Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 4 | Imago Mortis Photography | Sean M. Palfrey | “Classy Occultism” – Terrorizer Magazine, Sept 2008 Sean M. Palfrey (°1986, Detmold, Germany) AKA Imago Mortis makes photos, films, mixed media artworks and sculpture. By referencing the traditions of alchemy and the occult, surrealism, gothic romanticism, grand-guignolesque black humour, and symbolism, Palfrey creates his work through experimental and often labour-intensive processes which can be seen explicitly as a personal exorcism ritual. With the motto “Art is Dead | Death is Art” Palfrey distils the macabre traditions of fine art found in the surrealists, dada, romantics, pre-Raphaelites, and medieval eras to create dark conceptual photography and films; utilising elements such as infra-red, low-key lighting, long-exposures, double exposures, and traditional analog methods. Palfrey also creates alchemy and occult inspired paintings as well as sculptural taxidermy through the crystallisation and oxidisation of skulls, bones and shells. Sean M. Palfrey currently lives and works in Lincoln, UK and is available for selected commissions. Biography graciously provided by Mr. Corbin Grimm (2017) |

Search | Add | 4 | Fulc | FULC | FULC was an alternative/nu-metal/industrial rock band from Leeds, UK, formed in Scunthorpe, UK. Formed in November 2000 FULC demo "Void" (2001) landed the band offers of recording contracts from 3 independent labels. Instead the band signed to Stunted Records and Management who sent FULC on a 15 date tour in February/March 2002 to start building a fanbase. By July 2002 FULC were recording “The Fallen” EP at Sawmills Studios in Cornwall, following in the footsteps of Muse, Oasis, Supergrass etc. Released on September 9th 2002 on Stunted Records, FULC embarked on a 35 date promotional tour from July to Sept. 2002, and a further 20 date tour from Oct. to Dec. 2002. The EP received excellent reviews, the most impact being a live review in Kerrang and a full page Kerrang “Rising” feature in 26th Oct. 02 issue. Never ones to stand still FULC returned to Sawmills in Jan 03 to record their debut album “Biting Insomnia” . The album was released on June 23rd 2003 on Stunted Records, with a 50 date promotional tour set up to coincide with the release. With a KKKK review in Kerrang, Metal Hammer, Powerplay magazines etc all passed comment on the quality of FULC’s songwriting. FULC hit the road again in winter 2003 for a further 20 date promotional tour, their most successful yet. Featured on BBC Radio 1 One Music FULC were no.1 in the “Lock Up” chart for 6 months and playlisted on Radio One in July 2003. FULC were personally selected by Mary Anne Hobbs to perform at a Radio One Rock Show event in Leeds in June 2003. Mike Davies ( R1 DJ ) described FULC song “Nest” as :- “Fantastic, Fulc have got subtlety down to a fine art,”Nest” rocks in all the right places without thrusting itself in your face. This is both melodic and bowel shakingly heavy and will have rock fans creaming themselves to catch them perform live “ FULC supported Vendetta Red, Span, Agnostic Front, Skindred, Fony, Vacant Stare, Spear of Destiny, Kinesis, Martin Grech and others. Tours were sponsored by Jagermeister alongside The Darkness, Violent Delight and This Girl. FULC headlined the second stage at the 2003 Bloodstock Festival in Derby, alongside Saxon and Paradise Lost on the main stage. Two further 15 date UK tours took place in 2004. Recording their final album at The Chapel in South Thoresby in Oct 2004, this was followed by tours of Germany and the UK in 2005 to promote their second album "Embrace.Destroy" which received much critical acclaim in the UK and Germany. Shortly after the release of Embrace.Destroy in May 2005 personal circumstances led to a hiatus which the band never recovered from. Lineup: Duane Walker - lead vocals, guitar Rik Clay - lead guitar, backing vocals Kris Kilmore - bass Mark Cooke - drums |

Search | Add | 4 | Алиса Апрелева | Татьяна Коломейцева | Alisa Apreleva is a Russian singer, composer, multiinstrumentalist, producer, and poet. Alisa Apreleva's music is rooted in a wide variety of genres: from authentic Eastern Slavic folklore to chamber to jazz to rock to film music. She uses voice and an array of acoustic instruments (cellos, harp, accordion, hang drum, piano, ethnic drums), along with looping and electronic processing, in her compositions, creating the style best described as "acoustic ambient". EthnoLoops, her most recent project, is a solo set for voice, cello and a loop station, where Eastern European and Native American traditional songs coexist with original compositions to create a universe full of joy and color. Soundscapes around EthnoLoops are build by Ishaan Chhabra, a sound architect from India. Alisa Apreleva's CD "Lucidus", including 11 compositions for voice, drums and three celli, was released in 2011. Finest musicians from Russia, United States, Mexico, India, Costa Rica were involved in production and presentation of the album, which was enthusiastically welcomed by critics, fans and musical connoisseurs in Russia, Europe, United States and Latin America. Alisa Apreleva started performing professionally early in her life as a classical singer and pianist. Since 2001, Alisa has acquired popularity as a singer-songwriter and a widely published poet. In 2003-2004 Alisa worked as an actress with “Tample” musical theater (Moscow, Russia). In 2003 Alisa graduated cum laude from the Lomonosov Moscow State University with Master’s Degree in Linguistics and Education and entered the post-graduate school. In 2004 Alisa moved to Seattle, USA. Since then she lives between two continents and writes songs in two languages. Starting from 2006, Alisa Apreleva is getting more and more popular around the globe as “the Russian singing cellist wonder”. In 2006-2008 Apreleva studied film scoring with Hummie Mann ("Robin Hood: Men in Tights", "Year of the Comet", "Dracula: Dead and Lovin It", "Language of the Heart", "Sleepless in Seattle, "Simpsons", "ALF"), within the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program. During 2010 - 2012 Alisa continued her music education as a scholarship recipient of Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA), majoring in Music Therapy studies. In 2010-2011 she also studied classical composition with Tibor Pusztai, composer and conductor from Hungary. Alisa Apreleva is featured on "Mi única llave" CD by José Mercé (2012, produced by Javier Limón), "Eastern Tapestries" by Christiane Karam (2012), and more. Search | Add | 4 | Bitter Blood Street Theatre | Bitter Blood Street Theatre was a performance art troupe-slash-acid rock band formed at Cincinnati's University in 1969 and active through the 1970s and disbanded by 1980. Their music was a swirling dervish of bong-hitting psychedelia with slashing hard rock guitars and a penchant for exotic instrumentation, including a few saw solos. The band were colourful kooks in Kiss-style masks, draped in capes and/or dominatrix outfits, and the ‘street theatre’ bit involved exactly that: extras culled from the local freak scene who would perform on stage with the band, or in the audience, or out on the sidewalk in front of the club. Perfomances would range from a guy in a wheelchair calmly eating live locusts out of a cigar box, to flashers showing their private bits to whomever caught their eye. The band played with all the heavy-hitters of the era and the area, from The MC5 to Alice Cooper (who, some believe, nicked a thing or two from Bitter’s stage performance), but never made any headway beyond Ohio’s borders. Anyway the had the chance to open for such acts as theAllman Brothers, Joe Cocker, Mountain, Savoy Brown, MC5, Frigid Pink and Dr. John. In 1975, the band were briefly part of the Columbia Records roster, but the exec who signed them was reportedly fired the same day, and the band was unceromoniously dropped. They did manage to eke out one single in ’75, but the band broke up soon after, morphing into still-active ‘fringe-rock’ outfit, Blacklight Braille. In the late 70s, BBST mainman Tom Owen was able to cobble together the band’s various demo tracks and release them as a two-volume anthology. Both are now considered minor masterpieces of 70s weird-psyche. Sadly, no vintage footage of the band has surfaced yet, so we are left to imagine what it might be like to catch these pioneering maniacs live.

Search | Add | 4 | La Rana Toro | La Rana Toro began its musical career in 1997. Influenced in its beginnings by the punk rock and melodic hardcore bands of the western coast, they have evolved in successive recordings towards a more elaborate sound, full of textures and nuances with multiple influences, difficult to be established in a concrete style or scene. This has led them to share stage with bands of various styles and provenances such as Bad Religion, Dog Eat Dog and Vetusta Morla to name a few. Since their foundation they have published four works and are currently presenting "Minúsculo Infinito" (2015) their last studio work. Recorded between El Sotano studios and the studio of Gonzalo, guitar and main composer of the band. "Minúsculo Infinito" houses generally slower and ethereal compositions bathed in reverb and delay, giving much importance to the dynamics of each theme without leaving aside in some moments the rockiness that has characterized them in the past.

Search | Add | 4 | Hauntissimo | Funs Chung | Hauntissimo is a one-man music project by Snuf starting from 2013. He had done a short live show that year, but, as he recalled, was a nightmare. In the early 2017, he picked up his old demos and reworked again. He replaced real bass guitar with samplings and decided to digitalize everything to make things easier to control. With his long-time listening to the Ruins and Merzbow in the meantime, he blended some lo-fi noisy synthesizers, drum loops with irregular time signature, plus minimal melodic bass-riffs together. After that, during the same year in September, he self-released his debut self-titled EP. |

Search | Add | 4 | Golden Staters | Barbershop Harmony Society's 1972 International Quartet Champion. First organized in 1960 with Jack Lang on tenor, Joe Rook on lead, Buddy Yarnell on baritone, and Mike Senter on bass. Mike Senter organized the group and was the musical arranger of the quartet. In 1961, personnel changes began and Joe Sipots replaced Joe Rook as lead. A year later, brothers, Gary and Jack Harding joined as tenor and baritone. Lead number three, Jim Meehan, then joined them in 1963. The Golden Staters began competing in 1962 and won the fall Far Western District championship in 1963. They qualified for their first international contest and came in 7th place. They came in 6th place in 1965. Following the 1965 international contest, Jim Meehan left the quartet. After Jim Meehan left the quartet, Ken Ludwick joined as the new lead and they began their contest climb. They rose to 4th place bronze medalists in 1966. They slipped back into 5th in 1967 but jumped up to 3rd in 1968. During this time, they released their first record entitled, “Oh How We Roared In The 20’s.” In 1969, they were awarded with 2nd place silver medals, then tragedy struck. Ken Ludwick was involved in an automobile accident which forced him to have to leave the quartet. They sat out the 1970 international contest hoping to find a new lead. In late 1970, the Golden Staters found their new lead, Milt Christensen. Milt Christensen came to the Golden Staters from the recently disbanded “Salt Flats”, a comedy quartet from Salt Lake City, Utah. They placed 3rd with Milt in 1971. They finally won it all in 1972 in Atlanta, Georgia. They released their second album following their championship which was titled, “Two Sides Two Sounds.” The Golden Staters retired in 1975. They came out of retirement in 1978 and performed again until May of 1979 when Mike Senter suddenly died at age 39. Jack Harding died in 2003 at age 71 and Milt Christensen died in 2018 at age 86. Today only Gary Harding survives. They released two compilation albums after their active years.

Search | Add | 4 | Big Yellow Taxi.dk | Big Yellow Taxi started out in 2001 as a café duo based on the respect and love for Joni Mitchell's music. Their demos were heard on the internet, and they were invited to play in the U.S. at a so-called Joni Fest fan gathering. Their first tribute CD, " A Tribute to Joni Mitchell", was recorded with the duo still being unaware of Joni’s unreleased song material. The latter was, however, presented to them, when they performed at the Joni Fest, which was held in Big Indian, near the town Woodstock, NY, ( famous for the festival to inspire Joni's Woodstock,) In 2002. After the show, a collector of her music approached them with scrap tapes of the young Joni, thus inspiring the duo to record two more tribute albums, " Unknown and Famous Songs of Joni Mitchell" and "Treasures of Joni Mitchell", to the Joni Mitchell fan community's grand appraisal. On the present album, “The Young Joni Mitchell DisCovered”, the duo once again shows respect for the originality of Joni Mitchell's music by demonstrating their loyalty to Joni’s guitar tuning and vocal style, something clearly separating them from the pack. It's a remixed and re-mastered compilation of the duo’s two last tribute albums featuring only material, which Joni never released herself.

Search | Add | 4 | Oenix | French New Wave/Punk band from Rouen, Normandie, formed in 1979 & split in 1980. From Website : Black Bonnie Since its beginnings in the 80s, this punk group from Rouen has carved out a solid reputation. With the release of his first 45 rpm, Oenix will leave an anecdotal but lasting mark in the history of French rock. Annie Chancel, better known as Sheila , was at the time the victim of rumors that she was in reality a transsexual. Cover and lyrics of the single They want to sleep with Sheila play to the fullest on this ambiguity and trigger a huge outcry. The singer's record company fumes and threatens. The scandal surely allowed the group to sign with Virgin and release the record with a reworked cover and the same title punctuated with beeps*. Now at Oenix, They want to sleep with* ... “ Wouap dou woap chibidoua... They want to sleep with... beep ... but too bad she has big arms. They want to sleep with... beep ... but too bad it's a guy. They want to sleep with... beep ... but no, no, but you've seen the thighs she has! There's no denying it, but what a big pile. Yes, but they like it. Woop dou woap chibidoua… “

Search | Add | 4 | Hedda Gabler | Hedda Gabler is the name of a Dutch 1980s rock-noir band. Hedda Gabler's main original recorded works were self-released on vinyl: Scratching F.U.C.K on the Windshield (Vuurland-009, 1985) Mudhoney (Skeltone-001, 1987) House of Mourning (Luftmensch-001, 1990). The band Hedda Gabler received critical acclaim, notably the Dutch music journalist [a=Swie Tio] rated the band's output highly in his annual Top Ten lists, and the BBC DJ [a=John Peel] frequently featured the earlier Hedda Gabler tracks on his radio shows. Despite of this, the self-released albums were only sold in minor quantities, and have become collectors items. From the latter album House of Mourning the song 'Eating the Lion' (as a non-distributed single and a videoclip played on MTV) became a minor cult hit. In 2001 the band released their first CD compilation, entitled Layers (xtinct-001).

Yet, to date, he has not succeeded in reaching a large audience, despite unbridled dedication and commitment. In the documentary Overal Tegenin, Eric looks back on his career and looks to the future. We see how, despite all the setbacks and the lack of recognition, he still hopes for a breakthrough. In addition, we see a musician and artist who dedicates his existence to creating a unique and extremely personal oeuvre. By being close to Eric and by giving him the space to reflect freely, a haunting and moving portrait is created of one of the Netherlands' most passionate artists who has remained under the radar for a long time. |
