Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Voice Of Joy Voice of Joy is a gospel choir with young singers from Haugesund and the surrounding area. The singers have different backgrounds and experience, but a common passion in the gospel song. The message is central to the Voice of Joy and is fundamental to what the choir does. Voice of Joy was started in 1995 as a result of the Karmøy Gospel Festival. The festival is a compilation of young choral singers who gather every year at Karmøy. Petter Losnegård started Voice of Joy as a project choir who practiced a few times a year the first time. This has now developed into a choir with weekly practice, approx. 40 - 50 performances each year, three recordings and tours both domestically and abroad. For the past 5 years, Voice of Joy has toured annually in the United States with participation in the Music & Worship Conference in Christ Church, Nashville, as a central part of the program. In addition to this, the choir has had concerts all over Norway and in England and Ireland. Voice of Joy has produced 3 CD recordings in 2003, 2005 and 2007. The latter is a concert recording made in Brentwood Baptist Chruch in Nashville and produced by renowned American producer David Hamilton. The recording has been done with American musicians and Patrick Henderson and Kirk Whalum (scissors) with as guests. The group is constantly facing new challenges and exciting assignments. In November 2008, the choir launched its first Christmas album, Bethlehem.

Search Add 2 Carolina Maria de Jesus Reflecting on the written memory of Minas de Gerais author Carolina Maria de Jesus (1914-1977) requires care and effort. For someone that barely knows or has never heard of the author of the book Quarto de despejo–diário de uma favelada, published in August of 1960, we must start at the beginning. Carolina Maria de Jesus was born in Sacramento, a small city in the south of Minas Gerais, to a black family of the last enslaved generation of Africans and Afro-descendants brought against their will or born in Brazil. De Jesus herself called her grandfather, the nicknamed African Socrates, soldo do escravidao,[1] not for his physical and mental characteristics, but for his adaptation to the system that would conform him to the demands of being black, poor, and born to illiterate parents. Carolina Maria de Jesus would have had only to follow the path laid out for her by the Casa Grande [2] and by powerful landowners, remnants of the bandeirante[3] period and the bossism created by violence and rampant rural coronelismo.[4] Formed of the same clay that made up the rest of her family, clay the color of bitita — a word derived from the word mbita, from the Mozambican language of Changana, meaning “clay pot,” and, as the Infopedia Dictionary of Portuguese puts it, the “singular feminine diminutive of this term results in the word ‘bitita."[5] Thus, bitita (the author’s childhood nickname) refers to something of clay, ochre or black in color. This enslaved ancestrality and the forced destiny of subservience, on the contrary, gave de Jesus courage and drive, beginning in the two years she spent frequenting a Spiritist high school. Determination and dreams beyond measure pushed the little black girl to exceed all imaginable, to do the unthinkable and the impossible — and in her persistence in learning to read, even as a little girl, she was deemed crazy. At a tender age, she was arrested and thrown in jail. Carolina Maria de Jesus had her life journey associated with the question of social disorder because she did not accept for herself a life path directed by others. Her life as a manual laborer, from babysitter to domestic servant, from cook to factory worker, turned her into a pilgrim, taking long journeys by foot from city to city in search of bread and dignity. In the big city, however, she found unanticipated pain and glory. In São Paulo’s 1940s to 1960s, she charted her existence as stark proof of her “change in function”: a poor little semiliterate black girl could never dare to become an intellectual. To write, even in old notebooks found in the trash, or in the newspapers, was something for the “lettered” or and learned (all male) academics. But de Jesus pushed her way in, doused in courage and daring, masterfully rewriting her own DNA. On the streets of the big city, she turned from an “exotic object,” spending cold nights in tenements and on the sidewalks beneath highway overpasses, to “out of order” — something to be thrown out, destined for the trash heap, for despejo[6]. From this impure mud she picked the most precious flower — her ideas and thoughts on Brazil’s underground, where the yell of the favela and its people echoed strongest. Quarto de despejo, her debut book, triggered a new schism in Brazilian intellectual life — one not felt since romanticism, one that would shake literature strong enough to cause a break with colonialism. Her literature brought the gift of revolt and of revolution. The aesthetic was, from a conceptual standpoint, that of the canon being broken, akin to a useless bookbinding. Carolina de Jesus — not only with Quarto do despejo, but in her other works, even those yet unpublished — shook the ivory tower, that spearhead between the old and the new (modernizing but outdated on account of its conservatism) in our literature. With her writing she imposed a new code of literary conduct: it is the woman of the people that writes, literarily, fable-ly, poetically, the anguish of the people. In this aesthetic scheme, she broke from the condition of “unlettered” to writer; from invisibility to fame. In Brazil, she would stand on par with Jorge Amado, Clarice Lispector, Dinah Silveira de Queiroz, Raquel de Queiroz. Internationally, she would break all possible and imaginable barriers. At the junction of these two standards, de Jesus became the new canon. Elitist rhetoric stood (and stands) in opposition to this new reality. Racially aggressive, her narrative is harrowing, discursive, modern at the same time that remains in touch with reality and lives within the changing anxieties of Brazilian national consciousness. In fiction, she speaks through her romances, especially in Pedaços da fome, in poetry, just remember the strength of O colono e o fazendeiro, in short stories, Onde estas Felicidade? Carolina is the factor that breaks with the reining literary neocolonialism, active since Brazil’s Semana de Arte Moderna in 1922. Her legacy and increasing presence today testify to the force of nature in her written thought, which remains current and contemporary, subversive and revolutionary, rebranded as alternative, marginal, peripheral. Born 105 years ago, de Jesus left with us much more than unpublished works, dreams, and resilience. Revisiting her work has become more and more urgent. Reading her is, to put it crudely, absolutely imperative. She is still muzzled by the threat of 1964.[7] Her voice has been hushed in dungeons of national consciousness. Speaking of and reading de Jesus has become something dangerous, risky, threatening. Treating her as the author, thinker, and intellectual that she is has become a condemnation, an affront to the caste of the academic ivory tower of literature and learning. This is a long and stony road. This is work that remains to be done — done with the same pain and suffering endured by the black current author Carolina Maria de Jesus.

Search Add 2 David Surman David Surman (born 1981, UK) lives and works in London. He studied animation filmmaking at the Newport Film School before pursuing a postgraduate degree in film studies at Warwick. After several years spent working in moving image across the UK and Australia, he shifted his focus back to a studio arts practice. In recent years he has adopted a characteristic style that involves the creation of many different expressive works that use recurring figurative motifs such as cats, birds and eggs alongside words in a deliberate way. Significant recent shows include “Paintings for the Cat Dimension” at no format Gallery, London (2018), “Figure It Out” at The Dot Project, London (2016) and “Darkness on the Edge of Town” (2013) at Perth Centre for Contemporary Photography. He is also a founding member of the media collective Pachinko Pictures.

Search Add 2 I Heart The Monster Hero I Heart The Monster Hero I Heart The Monster Hero are a magic band made from crystals, rams blood, holy candle wax and casio keyboard circuit boards. It consists of five human males that bang things and ring sounds from electricity by squeezing small strands of metal alloy. Most other humans react to these sounds by dancing & having a 'good time'. The music they make has been described as 'fuzzed-up swirl of pop-laminated psych punk.' A psychedelic experience is characterized by the perception of aspects of one's mind previously unknown, or by the creative exuberance of the mind liberated from its ostensibly ordinary fetters.

Search Add 2 Krisdeberg Krisdeberg are an electronic four piece formed at a party in Moby's house from Dublin. Krisdeberg formed after a chance meeting at a party in Moby’s house, still high on orange juice and vintage drum machine grooves. The newly bonded four-piece seized this moment of karmic kismet and resolved to make some music. Drawing on influences ranging from LCD Soundsystem all the way to James Murphy, Krisdeberg are a completely self-produced, self-recorded project. Locked away in their studio and armed with synthesisers, drums/machines and some noise; they began work on their first collection of songs. Months of work have resulted in the release of their debut single Lies. A snap-shot our all too common habit of deceiving ourselves set against a rhythmic, synth driven soundscape. Lies is available on Spotify, iTunes and all major streaming services and stores.

Search Add 2 Marvin Short The youngest of four, Marvin was raised on a steady diet of country and rock ‘n’ roll music. His dad worked for a US Army munitions plant that was a 6-hour drive away, but performed on nights and weekends with his Country/Western band, Ken Short and the Drifters. “My Daddy made sure to call it Country AND Western,” Marvin said. As Marvin’s singing talent became more obvious, his dad put Marvin on the stage and let him front the band more and more. By the time Marvin was 10 years old, his dad got him gigs on morning TV shows in Tulsa and Oklahoma City and introduced him to the recording studio where he cut his first track on a record. At the age of 12, he won several honors including “Under 16 Male Vocalist Award” and the “Under 16 Male Instrumentalist” from the Oklahoma Opry Association. These days, he’s rockin’ and rollin’ with six of Sedona’s most talented musicians, 5 nights a week, in his own ‘Rock N Roll Dreams’ show at the Encore Theater Sedona.
