Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 29/07/2025

Found 602638 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Sherman Ewing Brooklyn-based Sherman Ewing has crafted a dual success story that celebrates tenacity, hard work and faith. A Columbia graduate, he’s an Ivy Leaguer who ended up balancing two distinct and unlikely careers: one as an indie rocker, and another as a dog-walking entrepreneur. While Ewing’s elite college colleagues were heading off to graduate school, getting married and buying homes, he was reeling from the tragic death of his mother -- a devout, religious woman who did not believe in standard medicine, even in the face of cancer. Ewing struggled to find his footing following her passing, but he does recall her telling him to follow his dreams...and he found them in his love of music and dogs. As an independent singer/songwriter, he has been compared to Bob Dylan and Keith Richards and covered in USA Today multiple times, with writer Elysa Gardner noting Ewing’s songs “have a wry lyricism that suggests a hard-won emotional integrity.” Parallel to his music career, Ewing has made a name for himself as a hometown entrepreneur, building his New York-based Club Pet NYC dog walking business from a rag-tag one-man operation to a respected local firm, with dozens of employees and a client list that includes some of the most prominent families in the Big Apple. Club Pet NYC was picked by New York Magazine as the city’s #1 Dog Walking service, and has also been covered by NPR. Ewing’s New York roots are intertwined with his dual careers. A resident of Red Hook, Ewing found unlikely inspiration in the devastation he experienced in Hurricane Sandy’s wake. His most recent album “Cross My Broken Heart’ mined the harrowing experience (sadly shared by many at the time,) as his home was virtually destroyed, and he began the process of putting things back together. Ewing’s New York story also includes attending Columbia University, working with underprivileged kids at Covenant House, walking dogs while working overnights at Fountain House (a residence for people with mental illness,) and embracing a spiritual path within his community and among his friends, that continues to guide him forward to this day.

Search Add 2 Blue Dog Pict The band released three albums: The Picture Album (1990), Anxiety of Influence: a nodding into...? (1992), and Spindly Light Und Wax Rocketines (1995). Blue Dog Pict was one of Toronto’s most beloved and misunderstood bands of the early 90’s. Between rave reviews and abject bewilderment, the media recognized their musicality and organically grown and fiercely loyal and colorful audience, one that the Toronto Star and MuchMusic likened to a cult, while others used analogies like a flying saucer wreck on Easter Island or any number of bemused adjectives to attempt to explain what they witnessed or perceived from the outside. Their songs were in regular rotation on college radio throughout North America for half a decade and their self-released albums got international distribution from Distribution FUSION III out of Montreal and Yikes! Records in the Unites States. Their song "One Hour's Sleep" was featured in the Degrassi TV Movie "School's Out."

Search Add 2 Heptones Expression Singers Jackie Bernard, Telford Nelson & Leroy Sibbles who used this once-off name for the 1975 song "Callie Weed" produced by Harry J. From the official TRS Reissue and according to Telford Nelson who sang and wrote "Callie Weed": Jackie Bernard from the group Kingstonians is, in fact, the soulful voice driving this iconic song. Teaming up with Bernard, are friends Telford "Tilly" Nelson and Leroy Sibbles who contribute unique background vocals that effortlessly enhance Bernard's emotive delivery. Coming together to provide the instrumental backdrop was the Soul Syndicate band, enhancing the composition's depth. Reflecting on the creation of "Callie Weed," Telford Nelson vividly recalls auditioning the song on his guitar for producer Harry J in 1975. Before the official recording, Harry J reached out to Leroy Sibbles (who had just returned from living abroad in Canada) in hope to enrich the track with his distinctive backing vocals. This collaborative effort resulted in a dynamic blend, showcasing the different vocals and musical elements. It's important to note that the record was initially attributed to the 'Heptones Expression,' likely for marketing reasons. However, in reality it was Telford Nelson's composition from the beginning. As the only member of the actual Heptones involved in this recording, Leroy Sibbles contributed by providing a subtle touch of backing vocals, even though Nelson's harmonies takes precedence in the final mix following Jackie Bernard's lead. Remarkably, on the Dub side, Telford's vocals are isolated in the mix, resulting in a clear and distinct presence.

Search Add 2 Bury The Bully Whitby, Ontario, Canada Rock band Bury the Bully are really in touch with their inner Zen masters. Drummer Cala’s warm smile and polite demeanor supports the hippie-esque perspective BtB portrays. From the flower, fire and water album artwork, to the album name Life, Death & Wonder, to their love, peace, faith and freedom influences listed on Myspace, BtB emanates strong positive energy. Vocalist/guitarist Rich McPherson, bassist Mike Paglia, guitarist Steve Parker and drummer Cala (whose full name is oddly elusive) have been playing together for 10 years. After winning the Golden Ear award on Jonovision’s Jonopalooza, BtB was approached by Pete Lesperance (Harem Scarem). Along with co-producer Mike Turner (Our Lady Peace), Lesperance became a mentor to BtB. With support by their side, the boys took BtB to the “next level” and in 2007 they released their debut album Life, Death & Wonder. The result is a seamless 13 song musical journey. With lyrics such as “fight in the army of love,” “stop this life and show some insight” and “capture freedom here in our cage,” BtB serenade their listener with socially and personally aware melodic poetry. Interview With Bury The BullyBury The BullyAmidst the bleak cloud of societal complexity, BtB stands in a clear pool of simplicity. The album is threaded with the common theme of rising above adversity and whatever burdens may be preventing one from accomplishing their dream. “Everyone keeps saying we [modern society] are in so much trouble. We should really be thankful for what we have now instead of trying to control this and that. We should focus on the things we have control of and be thankful,” Cala advised. Along with being thankful for their fortunes, BtB is active and generous in supporting various charities. They have raised money through their live shows for breast cancer, “Bury the Cancer” and Sick Kids. “I suggested ‘Bury the Sick Kids’, but it didn’t go over very well,” Cala morbidly jests. Bury The BullyBtB have spent the last year touring mostly around Ontario, with many shows in and around Toronto. They are currently working on new material. “It’s pretty exciting because the album took three years and it is the fist time since that we have done anything new. We are starting to get a new found motive/outlook on what music means to us and what we can accomplish in the future,” Cala said.

Search Add 2 Adesuwa Obaseki Adesuwa Obaseki-Bullen Dynamic Soul Jazz RnB vocalist Adesuwa Obaseki was born and raised in Swindon and London. She started to develop her awesome talent for song writing and poetry at the early age of 14 with her mother's encouragement. After studying at the London College of Fashion in 1989, Adesuwa followed in the footsteps of many highly successful artists and completed a two years performing arts course at W.A.C. Weekend Arts and a Dance Foundation course at Kensington and Chelsea College. She also studied singing for three years with top UK session singer [a=Roy Hamilton]. In 1992, she joined an accapella group called Innervision, performing at several major venues such as Hackney Empire, Chats Palace, and many other London clubs. After three years, the group had performed on The Royal Variety Show with such names as Cilla Black, and the London Gospel Choir. Coming from a Christian background, Adesuwa trained and performed with her local gospel Choir, across England and at the London Gospel Awards in 1995. After working four years with Innervision, it was time for her to move on. Adesuwa wanted to work with someone who had the same commitment and inspiration as she did for producing and writing songs. She met the acclaimed bass player [a=Hugh Bullen], who was playing at a popular club with his band The Rain Dogs in June 1996. Hugh invited Adesuwa on stage to sing and after the show, he asked if she would like to join the band which was renamed Phinx. After a year playing the London circuit and performing across England, the band recorded their first album called "Free Your Spirit". The first single from the album also called "Free Your Spirit" and was promoted by Promobeat in 1999. Promo Beat being an independent label did well in the DJ chart returns across England reaching the top ten above world acclaimed artists. A video was filmed for the single and was nominated for an award organised by Macintosh computers in Paris. A television cable company which promotes new talent broadcasted the "Free Your Spirit" video. She was married to [a=Hugh Bullen].
