Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 5 | Thildo Gama | Thildo dos Santos Gama | Thildo Gama (Salvador, June 5, 1945 - Salvador, December 8, 2011) was a Brazilian musician, artist, teacher and auditor. He was the first guitarist of [a=Raul Seixas] and one of the pioneers of the Bahian rock. In addition to being a musician, he was also a fiscal auditor of the Bahia State Treasury Department, a university professor and, more recently, became a clown, creating the characters "Zig Zig Zaa" and "Tô de Boa". Thildo began playing with his friend Raul in his teens and were two of the first rockers of Salvador, still in the 1950s. In 1962, they formed the group Relâmpagos Do Rock, along with Enelmar Chagas. The band quickly became popular in Salvador. Shortly thereafter, Chagas leaves the group and is replaced by Thildo's brother, Délcio Gama. Still in 1962, Os Relâmpagos Do Rock appear on TV Itapoan. The recording of this presentation is in the album O Baú Do Raul (1992). According to the magazine A Bahia, the band Os Relâmpagos Do Rock was the best set of rock of all the state. With the success, the group grew and was renamed The Panthers, now counting with [a=Mariano Lanat], [a=Carleba] and Carlô (neighbor of Raul, who stayed in the band until 1964), besides Raul Seixas and Thildo. Thildo left the group in 1967, not being present in Raul Seixas' first album, "Raulzito E Os Panteras", in 1967. He also participated in other bands such as Thildo E Seu Bossas E Os Jovens, and released the compact Thildo Gama E Os Terríveis by the Astor, in 1967. This compact had on side A, the song 'Bonequinha', version of Waldir Serrão for 'Pretty Woman', of [a=Roy Orbison]; On the B side there was 'Você É Inspiração' (Jeff Cezar and Thildo Gama), both songs came with the name surf, considered the first recording of a Bahian artist to designate his production within the subgenre surf music. In the 80's Thildo also participated in a group folkloric group from Bahia, making presentations in Italy and Chile. Thildo was always present in the musical scene of Salvador: he played in bands, performed several shows and recorded independent albums. In 2002, together with the auditor also fiscal Francisco Benjamin, formed the pair Beja & Gama that touched in dancing shows. In 2009, Gama performed at the Virada Cultural de São Paulo with Os Panteras, at which time they played the first Seixas album in its entirety. He died of a brain cancer, is buried in the Bosque da Paz cemetery in Salvador. |

Search | Add | 5 | Viscous Liquid | Reading, UK-based solo artist Rhys Williams started Viscous Liquid as a home recording project in 2012, the music leaning heavily on psychedelic, shoegaze, lo-fi and surf pop influences. Williams began making his music available in digital format online soon afterwards, with a self-described aim to “sound like the Beach Boys strung out on barbiturates playing in some sort of wind tunnel.” The singles "Never Fun/Soother", "It’s Sort Of Like Being A Long Way From Home, All The Time" and an eponymous debut EP were released in 2013. Viscous Liquid gained recognition in Reading's local indie music scene, as well as praise from alternative music critics and publications such as Sounds Better With Reverb. A second EP followed, "Songs For Jealous Lovers", featuring added vocal harmonies and a broader, jangle-pop sound. The more expansive, psychedelic "Infinity Pool" EP was released later the same year. In 2014, Williams joined Rhys Edwards (Tripwires) to form Ulrika Spacek, having previously toured with that band as an additional guitarist.

Actually named [a=The Starlets (2)], they recorded a new version of "I Sold My Heart To The Junkman" (originally by The Basin Street Boys from 1946) in 1961 but the song was released under another group's name: [a=The Blue Belles]. After getting caught lip-synching on American Bandstand, Patti LaBelle & The Bluebelles were sued by The Starlets; each member received $5,000 in damages. Patti LaBelle And The Bluebells then re-recorded a 3rd version: -2nd version: the lead singer (over the backing vocals) starts the song by "oh yeah" twice. -3rd version: the lead singer (behind the backing vocals) starts the song by "oh yeah, uh uh". [l=Peak (3)] Records released the original recordings ("I Sold My Heart To The Junkman" / "I've Got To Let Him Know") in '64 under the "wrong" name "The Blue Belles". [l=Rainbow Records (23)] did the same with two other recordings the same year.

The anonymous liner notes of their only LP are the most replete info on the band and tell a short, humble rise to fame that peaked on a 1963 Merv Griffin Show TV appearance. Low album sales immediately discouraged further musical effort- but all men moved to long, successful careers in unrelated fields. Members include tenor Walter John Behringer, Jr. (1941-2013), banjoist/baritone Philip John Novisky (1941-2002), and tenor/stage actor Michael Pevzner who was using the pseudonym of ‘Michael George’ at the time.

Search | Add | 5 | Wendel Jr. | Wendel Jr. - Percussion Replacement System | "Wendel Jr. is NOT another drum machine. Wendel Jr. is a state of the art, digital, percussion sound replacement device." That is the introduction the Wendel Jr. is given in the manual produced by Wendel Labs Ltd. in 1985. First introduced by [a=Steely Dan] on their [r=844094] album in 1980, the Wendel Jr. soon became a very popular drum sampler/drum machine used by numerous famous artist, groups and producers. The Wendel Jr's drum sounds are 16 bit sounds sampled at 50 kHz, recorded with no equalization on a 3M Digital Mastering System and then digitally transferred through a special interface, into the EPROM's that are in the Wendel Jr. cartridges being used for playback. The sounds recorded in the Wendel Jr. are not chopped off at the end. The natural decay is totally preserved in the memory chips, therefore providing extremely natural sounding sounds. "Think of Wendel Jr's output as a good mic in the right place of a good sounding drum. The phrase 'Realer than real' comes to mind, but I promised that I would not use it in this manual" is how Roger Nichols describes the Wendel Jr. in the manual. |

Search | Add | 5 | Allan Loucks | Allan Loucks | Allan Loucks is an award-winning composer whose hundreds of orchestral and choral works have been heard nationwide in computer games, educational software packages, live theater productions, film, TV commercials, books, websites, dance, sacred music, experimental works, and the concert hall. Loucks' approach constantly challenges the established traditions, the "conventional wisdom" and the "best practices" - not only how music sounds, but how music is used and how it communicates. And these fresh approaches continually garner widely acknowledged praise. Being an active composer and musician in the music scene for many years, he has served several composer residencies, and has toured North America full-time as concert pianist and multi-keyboardist in a variety of bands and orchestras. Currently, Loucks can also be found sitting in with choirs, bands, and orchestras, for various performing and recording projects. Loucks played in such bands as "RACER", "YOURSELF", "TIN EAR", "THE LARCH", and "ELLIS AND LYNCH". |
