writers for Sydney Mills (of Mills Music). Their first big hit came in 1948 with 'Red Roses for a Blue Lady'. Bennett and Tepper scored big again in 1951 when Rosemary Clooney recorded their composition "Suzy Snowflake." In 1955, their 1954 composition of "Naughty Lady of Shady Lane" was a top-10 hit for both Dean Martin and the Ames Brothers. After three years with Mills Music, the duo decided to become freelance artists, and their successes eventually caught the attention of Elvis Presley's people. Tepper & Bennett wrote 45 compositions for Elvis' albums and movies, and is quite possibly their greatest legacy to the world of music. In 2002, Roy Bennett and Sid Tepper were honored at ceremonies in Memphis, TN by Lisa Marie Presley for their contribution to her father's success. They were also honored for having written a large portion of the album Blue Hawaii, which is widely considered by Elvis fans to be his best album. Other successful artists who recorded Bennett & Tepper songs include The Beatles, Perry Como, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Robert Goulet, Dinah Shore, Burl Ives, Eartha Kitt, Les Paul & Mary Ford, Frank Sinatra, Cliff Richard, Duke Ellington, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Marty Robbins, the Ames Brothers, Jo Stafford, Wayne Newton, and Sarah Vaughn.

Search | Add | 10 | Jack Lesmana | Jack Lesmana (born in Jember, East Java 18 October 1930 and died in Jakarta 17 July 1988) was an influential Indonesian jazz guitarist and bassist, and father of jazz pianist [a1904322]. He was born as Jack Lemmers to a Madurese father and a mother of mixed Javanese and Dutch blood a singer and dancer in the Opera Miss Riboet.. He uses the name "Lemmers", after his father who was adopted by a Dutchman. In the 1960s, in accordance with President Sukarno's suggestion regarding the Indonesianization of names, Jack changed his name to Jack Lesmana. It was from his parents that Jack inherited his musical talent. In 1942 he founded a jazz group called Dixieland in Jember, East Java. At the age of 15, he joined the Berger Quartet as a guitarist, consisting of Berger (piano), Putirai (drums), and Jumono (bass). He also plays boogie-woogie with Boogie-Woogie Rhytmics with Micki Wyt as lead and piano player, Oei Boeng Leng (guitar), Jack Lesmana (bass) and Benny Heynen (clarinet). Together with Maryono (clarinet), Andy Sayifin (alto saxophone), Lody Item (guitar), Suwarto (piano), Tuharjo and Kadam (trumpet), he joined the band Irama Samudra. Then with Maryono and Bubi Chen, Jack Lesmana founded the Jack Lemmers Quartet, which later became the Jack Lesmana Quintet. Then in 1962 Lesmana's combo played for president Sukarno who liked them though they were not required to play jazz but Indonesian traditional and folk music. They remained the "palace band" until the the coup against Sukarno in 1966. The Jack Lesmana Quintet often performed at jazz events at RRI Surabaya. He had also joined the Navy Music Unit, also in Surabaya. He also founded the Gema Irama Band in Jakarta and made several jazz recording albums with the Irama label. In the mid 60's, Jack Lesmana (guitar) with Bubi Chen (piano), Benny Mustapha van Diest (drums), Maryono (flute, saxophone), and Jopie Chen (bass), formed the jazz group [a449199] who played with and record an album with Tony Scott.. In the 1970s he ceaselessly played and promoted jazz, and established the Jack Lesmana Jazz School in Jakarta becoming both a central figure and mentor to many musicians. In 1978, Jack Lesmana and his son Indra had the opportunity to go to Australia to perform at the ASEAN Trade Fair cultural week. It was then, Indra tried to take the entrance exam at the New South Wales Conservatory School of Music in Sydney and was accepted. In 1979 his son Indra Jack and his family moved to Australia for five years. Jack taught at the conservatory and played jazz, while Indra studied at Don Burrows, Roger Frampton and Paul McNamara at the school. After returning from Australia in 1984, Jack Lesmana had founded a music school called the "Musik Indra & Jack Lesmana" Forum. Jack Lesmana died in Jakarta on July 17, 1988 after a long battle with Cryoglobulinemia, a type of disorder in which cryoglobulins attack the human blood circulation.

Search | Add | 10 | Tammy Cline | Marilyn Margaret Croff | Marilyn Margaret Croff, (born 16th June 1953), Hull, Humberside, England. The teenage Croff was performing in working-men’s clubs in the Hull area and gave up her job at a starch factory because the chemicals were affecting her voice. She met her husband, Rod Boulton, when she sang with a local band, the Falcons. After the birth of their daughter they became a duo and, on a whim, Rod named them Tammy And Dave Cline. Although not intentional, it was the ideal name for Marilyn Croff, whose strongest influences were Tammy Wynette and Patsy Cline. With another Hull band, Uncle Sam, Tammy Cline did well in the national Marlboro Talent Contest in 1978. When they decided to turn fully professional, Uncle Sam changed its line-up and became Southern Comfort. Success on the television talent showSearch For A Star followed, and Tammy recorded in Nashville - one single for the UK market, ‘Love Is A Puzzle’, and another for the US, ‘I Don’t Know How To Tell Him’. Although chart success eluded her, she was voted Britain’s Top Female Country Singer for five consecutive years. In 1986, Cline and Little Ginny formed Two Hearts and were awarded the title of Top European Duo in the Country Music Round Up National Poll. They released a self titled album in 1989. In the early 90s Cline retired from the music business to concentrate on her family life. During her career Cline built a strong following around the UK clubs and became a seasoned broadcaster. |

Search | Add | 10 | Heady Brew | Nashville, Tennessee Formed in 2004, Heady Brew reunited three lifelong friends from a small, sleepy town in south Alabama whose devotion to music culminated in a single purpose: to create a distinct and original form of music drawn from similar and sometimes diverse influences and experiences. The members of Heady Brew have been making music together in one incarnation or combination or another since their teens. Although they’ve traveled many directions geographically and sometimes musically, the common thread has always been the desire to create something original, along with the devotion to the idea of the power of the song. Based in Nashville, TN… Heady Brew is a rock ‘n’ roll band infused with elements of country, and blues. They move with ease from one genre to the next… weaving them together to create a sound distinctly their own.

Search | Add | 10 | The B.B.C. Wireless Military Band | The B.B.C Wireless Military Band, later renamed the B.B.C Military Band ran from September 1927 until 1943, with a repertoire largely made up of orchestral works. It had a staff arranger Gerrard Williams and was conducted by Walton O'Donnell, succeeded in 1937 by his brother, Major P.S.G. O'Donnell. ( It is possible that this change of conductor led to the dropping of the word Wireless from the band name) The band proved immensely popular and had original pieces written for it by, amongst others, Alan Bush and Gustav Holst. The B.B.C decided to axe the band in the 1940s and despite much protests it gave its final performance at 9.40 pm on Tuesday, 16 March 1943.

Search | Add | 10 | Efza | Efza Yordamoğlu, born in 1994, had already started to attract attention with her composition "Hüzün Kokar Bu Şarkı" three years ago. The piece was the first of his painful but rhythmic works that would eventually become associated with her brand. The singer and songwriter, who made every element of his production herself, from recording to mixing, built on this combination and increasingly felt her proximity to Portishead's Beth Gibbons and many other names of the golden age of trip hop. While she was already drawing attention among her contemporaries with the clarity of his artistic direction and self-sufficiency, she also added value with her unique visuals in the setting of Sevdaliza and FKA Twigs. Although this value was noticed, she announced her partnership with Tamar Records, which hosts many of Turkey's most successful underground artists, in her latest single.

Search | Add | 10 | Offyourself | Punk rock band with pop characteristics from Villa Park, IL, that existed from 1997 to 2001. The band formed in the fall of '97 when Mike Heerboth (guitar/rasps or vocals), T.J. Durkan (bass/vocals), and Paul Giraldi (drums/screams) got together to start playing songs that were similar to T.J. and Mike's first band, [a1305963]. The band wrote a bunch of songs and started playing shows in Feb. '98, and recorded a demo tape in June of that year. In Sept., Paul left the band to go to school, to be replaced by Bret Mcarty in Nov. (whose first show was the first Hanger 18 show) but Bret left in May '99 to play bass in Crackerjack. Paul returned from school and re-joined the band for the summer until Pat Kilbryde took over on drums. This is the point where the band wrote more rock than "I hate you" punk songs, and recorded their first full-length CD called "Age 5," which was released in Dec. '99. Shortly after, Pat put forth his resignation so he could play drums in [a3256391]. Dave Hoffa then stepped up and joined on drums, and Dan (Fatkid) Nelson joined on rhythm guitar. The band took another step in a different direction and recorded a new full-length, self-titled CD, which was released in Feb. '01 on Dan's [l95133].

Its expertise and experience come from daily chanting of the Liturgy of the Hours as well as the Ordinary and Proper of the Mass at the Church of the Transfiguration in Orleans, MA. The Schola also conducts chant workshops and performs in concert with Gloriæ Dei Cantores. Years of study with Dr. Mary Berry, CBE, founder of the Schola Gregoriana in Cambridge, England, and the monks of St. Peter’s Abbey in Solesmes, France, also contribute to the Schola’s passion for Gregorian chant as a vibrant and living form of sung prayer. Gloriæ Dei Cantores Schola has been critically acclaimed in both Europe and the United States for its proper regard for rhythmic flexibility and its sensitivity to both musical and textural phrase. “Expert renditions of Gregorian Chant.” NY Times “Gregorian chant sung in authentic style…absolute fluency and authority.” Gramophone “The singing is excellent… an inescapable beauty that envelopes the ears and transports the senses.” Audiophile Audition “Other-worldly…elegantly overpowering.” In Tune Magazine

Search | Add | 10 | Колесо Дхармы | Dharma Wheel is one of the first straight edge hardcore bands in Russia. The leader and vocalist of the band for many years is Punch, who rallied the punk community of Volzhsky in the mid-90s. Since the 2000s the band has been based in Finland and performs under the name Wheel of Dharma. The legacy of the band, whose performances and first recordings date back to the early 90s, is hard to overestimate, it became a cornerstone of the DIY scene formation in Russia. The band has always taken a clear anti-fascist stance, never separating politics from music, and music from action. The band's performance at the Yebi Systema Fest, announced in 2013, did not take place. The band hasn't performed in Russia for quite a long time. Search | Add | 10 | Harry M. Randel | Recording engineer. Founder of [l502794] and a [l191050] Franchise Associate. {obs.} 574 West Court, Scotch Plains, New Jersey 07076 An article about Harry from Scotch Plains Times dated 25 February 1965 (pp.7 & 17) Ins And Outs About Pressing Records By Ruth B. Gilbert Facing the undeniable fact that my knowledge of electronics equals minus zero, and I wouldn't know an Ampex 620 speaker from an MX 35 mixer, it was with feminine fear and trepidation that I approached 574 West Court in Scotch Plains for an interview with Harry M. Randel. As a representative for Century Records, he operates a Custom Recording Service from his home, handling 70% of the custom school and church recordings in New Jersey. (When an individual or an organization places an order strictly for the use of the participants of the program sponsored by that group, it is known as CUSTOM recording. The records are not for general sale through distributors or record shops.) Fortunately, Mr. Randel is a patient man and accepting my total ignorance in the recording field, he undertook to explain his fascinating vocation with amazing clarity. The path which ultimately led to Harry Randers present occupation is a long one. After graduating from Lehigh University in 1940 from a curriculum of Sales Engineering, he spent a short three months as a statistician with the Pennsylvania Power and Light. In October of that year, he became a member of Uncle Sam's Army, stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds and for three years was the Senior Instructor, Aviation Ordnance. While at Aberdeen, Harry married the former Lillian Boardman and in 1944, their son James was born. Assigned to the 15th Air Force in Italy, Harry was a technical training officer and received the Legion of Merit for overseas technical developments. Following his military service, he joined the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C. as a Professional Radio Engineer. Harry recalls "as an outgrowth of this, we had the 53rd television set in Washington and every neighbor in our apartment converged on us to watch that 5 inch screen." His daughter, Suzanne, was born while the Randels were in the nation's capital. In 1945, Dumont offered Harry an opportunity to go into television. As a remote supervisor, he worked 14 hours a day, 7 days a week, and did the majority of network programs originating from Washington. He told of televising one of President Harry Truman's "fireside chats" one evening. The cameras had been set up early in the afternoon, but after rehearsing with the President, one of them developed trouble. As Harry was frantically making repairs, "some chap tapped me on the shoulder and told me I was doing it all wrong." Startled, Harry turned to find Mr. Truman himself joking with him. Harry left. Dumont in 1955 and there followed a series of positions with ACF Electronics, in Virginia; the N.J. Meter Co. in Plainfleld; Walter Kidde and Co. in Belleville and Universal Toroid Coil Winding Co. in Irvington. His interest in the recording business actually began when his son, Jim, was a child. Harry and Lillian owned a small record cutter and would cut childrens’ records for Jim …. writing the scripts and acting all the parts. When Suzanne came along, they began to put stories for her on a tape recorder. As both children grew, recording their participation in school activities became a natural thing for the Randels. In 1961, the Scotch Plains - Fanwood High School was having its Spring concert ... and since Harry had two children playing usual pattern of bringing into the auditorium his tape recorder and microphone. Here he met Art Brandenburg, Century Records Representative, who was recording the concert with professional equipment. In December of that year, Brandenburg offered Harry a recording franchise with Century and his career was born. The first program the Randels recorded was the Westfield High School Band under the leadership of Robert Banks. They started with two Sony microphones and an Ampex PR 10 professional recorder. Today's mobile operation consists of a console on wheels featuring the Ampex 354 stereo recorder, 10 microphone channels through Ampex mixers and an assortment of professional microphones ... Telefunken, Sony, Sennheiser and Electro-Voice. They are in constant demand whenever quality and legality are the paramount desires of a recording group. This is a joint venture for the Randels, Lillian handles all the paper work, keeps the books and accompanies Harry to all recording sessions where she does the timing for each number. (Not to mention the fact that she is a clerk-typist at the Junior High School library, keeps house, makes her own clothes, knits and enjoys reading in her spare (?) time!). Out of their work has grown HMR Productions, which does commercial recordings for such customers as Warner-Lambert and CIBA (sales training records) and even the sounds of gnawing termites for the radio commercials for Western Termite Control … and of course, Century Custom Recording Service. Doing approximately 60 shows a year, including among many others, the band at Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights, the New Jersey Symphonic Band, Middlesex High and our own Junior and Senior High Schools. Harry does a great deal of work for the New Jersey Music Educators Association. This current school year found him recording the All State Orchestra and Chorus at Atlantic City and at the Mosque Theater in Newark. On February 28th, he will record the All State Band at Hunterdon Central High School in Flemington. Harry feels his most interesting task was with the New Jersey Music Educators' Opera Festival, This is an All State type of program, where students from some 70 to 100 schools throughout the state participate. An opera theme is selected and specific students in participating schools train under the guidance of the music educator in their school. Then on one day in February, close to 1000 students converge on a selected site. There is a single rehearsal for the chorus alone and one for the orchestra alone. This is the first time these students have ever sung or played together and probably the first time they have ever seen the musical director! Later, the two groups combine for a single rehearsal featuring soloists, chorus and orchestra in an integrated program. A polished presentation is given that night to the public. Harry was emphatic in his praise for the music teachers of our New Jersey schools and for the talented youngsters who participate in the program. In a presentation of this size and complexity, the technical knowhow and abundance of professional recording equipment as featured by Century Custom Recording Service really comes into its forte. Harry Randal is indeed fortunate to have his vocation and his vocation one and the same. He would offer his services as a lecturer on audio recording to any interested group in the area. It's impossible to completely cover the legend of Century Custom Recording Service and of the Randels in one feature article. A volume could well be filled with their story. And anyone who doesn't know an Ampex 620 speaker from an MX 35 mixer might find an exploration into the world of electronics to be informative, absorbing and thoroughly delightful!

His real name was Munshi Muhammad Kasem. But in the world of entertainment he assumed the name K Mallik, just to hide his real identity in the interest of business. In 1902, he moved to Kolkata in search of livelihood and was employed in a shop owned by a Marwari. Later he moved to Kanpur, where he worked for Raleigh Brothers, which traded in hides. Nothing is known about K Mallik's early schooling in music, but while at Kanpur he studied music under Abdul Hai Hakim. He also learnt baiji (courtesan) songs at Kanpur. Back in Kolkata, he started performing in small functions, and gradually gained popularity. He had a melodious voice and recorded shyamasangit for Becker Records. It was at this time that he assumed the name 'K Mallik', because it was feared that a record of Hindu devotional songs sung by a Muslim would not attract consumers. Later, he recorded Hindi songs under the name 'Pandit Shankar Mishra' and Islamic songs under his original name. After he became popular, His Master's Voice recorded many of his songs. In addition to Syamasangit, Mallik also sang songs by rabindranath tagore, kazi nazrul islam, rajanikanta sen and atulprasad sen. His singing of Amar matha nata kare dao he (Make me bow at thy feet) by Rabindranath, Bandhu eman badale tumi kothay (O my friend, where are you now when the rain is falling?) by Atulprasad and Baghichay bulbuli tui phulshakhate disne aji dol (O bulbul, do not shake the blossom-laden branch) by Nazrul stirred the emotion of audiences. His other famous recordings include Aj elo khushir Eid (Joyous Eid has arrived), Anandini Uma ajo amar anandini Uma (O my joyful Uma, the wife of Shiva), Amar Uma, kai Giriraj (O my Uma, where is the Mountain-King?), Amar nayane nayan rakhi (With your eyes on mine), Asichhen habibe Khoda, moder nabi kamliwala (Here comes the darling of God, our Prophet Muhammad) etc. The last song was a duet with abbasuddin ahmed. K Mallik performed a variety of songs from 1909 to 1940. He became so popular that each of his records sold more than 30 to 40 thousand copies. However, despite his fabulous earnings, his final days were passed in Kusum, his native village, in stringent financial circumstances. During his residence in the village, K Mallik passed his time teaching songs to farmers. He died here in 1959. [Wakil Ahmed] Ref. https://en.banglapedia.org/index.php/Mallik,_K |
