Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024
Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 3 | Epsilon Jass Band | The Epsilon Jass Band was founded in 1963 when a diverse group of musicians (including Bud Bechtold and Don Greenwell) was recruited by Dr. Bob Shanahan to play for a fundraiser for a Child Guidance Clinic. (The band was named for a small town near Greenwell’s deer hunting camp.) Unified by their affection for traditional jazz, the membership was flexible and drew on practically all willing players in the northwest corner of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. The personnel included a dentist, a physician, a commercial pilot, several schoolteachers, a machinist, a retail businessman, a librarian, a manufacturer of hunting bows, a dental lab technician, an innkeeper, and a medical technician. The band usually plays with seven members. Four of the original six members have passed away.

Search | Add | 3 | Alcormusic | 2008.

Search | Add | 3 | Thee|22|SekkT | It has been said that the human brain takes 7 seconds to register a particular sound. This might be true. But to register a sound doesn't really mean anything. One has to remember, appreciate, and properly listen to a sound. To listen is not the same as to hear. Think about it. Thee|22|SekkT has put the 7 seconds "rule" to the test and found that it doesn't work. 22 seconds are needed to truly listen and appreciate a sound. It takes a bit of time to register what your ears are hearing. It needs to be processed properly. With this knowledge, Thee|22|SekkT was born. And it will be of no surprise that all the sounds are exactly 22 seconds long. Thee|22|SekkT's method of working is elegant in its simplicity. A track is recorded and then subtly changed in pitch, tone, what have you, thus creating a tiny symphony of constantly repeating yet slowly evolving sounds. Because of this, headphones are advised, as some parts of the symphonies might become nearly inaudible when listening to them on a regular stereo system. This project has a distinct single goal: to make the listener appreciate 22 second snippets of sounds, any sounds. Be it drone, ambient, noise, trance or whatever.

Search | Add | 3 | El Halcon De Colombia | Alberto Puello Villarreal | Colombian singer, born in Cartagena on January 9, 1954, he covers different styles: cumbia, bolero, champeta, vallenato (full name Alberto Puello Villarreal, also known as "El Halcon"). |

They called themselves Na Leo Kani O Punahele, which was also the title of their first LP. "I Kona" was the new group's signature song. Fans had difficulty remembering the long name all in the Hawaiian language and referred to the musicians as "the group that plays "I Kona." By the second LP, Na Leo Kani O Punahele had renamed itself I Kona, sometimes spelled as Ikona.

Search | Add | 3 | Goldkey | Mike Horn | Goldkey is the musical alias of New York artist Mike Horn. With Degraw Sound's Ben Rice at the helm, Goldkey has crafted tunes that are one part indie pop, one part indie folk, or as tastemakers Emerging Indie Bands calls it —“slipwave”. Goldkey’s first single “Mountain” was featured on Spotify playlists, TuneCore's The New and Indie Mono's Indie Folk Chill. Goldkey followed this release up with the psychedelic, “What Am I Supposed To Do?” and Indie pop-focused “Faster”, which landed his music in the #1 slot of Hype Machine’s Twitter Music Charts for consecutive weeks. In August of 2019, Goldkey released his first 5-song EP, "Background". Goldkey’s latest release heads in a slightly different direction – adding lo-fi remnants mixed with the indie sound we’ve come to expect from him. The EP is packed with a healthy dose of surf, garage and even a pinch of shoegaze. For his latest release, Horn tapped producer/musician Evan Wright. |

Search | Add | 3 | Mike Boulan | On November 13, 1994, Mike Boulan formed No Cover Productions to record James Glass. He wanted his new company to be different from other record companies. He wanted the artists to have more freedom to create better music. As a guy who spent almost ten years prior to the formation of No Cover doing live recordings for local bands, it is likely he was building towards a record company ownership without even knowing it. Mike says that in the course of doing his live recordings, he came so outraged by the tremendous costs of putting out a CD that he decided to take some classes at the Recording Institute of Detroit to see if he could do better. Studying under the legendary Motown Sound Engineer, Bob Dennis, Mike says he wound up graduating at the top of his class.

They were from Galena, MO and began playing professionally as a vaudeville-style duo ("The Original Ozarks Hillbillies") while still in their teens. Their first appearance was at the Gillioz Theater in Springfield, MO in the early 1930s. Missouri artist Thomas Hart Benton first met the boys in 1931, and used them as models for his 1931 Missouri Musicians painting. In the 1940s, the brothers shifted their act to a more evangelical approach, appearing at numerous churches and tent revivals, but continued to include a mix of country/bluegrass music, novelty music (played on cheeks and head, broom, etc.), and magic tricks.

Search | Add | 3 | Alfonso Soliano | Excerpt from "Play it Again: The Music of Alfonso Soliano - A new album pays tribute to a legend of Malaysian music" By Ling Low and Syahir Ashri "A portrait of Alfonso Soliano hangs above the piano in their family home. The portrait, it is said, serves as a reminder to present members of the current family to never let the music die. Luckily, there doesn’t seem much chance of this happening: the Solianos are the Longest Performing Group (Family) in Malaysia, according to the Malaysian Book of Records. Rachel Guerzo, Soliano’s granddaughter, first started performing as a child. She now performs as a jazz singer and pianist around KL. This year marks 25 years since Alfonso Soliano’s passing. His influence may not be widely known today, but he arguably influenced the sound of modern Malaysian music more than any other one man. He was leader of the Radio Malaya orchestra and later conductor of the RTM Orchestra. He introduced the sound of bebop to the country. He was the mastermind behind many major local artists of the 1970’s, including Sharifah Aini. In his own day, Alfonso Soliano was a household name. Today, you might struggle to name one of his songs. But Rachel hopes to change that. She has just released an album, entitled Alfonso 25, that pays tribute to her grandfather and brings many of his songs to a new audience. “When I first had the idea for the first project, I wanted to show how timeless the music was and I wanted a diversified group of musicians so that we could showcase the music to different genres,” says Rachel. She selected different Malaysian musicians from different genres to interpret the songs for the album, including Ali Aiman, Lokman Aslam and Bihzhu. “We have hip-hop, we have EDM, we have folksy indie music and then there’s us [The Guerzos] which is more jazz rock. That was the whole idea, to have a diverse group of musicians.” In his lifetime, Soliano himself worked with a variety of musicians and genres – from grand orchestras to small bands playing in nightclubs and dance halls. According to musical historian Saidah Rastam, his compositions of off-beat jazz (or bebop) were at first baffling to KL’s audiences, but soon caught on. He was multi-talented: incredibly fluent in traditional Malay music styles like bangsawan, while also being able to interpret these for a symphonic orchestra. For Soliano, music was in his blood. In colonial Malaya, the British couldn’t find enough musicians who knew Western styles of music. So at the turn of the century, 64 musicians were brought over from the Philippines – somewhat ironically – to start a state band for Selangor. Soliano’s father was one of these Filipino musicians, and he settled in Malaya and started a family. Alfonso was born in Singapore in 1925 as the youngest of 17 children. Many of the family became respected musicians of their time and frequently performed together as jazz music grew in popularity. “Jazz was so prominent then, it was kind of like the music of the day. It’s kind of like what hip-hop is now. It was the contemporary music of the 50s,” says Rachel, who today performs with two of her brothers, Don and Dado, in The Guerzos. At just age seven, Alfonso Soliano – known as Nonong to his family – started performing around the country in a touring troupe. As he grew up, his career took him from colonial Malaya, through the Japanese occupation and into independent Malaya. But in his prime, he was forced to leave the very land that he called home. In the 1960’s, critical voices pressured Soliano to resign from Radio Malaya, where he was a full time conductor and arranger for the orchestra. According to Saidah Rastam’s research, this criticism was partly motivated by Soliano’s religion (he was not Muslim) and the Western influence of his music. Soliano ended up moving to Bangkok for several years, but his pride was wounded to the point that he refused to return to collect an AMN award in 1966. It was only in 1973 that Soliano was persuaded to return to Malaysia to work for RTM. However, his health soon started to deteriorate and he retired after suffering a stroke. Rachel herself was with her grandfather when he died."
