Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 05/01/2026

Found 619583 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Emanuele Salazar Manuel María Daniel Francisco De Paula Salazar Zúñiga Manuel Maria Daniel Francisco de Paula Salazar Zuniga. Luckily for us, the baby that was baptized with this incredibly long name is currently known as Melico Salazar. Melico is the most renown Costa Rican artist of all times. He was born in January 3, 1887, son of Nazorio Salazar and of Rafaela Zuniga. His house was located only a block away from the National Theater, which is why he's said to have been born under the awnings of the theater. In 1896 his family moved to Cartago, where they stayed for fourteen years. Melico had a prodigious talent for singing, and he took the train into San Jose every week in order to participate in the rehearsals of the choir in the Colegio Seminario. The young boy then enrolled in the Escuela Santa Cecilia de Musica, which was inaugurated in 1894 in order to replace the Escuela Nacional de Musica. The Santa Cecilia school boasted amazing professors and artists, such as Melico's mentor, Joaquin Vargas Calvo. Salazar's talent was so apparent to his teachers that they encouraged him to sing in several places and for many occasions. The first written praises of the young artist appeared in the newspaper "La Aurora" on december, 1904: "There has been a great revelation tonight for the audience. Seventeen year-old Tenor Manuel Salazar. His voice is potent and solid, worthy of all praise". After this and many other favorable reviews, Salazar's local fame expanded, taking him to all of the provinces to perform in churches and schools. This young artist's career wasn't meant to be limited to national praise, though. On February 6, 1907, twenty year-old Salazar traveled to Italy with a meager $84 in his pocket. Here he stayed in Milan, where he studied with important teachers such as Castegnaro and Conrado. After studying with Gala Moretti in 1911, his international triumphs began. In 1914 he met and married his wife, Angiolina Viassone Cantero, from Turin. Angiolina or Lina as he called her, was introduced to Melico by another singer and she became her husband's most ardent supporter. In theaters where nobody was allowed to remain backtsage, Lina would stand or sit through her husband's performance and hold a pitcher of coffee that he drank during breaks. During the 1910's and 1920's his international presentations increased, as did his fame and recognition. Salazar traveled with his wife and members of different operas to Cuba, Central America, Venezuela, Peru, Brazil, Mexico and North American cities. He also visited European cities such as Barcelona, Moscow, Leningrad, Riga and Berlin. Among Salazar's legendary performances are: the Inauguration of the Rodak theater in Rochester in 1922, his debut in the Metropolitan Opera of New York in 1924, and his participation in the Aida Opera performed in the Polo Ground in 1937. In 1937 Salazar was ready to return to Costa Rica. Melico Salazar's brilliant career was at its apogee or greatest height from 1917 to 1930. In 1940 however, the great tenor hardly performed, except for very special occasions and upon the request of important figures. Fortunately for Costa Rica and for all of its aspiring young singers, the National Conservatory was founded in 1941. Melico Salazar, who was and still is Costa Rica's greatest singer was stepping down, but new talents were rising , due mostly to the Conservatory's opening. In 1947, Melico Salazar announced his support to President Calderon Guardia, but since the latter lost in the Civil War of 1948, this cost the artist dearly. His pension was suspended by the Figueres government and Salazar wasn't supported economically or morally until many years later. After returning to San Jose (he had been living in Cartago), Melico Salazar Zuniga, the greatest Costa Rican singer of all times, died in poverty on August 6, 1950. The man who had received innumerable applause and praise in theaters from all over the world, wasn't appropriately honored by the Costa Rican government until 1972, when a statue of his was inaugurated in Cartago. Later, in 1979, a project was passed in order to name the old Teatro Raventos, Teatro Melico Salazar, a name which it still holds today. As is the case with most great artists, Melico had to wait until after his death to be remembered and to be immortalized.

Search Add 2 Beatles Cine Club The Beatles Club The official Japanese fan club of [a=The Beatles] was founded in 1966, when the band visited Japan for the first time. Originally it was named Beatles Study Group (ビートルズ研究会), but in 1967 the group changed its name to "Beatles Cine Club" (while organizing screening events for The Beatles movie in Japan). The Club also released a few very limited, memorabilia-style releases exclusively for its members, and they are listed under [l=Beatles Cine Club] label entry. Beatles Cine Club translated lyrics to some of The Beatles albums, and those translations were published in the booklets for Japanese CD editions, with full credits going to a fan club. They also publishes a monthly newsletter magazine, organizes tribute events and participates in many other translating, writing, researching and publishing activities dedicated to the Fab Four in Japan. Currently this organization is called simply The Beatles Club = ザ・ビートルズ・クラブ, and sometimes they are credited like that. Please, use the corresponding ANV for such credits. Even though the fan club is dubbed as "official", it is not endorsed or certified by [l=Apple Records] or other right holders. But they are known to be in close contacts with [a=Paul McCartney], [a=Yoko Ono] and other people from The Beatles camp through all these years. For example, since 2001 The Beatles Club held an annual charity concert Dream Power John Lennon Super Live and Ono supported and advocated for it. Contacts: P.O. Search Add 2 OMBRA OBSCVRA Jorge Gisbert Soler OMBRA OBSCVRA began producing electronic music at the early age of 15 along with a group of friends. He has grown up in the middle of the era of VHS, cassette tapes and CD-ROM, and he has always experimented to try to find different sounds giving value to the failure and the error. A few years after he forged his hobby and it became a necessity, he began experimenting with ambient music and noise, embracing and alternating with other musical styles over time. His unfathomable influences could be summed up in artists such as Holy Other, Nosaj Thing, Balam Acab, Dame, Adapt, Shlohmo and Christian Löffler among others. His music is an environmental landscape evolution that travels between different styles, such as down tempo, dub, ambient and even IDM, all deformed and compacted under his personal and characteristic of vision, which wants to ‘touch’ something within those who listen to it. OMBRA OBSCVRA is a particularly evasive and private artist, valuing the mystery surrounding it as a byproduct of stage fright and an initial desire to keep the project anonymous for as long as possible. Despite having performed in various festivals under different pseudonyms and musical proposals.

Search Add 2 Hordearii A nickname given to gladiators who fought for their freedom. A thing we still have to do this modern day. The music made by Hordearii can be identified as Death/Thrash metal from the heart of the Netherlands. Because of the broad musical taste of the bandmembers, there is a big variety of styles that can be heard throughout the songs. Different breaks are mixed with intense blastbeats on the drum, while the guitarists keep playing different fast riffs. This combination gives a modern sound, wearing a leather biker jacket.

Search Add 2 Fyah Mawi Solomon Stephens Roots reggae artist located in the UK. Fyah Mawi was born in 1967 at Jubilee Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica. Forced to grow up early, he was just 12 years old, when political turmoil divided his beloved country of Jamaica, Mawi’s loss was exacerbated by the death of his sibling aged 15 (RIP Michael Smith aka Patrick). With the rise in division, the opportunity arose to leave Jamaica for the UK to make a fresh start and start a family, however the same persecution which was fled in Jamaica was also apparent in the UK. Due to his love for Rastafari and the awareness of self, music became his life destination, which has helped to breakdown the divisions in life.

Search Add 2 Sunni Nash Sunny Nash Sunny Nash began a music career at age 15 when she met Houston’s KYOK radio celebrity and media personality, George Nelson, who presented her a scholarship for winning the Miss Texas High Contest in 1965; she was a sophomore in high school. For her talent competition, she sang a medley of the 1964 R&B hit, ”Every Little Bit Hurts,” and the 1954 jazz standard, “Misty.” During the summer of 1966, George Nelson booked Nash to sing jazz and blues live on KYOK broadcasts with the Conrad Johnson Orchestra at the El Dorado Ballroom and Ray Barnett's Cinder Club with John Roberts and the Hurricanes. Nash shared Houston stages with blued-eyed soul singer, Roy Head, and R&B teen group, Archie Bell & the Drells. After she graduated high school in 1967, KTSA radio celebrity, Ricci Ware, arranged for Nash to audition for Abe Epstein Enterprises in San Antonio as a studio musician, background vocalist and recording artist. In 1968, Abe Epstein released Nash's country blues recording, “I Am Nothing Without You,” written by Ricky "Güero Polkas" Davila, then a songwriter for Epstein Studios and also a DJ at San Antonio's KEDA Radio Jalapeno, the nation's only conjunto radio station. Dubbed “Miss Soulsational” by Epstein, Nash was a Gulf Coast sensation from Texas to Florida singing a mix of blues, country and Tejano music. Nash went back to Houston in 1969 and got studio work writing, arranging and laying tracks, and singing in local nightclubs, and performing on ABC's "Dialing for Dollars," accompanied on piano by Paul Schmidtt. In 1972, Brunswick Records signed Nash as a studio musician, songwriter and recording artist. With Curtis Mayfield’s Super Fly soundtrack trio, headed by drummer, Quinton Joseph, Nash co-wrote and recorded “The 3rd Movement,” which now has a new generation of worldwide cult followers of old-school deep funk. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1977, Nash was a vocalist, keyboardist, percussionist and dancer with Johnny Nash’s 1978 “I Can See Clearly Now” tour of the British Isles. Nash worked with Odell Brown, Marvin Gaye’s music director and songwriting partner of “Let’s Get It On.” In 1990, Nash wrote, produced and scored a University of Texas film, “We Have Something To Say,” nominated for a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award. The film’s theme song won Nash a People’s Choice Nomination for Best Song for a Sammy Davis Songwriting Award. Currently, Nash is producing a catalogue of her original, previously unpublished songs, some arranged by Terry Battle, including "Nothing Really Wrong," now on SoundCloud

In 1998 his friend showed him a PC program called Fast Tracker II. That was the time, when he started to listen and produce electronic music (especially trance music). As the PC’s were developed, higher quality sounds, and softwares became available to use. In 2007 he sent his track (produced with his friend) to international trance labels. That was the time, when Tranzident, and the Sonar-Eclipse Recordings became interested in his music. Meanwhile he goes to the University Of West Hungary too, in Sopron. At the end of 2008 he started to produce electronical hiphop break and drum&bass music under the name D.D.F. (Dan da Funk). In 2009 Fankadeli (Ferenc Kőházy) gave him acapellas from his amazing rap songs.

After many sweaty drunken practices in Bassist Pat Marz's 3000 degree practice room, Last Call In Jonestown decided to record the 7 songs they had written so far together. After recording the 9 song demo in early 2021 they played shows around the Detroit area until scheduling issues and internal tensions lead the band to split down the middle in 2022, with Vocalist Aaron Kasica and Drummer Mikhail Koseck departing. Afterwards, Guitarist Aaron Starzec and Bassist Pat Marz would continue the project with Drummer John Seril and Vocalist Ryan Clos. In late 2023 Clos would also leave Jonestown. Search Add 2 North Sea Story North Sea Story was a band that Christopher Standish (guitar, vocals) started in Madison, Wisconsin, with John Schkiele (guitar 1996), Jason Ciletti (drums 1996), and Chad BaDour (1996). After a few shows, Standish relocated to NYC and teamed up with Dave Brown (guitar, vocals 1998-1990) after answering his Village Voice ad that mentioned Chavez as an influence, then recruiting Rance Piatt, (bass) after complimenting his Rocket From the Crypt shirt in a sports bar, and Paul FitzGerald (drums) recommended by mentors in Punchdrunk. All new songs were written and demoed with Charles Bissell of the Wrens. Shows were played and a full length CD was recorded with Adam Lasus at Fireproof Studios. Piatt left town to teach for a semester and Josh Weil filled in on bass. Later Piatt returned and Brown left the band, after months of consideration, and a tour as a trio, Weil accepted the offer to join on guitar and vocal in 2001, During preparations to record a new album, FitzGerald, then Piatt and Weil left the band, leaving only Standish to finish the album and release it with the help of other friends of the band. Some reviews: http://www.splendidezine.com/ North Sea Story / Working for Wellness / North Sea Story's music is nice, blustery, melodic punk rock. If I wanted to, I could probably get away with applying a certain three-letter description that begins with "e" and ends with "o"...but I won't. The crashing guitars and indie rock furor you'll find here is rather unlikely to surprise you, though elements of post-rock progression in tunes like "80 Through Ohio" and "The Last Wound-UP" keep the proceedings from going too far up Boring Cookie-Cutter Rock Music Street. In addition to sounding great, this apparently self-released CD is beautifully packaged in a lovingly designed yet affordably minimal cardboard slipcase -- the sort that makes you super-eager to open it and get at the indie-rock treasure inside. Fans of Paul Newman (the band) will love it. gz North Sea Story - Working For Wellness Being an old fart, I've become accustomed to looking for influences when listening to newer bands. You may be asking yourself what that character flaw of mine has to do with anything - well, let me finish. North Sea Story may or may not have ever even heard some of my favorite bands from the late 80's, but that doesn't mean they don't fit nicely in between my Frontier and Twin/Tone albums. North Sea Story play songs with a cheerful sort of aggression. There's nary an ounce of anger on this disc, but a lot of sugar sweetness masquerading itself as post-punk, emo, or whatever else you want to tag it. I'm finding it hard to decide whether or not what they're doing is a decade out of style or if it's the very beginning of a renaissance I wasn't even expecting. "High Water Mark", with it's dual guitar interplay, pounding beat, and fist-pumping chorus, is a perfect example of what this album's all about. More or less, Working For Wellness is a soaring anthem from beginning to end. Let's hope they'restarting something rather than finishing it. Roy Acorn NORTH SEA STORY "Working For Wellness" CD (self release) I'm taking it that the North-East is going through this pop thing now a days, but it's sort of folk R.E.M/ LIVE sounding. Anyway, you've got this band...They're straight up pop, the style reminds me of what people used to consider indie-pop in the early 90's. When R.E.M. were reaching their top time and Super Chunk were getting noticed. This is not so much punk but with definite distorted guitars and rocking parts. It's a little too "MTV" sounding at times if you know what I mean but it's something i could see rub off on me if i listened to it enough. I really like a song on here entitled "Bicentennial Quarters". On this song they added violins and such which i think is good for them. You get 10 spanking songs and this is not so bad, so go check it out.(JK) NORTH SEA STORY - Working For Wellness, Self Released, CD (1999) WHEN PORTLAND OREGON'S Dharma Bums broke up in 1992 I was bummed for a year (maybe more). Listening to Brooklyn NY's NORTH SEA STORY makes up for my loss every time I spin Working For Wellness. They're not a BUMS clone. Its the uncanny similarity by both singers (Chris Standish and David Brown) to that of Jeremy Wilson--and that for me is a good thing to listen to. Even better, is that they do in fact have their own style. Dynamically the songs are set in a particular mood. One that arrives the listener at a beginning-middle-end. The drama that unfolds from rock tempo'd songs like "High Water Mark" and "Butterknife" are things of many happy returns. Same's true for the notesnatching crafty emittences of the locked down jug of "80 through Ohio." But I suppose what I like best about Working For Wellness is their ability to change moods without sacrificing taste. Delivering a spirited run of 11 tracks of guitar rock brushed slightly with an artful eye. Copyright © 2000 Green Mountain Music Review po box 391386, mountain view, ca., 940 Delusions of Adequacy First, let me say that this is one of the best produced and packaged self-released albums that I've seen and heard in quite some time. The packaging is very subtle yet attractive, and the sound quality is impeccable. North Sea Story, despite having a very emo name, aren't really emo. The band plays long rock songs with strong rhythm, dazzling guitars, and interesting vocals. Sometimes sounding country, sometimes southern, sometimes just passionate, the vocals here are mixed up front enough to shine. At times the southern feel distracts me from the music itself, but it's easy to overlook that after a few listens. "Pigeon Falls" sounds like a more rocking Jayhawks song. On this song most of all, the singer's voice sounds very southern or Americana rock. "80 Through Ohio" is quite a beautiful rock song, the guitar work just amazing here, flowing and riff-intensive, the vocals rising and falling quite impressively, building to a scream by the end of the song as the drums and bass build along. But the band proves they can play slower, prettier songs as well, such as the six-minute "Bicentennial Quarter," complete with soft and pretty guitars and strings just barely audible in the background. Similar loud rockers like "Just Like the Movies" contrast with the more restrained and quiet numbers, like "Longshoreman's Vote." Elements of popular artists like Counting Crows can be heard here, but I'm more thrilled by the feeling of bands like Sordid Humor and Engine 88. "Butterknife" is a good example of the band's style, rocking hard but slowing down at parts, the vocals strained almost to the point of a scream but restrained throughout, the guitars driving along throughout. "Open Invitation" is slow and moving, slowly speeding and intensifying, at times both pretty and intense. So, I don't really know anything about the band themselves, other than the fact that, despite the southern sounding vocals, the band is from Brooklyn, N.Y. Strings fill in the empty spaces, as does soft piano, but, primarily, NSS is a rock band. Falling somewhere between indie rock and emo rock with a harder rocking emphasis at times, North Sea Story could be a radio friendly band if they every played anyone quite this good. They would go a long way toward breaching the gap between some very different styles of rock as well. - Jeff North Sea Story Working For Wellness This is surely one of those discs that you love the second your ears here the melodic wonder. The mix of cello and repetitive guitar work reminds me of a slowed down Jimmy Eat World. Its emotionally driven heart filled music that's enough to leave you floating in space, forgetting all the pains of life. It was enough for me to forget about the surgery I had been through. The throbbing just seemed to fade, as if the music was some sort of God sent healing remedy. I might be getting a little carried away here, but I really like this music. I have only listened to the first song by this point. Its titled "Pigeon Falls" and it's certainly a masterpiece, enough to get this band popular (in what ever way moving, emotional music can be). Ooops… I put the cd player at random and I am now listening to track 10. Wow…still sounds pretty good. My guess right now is that it sounds pretty good the whole way through. Let me go ahead and change it back to track 2. Yep it sounds pretty good. The only flaw I can see is that the vocals seem sort of dull and you can't hear them very good. The instrumentation is what caught me here anyway. This stuff really doesn't need vocals, but I guess they just decided to add it in. The tone is just really nice sounding on the guitar and even though it is repetitive and some what simple (like most emo). It's addicting and very lovable. If I were to go comparing this to some other bands I would have to say it sounds most like, Pedro The Lion, Saint Sophia and slow Jimmy Eat World and Sunfactor. The strings in the music almost makes it sound like classical music only not. Actually these guys aren't just slow like I originally thought. I was just listening to the slow songs because I was still on random. They actually have a lot of diversity. See, they keep getting better and better. The vocals still aren't my favorite, but if you are more of a fan of the instrumental part of emo music, then I would bet you might want to go pick this one up. It comes in a cardboard cover, which I found to be pretty neat. I'm not sure that's the way it usually comes, but it could be. I'm also not sure who their record label is. I will have to figure it out. If you want this cd I would try emailing them or sending them snail mail. -John Best
